Can't use iCloud in iOS 8 simulator

I have upgraded to Xcode 6. When I try to use my Apple ID in iOS Simulator (any device) to configure iCloud I will get the following error message: "Device Not Supported  Your Apple ID is valid, but this iPhone is not qualified for iCloud". I have enabled the two factor authentication on my Apple ID. Any hints or tips are welcome!

Same here. I tried it with my son's account though, who does NOT have 2-factor set up and got in no problem, so that seems to be the issue.

  • Can't use http in ios 8 simulator

I have installed xcode 6, on a mac book pro (Maverick 10.9.5) When I try to use the ios simulator running ios 8 on virtual iPhone 5s, and try to connect to any site that is not using https, I get a blank page stating that "Safari cannot open the page because the network connection was lost" in the simulator. Any page that uses https works fine.
    Any clue ?

I have Xcode 6.1.1 and I'm still having problems.  http and https both.  It's not just safari either.  Other applications can't access the network either.
Could these errors give any additional information?

Sometimes I can get it to work and sometimes I can't.  I am getting very frustrated with the instability of the network connection on iOS 8 simulator.

  • Can I use iCloud on my Windows 7 pc when I don't have any other devices

I only have a Windows 7 pc and a Windows 8 laptop.  Can I use iCloud on these two devices.   I can't find anywhere to open an iCloud account.

You can only create iCloud account on an iOS device (iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch) running iOS 5 or higher, or on a Mac running OS X Lion (10.7.5) or higher.  After creating your account on one of these devices you will then be able to sign into the account using your iCloud ID on your PC.

  • Can I use iCloud to store photos I want to delete from my iPhone 5s?

    Good day.
I want to free up space on my 16G iPhone 5s.  All of my photos are stored on iCloud, however, when I delete a photo from my iPhone 5s, it also deletes in iCloud.  Is there a way to use iCloud as a way to store photos that I don't want on my iPhone any longer, but I want to save?
Note:  The photos on my iPhone 5s are all on iPhoto on my iMac running OS X Yosemite 10.10.3.  I have not opened the "photos" app which appeared on the doc when the system upgraded to OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 as I'm not sure how this will affect the whole "delete from my iPhone, but keep in iCloud" dilemma.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    C. Gray

iCloud isn't designed as a cloud-only storage method. The closest you can get is to change a setting to optimize storage on your iPhone so that a smaller "device-size version" is kept on your phone. See the quote below from iCloud Photo Library FAQ - Apple Support
Can I use iCloud Photo Library to save space on my device?
iCloud Photo Library automatically keeps all your photos and videos in the original, high-resolution version. Follow these steps to choose how you store your photos and videos on your device:
In iOS, tap Settings > iCloud > Photos or Settings > Photos & Camera, then select a storage setting.
In OS X, click Photos > Preferences > iCloud, then select a storage setting.
If you turn on Optimize [device] Storage, iCloud Photo Library will automatically manage the size of your library on your device, so you can make the most of your device's storage and access more photos than ever. All of your original, full-resolution photos and videos are stored in iCloud while device-size versions are kept on your device. You can download the original photos and videos over Wi-Fi or cellular when you need them.
If you turn on Download Originals, iCloud Photo Library will keep your original, full-resolution photos and videos in iCloud and on your device. Download Originals is the default setting for iOS devices with the free 5 GB storage plan and for all Mac devices.

  • Can i use icloud on android for itune apps

Can i use icloud on android phone to use snapsave and other purchased apps from itunes?

No.  You can only sync iCloud contacts and calendar on an android phone using
SmoothSync for Cloud Contacts and SmoothSync for Cloud Calendars, as well as set up your iCloud email account on an android phone using these settings: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864.  You can't use iCloud to use apps purchased from iTunes as they only work on iOS devices.

  • Can i use iCloud for pages documents iMac?

can i use iCloud for pages documents iMac?

    Hi lmdavis72,
    It looks like you can.
From "iCloud: Documents in the Cloud overview"
You can download a document from icloud.com/iwork to your Mac or Windows computer, edit it, and then drag the revised version to icloud.com/iwork. It’s then automatically updated on all of your iOS devices. You can also drag an iWork ’09 (Keynote, Pages, and Numbers) or Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel) document created on your computer to icloud.com/iwork.
So it looks like it can go between iOS devices and your iMac.

  • HT4859 can I use icloud to backup my mac?

can I use icloud to backup my mac?

iCloud does not provide general file storage, nor backup for Macs (only iOS devices): and if as your signature states you are running 10.4.11 you can't use iCloud at all except in the single case of being able to access email on a pre-existing iCloud account.
If you want online storage/backup you will need a third-party alternative - this page examines some options, but note that it's likely that they all require a reasonably recent system:

If you're referring to the iCloud.com website for you account there are no photos there.  Photop Stream is only for syncing photos between iOS devices and Macs.

  • Can you use icloud to restore settings on a 4s to a 5?

Can you use icloud to restore settings on a 4s to a 5?

Yes.  Just back up your 4S to iCloud, then restore your 5 to that backup.  Note: your iPhone 5 will need to be running the same or higher version of iOS as your 4S in order to restore to the backup.

  • Can't upgrade to 10.7.5, can't use iCloud

Hi there, I recently got a new iPhone 4 and wanted to use iCloud on it. Unfortuanatly, I cannot upgrade my computer to 10.7 and can't use iCloud because I am stuck on 10.6.8. Is there anyway to use iCloud on Snow Leopard? If not, is there a way to upgrade to lion on an Intel Core Duo iMac WITHOUT ROARING CORE. And if there is not a way to use the Snow Leopard MobileMe preferance pane to substatute for iCloud? Please let me know as soon as possible.
    Thanks

The MobileMe preference pane is completely useless. You can't connect your Mac to iCloud to do the full range of syncing and other facilities. You can make limited use of an existing iCloud account:
You will be able to access email and calendars on the iCloud website at http://icloud.com provided your browser is reasonably up-to-date (the current Snow Leopard version of Safari works OK, and the latest version of FireFix runs on Snow Leopard).
You will not be able to sync contacts or bookmarks from a pre-Lion Mac.
You will be able to enter the server settings for email manually in the Mail application and access your email. A pictorial instruction page on doing this is here.
You will not be able to sync your calendars directly.
Some people have been able to set up calendar syncing by using the method detailed here - this is an unsupported hack and may not be reliable, and may stop working at some future point. (See below for alternatives.)
Address Book won't sync: this page has a convoluted hack to make it sync which has been reported as working (and as not working by others). I've not tried it. (See below for an alternative.)
There are a couple of alternative syncing services you might like to consider, though they're not particularly cheap:
Soho Organizer can sync Calendars and Contacts with iCloud on Snow Leopard. A single user licence (multiple machines allowed) is $99.99.
Fruux syncs Calendars, Tasks and Contacts between a wide variety of devices (not using the iCloud server) including Snow Leopard and above, Windows Outlook and Thunderbird, Linux Thunderbird, and iOS and Android devices - see their compatibility chart(click the blue 'i' for a caveat about Snow Leopard). It's free for one user, two shares, two devices; above that pricing starts at $20 per month.
(I have no connection with these firms and have not tried their products, though both have had good reports.)
