Can't use bookmarks in Reader 7

We have a 250+ page document that was originally created with InDesign (CS2). I used Acrobat 8 (CS3) to add links and create bookmarks. The pdf was saved with the property to open with bookmarks and pages. Then, security was added. We would like the document to be compatible with earlier versions of Reader.
When testing in Reader 7, the document doesn't open with bookmarks and bookmarks are greyed out as a menu item in Navigation Tabs. Tested the document on another computer as well. Removed the security and even changed the property to standard open. Nothing seems to work.
Suggestions, please.

I think your message was mis-directed to me. I posted a question yesterday in the "Discussions" form asking whether I could delete Adobe Reader 8.1.4, since I also have Adobe Reader 9.1.2. Just wondered if both were necessary, or if Version 8 had been replaced by Version 9. I can't help you with the "bookmarks" question..

How can I use the Adobe reader if the PDF documents are in iBooks?

The Adobe reader asks me to look for an "Open in" button but iBooks does not appear to have one. I like IBooks because it synchronises nicely with the computer, and I can read the PDFs but I cannot highlight, add comments or add bookmarks unless I use the Adobe reader.

Use iTunes to save the PDF FROM iBooks, and to add them to Adobe Reader.
Connect your iPad to your computer. Bring up iTunes on your computer.
To save a PDF FROM iBooks, click on "Books" in the Library section on the left. Select the PDF you want to save and right-click and choose Show in Finder (Show in Explorer in Windows). Go up one level in your computer hierarchy and you'll see all the "Books" (PDFs and eBooks) in iBooks. You can leave them here if you want to view the PDFs in iBooks in the future, or drag them to the Desktop.
To move the PDF TO Adobe Reader:
Return to iTunes. Click on the iPad on the left in Devices. Click on the Apps tab. Scroll down the the File Sharing section as shown below. Click on Adobe Reader. Click the Add button and select the PDFs you identified in the previous step. They'll be added to Adobe Reader

How can I use bookmark script to deselct sidebar option by default?

I am trying to include a User Friendly 1-Click link on my site to automatically bookmark a page.
Using the Ultimate Bookmark script this works fine in IE, but when the bookmarking window pops up it always has the "Load this bookmark in the sidebar" option pre-checked by default.
When testing the script I missed that point & took me quite a while to figure out what had gone wrong.
The thing is that while I may be fairly Computer Savvy, it must be be assumed that the vast majority of the visitors to the site are not, so what I want is to be able to deselect the Sidebar option by default, allowing the user to select it, should they want it.
Can I use a simple snippet of code in order to facilitate this?

Those page javascripts for "Bookmark this Page" either don't work for Firefox or automatically "check" the "Load this bookmark in the Sidebar" in Firefox (and other Gecko based browsers). A Bug was filed 10 or 11 years ago to address that "Load ... bookmark ... Sidebar" issue, but it was closed with WONTFIX. The developers feel that "fixing" that feature might create a potential exploit for Firefox users.
Best thing to do is under that "button" for other browsers, is put text along the lines of "Firefox users can Bookmark this Page using the Star or with Ctrl + D."

How do I create a PDF form for submission that can be used by Acrobat Reader only users?

I am attempting to create a PDF document in Acrobat Pro with fields that can be submitted (via email) by users using only Acrobat Reader.
I have tried changing the properties of the 'Submit' button, although I am not sure what I am doing wrong.
Can anyone please help?

I created a form using Adobe LiveCycle and added the submit via e-mail button. One change which I made was in the XML script I changed submission type to pdf, so that thepdf form itself would be e-mailed. This works fine if I use Adobe Pro 8, but when I tried the same using only Adobe Reader 7.0, it would not let me e-mail the form along with a message "This operation is not permitted".

Can I use APEX directly read/sync with the Oracle Tables ?

