Can't use dashboard. It launches my browser. Very strange.

Whenever I open Dashboard it starts up and after about a 1 second pause, it launches my browser. I can't use it or the widgets at all as I'm back in the desktop in my browser after 1 second. If I keep hitting F12 it will send me back to the desktop, opening a new browser window, as fast as I can hit it. It is the strangest thing I've ever seen and I wonder if it is something my daughter did when I wasn't looking.

1. Hot Corners you define for Dashboard or Exposé are saved in your Dock Preferences, i.e. the file com.apple.dock.plist in your Home > Library > Preferences folder.
Note:You will need to reconfigure your Dock after performing this procedure as it will reset the Dock to its default configuration. If you want a record your Dock setup before undertaking this procedure, take a screen shot of your Dock.
1.1. Trash the Dock preferences: com.apple.dock.plist in your Home > Library > Preferences folder. This file contains the settings for your Dock and any Hot Corners you defined for Dashboard or Exposé.
1.2. If you altered the keyboard shortcuts for Dashboard or Exposé in System Preferences > Dashboard & Exposé, the changes are saved in the com.apple.symbolichotkeys.plist file in your Home > Library > Preferences folder. Trash that file as well.
1.3. After trashing these files, either log out, then log in, to your account or restart your Mac.
1.4. Empty the Trash.
1.5. Reconfigure your Dock and any customization you performed in System Preferences > Dashboard & Exposé for hot corners and keyboard shortcuts.
Note: If you are running any Dock "hacks" or "add ons" you might want to disable or delete these as these can contribute to Dock problems.2. Given the other issues you described As a general check, run the Procedure specified in my "Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption" FAQ. Perform the steps therein in the order specified.

If you got someone else email than that's a BIG error and it has nothing to do with whatever client you are using. You send your credentials to gmail and they connected to another account, not even Google would like to do that.
Either you send the wrong credentials and then you happend to have the same password as this other account. Try using webmail on that account.
Change your password!!! If you can access that account he/she can access yours.

I incidently pasted a page that requires a password to my dashboard, now my dashboard automatically sends me to the internet and I can't use dashboard anymore.

How can I delete the page in dashboard if I it will not stay open? I can't use anything in dashboard becasue it keeps closing and opening the login page from the internet. I have tried logging in to the site that the page came from but that doesn't work/help.

Lifecam 3000 - Can't use Dashboard

Does anyone know if the Dashboard on my camera is compatible with Skype? I thought it would be fun to use the different effects when I make a video call but I can't get them to work during a video chat.

I've tried installing 6.1.199.130 and guess what - it auto updates to ver 7
Now it seems you can't downgrade to any version befoore ~6.21.
This means there's no way we can get our Lifecam dasboard effects anymore over Skype.
I mean it IS the same compnay that produced both....
How am I going to explain to my little granddaughter that she can no longer see me with massive eyes (her fav) or squished up face etc?
Please can any one suggest a solution?
- Is there a way to install and keep 6.1.199.130?
- Is there a promise to fix this
- Is there an alternative to Skype I can move over to?

You don't download anything at all. The feature is built into the iPhone 4 already. Your carrier has to support the feature and there might be an extra charge to use it.

I can't use the adress input to browse

Can't delete folder (or files in it) - VERY strange issue

ok i know there's been tons of questions about how to delete/force delete a troublesome file or folder. believe me, i searched, i've tried them all, and still, i couldn't solve it.
here's my problem:
a) 4 files, in a folder called "as".
- 06Jacksons Club "Sunspot".mp3
- 11_Novelette Conclusion" excerpt_Lisa edit.mp3
- 16_Green Tea At Denny_s _Mary P. _Aka High Places Singer, Bassoonist, Zine-Maker, BOO - The "P" Is For Pearson_].mp3
- 20_"Arrival In Benaras__ From Merchant-Ivory_s Film __The Guru__.mp3
b) things i tried so far, and what happened:
- using the terminal with sudo/rm. answers for a file: "No such file or directory".
- using the terminal with rm/sudo to delete the whole folder:
rm: /Volumes/Untitled/as/: is a directory ... is the answer i get, and it stays there, doesnt move
c) if i move it into trash, when i try emptying it, everything goes except for that folder and it's files inside, neither does force deleting it via the terminal make it disappear. the "crushing" noise is audible, but nothing happens. no errors or anything, it just stays there.
d) if i click on one of the files, they disappear (!!!). if i play around in finder and come back to that folder later, they're there again. the folder itself can be normally copied, renamed, moved around on the harddisk and everything. if i duplicate the folder, the dublicate is empty, unlike the original folder.
e) NO music player or anything else ever used those files.
f) they are 0 bytes each.
g) another note: the files and the folder are on an ext. harddrive. the harddrive is not faulty.
h) i even tried deleting them from a windows computer, which keeps saying the filenames are too long or invalid, and it wont work either.
i) the folder or the files are not locked, i have full read/write permission, i tried reinstalling several times, i also tried it from safe mode.
j) formatting the harddisk is NOT an option.
i would be very helpful if anyone could help me with this very annoying issue. i just want to see my trashcan empty for once.

