Can't use eyedropper to pick colors

Hi. Anyone know why I can't use the eyedropper  to pick color from the images (quadtone psd) I'm using in my brochure  project? When I attempt to do this, the Fill box in my tools panel gets a  diagonal red line going through it.

Okay, I just double-clicked on the eyedropper to check settings and everything is checked including object and fill settings. It's weird. I can capture color using the eyedropper from a box I create and fill with color. But can't do the same with imported images of any kind. I just went back to an old job I did where I know I used the eyedropper to pick a color from an image so I could use it to color text and it didn't work.
I am guessing this is completely unrelated but I had a font issue the other day and dumped all my fonts into the trash and have been taking them back out a few at a time to identify if I have a corrupted font or not. Wanted to mention just in case.

  • Can't use mouse to select colors in color picker

When I am in the Color Picker pallet and using my mouse, I can not select colors from the field or use the verticle slider bar. I can use my up/down arrows to move the little round circle, which then changes the RGB numbers. I'm in Photoshop CS2 in Windows. I tried a new document and also restarted but its still not working. Help!

Which "Windows"? There are so many of them and if this is Win 7 vs. your old CS 2, any number of things could be going on from issues with graphics drivers to specifics in the way windows are handled in W7... In any case, as a minor try a different visual theme nad make sure your graphics card configuration and driver aree suitable...

  • How can i use eyedropper between two different art board.

    Hi
How can i apply the same color for the images in two different art boards with eyedropper.
I am trying to apply the same color from the image in one art board to another image in another art board.
Can any one help me please. Thanks
    Steve
    I am using Mac

    apresslink,
Presuming you are unable to use the Eyedropper Tool normally, in other words keep the target object selected while you pick up the colour, by having the Artboards open in adjacent windows to ClickDrag between (I am still with 10 which may explain at least part of my ignorance for which I apologize):
Until someone presents a smarter solution, you may cheat and create a carrier object beside the  source object, drop the colour in that, cut and paste it to be beside the target object, and drop the colour there. With multiple colours to drop multiple times, you may create a palette to hold them, to use just like a painter working on several canvases at the same time. Or you could paste diminshed copies of the source objects.

  • [SOLVED] vim can't use colorscheme from ~/.vim/colors

    Hello
I wanted to use the Molokai Theme for vim. So I downloaded molokai.vim from http://www.vim.org/scripts/script.php?script_id=2340 Copied it to ~/.vim/colors folder. In vim I enter :colorscheme molokai.vim but it can't find it.
Also install molokai-vim from AUR but still. E185: Cannot find color scheme 'molokai.vim'
    Any thoughts?

I'm sure I tried it with and without extension and it didn't work.
However after creating a .vimrc (didn't have one before) according to this:
    http://dthettich.tumblr.com/post/131989 … rc-molokai
    It worked.
    @WonderWoofy
The AUR package installed it into that directory.
    Thanks to all!

  • Sender file adapter - Can I use *.xml for the file name

    Hi Gurus,
I have some interfaces where I need to pick the file from a directory. The name of the file will have Data<i>time stamp</i> as the naming convention. Can I use *.xml to pick up my files from this directory?
The help.sap.com documentation says that we can use this naming convention.
    <b>
    &#9679;      File Name
Specify the name of the file that you want to process. The name can contain placeholders (*, ? (placeholders for exactly one character)) so that you can select a list of files for processing.
    </b>
I tried using *.xml for my file name in the communication channel, XI is not picking up this file.
Please let me know if you have the solution.
    Thanks
    Kalyan

    Murthy,
    Thanks for the reply.
I am using GuildFTP tool as my FTP server. In this tool, all the permissions were given for the file to pick up.
The status of the file is good.
Where in the file adapter configuration I have to select 'Read-only'?
The file adapter is working perfect with the exact name of the file.
    Thanks

  • Book Module Lightroom 4 -- can I use a color picker to pick a color from a photo to use as the backg

I am trying to match a background color for a page in a Blurb book using the Lightroom 4 Book Module.  Is there any way I can use the color picker to pick a color from the photo to use as the color for the background and as the type color?  I see the color box for these situations, but the color picker only seems to work with the color array that pops up and doesn't go to the photo.  Any suggestions?  Am I overlooking something very obvious?

