Hi guys.
Hoping for some advice, I want to watch the streaming keynote from the apple website on my mac.. the first place you would expect seamless quicktime support. It opens the quick time app, and then is just unwatchable, whether I pic low, medium, high or HD. Anyone else experiencing this?

No he's not. Points can ONLY be awarded by the original topic starter. Points are not awarded by simply posting.
My answer was based on it's not really that much harder to use than plugging it in.
but I think the follow up would be ---HOW
Follow the very. very simple instructions that came with the AppleTV.
    Plug AppleTV in
    Connect it to your TV.
    Turn on AppleTV.
Launch iTunes on your computer and enable Home Sharing.
Settings > Computers and turn on Home Sharing. Use the same  AppleID as you use in iTunes on your computer.

  • I can't watch DVD movie on my MacBook Pro (13-inch, Early 2011). Why?

    i have a Macbook pro 13"
    Mac OS X version 10.6.8
    Processor 2.3GHz Intel Core i5
    Memory 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
I tried to mount a DVD movie disc into my macbook but it automatically ejects without running.
My mac has Windows on bootcamp. The disc wouldn't run on windows as well.
Is there any problem with my mac? I rmb i could watch DVD on my mac.

    Hey lilnaix,
Thanks for the question. Based on the information you have provided, it sounds like you are experiencing issues with the SuperDrive on your MacBook Pro. The following resource provides some great troubleshooting information.
Apple Computers: Troubleshooting the slot-loading SuperDrive - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/HT2801
While you should definitely give the entire article a read, I have highlighted a particular section that may resolve your issue:
Accepts discs but they don't mount or are automatically ejected
    1. Make sure the drive is not placed upside down. The aluminum enclosure should be facing up as shown in section 1.
    2. Check the disc's surface for scratches and dirt, since these things can prevent the disc from appearing on the desktop.
    3. Connect the MacBook Air SuperDrive directly to the computer's USB port instead a USB hub.
    4. Reset the System Management Controller (SMC).
    5. Ensure your drive can read the specific type of disc being used. The System Profiler or System Information may provide additional information regarding what media your computer supports.
    - OS X Snow Leopard v10.6 or earlier: Open Apple System Profiler by choosing "About this Mac" from the Apple () menu. Then, click More Info.
    - OS X Lion v10.7 and later: Click the Apple () menu and then hold down the Option key. Choose System Information from the menu.
    6. If the disc continues to not be recognized, contact Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider, or make an appointment with an Apple Retail Store.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Can't connect Apple Wireless Trackpad to MacBook Pro

I have a 15" MacBook Pro that is about 6 months old running Lion. I have a Magic Mouse and a Wireless Trackpad. I always use the track pad. I have the same setup at home as at work. Yesterday I worked from home, today I'm back at work, but now my Trackpad at work won't connect. My magic mouse connects just fine. I replaced the batteries and that didn't help. I got another wireless trackpad off of someone else's desk and it won't connect either. So it seems to be just an issue with the Trackpad as my Magic Mouse works fine. But I prefer the trackpad because the magic mouse flares up my RSI.

Nevermind. I fiddled & fiddled an it finally connecting. It seemed to work when I was in the wireless trackpad connection screen, while searching for the device I would hold the button on my trackpad until the light turned off, then pressed it once again. It then pulled up the name of my trackpad. I selected the name of the trackpad and while it was trying to connect I did the same thing - hold the button down until the light turned off, then clicked it once immediately after.
Now I see why they call it a magic trackpad. It requires magic to get it to connect.

  • Airplay mirroring keeps cutting out when watching apple tv from a macbook pro

Recently I have had difficulties watching any itunes movies or downloaded shows on my tv using apple tv. While watching the movie or show on my tv,  airplay mirroring will shut off without warning and the movie continues playing on my macbook but in order to start watching on my tv again, I have to reconnect to airplay mirroring (which sometimes works only to shut off again several minutes later, or I get an error for airplay). I have an OS X version 10.8.5. and my apple tv devise is less than a year old. I never had this problem before with my apple tv. Any ideas about what might be wrong, or what I can do to fix this?

