Can't view abr brush files in Preset Manager

My problem in Photoshop CS5 is that I can't see the .abr files using the Preset Manager.
Specifically, the Load dialog for brushes shows the Adobe Photoshop CS5/Presets/Brushes folder as empty...
...even though Windows Explorer displays both the default brushes and the many brushes I just purchased.

I was under the impression that brushes will only show under preset manager if they were manually loaded into photoshop by selecting Brush then Load Brushes and then selecting the abr file you wanted. I always save my extra brushes/styles/actions etc under seperate folders away from Photoshop as you can easily direct the Load Brushes etc to where you have them saved and then load from there easily. And as I have many of these extras, keeping them seperate from Photoshop saves load up time when starting Photoshop. Hope this helps

I downloaded a set of brushes as an ABR file, pasted it into the 'brush' folder in the 'presets' folder, but when I try to load my brushes I can't see any ABR files in my brushes folder.
Does anyone have any ideas?

If you are using Windows, did you place them in the 32 bit Program Files (x86) folder or the 64 bit Program Files folder?
Place them in here
C:\Users\Your Name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6\Presets\Brushes
so both versions can see them.

How can I view an AI file created on a MAC on a PC without corrupting the original fonts? An AI file was created with an image and text on a MAC. When the AI file was opened on a PC, the text fonts were not the same as originally created. Also, the same AI file was saved to PDF on the MAC. When the AI file was opened on a PC, there wasn't anything visible. Anyone have any ideas?

Are you using the save version of Illustrator on both Mac and PC? If so, and you have the same fonts installed on both machines you should be able to open it without any problems. You may need to tell it which fonts to assign, they are not always named the same. If you don't need to edit the text, you could convert the text to outline and eliminate the need for fonts.

Support for viewing PDFs in emails and web-pages is built in to the iPad. You need not have bought an app for that.
There are PDF apps that provide more features than the built-in functionality, but for basic viewing of multi-page PDFs no app is required.

Where to find .abr (brushes) file format specification

Hi there,
I've found the "Adobe Photoshop File Formats Specification" in the documentation (http://www.adobe.com/devnet-apps/photoshop/fileformatashtml/).
But unfortunately it does not contain the spec for .abr brush file format.
Any ideas where to find this?

I don’t believe the current format is documented. It has a bunch of serialized ActionDescriptors inside, so documenting it fully and explicitly would probably be pretty difficult. If you use Photoshop’s code for parsing the ActionDescriptors though, you should be able to reverse engineer the format without impossible levels of effort – might take a couple days or something.

 The UI is kind of sucky in part because it takes a strange advantage of the space available in the right-side preview window, and parts of the way it works are kind of unconventional, but at least it works. Also, it doesn't keep a list of previously viewed abr sets in memory, so every time you fire it up you have to navigate to the folder of brushes you want to view.

Maybe the ABR viewer utility for Windows keeps the UI populated with a list (and the PNG proxy images) of brush sets the user has viewed previously, but the Mac .jar version doesn't. At least it doesn't for me.
I sent a note to the software's author with a link to this thread, along with my misgivings about the way it works. Near as I can tell, he's a young guy, going to University, and this is just a little hobby project for him that he won't be devoting a lot of extra time to. I'd love to open a dialogue with him about how it could be improved, but I really don't expect he'll show up here to do that.
Photoshop's Preset manager is good, but still, you have have PS running and you have to load the ABR files just to preview the set. That's a little cumbersome IMO. That's why the ABR viewer is a cool utility...it just needs a few tweaks.

You can't view individual files contained in the backup. You can control which apps are backed up, and whether or not the camera roll is included in the backup, by going to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, tapping the name of your device under Backups, then looking under Backup Options.

Missing .abr (brushes) files

I'm using Photoshop CS6. My problem is in loading new brushes. When I click the 'load brushes' option, Photoshop navigates to a file location that appears to be the "Brushes" folder, but it has only two files in it, both of which I created using the 'save brushes' option. However, when I open the brushes folder using windows explorer, all of the brushes are there EXCEPT the ones I saved. What's going on? How can I regain access to all my brush files?

Sony XDCam--can't view my .mov files in QT

I am having no luck with viewing my .mov files that were captured by a Sony XDCam. The camera is Sony's newest and best-est for HD movie making. Is there a codec or program that I can install that will help?
Point of interest: the audio comes through crystal clear; the video is a black screen... ugh.

Do you have Final Cut Pro 5.1.2 or above installed on your system?
The XDCAM HD codecs are licensed only to be installed with Final Cut Pro. The XDCAM EX codecs came with Final Cut Pro 6.0.2.

How can I view .avi video files?

Neither Quicktime nor Flip4Mac plays .avi movie/video files. I dislike Quicktime for that main reason, lack of compatibility with various video formats.
I tried using FlipPlayer which I think is the same as flip4mac and same thing. it plays but displays nothing, no audio.
What can I use or do to view my .avi files ?

Try VLC media player seems to play anything.

2-Set the *View Instance (ViewObject that feeds table)
3-Add Entity under the Attachment image
4-Set *Entity as same with your entity value
5-Insert Allowed =>false, Update Allowed => false Show All => true
6-Add a primary key under the Entity
7-Set View Attribute with your primary key column like PersonId
