Can't view PDF in browser

Running FireFox 3.6.8 - Can't view PDF files in browser. Get a messgae that basically says "Can't not display PDF file in browser. Exit Reader and your browser and try again."

I think this message should go to all who contacted me, and for that I thank you.
It seems I have found the problem, or at least I can now view PDF files. I disabled the FireFox Plug-in "Adobe Acrobat 9.3.4.218" which is described as "Adobe Acrobat Plug-In for FireFox and Netscape 9.3.4".
Not being a genius at computers, I really don't know what has happened. I just know that I went into the "Tools/Addons/Plug-ins" section of FireFox and disabled the above plug-in and the next thing I know I could view PDF files.
Again, thanks to all for trying to help

  • Can't view pdf in any browser

Using Mac os10.6.  I can't view pdf in Safari or Firefox (comes up as blank black or white page only) nor in Chrome where it says the adobe plug-in is not installed (which of course it is)  I checked for all updates, reviewed the settings for the internet reader on Chrome, which is set to be Acrobat reader.  Even ran a disk diagnostic to check for corrupted files.  I am looking for suggestions on fixing this issue.  I am able to create, read and open pdf's from email and any file already on my computer.  It's got to be this plug-in, I just don't know how to fix it.

I signed out of my account and signed in my wife's account on the same
computer.  I could open the pdf files with Safari but could not save
them.  I could not open them with Firefox or Opera.  When I use my
account, I get a terrible cross hatch on the front of them in Safari and
can not open them in the other browsers.   This sounds as if I have two
problems, one for the cross hatch and one for not working at all.
The three latest Apple upgrades also messed up my print to both paper
and pdf but I was able to fix that by going into the Library and the
Print folder and throwing away a file.
Apple really should test upgrades more before releasing them. Apple
support, for the most part, varies a lot.  They could not help me on
this one.  I have used Apple support five or six times and at least half
of these, they could not help and I had to fix the problem myself.
I sure hope they fix this one as it seems complex.  I also wonder if I
upgrade to Mountain Lion, will I have the same problem?

  • Since I have Yosemite on my iMac I can't view PDF files in Safari anymore.  It keeps telling me to upgrade my Adobe Reader, but it is the latest version.  Please help?  I don't have this problem on my Macbook that does not have Yosemite installed.

Since I have Yosemite on my iMac I can't view PDF files in Safari anymore.  It keeps telling me to upgrade my Adobe Reader, but it is the latest version.  Please help?  I don't have this problem on my Macbook that does not have Yosemite installed.

Back up all data before making any changes. Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print or save PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to do so by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar should appear under the cursor. Click the printer or disk icon.
    Step 2
There should be a setting in its preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
    Step 3
If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
    and check the box marked
              Allow Plug-ins
    Then click
              Manage Website Settings...
and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
    Step 4
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
    Step 5
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others—I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
    Step 6
Do as in Step 4 with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari.

  • Problem with LTKRN11N.dll after enabling "View PDF in Browser" option

    Good afternoon,
I'm trying to install an internal business application on one of our office PC's but keep getting errors during the install.  The two errors I receive are:
The ordinal 267 could not be located in the dynamic link library LTKRN11n.dll
The ordinal 173 could not be located in the dynamic link library LTDIS11n.dll
I've narrowed the problem down and can repeat it...it seems to be the result of enabling the option "View PDF in Browser" in the preferences of Adobe Reader 9.3.  Simply unchecking the option does not fix the problem and neither does uninstalling Adobe or the other application.  So far, the only answer has been to re-image the machine without the option, install the other application and then enable the option (if needed) however, once the option has been enabled, any further attempts to install the application, will fail, reuquiring a re-image.
Any help with how Adobe uses these dlls or what might remedy the problem would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Matt

It looks like the 2 DLLs you mentioned, are getting corrupted or modified due to some operation that might have been performed on them. Can you please try the below mentioned instructions and see if that gets your application to install without any errors:
    1. Try installing your business app.
    2. When you see the error message as stated, try running the below mentioned commands: (Start | Run | Type cmd and hit Enter)
        regsvr32 LTKRN11n.dll /i /s
        regsvr32 LTKRN11n.dll /s
        regsvr32 LTDIS11n.dll /i /s
        regsvr32 LTDIS11n.dll /s
    3. The above commands should fix the issues in the mentioned DLLs and allow normal installation of your business app.
Hope this gets your app to work and install properly.

  • Can't view pdf files in gmail (OS 5.01)

Since I have installed OS 5.1 I can't view pdf files in my gmail account. I can view them on yahoo (same email) or with the previous OS.  I just download 5.01 a week ago so I am not sure if I missed something for settings or if I need to change something because my search has not discovered anyone else having an issue.
    Thanks!

Yes, I can view emails it is the PDF files I can't download or view.  In OS 4 I could touch the attachment and it would open up, now when I touch the attachment it just tries to download.  This is for all PDF files in gmail.

