Can't use SFTP after upgrading to Leopard?

I did an "Archive & Install" of Leopard last week on my Tiger-based MBP. Prior to that, I was able to use Fetch to SFTP to my company's server. Since the change in OS, though, SFTP won't work. I've been able to FTP with Fetch to other servers but can't get a connection with SFTP. I've also tried other FTP apps with the same result--no connection via SFTP.
I've installed Fetch on my wife's Leopard MB and have had no problems with FTP or SFTP. Has something in my system changed since the upgrade?

Try using the -v option to see if additional debugging information helps
sftp -v remote.system.addr
sftp -v -v remote.system.addr
sftp -v -v -v remote.system.addr

  • Can't find emails after upgrade to Leopard

I've recently upgraded to Leopard from Panther. Once the upgrade was complete, I started up Mail to check my emails, and was greeted with a message asking me if I wanted to import my old emails. As it was getting late, I declined, figuring I'd do it the next day. On starting up Mail the next day, I didn't get the import message, and Mail started downloading emails from one of my POP servers, which I managed to stop after 4 messages had hit my Inbox.
I've now imported all the old emails from my other POP servers from the folders within each "POP-*username@popserver*" folder in /Library/Mail/, but the folder for the POP server that I had downloaded the 4 emails from now only has those 4 .emlx files in the /INBOX.mbox/Messages folder, rather than the several hundred that would have been in it prior to upgrading.
Is there anything I can do to get them back? Thanks in advance.

    Jim:
Larry is correct. Look at the disks that came with the computer with Pacifist to locate, extract and install iPhoto. If you can't find it then contact Apple with your purchase number in hand and tell them you need the software disk for the iLife 08 applications.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • I can't use FaceTime after upgrading to Lion!

    Hi,
Yesterday I upgraded my MacBook to Lion, and afther I upgraded FaceTime does not work. I used it prior to my upgrade, and it worked perfect.
I have a neew macbook pro 13" 2,3ghz bought on sunday, so its brand new!!
When I try to use FaceTime I log in fine, but when I´m calling out the call will not connect. It´s realy frustrating since i´m an exchange student fare away from home and want to call home!
Have anyone a solution to my problem?
    Thanks!
    Annbjoerg

I have the same problem between 2 iMac, 2 MacBookAirs and 2 iPhones (10.7 / 4.3.5). It just doesn't connect. For a while it helped to set the FaceTime app language to default English. I used LanguageSwitcher for that purpose. But it doesn't seem to be stable.

  • Can't use Airport Express after upgrading to Leopard

I use Airport Express for wireless printing and AirTunes via powered speakers/hifi. It was working very reliably until I upgraded to Leopard. Now, I am unable to use Airport Express. I get the blinking orange light, but when I scan with Airport Utility, Airport Express is not detected. Manual setup is grayed out, so I can't set it up at all. I am using Airport Utility Version 5.2.2 (522.3), and there does not seem to be any updates or patches to apply at the moment. I have tried on my iMac G5 and MacBook, with the same result on both computers.
I am also reading that many others are having problems with Airport Express after upgrading to Leopard, perhaps not with my specific hardware configuration, but this is very disappointing.
I am open to suggestions to try a few things to get it working, so any help is appreciated.

From the Mail menu, select "Preferences". Hit the Accounts tab. Select the Account. Under Account Information, reapply the user name and password.
Check with the provider if the account needs authentication. This is in the Advanced tab. Usually just a repeat of user name and password.

Has Spotlight finished its indexing?  Check in the upper right.  If you get just the search field, it has, if it says its indexing, you have to wait before you can use anything.

  • Can't printscreen after upgrade to Leopard ????

Hi everyone ! I have a problem after upgraded to Leopard and installed Vista Ultimate on my Macbook-pro 17in-2.4. I can't use printscreen key command. I don't know what's problem. Does anybody have the same this problem ? Please help me or share some information with me ! Thanks for your concerning.

I have the same problem after upgrading from boot camp beta 1.3 to boot camp 2.0 with Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard on a Macbook Pro 15 inch. I used to press fn-f11 or fn-option-f11 to capture either the screen or the current window. This has now apparently stopped working.

  • Can i use someone else's Snow Leopard boot disk to upgrade my mac?

I am unfortunately at that stage in life where as a teenager i have many lusts and "needs" but have hit the road block... money.
I have enough to buy lion through the appstore but have not got enough to first upgrade to Snow Leopard and THEN Lion as well.
If my dad has a Snow Leopard boot disk with his mac, can i use it to upgrade mine and then go on to buy Lion through the Mac Appstore?
    Thanks!

No for possibly two reasons ... First, that's illegal as it's a violation of the Apple license agreement, and second, boot disks are locked to the system type they are delivered with.  Ask your Dad instead how you can earn $29 doing some chores around the house, or let the word get out that for any holiday gifts in December that cash would be appreciated.
Since you're on Leopard today, you probaby know in wanting to move to Lion that Lion no longer has the Rosetta emulator and thus doesn't support anything with PowerPC code. That's surprised some, so just FYI.

  • Bluetooth Mighty Mouse keeps freezing after upgrading to Leopard

My bluetooth mighty mouse has frequent, intermittent freezes (which appear to be a loss of sync to the iMac) after upgrading to Leopard (now 10.5.1) from 10.4.11 on my iMac 24" alum body. This mouse was rock solid on my iMac running Tiger. Luckily I do have a corded mouse which I've been forced to use the past week or so.
    Can anyone suggest anything?
    Thanks.

I was just trying to help my Dad with the same exact issue (Mighty Mouse stops working on waking from sleep & trying to open bluetooth prefs at that point causes the system to lock up. Have to hold down power button to reboot)
Oddly I have Leopard on my iMac 2.16 Core 2 Duo and have no issues with my Mighty Mouse.
Hopefully someone comes up with an answer .... My Dad is 80 and just bought a new Powerbook and Mighty Mouse. It's hard to explain why the mouse doesn't work.

