Can't use iTunesU with 4th Gen iPod Touch?
I want to use iTunesU but it requires iOS 7. I'm on an older iPod Touch 4th generation and it won't let me update to iOS 7. What can I do? Is there a version out there I can use?

Interesting, the main page does say 3rd & 4th gen nanos, but the Bomberman page doesn't. However some of the other games I checked randomly do say 4th gen nano.
If I were you, I'd contact Hudson Software - the makers of that iPod click-wheel game. -
Issues with 4th gen ipod touch that I did not have with 1st gen
Got the 4th gen touch, and right away the most annoying thing was the pause in my music when locking/unlocking the ipod. It is a small pause, but nevertheless my 1st gen touch never had this. Is this an issue with all newer ipods or just me?
The battery is also funky, as it will run down to 3% and then the ipod turns off. Plugging in the ipod to charge turns it back on in a few minutes, as expected, but it always shows 40-42% charged when the unlock screen shows up. Do ipods quick charge to 40% from empty in 10 minutes or so?
Are these things fixable by Apple, and would I lose the engraving on the back?
The pause has been with me since I first started using the ipod. The battery issue possibly also, but I recently noticed it. A full reset, without restoring the 1st gens settings did not improve anything.I can answer a few of these. I don't know about the pause. The battery doesn't surprise me. The new apple devices are infamous for having battery life issues. I don't think there is anything apple can do but if you take it in, you can choose to keep or give up your engraving. Keeping it will extend the repair time by a week or two.

Question about buying a used 3rd or 4th gen ipod touch.
I'd like to purchase a used iPod Touch for my child. I need capability to download/play songs from iTunes, download apps like games, and text message. Would a 3rd gen work? What should I consider when deciding between a 2nd, 3rd, 4th generation? This is for a 10year old so I really don't want to buy anything new or fancy or spend too much $$. Thank you!
- I would not get a 2G. They can only go to iOS 4.2.1 and very many apps need a higher iOS.
- A 3G can ony go to 5.1.1 and now oy a few app require a higher iOS
If you get a 3G, make sure it is realy a 3G and not a 2G. They look alike

How do I save an imovie project that I can't export from a 4th gen ipod touch?
My daughter created a movie in imovie. We can't get it to export. It says that there isn't enough space left. I have deleted everything off the touch except for imovie. When I started there were 1.2 gb free. For some reason it went down to 110 mb free. I have it back up to 956 mb free. I have no idea what is taking up all the space. Did it partially save another copy of the movie? I just want to save her movie for her, she's 10 and is extremely upset. The movie is almost 45 minutes long. I thought maybe I could cut in half and export it as 2 movies? I have no clue what I am doing. If you can either help me export the movie OR free up space on the ipod I would greatly appreciate it. Connect the iPod to your computer and launch iTunes. It will show up under Devices on the left part of the screen.
Click on it in devices and a serries of tabs will appear in the next window. Under the Summary tab you can backup the device to your computer. The other tabs allow you to sync to or from the iPod to the computer or computer to iPod.
Your goal is to remove apps and data from the iPod until you have enough room on it to finish and export the movie. Once you've shared it to iTunes you can remove it from the device to free up space and restore your data from the backup. -
Will iCloud work when iMac (1.83 GHz. Intel Core Duo) is running Mac OS X 10.6.8 with 4th gen. iPod touch (iOS 6) because unable to upgrade to Lion due to processor's inablit to meet Apple's specifications for Lion? My family had three iPod touch (iSO 6) devices and currently use iClou, but set it up with a Macbook Air using Lion- but yesterday it died. Is there any way to retain the use of oPod touh devices, iTunes purchases, and iCloud services (and the huge amount of money spent on the) if not able to use the Macbook Air? I know the iMac is "old" but do not have thousands of dollars to purchase new computer at this time.
10.7.2 or later is required to use iCloud on the computer. Your iPod Touch, however, would have full use of iCloud.

button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

Any help would be greatly appreciated here.Assuming that the larger device would fit inside of the casing, yes. However, I'm not aware of any such drives. You may have to do a bit of digging around online to see if you can find out any more info.

Have a Macbook Pro and a 4th gen iPod Touch. Downloaded and install iOS 4.3.2 yesterday. Upgrade went without a hitch, but now iTunes on My Macbook Pro will not open. I get an error that says --The file "iTunes Library" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes--. I am running iTunes 10.1. I searched for Updates to my MacBook Pro (running 10.6.7), but comes back saying no updates available. WHAT IS GOING ON??
Is your computer still authorized in the Store menu in iTunes?

When I changed to my new MacBookPro I had to authorize it although I used TimeMachine to transfer my settings and data.

I need help viewing my photos on my 4th gen iPod Touch. When I choose the "photos" icon, I get a screen called "albums". At the top of the screen, sort of shadowed behind the word "albums" I can see a thumbnail of where my pictures are. What can I do to get back my "old" view of my pictures?

JudyBring up the Multitask bar by double clicking on the home button, search for the photo app icon, tap on it until it starts to shake, hit the minus icon in the left corner to close the app.
Close the task bar again and start the photo app again, this time it should work. -
This is really frustrating. Every time i try to sync my 4th gen ipod touch itunes won't recognise it and the ipod keeps beeping - is there anything I can do? I've tried using different cables. Itunes works fine with my family members ipod's & iphones...
The best way to manage your music when you have multiple iPods is to change the settings under "Options" so that you manually manage your music instead of it doing an automatic synch each time you connect. To add only the songs you want, highlight them and then "click and drag" them to your iPod. This way none of your daughter's music gets added and you're not in danger of deleting your playlist as well. It will show you how many songs you've added and you can then click on your iPod to verify. To delete her songs off your iPod now, click on the music tab under your iPod so show everything you have stored. Find those songs you want to delete, click on them to highlight then go up to the Edit window and click delete. This will erase them off your iPod but be careful when you highlight. I did that and then had to reload a cd on my boyfriend's, lol. hope this helps

Help needed to update a 4th gen ipod touch running version 4.3.5 (8L1) to the latest 6.0 version. When I connect and try to update i keep getting a box which states that a connection error occured and I cannot update.
I have been given a new laptop for xmas which runs on windows 8, and the new itunes version (which is in itself a hurdle as I am a technophobe!) and this is all becoming a bit fustrating.
I have connected, updated and synced my iphone successfully, but just hit a brick wall on the ipod. (which incidentally maybe where this laptop will end up!!)
Help if you can, but in laymans terms.......Thank you for you input so far.....

Let me get this straight...... I have paid for content on itunes, bought the apple devicds in order to play said content, now I have to subscribe $25 for the privilage of playing MY library content on MY other devices. Which wasn't such an issue to do before the new and improved itunes version!!
Have I got that correct. I think I cannot associate my other iOS devices with my library because I am unwilling to pay further through the nose!!!??? or am I missing something?

When synching by 4th gen ipod touch it skips the first step - backup-, does steps 2 through 5, then I get a message the ipod could not be backed up because a session could not be started with the ipod. How do I fix this? Do I have to restore my ipod? Will all my apps be erased?
You have to have an internet connection, either wireless or through a computer with iTunes. When you choose Software Update you can only update to the latest version for your iPod Touch, iOS 6.1.6
