Can't use system ringtone in 3rd party apps since OS upgrade

Yesterday I upgraded the OS on my BB9900 to 7.1 Bundle 2061 (v7.1.0.714 Platform 5.1.0.532). I then had to completely reconfigure BeBuzz LED customiser (v 5.0.40 for OS 7.1) for specific contacts and apps. Before upgrading I had used 3Bells as a contact-specific alert for emails and text messages in BeBuzz. But since the upgrade it won’t let me us 3Bells. If I try, the following message appears:
“The selected ringtone 3Bells is a system protected file and cannot be accessed by 3rd party apps. Please move a copy of the file to a different folder on your phone. This applies to all ringtones that came preinstalled on this phone”.
This is very strange, as this restriction wasn’t there before upgrading the OS. My question is, how do I locate the folder where this ringtone file is?

And remember to either log out and back in to the account or restart the computer to force the generation of a new prefs file.

Should be Ok. The only problem I have with 3rd party software is with Epson Scan, Till Apple fix this I can't use my scanner. I also had to log out of Spotify, and log back in again before it streamed reliably.

Can't seem to sync my songs and apps since i upgraded iphone and itunes

I just did the update so ios5 and the updated itunes. it wiped my phone and restored it. but it didnt put on my apps and my songs. i have all my pictures and contacts on it. but when i try to sync it just says preparing then flashes words faster than i can read them and its not updated...help!

Are you trying to drag songs onto playlists into your library or playlists that are already stored on your iPod? What happens when you try to add them? Are sure you aren't trying to add songs to Smart Playlists?

How can I forward an SMS as an email , i have doing this daily on 9900, surprised to miss this on Q10, i am ready to buy an 3rd party app also, if required, it is must for me.

1. when i read an sms, there is option to forward as email in 9900.
Since i am using Q10, i can not do this.
I need this immediately.

2. Further, i can not sms from contacts screen. There is no option to sms , when i select a contact. I have to go to SMS and there type contact name , how can i enable this?

If i am in a meeting , it is long process and kill focus in meeting. In android, there is one swipe to reject call and send an sms that i am in meeting. Can we achieve this basic features in Q10..

I can forward a SMS as an email on my Q10.
open the SMS and hold down on the text, this opens a side menu with the "share" icon on it (like a Y),
Then you can select how you want to share, eg SMS, Email BBM etc.

Can't open any 3rd party apps - they crash on startup

I've been an iPhone owner since the first model (I have iPhone 4 now), and I've never seen anything like this.
Last night my iPhone ran out of charge. This morning, when I plugged it in it had to charge for a few minutes before it would turn on. Once it turned on, it said "waiting for activation: this may take a while". I thought this was strange, because my phone is already activated. I'm in an area with no reception, though, so maybe that was the issue.
Once the phone turned on, I tried to open some of my apps. But none of the 3rd party apps would open! When I tap them they appear to open but they shut down / crash right away. Strangely, however, all of the Apple apps that come with the phone will open without a problem (Maps, Mail, Safari, iCal, etc.).
I tried a hard reset but that didn't help. I'm away from home so I can't do an erase and store, and I really need access to some of the data in those apps.
Any ideas?

I did the same this week. I did a sync and now I can't access any of my apps. They appear to open then shut right back down. Have tried to resync, update and about anything else that may fix and nothing. Paying an aweful lot of money just for texting and phone usage. Anyone know how to take care of this issue? If by "still nothing" you mean they are not showing up in the AU manager after reinstalling them....
Im guessing the AU Cache itself is now corrupted so.....
Quit LPX
Open Finder
Press the option key and click "Go" in Finder's menu and select "Library". (This is the User Library and not the System Library and is normally hidden which is why you have to hold down the option key when clicking on Go.... to reveal it in the drop down menu that will appear)
Go to "Caches" dir and remove "AudioUnitCache" dir.
Now Restart your Mac.....
and then Launch LPX and let it rescan your plugins and see if that fixes things....

Several 3rd party apps can't connect to internet?

Recently, several 3rd party apps on my mbp have been unable to connect to the internet. These include but are not limited to: Dropbox, Google Drive, Skype, Transmission, Evernote, Steam, Trillian, plex, several little useful apps such as mailtab for gmail. The Mac App Store is also having issues. I can, however, use Safari to browse with no issue at all. I'm connecting via wifi, no proxies or vpns or anything like that. Can anyone help me out here?

You don't give any examples of the apps that are not working.
Some public WiFi networks will only have certain network ports open, like those for web and mail. If an app uses an unusual network port then it may not work on the public WiFi network.

How can I restore 3rd party app data from my backup in the cloud

First a brief history. I use the iCloud to backup my iPad 2 and hardly ever synch it to itunes on my computer. I got the new iPad and restored the backup of my iPad 2 onto it. All was fine except that an issue I had on my iPad 2's Safari had transferred over to my new iPad. That's is for another discussion. Anyhow I went to the genius bar and they said to just setup my new iPad as a new device and then manually install everything back on it. Stuff like mail, contacts, etc, would be reloaded from the cloud. So I did and I noticed that one of my 3rd party apps, MadPad, had none of my saved data. Does anyone know of a way to restore 3rd party app data from the iCloud? Is there some sort of utility out there that would do this? I don't want to restore it from my previous iPad 2 backup because it will reintroduce the Safari problem back onto my new iPad.

Assuming that you even have a backup with the data in it, you have no choice but to use a backup in order to restore that data. That is the idea behind backing up to iCloud. If that is the only backup that you have - then that is the one that you have to use.
But if the backup is bad - or had corrupt data - then you will end up with the corrupt data again. You cannot selectively restore app data from a backup. you restore all settings and data - or nothing at all.

You cannot use system calls in the kernel modules.
Read 'Writing Device Drivers' answerbook - it lists the set of interfaces (known as DDI/DDK) that are supposed to be used instead.

Can I set "open with" for files - associate file types with a 3rd party app

I have PDF file attachments inside my OmniFocus application. When I double-tap them, they get opened in the standard Apple PDF viewer. But I have a better 3rd-party app which opens PDFs and allows me to edit them (mark them up) - I'd like the attachments to open in this app instead of the normal PDF viewer. I don't want to have to switch to the 3rd party app to open it - it's important to me that I can place comments on many, many PDFs inside of OmniFocus. So:
1) is it possible to ask the iPad to have all PDFs to open in this 3rd party app?
2) if not, is it possible to name the attachments some other extension (e.g., .xyz) and tell it to open all .xyz files with the 3rd-party PDF viewer?

When You view the features of the app in the app store, there are pictures of some of the different screens under the main description of the app. I swiped through the pictures and the fourth photo shows a screen - An image in the black box pointing to the image name - roots.jpg. Unless and until Microsoft modifies the license terms for System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection and/or modifies the Online Services Terms (OST) and/or other document explicitly saying that use is included with the Azure RemoteApp (ARA) monthly
fee I recommend you assume as that it is
not included and license it separately for ARA if that is even possible, which is a separate question.
For licensing it is best to be cautious and make decisions based on the official documents that are available that govern use of the software and services involved. At this moment I'm not able to find a Microsoft document that grants use of System
Center 2012 Endpoint Protection with Azure RemoteApp.
When I first used the gallery template and noticed that Endpoint Protection was installed within it I had the same question as you. I will update this thread if/when I obtain more information.
