    Relax. Nothing is wrong.
    You accidentally tapped-and-held a little too long and you entered what many people call "jiggly mode" - i.e. app reorganization and deletion mode. When in this mode, you can move apps around on your various home screens, create and organize app folders, and delete apps (by tapping the X).
    Exit this mode by tapping your Home Button one time.

    Yes, if you have a balance on your iTunes account then you can use that for buying apps from the iTunes app store (or to buy from the iBookstore or Mac App Store, and music, films etc from iTunes) - you can't use your balance for gifting content or an amount to another person

    "Features" I can access
    "Top Chart" I can
    "Genius" I can
    "Search" I can search
    But
    "Updates" I can't access anything
    However, too many times I accessed it, At first it always shows "Loading" for 3 secs and then leave me a blank sceen and nothing else.
    What should I do?

    Try quitting the App Store app.
    Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the app in question until it wiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal. Then restart the app and see if it works normally.

    I can not access the Appstore on my macbook.  I have trawled through the discussions so I have tried restarting both Appstore and my macbook.  I have tried deleting the safari cache.  I have even tried reinstalling the combo of 10.6.8.  My iMac can access the Appstore on my home network.  I have tried using a different network both wired and wireless.  No joy even though the iTunes store is OK.
    All I want to do is upgrade to Mountain Lion because you have taken mobileme off air so my family can't access their subscribed calendars - important when I travel all over the world.
    Fair enough.  Get rid of DVD drives in your machines and force people to download.... but at least give them the opportunity.
    All in all a VERY VERY poor level of service and far below what I expect of Apple although sadly it appears becoming the norm.  I begin to wonder exactly why I pay the premium over Microsoft.  Same compulsion to upgrade.  Same poor service.
    Oh and my iPad can access the store too.  This seems to be a recurring problem - discussions date back years.  I am amazed that whilst Apple has the foresight to come up with the Appstore it doesn't have the gumption to get it to work.

    We are fellow users here on these forums, we won't know unless you tell us what happens when you try to buy something e.g. does the 'buy' button not work, do you get any error messages ... ?
    If you are getting a message to contact iTunes Support then you can do so via this link and ask them why the message is appearing (we won't know why) : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

    I Heard that you can use the appstore gift card or itunes to do inapp purchases since they serve as credit points in the apple store
    i think it could be since amazon appstore has amazon coins that do the same:
    1. Buying Apps
    2. buying inapp contents
    3. (or any hardware or others) not sure about this..
    so i thought it must be true of what ive heard,
    please confirm and if true, teach me how..
    cause i dont have a credit card and its kinda too much to ask others to borrow from others..

    iTunes and App Store gift cards are basically the same thing, both are redeemed onto your iTunes account and can be used to buy from the iTunes store, app store, Mac app store on Mac computers and the iBookstore - the cards that you shouldn't buy are Apple Store gift cards, they cannot be used with an iTunes account.
    When you've redeemed it onto your account then your balance should show in both the iTunes and App Store apps on your iPad, and your computer's iTunes. On my iPad it shows at the bottom of the Featured tab in the App Store app under my account id and at the bottom of the Music tab in the iTunes store app (or you can view your account via Settings > iTunes & App Store and it should show on the screen that you are taken to). On my computer's iTunes it shows at the top left of the store's pages next to my id, and by logging in to view my account via the Store > View Account menu option.
    If you are trying to download a paid-for item and you don't currently have a balance or other payment method on your account then you will be taken to the payment details screen so that you can either redeem a gift card or enter one of the other payment methods.
    To redeem a card onto your account you can use the Redeem button at the bottom of the Featured tab in the App Store app, or the Music tab in the iTunes store app, on your iPad. Or you can do it via your computer's iTunes, either via the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage
    Or by logging into your account via the Store > View Account menu option and selecting the payment details link on your account

    This worked for me:
    A few months ago I moved from NZ to London. For a while I kept using my NZ account on iTunes and on my iPhone to buy apps, but eventually I needed to start using the UK app store.
    The only info I could find on google was how to change your country in iTunes. That’s easy enough, using the country selector at the bottom of the screen. So now I can see the UK iTunes store, and everything appears in £. But when I’d try and sign in to buy something, I’d get an error message “Your account is only valid for purchases in the NZ iStore” and I’d get redirected to the NZ iStore. I couldn’t find much help online, and was about to sign up for a whole new UK-based iTunes account with another email address, until I found this help page:
    Changing your iTunes Store country:
    Sign in to the account for the iTunes Store region you’d like to use. If already signed in to an account, from Settings, choose Store and then View Account.
    Tap “Change Country of Region” and follow the on screen process of changing your region. Agree to the terms and conditions for the region if necessary, and then change your billing information.
    Once that was done, I could see and use the UK iTunes. But when I would surf the app store on my iPhone I was still seeing the NZ app store. The fix is to just download any free app. Once it starts downloading it, it realises you’ve signed up to use a new country’s app store and redirects you there.

