Can't use pacman, tons of libtool errors spam my screen.
I get this when using yaourt (doing anything), and also when installing/removing packages with packman:

If I try and install libtool, I get this huge ass amount of errors:

Man, I feel dumb. That worked, but any idea what was going wrong in the first place? I hadn't done any updates or anything, it just seemed to happen out of nowhere.

My severely aged iBook G3 seems to have lost its visuals. The screen is dead. I hear the hd spool up and everything seems to be working I just can't see... I have a G5 iMac. Can i use the iMac as a monitor so that I can see to back up my iBook HD or can i share so that my iMac can see the iBook??? My banking/scheduling are on the iBook so I'm a bit stressed. HELP!That's a terrible way to do an emergency shutdown, and it could cause hard drive damage. The proper way to do a forced shutdown is to hold down the power button for 5 to 10 seconds. Even that can cause problems for the hard drive.
If the Host computer has the same or newer operating system as the iBook, use Disk Utility (Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility) to select the hard drive of the iBook and repair it. Then open Disk Utility from the hard drive of the iBook and repair permissions on the iBook's hard drive.
If the Host computer has an older operating system than the iBook, use the Host's computer optical drive and Disk Utility from the Install disc for the OS of the iBook in order to repair the hard drive. Then open Disk Utility from the hard drive of the iBook and repair permissions on the iBook's hard drive. -
Can't use Boot Camp due to error with files
I am trying to partition the hard drive on my mac and install windows so that i can run windows based programs and other reasons, but my mac is not new and it is harder than brain surgery to locate all the files i need to back up and the ones i dont. when i open boot camp, it starts partitioning the hard drive for a few minutes and i get the error message: The disk cannot be partitioned because some files cannot be moved. Back up the disk and use disk utility to format it as single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume. Restore your information to the disk and try using Boot Camp Assistant again. i cant format the disk because the computer only has one disk. and i cant format it. Please help!
A very good way to handle this is to buy CarbonCopyClone ($40 download) and an external drive. Then clone your startup disk to the external, and clone it back.
What has happened is that after several years you have created so many tiny unused disk spaces (some only 1 or 2 blocks large) that OSX cannot relocate everything and make room. When you "clone back", all files will be in a large section at the bottom of the available disk space and there will be plenty of room for BootCamp. -
Can't Use my tones that i bought.
I synced my iPhone to my existing itunes account on my computer and after that, i couldnt find my ringtones on my phone. But when my phone is connected to my itunes and i click on 'On This Phone' It says that they are there i can't click on them to play them or anything. It also doesnt say anywhere to sync my tones. How do i get my tones back onto my phone?
The purchase date is April 13, 2011 so I beleive it should be fine. It is a refurb though from mid 2010. I think the one year starts from the purchase of the refurb, so that should still be within a year. My conern with registering it is that when I go to purchase apple care, I don't want to run into any problems if I need to use it in a year or so. I know there is a transfer policy with applecare, but I'm not sure if I need to do the same thing within the first year of purchase.

Hi... I can't backup any of my files because when I try to use BACKUP or TIME MACHINE, I get an Error -36. Can anyone help me out? I repaired disk permissions and verified my disk. That didn't help. Thanks.

TM quit because there's problem with that file.
For now, don't touch it. Instead, exclude it from TM and run another backup (there might be another problem).
To exclude it, go to TM's Preferences and click Options.
In the next panel, click the plus sign at the bottom.
In the sidebar of the next panel, select your home folder, then navigate to the folder +/Users/Superman/Music/iTunes/Album Artwork/Cache+
Select it, click Exclude, then Done.
Then do a +Back Up Now+ from the TM icon in your Menubar.
If TM runs ok, then you need to figure out what's wrong with that cache file.
I'm not particularly familiar with iTunes, but you can probably just delete it. Check the iTunes forum for that. -
Can not use recovery DVD 'Wrong machine' error occurs
My Dealer/Service center replaced the motherboard when I had a start up problem. My recovery DVD which originally comes with the notebook does not work anymore. When I start recovery procedure follow message is shown: 'Wrong machine'.

If you use wrong machine as searching term on this forum you will find many similar treads. When motherboard is changed DMI information must be updated. Without this info identification is not possible.
I recommend you to contact service again. They will update DMI info and you will be able to use recovery media again.

Can't use external monitor as default monitor for full-screen settings
Hey guys,
I have been trying to get quicktime to let me use my external monitor as the full-screen monitor. Every time I go into full-screen, it reverts back to my MBP screen.
I cannot seem to find this option even in the fullscreen preferences. Rather than having an option I can click on (like I've seen in pictures), it just says "Movie Size." I have Quicktime Pro 7.5.5 and I am running Leopard.
Any ideas? I can play most of my movies on VLC, but since I paid for Pro it would be nice if I can get it to work on my external monitor.I have to say, I am in exactly the same place ppshr150 is. I have checked both Quicktime and Quicktime Player preferences and the option to choose a default screen for full-screen presentation of movies does not exist.
I can drag movies over to the second monitor and then press Command F and they will play there but from a presentation perspective, this is rather unprofessional.
It surprises me that Apple does not have this option. Or is it a bug they haven't/won't fix? -
How can I use the up & down arrows within a split screen email?
When I'm reading a split screen email (in Yahoo), I have to use the scroll bar to go up and down WITHIN the email. I would like to set it up so that I can use the arrow keys to scroll up and down the email content. Thanks.

I have an LG monitor about 10" high and 16" wide. How can I send a photo from my Adobe files to my desktop as a screen saver. Because of the odd dimensions of this monitor, the one I have as a screensaver now does not show the entire photo. I need instructions how to choose one of my photos, send it to the monitor as a screen saver, and make it the correct size to show the entire photo.

How can I use iMac mid 2007 24" 2.8GHz as screen for Xbox
I am about to buy a new Xbox with Kinect. I would really like if there was some way I could use my iMac as a screen with it. There is not a lot of space in front of our TV, so playing (and jumping etc) in front of the mac will be ideal. I have searched around and havent really got an answer. I guess the Belkin AV360 only works with the 2010 27" iMac and the mid 2007 iMac does not have any dvi in ports. I am not sure if the EyeTV Hybrid in game mode would do the job? Has anybody used it to connect xbox/ps2 etc?
I have thought of getting another LCD for it, but there just isnt enough space in our small apartment for another tv.
Any suggesstions would be appreciated.