We have a Oracle Database to manage the design data.I am trying to setup a web-based front end using APEX to manage & monitor the parts ordering & logisitics.I want to drive the master data directly from the database without any export or data transfer ? Can I directly read or Link an Oracle tables from APEX application.
Also,once this is setup,I am looking for setting up some data entry fields to enter Purchasing & Logistics information.Hope I can achieve this using APEX !

Glad that I can use the existing Oracle db schema with APEX.I am not sure if there is any information as how I can connect or link my production schema to the APEX ! I was able to import .csv files & use XL data to create some test databases & play with APEX..but,I did try to go thru most of the instructions & guides to find how to use the production oracle tables,but,could not find anything particular...Please send me a link or material info.
I suppose I can then use which ever attribute or table data that is required to build the queries ! I am planning to use the production data to build the ordering & logistics application using APEX.Assume I can create new fields & columns for parts that will be ordered & capture/record the purchasing information like Purchase order numbers/Supplier Info/Target Delivery dates etc...

Satellite L670-DX1 - after SP1 installation can't use memory card reader

Since I have upgraded my Satellite L670-DX1 from Win7 64Bits to Win7 64 bits SP1 (2 days ago) I can't use my memory card reader anymore, it always says it is a bad card and I should better reformat the card, with any card.
Does anyone have a similar problem or even better a solution for me?

Sorry to hear that you lost what you wanted to keep a track of. Did you have Firefox sync on? With that you can be able to restore your bookmarks but apart from that it's impossible to my knowledge that you'll be able to restore deleted bookmarks.

How can I use counters to read the difference between two expernal pulse signals?

I generated a pulse signal and sent it to a sensor which in turn gives me a pulse signal back. I need to read the time from which the sent the signal goes high to the time that the signal is returned. How can I read this? the diagram is attached

The way to accomplish that is by using one of the 660x boards, and configure the counter to do "Edge Separation Method".
That method will increment the counter event count value every time a pulse comes into its source input. The counters only increments between the rising edge of the aux line and the rising edge of the gate. The current value of the counter is read when the counter is finished or an error occurs. You need to wire the out pulse to the AUX line, and the return pulse to the gate line of the counter.

How can we use C# to read dynamic parameter's value list from .rpt?

I'm using Cystal Report 2008. We know starting from CR XI we can create dynamic parameters, the list of items of this kind of parameter are fetching from database. So in general the SQLs to get the list of values for dynamic parameters are stored in the .rpt.
In Crystal Report Designer, if I preview a report with dynamic parameters, it will first query the database and then show the input dialog with list of values from database for user to choose. My question is can we implement the same thing by our C# code? I'm planning to use C# code to read this dynamic parameter's value list from .rpt and render them on the web page. Then pass back the user selected values to the .rpt to run the report after user make the choice. I didn't find any APIs can do this. Is it possible?

How can I use SAX to Read XML in JSP?

I created a class which extend DefaultHandler of SAX. I can use java to call this class and read XML data without any problems. But I can't call this class through JSP. Looks it didn't active startElement() when I called from JSP. Do you have any ideas on this case?

Can't use free download Reader

Reader xi dissappeared from our computer a year ago somehow. We tried to load the free Reader, but it takes over the icons on our desktop and we can't access any of these programs. The Reader program that came with our computer didn't do that. Whats up?

I would like to house my music on an external and not on my pc. Can I route iTunes this way? If so, what do I need to do special, as when I routed it, iTunes did not see the music files.

You need to either launch iTunes with the Shift key held down and create a new library on that drive, or set it not to import music to the iTunes Media folder, or use a program other than iTunes to play it.

There is vi called "Two Edge Separation Mesurement (NI-TIO).vi". In LV6.1 it is in "c:\...\LabVIEW 6.1\Examples\DAQ\Counter\ni-tio.llb".
Unfortunately this function has no timeout. This means that your program will hang on if there are no pulses. I have attached an improved version of this vi with a timeout(sorry for the french text in the description). There are also some other improvements like the calculation of the edge separation in seconds (not only clock counts).
This function will only work with NI-TIO cards (like 660x).
