Can't USB sync my PP TX w/ W7-64-bit system

I am trying to do the first sync of my Palm Pilot TX with my relatively new desktop 64-bit system with the USB cable.  It is a Windows 7 OS.
It says that it cannot detect any device and that there is no driver.
Anybody know how to get the Palm Pilot TX driver installed so I can perform my first USB cable sync.  It appears whatever came with the CD is unusable or not there.
I will sell the computer and pick up a docking station so I can use my work computer for home use too if I have to, but I'd really like to get my PP TX working with my W7 system.

If you would bother to read any of the other Windows 7 posts on this forum, you would discover several things:
1. You cannot sync via cable with any 64bit OS.
2. The "Sticky" posts at the top of this forum contain answers to questions asked over, and over, and over again (such as yours).  Look at the one for "Syncing a TX to Vista 64".  It's similar to Win7, and works fine.

  • Can the usb sync/power cable that came with the iPhone 3g and 4 handle the 2.1 amps drawn by the ipad 2 (if used with the 10w plug) without risk of overheating?

I recently made the mistake of buying a cheap sync cable from a well known auction site becuase I wanted a longer cable than comes in the box for my ipad 2.
Whilst my iPad will sync OK, it takes an age to charge (using the standard 10w plug in the wall). I don't fully understand the science in the cables, but assume it is not a big enough cable to handle the current/2.1 amps?.
If like house wire you send too much current through a cable that is to small for the job it risks overheating and causing a fire.
Does this same principle apply to the iPad power lead?
Anyway back to the question, can I use other leads I have hanging around the house from my previous iphones and ipods to charge my ipad (again still using the 10w plug in the wall) or will the cable in these be too small to handle the 2.1 amps required by the ipad?
I don't want to risk overheating the cables and causing a short to break my beloved iPad 2...!

    Thanks for your replies.
Not sure they entirely answer my question though.
I have used my different cables and can see that they are actually working (charging and syncing etc), but am i using old cable that was not intended to draw 2.1 amps and so may overheat and cause damage in the long run?
Or did apple deliberately over engineer the original cables which were only needed to supply 1 amp and they can actually be used to draw 2.1 amps comfortably?
Whilst the 30 pin connectors and usb points are identical, is the internal cable thickness/awg gauge the same?
    Thanks

  • The iPod can not be synced. The disk could not be read from or written to.

I try several time to send my song list from libraly to iPod. But it's show me that " The iPod can not be synced. The disk could not be read from or written to. "
About this problem i try to do manythings follow some reply for advice me. but i still got problem. and i try to check something in my PC and found something wrong. i go to properties of disk drive and go to hard ware that show me all hard drive i have include Apple iPod USB Device. i go to properties for check it and see
    Device status :
No driver are installed for this device
    Device usage :
    Use this device (enable)
i'm not sure that because of this problem? if yes, how to do? because i do manythings such as use 5 R's and program reset utility. But i still got this problem. Help me plz.

Sorry to see your having these issues Jihant. Posted below I have some links that may assist you with your troubleshooting steps.
One of the first things you may want to look at is
    1. Download and Install latest iTunes Software. You should have iTunes 7.2
    2. You stated earlier you did the 5 Rs. So you have done a Reset and Restore. I would give it one more shot after you upgraded iTunes as needed.
If this still does not resolve the issue. Try copying songs over 1 at a time. Do not copy over a playlist. Then try a new play list all together. Create a new playlist.
You can also take a CD you may have and put import songs into iTunes then see if those songs will copy over.
You may also create a new user and open up iTunes in a new user and import a cd with some songs and see if the same issue occurs.
    You can also try
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305136
And if this still does not work for you. You may want to try another computer.
or if the above article does not resolve the issue

If this still occurs please call Apple for further assistance

  • I am having this error when syncing by wifi:This ipod can't be synced unknown error (-50) occured

I get an error (This ipod can't be synced an unknown error -50 occured) when i try to wifi sync my ipod touch 4{ios5} . I have installed itunes 10.5{windows 7} and checked the option sync via wifi and have synced by data cable. I can't figure out what the problem is itunes shows my ipod on wifi and sync also starts but in the end it gives this error.
    Any solution ?

I had this same error. It started when I was performing a USB sync, and unplugged the iPhone prematurely.
In any case, this procedure solved the problem for me, too.

  • My mac pro says "It can't be synced because this computer is no longer authorised for purchased items that are on this iPad.

