Can't view man pages on solaris 8 x86

Hi,
I installed solaris 8 on a intel x86 machine not using the webwizard because I wanted a minimal installation.
When I try to view man pages I get the following error:
man manReformatting page. Please Wait...Invalid SGML. File cannot be formatted
sys(cd /usr/share/man; /usr/lib/sgml/sgml2roff /usr/share/man/sman1/man.1 > /tmp/sman_3827) fail!
aborted (sorry)
when I list /usr/lib/sgml then I got the following files:
ls -ltotal 2830
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root bin 68016 Jan 9 2000 instant

Don't know what is wrong but I think I'm missing a package, anybody clues...

Depending on how minimal your install was, you may not have installed the man pages.
Take a look in /usr/share/man and see if you have the man pages installed, and if not, install them.

I have just installed Oracle Solaris 11 on x86. For a long time I've used Solaris 9 on SPARC. I like the new OS, but I'm having a problem viewing man pages with Gnome terminal. When I view a long man page, e.g., "man newfs", I don't get a functional scroll bar on the right hand side of the window. And although the space bar works to advance the page, when I reach the end, it doesn't return to the command prompt. It just beeps, prints "END", and I can only exit by closing the window. Can anyone tell me how to fix this? Suggestions would be much appreciated.

It does sound like you're using "less" instead of more. When you see the "(END)" prompt you can simply type "q" and it will exit back to the command line prompt making it unnecessary to close the window. See the "less" manual page for more detail on the less command. Under Solaris 9 the paging was done with the "more" command. If you set the PAGER environment variiable to "more" the man page will use more and revert to the behavior you'd be used to with Solaris 9. Less erases the text you've already read when you type that final "q" which is a behavior I don't like. I didn't bother to determine if there is a way to fix that with less, I just went back to more. The choice between "more" and "less" is a personal preference.

If the page fails to load try clearing Reloading with the Ctrl F5 shortcut to force loading without the old new cached files. If that does not help try cache and clearing cookies for that site.

Reload the webpage while bypassing the cache using '''one''' of the following steps:

For viewing PDF I use PDF Pen. It's awesome though some consider the app pricey. PDF expert is another one.
Sometimes it depends on the book you are viewing. If its a PDF it will not show 2 pages that I am aware of.

Can I view my Pages document like an e-Magazine?

Hi Everyone,
Does Pages have this function?
If I create a document or import full screen images into Pages and view it like an e-Magazine on my iPad.
For example, after the picture has been imported, viewing it like a single page when I hold my iPad in a portrait position is fine but say when I am down to pages 14 & 15 can I view it like a double page spread when I turn my iPad on its landscape position.
Can this be done?
One more thing, does Pages have a function that simulate a "flipping page" effect?

No if its an original .pages document. If it was exported as word .doc files or pdf then you might be able to open it with other apps like Documents to go...

How can I view two pages side by side in the new Pages?

I can not find the feature to allow me to do this (which was available in the old version). This is really causing problems with some of my documents that have been created to be viewed this way. Any help would be great!

I am a loyal Apple user because Apple form always follows function. Deleting this feature from Pages was a stupid decision. Amateurish, really. Makes me question the new design team's competence.
One of the key principals in good user experience design is providing value - simple, clean functionality that users find useful. Side-by-side edititng is a great example. Yes, the document is stored internally as a linear stream, but from the user's point of view the presentation should be as a reader sees it. I don't know why it was removed, but I suspect it was either to conform with the internal form of the data, or to the least-common-denominator presentation device, or both.
I bought a Thunderbolt display so that I could edit documents 2 pages at a time. My intended audience sees the document this way, and so I would like to write it this way. But I can't with the new Pages.
Apple, please restore the side-by-side view in Pages. I have work to do. (And while you are at it, fix the EndNote plug-in.)

Man pages are in SUNWman package. During Live Upgrade did you use Sol 9 CD 2 of 2 or did you quit after just using CD 1 of 2? Additionally, if your original Sol 8 install was "Core" or "End User" the man pages would not have been installed, by default, unless you added them later, so the LU may have seen that original was "Core" for example, and didn't load man pages.

How can I view double page spreads in pages? (iCloud pages).

The defalt for iCloud pages Is just page after page when you scroll down. Is there a way to view two pages side by side? It is really hard to alline things when they are not side by side. -- and no. making a new landscape document does not count.

