Can't view thumbnails or edit  recently uploaded photos.

In the last few rolls that I uploaded from my camera, the photos do not show up as thumbnails. I can see the photos if I choose "show file" but these can only be viewed in Preview and not in iPhoto. I have tried to copy them back into iPhoto but the program tells me that they are already in my iPhoto library.
Basically it seems the files are in my computer and iPhoto recognizes them as being in the library but I cannot view or edit these pictures. My other photos from past uploads are fine.
Any suggestions?

To repair disk permissions you launch Disk Utility (located in your Applications/Utiities folder), select your HD icon on the left and then click on Repair Disk Permissions.
Permissions are the Unix access control to files. it's what you can set manually on user files in the Info window. Disk Utility fixes and sets those parameters on system files and applications. It's wise to do so after any software installation or update.

  • Why can't I see recently uploaded photos in my grid view?  I have to click on the hourglass image to see each photo individually.

Until recently, each time I upload photos from my camera or other source, I've been able to see the thumbnails in my "grid" view.  However, the most recent uploads only appear as hourglass thumbnails.  When I click on each thumbnail, the photo appears, but when I return to the grid view, only the hourglass thumbnails of the recently loaded photos show.  Photos loaded earlier appear as normal thumbnails in the grid view.
    Help!!

If you want to control the size of the photos select them in iPhoto and export to a desktop folder using the various size options available during export - then attach to your e-mail from the folder

Add the corrected ones to your PS - PS contains only what was added to it - changes made are not applied to the PS - you have to re add the updated photos

  • How can clients view video file that I upload to my Creative Cloud area?

How can clients view video files that I upload to my Creative Cloud area?  Is there a special password that they have to use to gain access?
    Thanks for any guidance.

As a video professional, i agree and am VERY disappointed with this policy.  I attended CC presentations at various conventions, film festivals and meetups for a year-and-a-half before I made the leap to CC, and no one EVER mentioned a restriction to transferring video files.
Whether it's to save storage space or not, that's how it APPEARS to the end user.  Anybody who knows ANYthing about how video pirates commit their crime (which it most-certainly is), knows that there are plenty of FREE, untraceable (or nearly-anonymous) resources to carry it out.  The need for anyone to pay $30 or more per-month to do it with an acct that has their info attached to it is ludicrous!  If anything it's CONTRIBUTING to piracy to encourage creatives to transfer their material to collaborative parties using a less-secure, more heavily-trafficked third-party service than the one they're paying for exclusive use for.
Adobe's policy makers need to review this restriction and remove it or provide ANOTHER reason why it exists because this one doesn't fly.  And if it continues, make sure a disclaimer gets inserted in CC pitch presentations because likely half of the attendees are working with video.

  • Iphoto quit unexpectedly and lost my recent uploaded photos

Iphoto quit unexpectedly when I had just uploded some photos. When I openend Iphoto again, all of my recent uploaded photos were missing.
I have the Iphoto '11 version 9.4.1 and the operating system of my macbook pro is os x mountain lion version 10.8.2.
Is it possible I can recover my photos?

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

can anyone help? am unable to upload photos into iphoto. have been doing it for a few years but will not allow it anymore. no error message comes up. has anyone had a similar experience?

What version of iPhoto? How are you trying?
    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • Thumbnails lost contact with originals in iPhoto '09 (8.1.2.) – can't view fullscreen or edit!

Over the past days my headache over the iPhoto '09 library has gone from bad to worse.
Starting with a few albums and events from last year, iPhoto has stopped displaying some photos (mainly landscape-oriented photos, upright photos seem to be working fine most of them) in fullscreen, edit mode and slideshows.
Browsing through the apple community I've realized that this issue may be due to thumbnails losing contact with original photos. Indeed, I can't seem to export photos to desktop or any other location. "Show original file" or "show file" only opens an empty Finder window, doesn't connect with the Picture folder or anything.
I've also tried entering the Library manually from another working photo, and can't seem to locate a number of pics. It seems the originals are simply lost.
Some of the missing pictures are irreplacable (like my son's birth!).
I'd be INCREDIBLY THANKFUL for any advice on how to save these photos.
    Cheers/ AB

The simple and surefire solution is to restore from back up.
If files are missing then that's the only solution.
    To rebuild the Library:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • Can't view thumbnails in cs4 photoshop or bridge

    Hi,
I can't view cs2 or DNG files thumbnails in CS4 photoshop or bridge. I'm using vista 64 home premium and recently had to reinstall cs4 on a new disc. It worked fine before on my old disc but now it doesn't.
I've searched through the various topics on this, I've only got one copy of the correct file (Camera Raw.8bi) in the correct folders, CS4 is shown in the bridge / edit / prefs / file type associations.
I can click on a file and it opens in bridge but I just can't see the thumbs.
One point though - the DNG convertor states that it needs camera raw v 7.1 or later so maybe that's why I can't read the dng file (even though I can open them) but it doesn't explain why I can't see the cr2 files.
    Any ideas?
    thanks,
    Doug

If purging the cache doesn't work, the ACR plug-in (which is called Camera Raw.8bi) may be in the wrong place.
    It should be in:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS3\File Formats
There is another plug-ins folder in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\ Adobe CS3 folder. If the ACR plug-in is in there, delete it.