  • Keyboard issues after upgrading to Leopard

Seems there's been quite a bit of discussion about this topic already but it's been confined to laptops and I haven't seen a solution yet. I'm seeing the same problems on a desktop computer using either a wireless or USB keyboard.
After upgrading to Leopard, my keyboard would occasionally stop responding to keystrokes. I have seen this happen on both an Apple USB keyboard and my Logitech wireless keyboard. With either keyboard, the letter and number keys would stop responding but keys like the CapsLock and Delete keys would still work. I have seen this happen when using Mac Office 2004 (Excel and Word) and Safari. With Excel, when the keyboard stops responding, if I click on a different cell, the keyboard comes back. I did update to 10.5.2 and I do have the latest version of the Logitech software but the problems still persist.
Strangely, I have only seen this happen on my MacPro but NOT my MacBook. There is a difference on how each machine was upgraded to Leopard though. On my MacBook, I did a clean install of Leopard on a new hard drive and then migrated my docs and apps from the old drive. On my Mac Pro, I did an upgrade installation over Tiger. Fortunately, I cloned my hard drive prior to installing Leopard so going back is an option and so is doing a clean install followed by a migration which is what I did on my MacBook.
Is there a fix for the keyboard problems? Am I going to have to downgrade back to Tiger?

Thanks for posting this. I thought I was alone in the universe. I have the problem with my mini, which came with Leopard installed. The USB keyboard will stop working in Word or Entourage ('04) and I have to close and reopen the document to get the keyboard going again. Thankfully, my mouse still works when this happens, so I can use it to close and save.
It seems to sometimes be triggered when I switch between applications, but I haven't been able to replicate it consistently. It is particularly bad when using find in Word. The find window will go dead and I have to close it and reopen it to do another search. (Though interestingly, I don't have to close the Word doc.)
    It's irritating.

  • Sound input (line-in) not working after upgrade to Leopard

I have upgraded my iMac Intel Core 2 Duo (white plastic frame version) to Leopard on Friday when it released. The upgrade process went very well with one MAJOR exception: Audio input through "Line-in" connection does not work anymore. I have tried everything that comes to mind so far from rebooting, to unplugging and replugging, to checking back all system settings, etc. Nothing works. At this point, I can't use my headset anymore for making calls with Skype or using voice chat in games. I would seriously need some help as I refuse to have paid $129 only to have Apple themselves break something in their products.
For this reason, I have to currently consider Leopard a failure. Reason being, in MS Windows or Linux, there always is a way around to make things work... I can't find anything at all with this release of the OS.

The OP reported their line-in input "broke" after upgrading to Leopard, however my MBP stopped recognising input from the mic on my headset a few weeks ago when I was still running Tiger. This might possibly indicate that the change in OS X's handling of the line-in input was present in a Tiger update, but I can't remember the exact correlation between the dates of my last update and this problem. All the same, I'm pretty annoyed that a headset that worked perfectly for several months is now suddenly unusable without a USB adapter.
Prior to stumbling across this thread, I visited two Apple stores, who both tested with an output from an iPod and told me that the input was working fine, leading me to buy a brand-new headset (even though I'd tested other working headsets without success) which, naturally, produced the same results.
Seems to me that the hardware is fully capable of processing a mic input through the line-in port, as it's never had any problems with any unpowered source until recently, so Apple must surely be able to undo the change they made?

  • Fonts Missing in Mail after upgrading to Leopard

After upgrading to Leopard, the fonts are missing in the font window in Mail program. I can compose only using what looks like helvetica. This is true only with this program. Any suggestions? Thanks

After an elimination process, it appeared that there was a conflict of some sort on one of the accounts I had and unfortunately, that was the one with the most messages. Its a pain but my only work around it was to start all over again with Mail. If it helps yo, this is what I did: a) backed up my Mail : user/library/mail and backed up the preference file : user/library/preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
    b) removed the Mail preference : user/library/preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
    c) restarted Mail and created the accounts all over again via the setup helper
    d) imported the mail boxes from where I saved them including those in the 'pop' folder
Now I have they old messages available in a folder I renamed 'archived' that is in the "ON MY MAC" section of the side bar.
IT IS TEDIOUS AND I AM PRETTY SURE THERE IS A MORE ACCURATE SOLUTION OUT THERE TO THIS PROBLEM.

  • Having Font Issues In Safari After Upgrading To Leopard

So...i'm having some font issues in Safari after upgrading to Leopard....
It works fine on my desktop but not on my laptop. They both run on Leopard.
Also, it works in Firefox but not Safari.
Here's some screens of what it looks like. This only pertains to any site that uses this font and it isn't uncommon, (sites like google, yahoo, and the WoW Forums)
    http://i21.tinypic.com/1z6cwsx.jpg
zoom in to see what i'm talking about, it's really messed up on the full screen

Anyways...any idea on how I can fix this?

I disabled the stencil font and deleted it. No luck here.
I ran a font validation check and this is what showed up, don't know if this means anything.

  • Motion screen is completely black after upgrading to Leopard

    Hi,
I have opened IDVD for the first time after upgrading to Leopard and it does not work correctly anymore.
The motion screen is in black and does not show anything (while you can hear the sound of the theme selected)
This happens with already created projects and new projects
    All since upgraded to Leopard
It is possible to see a movie in an already created project, if you are able to go through the menuscreens and select the movie without actually seeing anything. Than the movie is shown correctly.
I work with the latest version of Leopard and IDVD, all on a macbook
    Hope you can help !!
    Thanks a lot