    It works for me.
The usual Lightroom way: click the eyedropper onto the color palette first, then hold and drag to your photo to sample color.

  • Can't use the color from Eyedropper

Hi, so I'm studying Photoshop these days and I learned about eyedropper function.
The problem is when I used the eyedropper function, it seems the color was uploaded to the palette
but when I tried to brush with the color that I selected from the eyedropper, a different color appeared.
The weird thing is if I try to use the brush function on brown-ish background, the color brown appears on brush and when I try it on blue-ish background the color blue appears on brush,
Does anyone have some idea what's going on?
    Any advice will be appreciated!
    Thanks,

Check the Mode of your brush in the Option Bar:
Sounds like you may have it set to Luminosity or something.

  • Am I just crazy? Didn't there used to be a color picker?

So, as far as I can remember, there was a tool in Leopard that let you hover over any color in any application and find it's code to replicate it... I thought it was called Color Picker and looked like a little eyedropper with a color wheel behind it.
Now, I can't find it. I'm wracking my brain to locate it, but I can't.
My main objective is to get a color I saw on a website into Photoshop, but since I can't find OS X's built-in color utility to get the hex code, I can't get it right in my graphic.
Any suggestions on locating the Color Picker? Or on how to import colors from websites to my Photoshop swatches?

    Sed --
    I hope I wasn't one of the smarmy ones . . .
I really thought you just weren't seeing it.
When a user moves an app out of the place the system
expects to see it, it will ignore it.
In the past, a lot of users wanted to group all their browsers into one
folder they made themselves, called, "Internet apps." So Safari, Camino, FF, etc.
all went in that folder. When doing updates, the apps were not found free standing in the application folder, and they were ignored, i.e., never updated.
So the explanation you got makes sense to me.
EDIT: Maybe if you use it a lot, make an alias for it in the Dock where you can easily access it.

  • Choosing colors with eyedropper-it picks as background color

    Confused!
I have read the help and viewed   a Jan Kalibi tut on using the color picker and painting. The instructions say that the eyedropper tool is supposed to choose the foreground color, but...
If I choose the Eyedropper tool  it is  choosing and setting the background color instead of the foreground unless I hold down the alt key when the eyedropper tool is selected.
When using the brush tool I am supposed to be able to hold down the I key to temp move to the Eyedropper tool and select the new foreground color and upon release the tool resets to the brush, but once again the eyedropper is setting the background color instead, and the only way  I can change colors is to use the X key to switch the backgroung to the foreground color???
The only way I can get the Eyedropper tool to pick the foreground  color is to actually select the Eyedropper and hold down the alt key or if in a brush choose the I key hold it and choose the alt key at the same time which is quite akward .
Is there something wrong here or is it me.
No matter what combination of keys I use with the HUD color picker it will only set the background color choice and I have to use the X key to switch it to the foreground.
I thought it might be a problem connected to using the Open GPU  settings but turning that off doesn't change the general problem.
    Thanks in advance
    David

    Do this:
Click Window - Color to bring up the COLOR panel.
Note the black border around one of the two color icons at the upper left.  It's a little darker than the other one.  I'm betting you have it on the lower-right one - the Background Color.
Click the foreground color icon at the upper-left to move the black border there.  This will cause the foreground color to be sampled with the unmodified eyedropper tool from here on.

  • Access eyedropper in the color picker

    Hi!
    My question is simple:
Can I access the eyedropper when I'm picking a color in the color picker panel?
In Photoshop the eyedropper is on automatically whenever I hover my cursor over the document (while I'm in the color picker window). Is there anything similar in Illustrator?