  • IPod Touch, 1st generation, can't use iTunes or the App Store

    I have an iPod Touch running iOS 3.1.3. All of a sudden, I can no longer buy music off iTunes or apps off the App Store because the "Install" or "Buy" buttons shrink to a very small size (see attached screenshot) and do not respond when pressed. I have re-booted the iPod twice with no affect.
    Has anyone else experienced this sympton?

    Hi. Same issue as you guys. I'm quite new to Apple products, so it has come as a surprise to me that this issue has now been dragging on for well over a week. Nearly 2. Does anyone at Apple HQ take any notice of these message boards?? If so, an official response would be most welcome.

  • Can I use touch ID for App Store without using a passcode?

    It seems that the ony way I can use the touch ID for App Store and iTunes is if I have a passcode to get into my phone. I don't want a passcode, it get in and out of my phone too often to have to unlock it all the time and I hate manually typing in my password for App I buy. Why can't it do both, isn't the touch ID just as secure for purchases even if you don't have to unlock the phone to get to it??

    So yes, that's how it's designed. You must have a passcode, though as long as you understand the caveats:

    After restarting your iPhone 5s
    When more than 48 hours have elapsed from the last time you unlocked your iPhone 5s
    To enter the Touch ID & Passcode setting
    and
    You can't use Touch ID for purchases if Require Password in Settings > General > Restrictions is set to Immediately.
    you should be able to use Touch ID without needing your passcode. If none of those circumstances is true and you're still being asked for your passcode to make a purchase from the iTunes Store, it would seem that something is amiss with your iPhone.

    Apparently, there is a problem with Apple’s servers.
    According to Fly150 in another discussion, this will work.
    If you want to update the Apps while waiting for Apple to fix Updates:
    1. Go to App Store
    2. Select Purchased
    3. Select All
    4. Scroll down to find the Apps showing update
    5. Select update on the Apps
    This should update the Apps and get rid of the update count in App Store. Apple needs to fix this. It is a workaround only until then.
    You can also download the updates in iTunes on your computer and sync them to the iPad.

  • Can't use Quicktime, Mail or App Store after HD clone

    I managed to save my data after my HD became corrupted after frequent kernal panics. I took out the drive and managed to get it to mount on another computer before using Carbon Copy Cloner to transfer my data to another drive. Now, after formatting and restoring my data back to the drive, I am unable to open Quicktime, Mail or the App Store. I have tried opening the actual file from the Applications folder, but still no success.
    Mail: Unexpectedly quits when starting
    App Store: Starts but hangs when loading any information
    Quicktime: Won't start at all
    I'm testing other software, but if anyone has had this experience or has suggestions, please let me know. Thank you for your time.

    Benji, I did get the email server error message again last night around 8PM, but again the email does eventually go. Wondering if the 6PM to 9PM time frame is a busy time for Yahoo email servers and somehow our iTouch or portable devices take a lower priority? I seem to get the error only once a day now around that time, then everything seems fine again...could be a server issue.
    Still looking for a pattern with the blank white web pages when I try and view a previous web page. Seems to happen most when I look at the "iPod touch User Guide" (on the included bookmarks)...most of the other times the previous web page loads fine so....humm....
    I also had an issue with the Camera app today, the red light button and Picture/Video switch were staying dimmed...finally turned off the iTouch (holding down the Home button then pressing the Sleep/Off button on top) then turned it back on, so the iOS could reboot. That fixed the Camera app. Might want to try that too....seems like it might be a fix for a few things, especially after updating to iOS 4.2.1...

    After I updated my ipad, even if it is connected to the wireless network and the wireless network is working for other devices, I cannot connect to the internet with the ipad. I can't use safari or mail or facebook/twitter nothing works. I've already tried "reset network settings" option on the settings but it didn't work. Does anyone have any idea what to do?

    It didn't work but I read a lot in the site and finally I realize that the update changed my DNS I fixed it and it's fine now thanks anyway =)