Try changing your energy saver settings.   Make sure the macbook is plugged in and change both display and computer sleep to never.  When your display goes to sleep airplay will shut off.  I don't watch a lot of tv on airplay from my mac, but this works for when I'm streaming radio or music.  I suggest getting a cheap iPod touch (with airplay) on craigslist if you don't have an iPhone.  I've seen them as low as $30.  Then get the Air Video app ($3) and the Remote app (free).  These two apps take care of all of my tv/movie watching needs.
If your appleTV is too far from your wireless router then you will have trouble using any of these features.  Try purchasing an extra long (100') cat5 cable from monoprice.com and moving your router to a more central area of your house.  You can even put a second router in your home using this cat5 and get great internet connection everywhere!

  • I can't play apple trailers on my  macbook pro

I keep getting this when i try to play trailers on apple site..my computer has quicktime player - this only recently started happening - what's going on?

I have the same problem and I tried installing and unistalling Silverlight from my system but did not work. I had a chat with someone on Netflix and he told me that this is a Silverlight problem an Mac and the browser who use it, he refer me to use Google Chrome instead because don't need Silverlight and it worked. Now for Netflix on my Macbook I'll use Chrome.

You can use AirPlay to display your MacBook screen on the Apple TV, but that depends on your MacBook - About AirPlay Mirroring in OS X Mountain Lion

  • Apple Unibody 13.3" MacBook Pro (Mid-2010): 4GB vs. 8GB DDR3 1066MHz Memory (RAM).

    Apple Unibody 13.3" MacBook Pro (Mid-2010): 4GB vs. 8GB DDR3 1066MHz Memory (RAM).
    1. About my Mac.
         Processor: Intel® Core 2 Duo (2.66GHz)
         Memory (RAM): 4.00GB DDR3 1066MHz (2 x 2.00GB)
Hard Drive: 320GB 5400RPM (Apple Stock HD)
         Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 320M (256MB)
Operating System: Mac OS X Lion (10.7.1)
    2. My concerns/questions
For quite some time now, I've been planning to upgrade the memory (RAM) of my MacBook Pro from 4.00GB (Apple Stock) to 8.00GB. In terms of "FASTER BOOT TIMES, IMPROVED RESPONSIVENESS (OPENING and CLOSING PROGRAMS, FILES & ETC.), SMOOTHER GRAPHICS, ABILITY TO OPEN MORE PROGRAMS SIMULTANEOUSLY AND OVERALL IMPROVEMENT IN PERFORMANCE", does it really make a BIG difference?
If ever I am going to pursue this upgrade, should I let Apple do the upgrade or buy the parts and do it myself?
If I am going to buy the parts and install it myself, what brand do you recommend? Crucial, Kingston, OWC & etc.?
Why does Apple charge so much for memory (RAM) upgrades? Is the memory module they are using any special compared to the ones we can find in Amazon (Crucial, Kingston, OWC & etc.)?
Thanks for helping me out with my concerns.

I recommend OWC RAM because it's reasonably priced and OWC's support is great if you ever need it. I recommend installing the RAM yourself because it's dead simple. There is no good reason for anyone ever to pay Apple's prices for RAM.
I don't think you will see faster boot times with more RAM, but that shouldn't be a concern, because there's seldom any need to shut down or restart a MBP. Just put it to sleep when you aren't using it, unless you won't use it again for more than two or three days. Opening and closing programs won't benefit significantly from more RAM either, but when running multiple large programs at once, you will see a significant improvement in their performance. It's well worth the small investment ($65) to upgrade from 4GB to 8GB.

    You cannot do this.
I want to use  apple TV with macbook pro .do i have to buy any special connecting cable?BTW I don't have TV set.
    You need a TV.
The MacBook connects tot eh AppleTV wirelessly.
The AppleTV is to play iTunes content from your MacBook on a TV.
"Apple TV gives you access to the best 1080p HD content — including blockbuster movies, hit TV shows, live sports, your music, photos, videos, and more — right on your widescreen TV. You can even play content from your iOS device or Mac on your TV using AirPlay."

  • Where can I buy a battery for a MacBook Pro 17", year 2010?

Where can I buy a battery for a MacBook Pro 17", year 2010?
Already saw how to replace on youtube:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42qcvlftmcM
Now I'm looking for a seller on e-bay. Anyone has bought recently and can refer?
All tips are welcome and thanks in advance!

Personally, I wouldn't purchase a battery from eBay for an expensive MBP.  What you get is what you paid for (buyer beware).
Call around to your local AS or AASP for prices.  Do a Google or Bing search.
