Can't use ICS files in email

One of my pet peeved about the iPad / iPhone calendar is the fact that you cannot accept invitations sent from iCal. The attached ICS files in email messages, if clicked, return "Mail can't read this attachment" even though the iPad User Guide specifically says you can do this, IF you're subscribed to an Exchange Server account. So, in other words, Apple's iPad Mail and Calendar apps support MICROSOFT's calendaring application, but not APPLE's own system. How does this make sense?
Since this issue isn't resolved in iOS 4.1 on my iPhones, I have to assume it won't be resolved in the now-delayed 4.2 iPhone + iPad update either, though I suppose I can hope. For dog's sake, let's get this oversight cleared up as soon as possible.
And yes, as many others have said, we should be able to swipe to change calendar pages on the iPad. I can't believe Apple's own app neglected this most basic iPad functionality.

IOS 4.2 is not delayed.
Only time frame announced by Apple was November.

This problem developed two weeks ago. I can still use Google Chrome for email OK but have used Firefox since your first release and want to continue to use the best browser. I removed Firefox, downloaded a new copy today, and re-installed. Same results. When I try to write an email message I get a divided screen and cannot write in the top half. There is no active button for browse to add an attachment. I use Firefox at home on several machines with no problems. This machine is still using Windows XP Pro, but has been very reliable until now. I suspect a corrupt version of the write page is hidden somewhere in my system and removing the install did not remove it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If I read your question right, yes.
My pad has two e mail addresses, and my phone has a phone number as well as a e mail address. For each device you can add additional 'receive at' addresses in settings.
Note, when you add a new address, apple will send an e mail to that new address that you need to respond to, to show that it is a valid address. So look in the inbox of that e mail account for the verification e mail. Note further, some spam filters think that the verification e mail might be spam, so if it does not show up in your in box, look in any spam file you might have.
in my case, the verification e mail came within a few minutes of declaring the new address.
The multiple address are useful if you have more than one device under your apple id, and want to be able to send stuff to that particular device.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only Guest login created by Find My Mac.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in Mac OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The Guest login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

How can i use my files(apps,media) from my main os to another os in one mac?

When yosemite was released, i was excited to install it but the problem is that i don't want my main os to be compromised because i think that yosemite is kinda new and it's only 10.0 version and Dota 2 does not work on Yosemite and it's very unstable according to Steam forums and many other sites. My main OSX is still mountain lion and the only os x version that makes dots 2 stable. What i did is I partitioned my hard drive into two one for my main os and one for yosemite. Now i have two os x on my macbook pro. Now the problem is i don't want to install Logic Pro X again and re-download many samples and stuff. When i open the finder in Yosemite, i can see my mountain lion disk where all my files located at? Can i use those files without copying it because my yosemite disk is only 40 gb and my projects and sample audios is 60 gb and open apps from that disk to yosemite? Thanks. Sorry for the long text. Unfortunately, when setting up a new/replacement printer, you wont be able to use the same email address, nor can it be transferred to another printer. Once an email is used, the email address itself is not able to be used for a certain period of time (which I believe is 6 months).
However, by creating a new email address, but adding an 01 or 02 at the end, you can get something very similar to what you had previously.

Thank you! Thank You! Thank You!!! I have been arguing with Comcast for 6 months on this. They told me to uninstall and reinstall Firefox. Then I found this website and there was my solution. It worked. It was annoying that they told me to use internet explorer. The worst part is I pay them monthly. Well, as soon as my contract is up, I am done with Comcast. They still haven't figured out why my favorite stations aren't coming in. Funny thing is my roommate has Direct t.v. with no problems. At half the price. See ya Comcast. i had seen at many places that restrictions can be there depending upon whether the file is local or in the broadcast file system.

Don't use the "file://" URL.
If you want to address files which are part of an application, either address them by opening a file or via a resource. For example, a file called "example.xml" in the base directory of an application can be accessed by either
a) new FileInputStream("example.xml")
b) put the directory containing the file in the application's classpath and then access the file by Class.getResource("example.xml")

How can I use my old MobileMe email address if I did not migrate to icloud by the deadline?

I had a mobile me account that I did not migrate to icloud. Now when I try and set up an icloud account using the old mobileme email address, it says that address is already in use. I then try and access it but the password doesn't work and it says mobileme is closed. When I try and reset the password, it says an email has been sent to the email on file...which is an old mobileme address that I cannot access.
How can I get this email address set up in icloud?

So here are the details in case, you can spot something more I could do....
When MobileMe was live
MobileMe ID was [email protected]
AppleID (to make iTunes purchases) was [email protected]
When iCloud went live (and MM was still alive)
iCloud account was created based upon AppleID - [email protected]
iCloud would not create [email protected] as was already in use (by me)
iCloud would not merge [email protected] as iCloud does not merge
MobileMe migration to iCloud option was not taken
Deleted all data out of MobileMe account (mail, calendar, contacts, gallery)
Deleted MobileMe mail account off of all devices
When MM died
I received notification that I had not migrated my MM account
iCloud was happily working as Contacts/Calendar sharer using my AppleID of [email protected]
Weeks later on Mac running 10.8
System Preference - iCloud, already logged in with AppleID of [email protected]
Then ticked the untick Mail box
Long wait with small grey whirling cog box, stating "Loading". Eventually a BLANK message box with OK which then disappeared on a timeout.
System Preference - Mail... Re-added [email protected] (now picked up as iCloud account)
Mail - Accounts.... Re-added [email protected] BUT got message "Mail can'y connect to the account..."
So tried logging into www.icloud.com (using AppleID of [email protected] where my contacts/calendar now reside). Clicked on Mail icon and received "@me.com Address Needed" message

I can't download powerpoint files from emails on my ipad

I can see the powerpoint file in the email, but it won't download. Same for ppt and ppx files. I've downloaded keynote, but no change. It's a new thing as I have downloaded ppt files in the past. Size doesn't appear to be an issue as I can't open a 'single slide' attachment either. When you tap on the file, it thinks about it for a while and then nothing happens. Can anyone help? I tried the Apple store, but they can't. Am at a loss.

How are you trying to access the powerpoint? I know you said this worked in the past but just trying to get some additional info here.
Are you using the native email app on the iPad or logging in to a web-based email program? If using the native app, can you login to a web-based email and try opening the powerpoint in that manner to see if it works?
If so, it's an issue with the email program and would help narrow down the issue.