  • Can't view thumbnails in Bridge

I'm running Windows 7 (64 bit), have downloaded the most recent RAW update (4.6) for CS3.  I'm able to open RAW files and work with them---just can't view the "thumbnail photo" in Bridge---makes it difficult to view and edit files.  What am I missing??  Thanks!

  • Edited a short video. Program Crashed. I can see the video still saved but can't view it or edit it.

The top of the picture, the "new event 1" i can do anything with. I can cut it down and view it but the video i was working on, the lower half of the screen the "RBFD" file i can't do anything with. Can't open it, view it or edit it. I'm attempting to add the top video to it but i can't do that either.

Ok, did that and one of the times it actually came up but i wasn't able to view nor add any more video. I decided to delete it and start fresh. Did so and closed out of the program opened it back up and it continues to show this file.  I can delete it but every time i restart Imovie it reappears. But i uploaded the same clip i was originally editing and imovie continues to freeze. And i can't even force quit it i have to manually turn my computer off or else i can't do anything. The file on the bottom is what continues to come up but also is there anyway to stop the freezing. Anyway to reinstall the program or anything. I've tried the "go to the library and delete that certain file" and that doesn't seem to have done anything unless i'm not doing it correctly.

  • Can't view thumbnails of tif files...

Bridge CS4 was working fine before I installed a new OCR software program. Now I can't view any thumbnails of files saved with a tif or tiff extensions. I checked the file type and it is associated with Photoshop CS4, not sure what has happened or how to fix it.
    Any help would be appreciated...
    ~Vince

Not a computer geek, but this shot tells me the file is not a tif but an omniPage file.
I googled omnipage and came up with this.  Hope it is helpful and you have not already been there, done that.
Looks like this is for XP, but if you have Vista procedure should be similar.
    Question
I've just installed Omnipage Pro.  I've discovered that it has altered
all of the image file associations on my machine. (God, that ****es me
    off when they do that!)
    Answer
Click the "Restore" button in the File Types dialog, and click OK. Then to
fix the association settings, try the fix from here:

  • IPhoto 11 how can I view original and edited photo

I am new to imac and have been editing photos with iphoto 11. After editing a photo I can see the edited photo, but how can I view the original?
Also does iphoto keep all edited versions of a photo?
    Thanks

If you want to see the original image then hold the shift key when in edit mode.
Also does iphoto keep all edited versions of a photo?
Not exactly sure what you mean by that... with iPhoto 11, when you edit a pic nothing on the original pic is changed, and all your editing decisions are recorded in the database. Next time you view the image these decisions are applied to the image as you view it. So, iPhoto records the edit history. Subsequent edits work on the aggregrate history, or you can revert to the original and start over.
If you want to have multiple versions (say, one in in  B&W, one in Sepia) then you need to duplicate the image.
Note that the versions are all virtual, based on the Master. Deleting the master will also delete the versions.

  • Please Help. I can't view thumbnails on Iphoto '08 after backing up

    Hi,
Today I backed up my photos on Iphoto '08 to my external harddisk and deleted the photos on Iphoto afterwards on my macbook to save some space.
Now, having added new photos to my Iphoto library I can't view the events in thumbnails view.
I've already tried to rebuild the Iphoto '08 library with no success.
If I format my macbook will it solve the problem?
    Please help me!
    Many thanks

After I made a archive copy, I renamed the archiving copy "Iphoto Library old"
then I went to Iphone Library on my macbook and put that in trash.
Then I pressed the option key and opened Iphoto and created a new Iphoto Library.
Iphoto was working fine. I've imported new photos to my Iphoto, but when I go in to the Events,
I see one single photo each time, not all of the photos of all the events like before.
I add photos to my library pressing the import button after connecting my digi cam to my mac.

  • I'm unable to browse my recently uploaded photos to choose one for ebay, because they are automatically in an event.  How do I download those onto ebay?

Recently I am unable to select photos while posting on ebay.  In the past, I would click on "Browse"; all photos from the last12 months would appear for me to be able to "Choose", and the photo(s) would appear ready to be uploaded in my ad. Now I ee my recently downloaded photos from my camera are going into "Events" which I did not designate.
Therefore, I am unable to choose my photo to be downloaded on ebay, because they are in "Events".  Why is this?
    Thanks for any help.
    Norma G.

Since iPhoto '08 photos ahve been in events - prior to that they were in rolls - same as events but with a different name