  • Generating slideshows that can be viewed using any browser

I'm about to reach my wit's end with respect to using iPhoto to generate a slide show that can
    1) easily be viewed in all of the major browsers, and
    2) not be such a large file.
At present, I am using iPhoto to generate a slide show. This is straight forward and simple BUT if you have several pictures, the output file gets very large very quickly. I was able to easily produce 5 separate slide shows with a minimum of muss and fuss.
However, the various output files were quite large and attracted the attention of the persons responsible for managing our storage space. I was asked to take the iPhoto produced slide show and convert this to a Flash presentation. A conversion application (Any Video Converter) was recommended and I used this to generate a Flash presentation (the file extension is sfw).
It should be noted that these presentations were generated on a MacBook Pro, copied to a flash drive, and converted to a sfw format on a Windows machine. The files were then returned to the original MacBook Pro using the same flash drive.
At this point, using iWeb, I embedded the presentations on a web page using the appropriate snippet.
Browsing the generated web pages using any Mac, I can see all of the Flash presentations.
Browsing the generated web pages using any Windows based machine, I CANNOT see any of the Flash presentations.
All of that leads to the following question:
I'd like to generate slideshows using the photos I have gathered in iPhoto. However, given the problems I have experienced to date, it would seem that I should consider using something other than iPhoto to generate the slide shows. It is an absolute requirement that whatever I generate be viewable using any browser.
Can someone recommend a product (or process) that uses (interacts) with iPhoto to generate a variety of presentations that can be viewed using any browser?
    Thanks.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Do you have a MobileMe account? If so create a MMe gallery in iPhoto with the movies and publish. Then any browser will be able to view the slideshow movies. This gallery is an example: Movie Gallery
HOWEVER, be sure that your movies do not have a blank first frame so it doesn't look like mine does. I'm in the process of removing those blank frames. But you can see the concept.

  • I'm new to the Apple products. How can I view pdf files since Apple and Adobe don't play together?

I'm new to the Apple products. How can I view pdf files and videos since Apple and Adobe don't play together? Also, what operating system does the iPhone use? I'm a Windows person.

You may want to download and read the manual for your phone. It may answer a lot of the basic questions.

There is an app on your phone called "Mail". Yes, it's for reading your email.
    Best of luck.

  • Can't view PDF files in Wb Browser

Hello from a relative newbie to Adobe.
Recently I began getting the message " Adobe Acrobat Reader that is running cannot be used to view PDF files in a web browser. Adobe Acrobat/Reader version 8 or 9 is required. Please exit and try again " when viewing web sites.
I have Adobe Acrobat 4 ( and always have, I think ) so I successfully downloaded Version 9.1 but still keep getting the same message.
Could I get some help please ?
    Cheers,

As long as I can view the current bank files (not downloads), the actual statements are not vital.  I can print those pages, but it's just very difficult and time consuming to go through all of that when a statement is what I need.  I can always go back to paper statements in the mail, but those would just be current.
Anyway, it happened just as you said...out of the blue.  You probably know more than I do about computer issues...you might check out your firewall and security settings.  I get lost when I start checking things out, so I'll try to keep track and let you know if I find a solution.
    Thanks, George...maybe Adobe will respond???
    Take care.....

  • Can't view PDF files in browser without disabling add-on.

    Hi,
I have a situation where the website i'm using tries to open a PDF file on screen/in browser, but unfortunately it doesn't actually open, i just get a grey screen. The only way around this is by disabling the adobe reader add-on.
The only problem is, another piece of software that we use requires this adobe reader enabled to work, so I need a solution.
Can anyone advise? I'm currently on Internet Explorer 9.

    Hi Gary,
Yes, you can by using the plugin from Schubert.
    Plugin PDF Safari
After the installation open your PDF Application en deselect in the Internet section >Show PDF in browser<
    Good luck ...

  • Can't view pdf; getting message to launch Adobe Reader and sign user agreement that I can't find.

I'm trying to view my son's 1098-T on his college's website, but keep getting the message "Before viewing PDF documents in this browser you must launch Adobe Reader and accept the End User License Agreement, then Quit and relaunch the browser."
When I launch Adobe Reader, I can't find a user agreement to accept.  I have tried relaunching both Google Chrome and Adobe Reader several times to no avail. I've also redownloaded and tried to reinstall Adobe Reader, but it got a message it was already installed. I previously had problems getting the pdf to fill (the form was blank and didn't have my student's info), and reinstalled Adobe Reader before I realized I had to disable Google Chrome's pdf  viewer, which I have since done.

    Sorry. I have a Mac with OS X 10.9.5
I've since totally deleted Adobe Reader and reinstalled it but have the same problem anytime I try to view a PDF with Adobe Reader.  The college website won't let me save the form, only view it.  If I use another pdf viewer the form won't fill with my son's info; I think it has to be Adobe Reader for some reason

  • Can not view PDF's after upgrading to FF 4.0.

Using FF3.6 I downloaded an Add-On that allowed me to view .pdf's directly in the browser. Now having upgraded {?} to FF4.0 I can not view automaticaly, nor are these Add-On's available for 4.0.
    What do I do?

    * You can see the permissions for the domain in the current tab in Tools > Page Info > Permissions
    * You can check the exceptions in Tools > Options > Content: Load Images > Exceptions
    * You can check the Tools > Page Info > Media tab for blocked images (scroll through all the images)
There are also extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) that can block images.
