iPhone 3g, firmware 2.2: when I tap on the play video button on BBC iplayer, media player is seemed to load but everytime the same error message comes out "this video could not be played"! Do I need to download any software to get iplayer work on my phone? I got my phone from Hong Kong and i'm using Virgin SIM, I wonder does it have anything to do with the SIM...please help!

No, you don't need extra software to view the BBC iPlayer on your iPhone and even if you did you wouldn't be able to download and install it because the iPhone doesn't work like that.
I suspect your problem lies with the fact you're using a jailbroken iPhone.

Websites and third party Apps need enabling before they will allow AirPlay of Video content. Some Website/App developers have not enabled their products, some simply haven't got around to it yet, others have stated that they won't be enabling AirPlay (likely as a result of licensing issues)
The BBC iPlayer currently isn't enabled.

You can also watch about 50 channels of live TV (including all BBC and ITV channels) if you point Safari at "TvCatchup".
Tell "somebody" that Flash is not required.

I have tried in safe mode and as expected it makes no difference. I am still not able to view in full screen like IE it just shows a blank white screen. I was able to view full screen with the same extensions before so removing them has not made any difference.

I was watching bbc iplayer and my ipod touch crashed. it has a white blank screen so I tried to link it up to Itues but even Itunes doesn't recognise my Ipod. Help!!!!!!

I was watching BBC Iplayer and my ipod crashed. I now have a white screen and it won't even sync to Itunes. I have tried to reset it by pressing the home button for 10 seconds and it is still the same.

If the DVDs are protected, then you can't legally rip them. Otherwise you have to rip the DVD, convert it to iPhone format, send to iTunes and sync.

Depending how you did the installation, you may still have Flash, but it will need updating to the latest version (not least for security reasons).

iPhones don't play "everything." If the video is Flash video, it won't play. YouTube accessed from the website uses Flash and won't play, but the app accesses H.264 - HTML5 which does play.

Buy a suitably-sized external HD (allow for future increase of your internal data), preferably firewire but a USB drive will work. (Although it used to be that some USBs won't boot a Mac, but my 5-year-old SATA ex-internal in a USB case works OK, as do LaCie drives).
Download Carbon Copy Cloner (search for it). Its free (donations invited). I have used it for years, 100% reliable, and SuperDuper is also said to be good.
CCC is very easy to use. It asks you for the source disc (your Internal system HD) and the target disc (your new external). Press a button and it takes about an hour the first time, less later. Meanwhile, you can continue to use the computer.
The result is a bootable copy of everything (and that means every single thing) of your internal HD. For example, you can specify that copy as the start-up disk, or more commonly, hold the option key down when restarting the computer and when asked, choose the copy. Restarting on the clone can take me back to exactly where I was at 7 am that day. A huge life-saver. The loss of an internal HD without a backup (and it happened twice to me but I had a clone) would cause huge disruption.
I have CCC set to make a bootable copy at 7 am every day. If my HD failed in some way, I could get bace to exactly where I was at 7 am that morning.
I also have Time Machine set up, but it has failed three times and I would only use it to recover a recent file or two.
Another thought: When upgrading the computer's OS, I make another clone of the old system, just in case the new OS installation fails (or better, I install the new OS when booted on a very recent clone, so I can ditch the clone if the installation fails and return to the old OS on the internal). Also, I have a bootable copy of Snow Leopard for the remaining old software that will not run on Lion.

Hi, does anyone know why I cant stream BBC news, 4OD and 5OD. I am in the UK and have updated flash etc. I can stream youtube and BBC iPlayer?

Thanks for the suggestion, but have tried firefox with the same result. Thats what made me think it was a problem with the os.

I can't get bbc iplayer to work on my Nokia 5800

I have downloaded the latest bbc iplayer on to my Nokia 5800, even though I manually connect to wifi, it always asks to connect to t-mobile? (iplayer only works over the internet). So therefore can't play anything. I have changed the settings many times, still no joy, there is either a bug in iplayer or the operating (phone) system?
Can anyone help?

It won't work over mobile web, it has to be wifi.
To force it to use Wifi, Try this..
Go into in connectivity, destinations.
Create a new container called "paid methods" or anything else..
Re-organise your inetrnet connection methods, and move mobile web & wap into the paid methods folder.
Also temporarily make these 2 connection methods, so they require authorisation and prompt for password.
This way, there is no way mobile web and wap can start without your consent.
Ensure that your default (ticked) container, contains only wifi connections.
You should find now, that all internet connections go via Wifi only.
This is the way I do it.
I have to pay for mobile web and wap, so I move them in and out of my default container as and when I have no other alternative but to pay for it.