Try booting to Safe Mode (hold down the shift key while booting, restart may take a long time but let it go), sometimes just doing that works. Restart normally.

Can I set the Apple TV 3 to launch a browser at startup?

Hi,
We want to use an Apple TV (A1469) to run a TV as a display screen. All we need it to do is open up a web page and display it (in fullscreen if possible, meaning no menu bar or anything). The website scrolls through various pages on its own like a powerpoint does.
Is there a way to set the ATV that when it powers on and boots up it can automatically launch the browser and then we can make the page we need the Home Page so it will just show that with no required interaction from anyone?
If not, what's the least amount of interaction I can set it to require if it comes up to a Home Screen. Can I make a shortcut directly to the page I want so it'd just be one click of the remote?

OK, so let me update this. I now see that the Apple TV doesn't even have a browser on it. How lame is that... Anyway, so I can still use a browser but have to use Airplay or something to get it to the TV. So now I have other questions.
1) Can I use airplay to cast a browser window to multiple TVs at the same time?
2) Once I start a website, does the Apple TV take over the site or if I close down my phone does the TV stop showing so the phone would have to sit there unused the whole time?
I guess maybe the Apple TV can't do what we want if this is the case so far...

Regarding using the File Generator in Motion 4, what type of file can be used? After clicking the browse button in the inspector tab,
all files appear greyed out and are not selectable.

Thank you very much. I changed the resolution from 2048 x 1152 to 1600 x 900, and it showed the bar with the Import, Media ... Create, Share buttons, but did not show the bar at the very top with the red, yellow and green buttons for closing, hiding and maximizing the window.
Then I noticed that Apple had an update to Mavericks available. Since I installed that, I can set the resolution back to 2048 x 1152 and still see the Import, etc. bar. I can live without the Close and Maximize buttons, but it does seem like there is a bug lurking here that either Adobe or Apple needs to fix.

Help I can't use my scroll

I can't use my scroll on my curve 9300 all I can do is call out and answer when someone calls me...I can't get to my menu or text messages nothing at all. All it does is stay on the top of my screen and doesn't move I have took my battery out for the 15secs and put it back in didn't do nothing I can even use the enter button either getting very frustrating with it please help me thanks

Since ur having 9300 Curve, then u have trackpad and not a scroll...
Try these steps, might help u out...
Do a battery pull restart(pull out the battery when ur BB is switched ON)...now press the trackpad n keep it pressed for 3-5 sec...repeat it 1-2 times n then reinsert the battery n let ur BB start...now, see if ur trackpad is working or not...even if ur trackpad starts working, this might be a temporary solution...
For permanent solution, visit a BB Service Center n get ur trackpad replaced...do take a backup b4 that cz after replacement, the OS will be reinstalled...

Used webclip and now can't access dashboard

I used web-clip (for the first time!). I guess there are some "bad" links on the portion I clipped because now everytime I access dashboard (be it from hot corner, launch pad, mission control) it flashes to dashboard but then immediately goes back to a desktop where safari opens to https://syndication.twitter.com/i/jot. I can't access dashboard long enough to remove the clip- or use any other widget there. How do I get my dashboard back?

This sounds like a known issue reported here:

There was a workaround posted, but I've not tested it myself. Here are the steps.
# Go into Yahoo Messenger Options - Change the Window in the dropdown to Tab and press OK.
# Then go back and switch it to small window and press OK.
Once the bug is officially resolved, you could try running a Nightly or Aurora build to use the fix early.
Hopefully this helps!