There are many, four I believe, ways to go about this. You could:
1. Open Pages and File > Open > browse to your document > Click Open.
2. With Pages running, Drag the document file to the Pages icon on the Dock
3. Control-Click the document file and select Open With > choose Pages.
4. Control-Click the document file and select Get Info. Choose Open With, choose Pages, Click Change All. Now any double-click on this document type will cause it to open in Pages. (I think this is the solution you are looking for, but I couldn't resist teasing you with the others.)

Ebook is frozen, can only view new pages when fullscreening

So I bought a study guide and I can access all the pages but the problem is that I can't scroll, when i scroll down or up I can see the page number moving but on the screen the same page remains, the only way I change the display page is if I switch between fullscreen and not fullscreen. Can anyone help me please?

There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0 (and 2.0.1).
One of them is that page scrolling sometimes does not work for people.
Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
(You can have them both installed at once if you like.)
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

Some people have found ADE trying to upgrade automatically.
It appears (not 100% sure) that if you install ADE2.0 as a new install (not as an upgrade) that your 1.7.2 will continue to run.
Probably best to say no if 2.0.x installation asks if you want to migrate your library.

Can I view another page from a different application in the same workspace?

I'm a newbie and I've searched through the threads and can not find exactly what I'm looking for.
I do not wish to copy a page from a different APP. What I want to do is create an application where on tab is actually a tab from a different App.
Like this, I have SCHEDULED_TASKS application that has a calander that is updated weekly. I have another appliction that is used for our Database Testers to track testing on the database.
I have a Tab in CAS_TESTING named TESTING_SCHEDULE. It is this tab that I want to have referance the SCHEDULED_TASKS Calender so testers can view the schedule for service packs.
Is there a way that I can do this?

In terms of the UI and tabs, you can use parent tabs (use a two-level tab page template). Or you could just put links in on app's pages that go to the other app using Lists, for example. In any of these links from one app to the other, you must include the session ID (&APP_SESSION.).
If the application's are both public (no authentication required), you're done.
If the apps require authentication, edit each app's authentication scheme and put some name in for cookie name (anything you like), using the same name in both apps. Depending on the authentication method, you then have to figure out who owns the login page, etc.
That should do it.

How can I view 2 pages on the screen?

With old Pages there was an option in Zoom to see One Up or Two Up. But this has now disappeared. How can I see Two Up?

A temporary work around if you're stuck in the new Pages is to go to File>Print and then open in Preview and select the 2 page view. At least you can see what it looks like but you won't be able to edit anything.
Make sure you submit a review on the App Store and list this feature as missing. Features that are most in demand will rise to the top of the to-do list unless there is some reason why Apple won't re-instate the feature.

Can't View Multiple Pages of a Document in Cover Flow

According to the various Steve Jobs demonstrations and the accompanying manual, I thought we would be able to see multiple pages of a document in cover flow. The manual on p. 13 states:
"Move the pointer over an item to view a movie or see the pages of a document".
Yet this doesn't seem to work for Apples own Pages or Numbers. I have a multiple page Pages document that shows as one really long page both in cover flow and Quick look. Is there something I need to turn on? Anyone else having this problem?

Adding to the problems of viewing Pages & Keynote documents, I have to say the integration is quite poor.
There don't appear to be any problems 'flicking' through different multiple pages of a Pages document in Finder/Quicklook if it is based on an iWork template but if it is an original document containing shapes or images masked by shapes then problems arise; the document will only present the first page and in Quicklook the preview presents all elements separately i.e the image followed by the shape which was used to mask it...quite frankly it looks awful. And the same occurs in Keynote previews. Does anyone else have this experience?
Fingers crossed this is a bug which will be addressed quickly.

(not the .html).
It's taken me a long time to get it this far.
So far it looks great in MacOSX v.10.3.9 on four browsers
(Firefox, Safari, Opera, Netscape). No problems.
I sent my Dad a link and he's viewing it in Windows XP (using
IE v.7.0 and Firefox).
He said the text in my four main paragraphs is screwed
up........well, over here in Appleland all looks pristine.
Can someone on a PC view my site and tell me if anything
looks screwed up?
This is the first site I've built where I've been told
there's problems on the PC side.
I need some pointers.....

Webpages are shifted to right, can't view whole page

when I try getting online, especially with facebook, data is shifted to the right, large amount of blank space on left, and I cannot view data on right side of screen. For example, with facebook, I cannot log out without making the screen really small because the place to click is not visible. I also cannot view chat nor use scroll bar

This issue can be caused by the Babylon Toolbar 1.1.8 extension.