But when I de-authorise and then re-authorise it says it's already authorised and then the same window pops up saying  "It can't be synced because this computer is no longer authorised for purchased items that are on this iPad.
    Battled all day.
    Removed the SC folder,
Checked iTunes log in is correct.
Checked Itunes is the same country.
    Restarted both devices.
    Tried different usb ports
    Any ideas?

I found the solution to this problem
the apple service helped me actually
the best and the esiest way is to solve this problem  :
create a new account (as an administator recomended)
Bonjour servises must be enabled ( go to control panel > administartive tools> sevices> Bounjour services (change the category to large icons if you dont see administartive tools )
    install itunes
    sign in
    authorize
    SYNC
    it must sync normally
but if the meesage pops up that points on a particular items that could not be synced ( to ur itunes because you are not authorized for this items ) REMOVE THEM
creating a new user account shows the items wich dont let you sync your iPhone
after you REMOVE those **** items that were not authorised , you can go to your old user account and SYNC it as old kind time
was having this problem 2 weeks , and nothing helped except this was. not deleting the SC Info folder, now copying apple folder to some other mobile divce folder
REMEMBER  the problem is in your iPhone , it is about the items that are in your iPhone
    Thanks to Apple service

  • Can no longer sync Photos from Airport Disk

I can no longer sync photos from my Airport Disk to my tv.
This used to work fine- When I first got the tv I checked the "sync photos from" option in the photos tab in iTunes, navigated to my network drive/ pictures folder and hit sync. The photos slowly copied over.
Just this week however, I went to add some new pictures and iTunes/ tv no longer sync. The status bar just spins saying "Syncing"...I have left it overnight with no change.
I have recently updated to the latest version of iTunes and Airport Extreme firmware, but that is about it in terms of changes/updates. Anyone have any ideas?
    - Firewall is off
    - Permissions seem ok on the Airpot Disk. Everything is read/write
    - I have rebooted/ reset/ re-synced everything. It just hangs on Photos. Music etc go over fine.
    Specs:
    iMac G5 PowerPC
Airport Extreme N base station with OWC USB drive attached as airDisk
tv 1.0 40 gig - using ethernet connection to router
    iTunes 7.4.2
I am really stumped! I think that the airport disk permissions or mount are still suspect but dont know what else to check.
Does iTunes spit out a log or write to the console? Any help would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    AC

I think I have figured it out, and photos are syncing now.
Here is what I believe happened: There is an iTunes generated folder called "iPod Photo Cache" in my "Pictures" folder on my Airpot Disk. This folder gets generated by iTunes whenever you designate a location for syncing. The "iPod Photo Cache" folder contains a file called "Photo Database".
It looks like the "Photo Database" had been corrupted. Deleting this file, or alternatively, moving my pictures to a new folder and letting iTunes regenerate the Photo Database fixed the problem.

  • I'm trying to sync my ipod classic with itunes but the error message says that it can't be synced because the required disck can't be found. What does this mean?

I'm trying to sync my ipod classic with my itunes library, but I get a message saying it can't be synced because the required disk can't be found. How do I find what this disk is? I have over 2,000 songs in my itunes library but only 497 sync. Help!

Could any of the music have been sourced on an external USB drive or a network drive? In iTunes, go to one of the songs that won't sync. Bring up the info page, and look at the location of that song on the disk. Does that file and path exist? That could be your problem, especially if they were on a USB drive you forgot about.

  • When Syncing, got error msg "iphone4 can not be synced as the required file can not be found", When Syncing, got error msg "iphone4 can not be synced as the required file can not be found"

i've upgraded to IOS5 and also my iMac to latest iTunes.
i now found Itunes frequently issued a error during syncing "iphone4 can not be synced as the required file can not be found".   i have connected the iphone4 to my iMac using USB (i.e., wired).   but without doing any thing further, i go to iTunes and just hit the button to "SYNC" the iphone4 again, it will work.
so, why am i getting that error usually first time around when i connect the iphone?

