Can't use my old HDD after upgrading with new one,old is GPT protected

Hi everyone! First of all I would like to thank you in advance!
Recently I upgraded my old HDD on my MacBookPro. I made a clone of the old disk, installed the new one in the MBP and putted the old one in external enclosure. Now I'm trying to use the old disk with the enclosure, but it doesn't appear in Finder, it appears in Disk Tools, but I can not perform any actions on it. I tried to erase it, but with no success! The old disk is GPT protected and I don't know what to do. Tried to erase it with Windows and Linux with no success neither. I know the enclosure works because it recognize every other disk, but my old one is untouchable to my Mac OS! I'm looking for possible ideas on how to make my old HDD usable with the enclosure?

There is no ICA driver for this model so you won't be able to use Image Capture or Preview. But there is a TWAIN scanner driver and the supporting MP Navigator application available for 10.8 from Canon, so you could try installing these and see if you can scan again.

Only the Apple ID used to buy an app can update an app. Apple does not merge Apple IDs and Apple does not transfer content biught with one ID to another ID.

First, iCloud: How to back up iCloud data.
Next, use iCal>File>Export>Export...for the calendar that you want to use for the export. Move the .ics file to your new computer, and double click the file. You will be offered a choice of creating a new calendar in iCloud, or importing to an existing calendar. Make the appropriate choice for your circumstances.

Can't use "like" or "reply" after upgrading to IOS 8 on 3rd gen iPad

I upgraded my 3rd Gen iPad Wifi to IOS 8, and later to 8.02 and now to 8.1. I did a complete Restore, using iTunes, and then after that, restored from my back-up on my computer. Just about everything is working great (NYTimes digital addition without additional fees for iPad, not so great but useable), but I can no longer get either "like" or "reply" to work.
Where have I gone wrong?

Try a reset. Press and hold both the home and power buttons 10-15 seconds till the Apple logo appears. Release both buttons. Wait 15-20 seconds until your iPad starts on it's own.

anyways ... JAVA_HOME and PATH variables can help ;)
do:
$ echo $PATH
$ echo $JAVA_HOME
they should point out to which java version shall be used
for N1SM ... I recommend to stick to JDK installed with N1SM, unless you know what you're doing ...
also latest JDK patches BREAK N1SM, since they remove symlink to old JDK, so cacao loaders become broken ... simply creating the symlink again workarounds this problem

You can use iTunes Match to make your iTunes library available on another computer, to either play or download the music to it. But iTunes Match doesn't have anything to do with pictures and other data, and it doesn't sync your iPhone with your computer.
If you are changing computers and have previously syncing your phone with another computer, you should copy the entire iTunes folder (not just the music) from your old computer to your new one using one of the methods explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4527. That will allow you to sync your phone with your new computer just as you did with your old one.

First, turn off iMessage, FaceTime & delete your iCloud account...you want to completely disassociate the phone from your Apple ID. Once done: Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings.

Can't use hard drive after replacing with new one

Disk Utility showed failed hard drive so a new Seagate ATA-100 160G was installed. I did the Erase and Journaling of the new HD. I went back to the installer to install OS10.3 and the HD now shows in the window for the destination volume. The problem is it shows an explamation point over the HD icon and if you select it the window says cannot install OSX on this volume. I placed the jumpers on the new HD exactly as the old HD had them.
What am I doing wrong?

I placed the jumpers on the new HD exactly as the old HD had them.
Jumpers vary by manufacturer and model. If you copied the jumper positions, and not their meanings, it will not work.
You need to place the jumpers to set the drive to Master, but use the diagram on the new drive (not the jumpers on the old drive) as your reference.
I apologize in advance if you have, in fact, copied the sense of the jumpers rather than their positions.

How to install OS X after HDD was replaced with new one?

I got new 500G HDD in my mac. After i have started it with C pressed selected <Use English as the main language> Then <Welcome to Mac Installer> Then <Software License Agreement> Then<Select a Destination> but there is nothing to select, there is no destination volume at all.
Could some one tell me what i need to do to install OS X.

Most drives come MS-Dos, we need HFS+ to install AND GUID Partitioning if an IntelMac.

1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the Erase tab.
4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
6. Highlight the drive, select Erase Tab, then Format type... MacOS Extended Journalled, select the Security Options button, choose Zero Out Data, Erase... after completion hopefully you'll be able to install.

Replacing old Time Capsule Drive with New one...how?

I recently purchased a larger hard drive to be my Time Capsule drive because the current drive was getting close to capacity. Is there a way to migrate/copy/clone/move my backup history to this new drive or do I have to start from scratch. If I start from scratch then it was really no use having the other backups and I don't necessarily want two disks full of backup data. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Did you purchase a 1TB Time Capsule to replace your 500GB TC or did you simply purchase a larger USB HDD to connect to the previous TC?
If the former, I don't know the best way to clone from one NAS to another NAS. I don't believe Disk Utility works, so it'll need to be a third-party app that can perform that function.
If the latter, you should be able to clone the TC internal HDD to the USB HDD via AirPort Utility -> Time Capsule -> Disks -> Archive. This will erase any data on the USB HDD as well.

My new shuttle asks me for an old id eventhough setup with new one

I have a new shuttle. I had another shuttle maybe 10 years ago. With the original shuttle my ID was a comcast email with which I am sure I bought songs from the apple store. During the 10 years I have had at least 2 nanos and 2 iphones all of which my ID was changed to an att email name. I now have a new shuttle and an iphone that both use the new att email id. When I use the shuttle and not the iphone the shuttle comes up that I have 40 songs associated with the old comcast email and asks for authorization. I tried responding to this, but apparently I have the wrong password from 10 years ago. When I go through the procedure "forgot" password I am asked for my birthday and when entered I am not recognized. So why is this happening? How can I find what songs are not authorized registered to the comcast id? How can I change these songs to the new id? Why does this not happen with the iphone for the same songs? Thanks.

There is no easy way to do this.
You can take all of the apps and music off the phone and sync bits back to the phone to determine which song/app requires the other Apple ID.
You could also try viewing the properties of each download in iTunes to find out which Apple ID made the purchase.
In iTunes go to your library > Click on a app or song > Right Click > Get Info > Summary view which Apple ID made the purchase.

Office Jet 8600 Pro gives repeated message of depleted ink after replacement with new ones

My OfficeJet 8600 Pro (n911a?) gives a repeated message of depleted ink levels (Cyan and Yellow) even after I have replaced them with genuine HP 951 ink cartridges. I am certain that I have installed them correctly (I have done this in the past with no problems) and I have turned the machine off and on again several times. I have checked firmware and software updates and it appears that everything is up to date. Any other thoughts?
