Can't use any app utilities folder b/cNOT SUPPORTED ON THIS ARCHITECTURE
in my macs utilities folder under applications where you find things such as disk utility and system profiler i have a problem. i am unable to open any of them. none of them have icons. they all have an icon that looks like a piece of paper and the ruler, pant brush pencil, that make an A over it. i don't have any of the original icons. like this one for system profiler.

when i try to open one of them up i get a message that says YOU CAN"T OPEN THE APPLICATION (insert which ever app here) BECAUSE IT IS NOT SUPPORTED ON THIS ARCHITECTURE.
i have had my mac since 2008 and have not used any of the apps in my utilities folder.

That sounds like something has gone wrong with your system.
Do you have the original install discs?
Download the 10.5.8 Combo update from Apple.com, install it, and see if that helps.

Downgrading the iOS is not supported, and likely has caused the problems you are experiencing.
You'll need to go elsewhere for support.

Been using Firefox (many years) version 3.16.. Received invitation to download Firefox version 4 for Mac this morning and did so (regretably losing 3.16 version) because now the new version 4 won't open. I just keep getting the error message "You can't open the application "Firefox.app" because it is not supported by this architecture." I'm using the latest Mac OS 10.5.8. The processor is 1.8 GHz Power PC G5.
I trashed the first download and downloaded a 2nd Firefox version 4 and had the same results.

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. There is a third party version of Firefox 4 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox

This would indicate your trying to install a version for the Mac which require the Intel processor. (MacBook)
You need to install Skype for PPC Mac

Hello i can't use any apps on my iPhone and it keeps asking me to log on to iTunes anyone else having this problem

since this afternoon i can't use any of my apps on my iPhone it keeps asking me to log onto iTunes so i log on to iTunes and it just sends me straight back to log onto iTunes so tried to log onto iTunes on my mac and i have error code -50 anyone else had this issue

The health app wasn't presenting me with a request to access notifications. Strangely on the 4th or 5th time opening the app it did.

My mac become so slow i can't use any app. All the time there is sound of hard drive but no swapping is reported by system monitor.

recently my Mac after latest upgrade of Maverics 10.9.2 degraded performance dramatically to the point that when I switch from one app to another i should wait 30-40 seconds to get the response back from the System. The Hard drive is in use each time I click a mouse button. Sounds like an excessive hard drive usage usually caused by swapping. But System monitor shows Free memory ) Swapping and plenty of Idle CPU.
I tried to find the Process that might over uses the disk but all appear to be Ok. i couldn't spot any process that would over use the IO.
IO looks normal from System Monitor.
I checked the Apple Support whenever it is a defected hard disk issue but according to serial this Mac is not under disk replacement program.
Any tips on what should I do to find the root cause?

I have plenty of disk space 350 GB free.
I don't run excessive number of apps as you can see in top I have plenty of free Physical RAm plenty of idle CPU and IO is Ok too Swap is not in use means there is no lack of any resources
Even I f I quit all applications and use just safari the problem exists.

I don't run any MAc keeper like apps nor antiviruses . I don't trust them. I f I need to clean something I will do it myself
Happens in switch between all apps even between the tabs in safari
The only symptom I have so far is noisy hard disk
each time i switch apps or windows I hear hard disk doing something.
Makes me think it might be hard disk problem but fsck doesn't show any issue
no bad secktors etc.
According to all diagnostics everything is Ok

erjubama10, my wife just recently started complaining about a similar problem with her Unibody Macbook. She states that when she's plugged into the power adapter that the network is extremely slow.
I just have not got a chance to get the Macbook from her long enough to try to isolate the problem. If an when I do I'll post my finding. Until then I fully expect you to figure it out for me, LOL!

I always update to your newest Firefox configuration and did so when I was asked to upgrade to "Firefox 4" for the Mac. When I tried to access my account I receive the above message. I dumped the upgrade which wiped my Mac clean of all my bookmarks and again downloaded Firefox 4 but with the same result. Tried to switch to Safari but this too was unsatisfactory. I'm using MacOS 10.5 on an eMac (Power), had used Firefox before without any problem. I looked at the other questions and found an explanation: Firefox 4 on a Mac requires the Intel processor.
So, it can't work. You should have warned me, but now my old Firefox is gone. I have nothing, I'm stranded.

After downloading the firefox file to my g5 mac, the firefox app has a white circle with a slash, and the error says "you cant open the application firefox app because it is not supported on this architecture".

Firefox versions after 3.6 no longer run on the PPC processor. You can only update to the latest 3.6 release (3.6.23 at the moment)