Hi folks. Am REALLY struggling here and hoping for some help. I too am constantly getting the 'iPhone can not be synced' message since upgrading to a new MacBook and trying to sync my iPhone 3GS. Have tried updating to latest iPhone software and hasn't helped. Have tried all the stuff mentioned above (dumping that file etc) and no luck. When I go to my sync page for photos, even if i un-tick the sync photos option altogether, this error keeps appearing. Very odd and very frustrating. Can't sync - seems to stall at last step of the process every time.
I'm guessing it is photo related as the pics on my iPhone are now all lowres and blurry, and it is asking for sync to iTunes to get high res images onto the phone.
Also have problem going the 'other way'! WHen I go to iPhoto on Mac and try to download new photos taken on iPhone.. I keep getting the message 'The following file could not be imported. The file is an unrecognized format."
    help please
    Nick

  • TS1627 Syncing Calendar from my iTouch via USB (sync services) is intermittently unreliable. I'm positively not interested in iCloud. Anybody in the same boat?

Today's immediate problem, described below, appears to be solved for the time being, but I expect recurrence based on past experience. I am not sure whether iCal, iTunes, sync services, or some combination are implicated. Does anyone know how to improve USB sync reliability? Is there a magic utility that can spot and repair trouble, or is there a more reliable system out there? A paper calendar maybe
Tonight I discovered a few events that hadn't made it from my iPod touch to iCal. Then I tried creating a couple new events and synchronizing. They remained on the ipod, but would not show up in ical. New events created in ical did get to the ipod though, quite consistently.
I eventually reset and restored my itouch. And reset sync services using terminal:
    % /System/Library/Frameworks/SyncServices.framework/Versions/A/Resources/resetsyn c.pl full
Finally I can get new calendar events entered on my ipod to sync to my mac again, but those that failed to sync before still refuse to show up in iCal. They just have to be deleted and re-entered... assuming I can find them all, which I cannot do with certainty, because I can't easily figure out how long the problem has been going on without me realizing it. I'll probably miss an appointment or two, make a few friends and colleagues unhappy. Again.
Current system details: Synching my iPod Touch (gen 4, iOs 6.latest) to my zoomy retina MBP, running 10.8.4. It's an all-apple setup, no third party apps or hardware involved.
The usual/recurrent problems I've seen with syncing the itouch to iCal are:
Events modified on the ipod will be unchanged in ical. Or more rarely, the other way around.
Related to the above, a dialog box will occasionally pop up asking me to resolve sync conflicts. Sometimes lots of them. Usually my ipod has it right, and iCal hasn't caught up. I wish all the errors were caught this way, because it's pretty easy to correct errors by clicking through this interface.
Events entered on the ipod fail to appear in iCal, or vice versa.
Events get replicated, sometimes repeatedly with subsequent sync. They multiply like tribbles.
I generally muddle through using Apple's help pages, run through a few suggestions from the forums (thanks all), and after a long night of resetting various things in various ways, the bit rot is at bay yet again. A month or two down the road, things go wrong in some slightly different way.
Most of the time I have a positive user experience, but it seems the sync zombies are always lurking just beyond the light of the campfire. Is Apple paying attention to sync services anymore, or have they put all their resources into iCloud? I have no interest in iCloud. I don't want another email address to get spam, and am not comfortable keeping my data in the cloud.

Never mind. Turned iCloud on, then off, on the iTouch - then the expected option appeared in iTunes.

  • IPhone Docking Station with USB Sync port AND Clock/Radio/Hi-Fi Function?

    Anyone know of any?
Had a quick google, just got shown loads of cradles.
Anyone seen any with all or most of the features I listed in the subject field?
(Main ones being USB Sync & play music through)
So that I can keep my phone in the one place and sync it from there.
(Obviously I know you can't sync and play music at the same time)
Or anyone know of any other similar solutions?

Airport Express USB port does not support data - only printers. You need the Airport Extreme if you want to share a hard drive.
I'd be interested to know if you can achieve your goal with one AE, although I'm starting to suspect that you need two AEs or you need to connect your original non-apple router to the AE via an ethernet cable. Hopefully someone will prove me wrong.

  • Apple certified cable for AV RCA out and USB sync with BMW car's COMBOX

My recently purchased Apple certified cable for AV RCA out and USB sync works very well with the PC and TV. I bought it to connect to my BMW car's COMBOX interface which is designed to connect to Apple products.
It doesn't even power up and BMW fails to recognize iPod, same combox works well with the original usb sync cable which came with the iPod but that doesn't have AV out so can't play music and video to the head unit. I think this could be due to low power coming from the car's USB, am I right to think this? If yes what options have I got to fix this? Can I supply additional power to iPod?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
I'm afraid that's to be expected in most cases, you need to turn your TV speakers off.