No. You cannot sample colors from your doucument while you are in the color picker.
You need to exit the color picker and have the eyedropper as the selected tool.
Word of warning, holding down shift and sampling colors in your document is NOT accurate. The Shift sample uses the RGB values your monitor card is sending to your monitor, not the actual numerical values. So only use the shift eyedropper for ballpark color samples, not for anything critical.

  • Can you use color splash on a photo that was edited in black and white or do you have to mask the photo before editing it in black and white?

can you use color splash on a photo that was edited in black and white or do you have to mask the photo before editing it in black and white?

I think you are asking whether it makes an difference whether you create the mask before or after you edit the black & white version. The answer is that since the color version and the b&w version are on different layers (as seen here), it makes no difference when you edit the b&w version.
Also consider another technique that separates the color element in the image. Here, the area surrounding the color image is a line interpretation of the scene, similar to a Tone Line Conversion, a technique that was created with film many years ago.  (I am so old,  I still remember how it was done.) This is how to get the result similar to the one shown above but with a line illustration created in Photoshop replacing the b&w layer version:
    1. Open an image. This technique is more successful if the image you select has many clearly defined edges.
    2. Make a duplicate layer. (Cmd+J). It becomes Layer 1
    3. With Layer 1 chosen, go to Filter>Blur>Smart Blur. Set the Quality to High and the Mode to Edge Only. The default settings are Radius 3.0, Threshold 25.0. To increase the amount of detail in the line conversion, raise the Radius setting. Use the white-on-black illustration within Smart Blur as a guide. Then click OK.
    4. The line illustration will appear as white lines in a black background. To change this to black-on-white, choose Image>Adjustments>Invert.
    5. Insert a new layer below Layer 1. It will serve as the background for the line illustration. To do this, hold down the Command key while clicking on the New Layer symbol at the bottom of the Layers panel. It is the second symbol from the right. It will become Layer 2.
    6. Fill this new layer with a light color. To do this, click on the Foreground Color symbol in the Tools section. It will open the Color Picker. Choose a light color and click OK.
    7. Choose Edit>Fill. Use: Foreground Color.  Mode: Normal. Opacity: 100% and click OK. Layer 2 will fill with the color. Although it will not appear in the image because Layer 1 is above it, a quick check of the Layers panel will confirm that the color you chose has filled Layer 2.
    8. Remove the white area from in Layer 1. Go to Layer 1. Choose the Magic Wand tool. Uncheck the Contiguous box in the Options Bar and click in a white area of the image. Next, click the Delete key.  Choose Select>Deselect to remove the marching ants.
    9. (Optional)  You may now change the line illustration in Layer 1 from black to a dark color compatible with the color in Layer 2. To choose the color, click on the Foreground Color symbol in the Tools section. It will open the Color Picker. Choose a suitable dark color and click OK. While in Layer 1, click the first symbol next to the word  Lock:  in the Layers panel above Layer 1. This will prevent the dark color from appearing in the blank area of Layer 1. Choose Edit>Fill. Use: Foreground Color.  Mode: Normal. Opacity: 100% and click OK. The black lines will change to the dark color you chose.
    10. Combine Layers1 and 2: While in Layer 1, choose Layer>Merge Down. The layers are combined into a single layer called Layer 2.
    11.  Add a black mask to Layer 2 by clicking on the Mask symbol at the bottom of the Layers panel. It is the symbol to the right of the fx symbol. Where you would like full color objects to appear within the line rendition, paint in white on the black mask with a brush set to either soft-edge or hard-edge as the illustration and your taste dictate.

  • How can I use the color adjustments interface that shows up for camera RAW on jpeg files?

How can I use the color adjustments interface that shows up for camera raw on other files types? The HLS controls had the secondary color adjustments (6 colors instead of the 3). Plus, it had same vibrancy and a better Curves interface. Yesterday was the first time I imported raw into Photoshop CS5 and I got that really cool interface. What is that? Can I use that on other file formats?

Actually I am using the Tradional Chinese Version, when I try to edit the jpg file with camera raw, the system shows that there is no camera raw plug-in. The cmaera raw never work.
