Can't watch YouTube purchased movies on Apple TV

I purchased an Apple TV 3 with the knowledge that it supported YouTube. I can log in to my YouTube account, see my Favorites, Subscriptions, Watch Later, etc. But movies purchases on YouTube and placed into Favorites or Watch Later do not appear on Apple TV. I cannot find them anywhere on Apple TV. They do appear on my PC YouTube lists. How do I get movies I purchased and own on YouTube to show up and play on Apple TV?

It does but not all content is available outside of the website based on uploader preference, copyright etc.

Really? I need to check that out!
You should certainly be able to add content by reference to itunes from such a disk (even before the update) - so long as itunes knows the location of the file (set Preferences not to copy to local library when adding the media) it will stream it to AppleTV if the disk is available.
I hope you're right, but I'd be surprised if current Extremes can be upgarded to provide a full Home Sharing service - marvellous if they can but I'd be surprised as i've long said we need an Apple media server either based on TC or AE to do this kind of thing.

  • Can I watch iTunes-purchased movies from an Airport Extreme USB disk?

With the newest Airport firmware (7.6.1), it seems I should be able to do this.
My scenario is so basic, I can't understand why I'm having trouble achieving this.
    - I have a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.7.2 - since it's a laptop, I don't want to leave it on all the time.
    - I have an AirPort Extreme with a USB disk on it (that I use for backing up my MacBook), recently upgraded to newest firmware 7.6.1.
    - I have a recently purchased Apple TV hard-wired to the AirPort running firmware 4.4.4.
    - I have purchased movies though iTunes on the MacBook Pro.
I want to watch my iTunes-purchased movies on my Apple TV even when my MacBook Pro is sleeping. That is, I would like the movies to be accessible via iCloud, or stored on the USB disk connected to AirPort Extreme, or something/anything.
It seems obvious to me that with an all-Apple set up, and iCloud, this should be easy to achieve.
    What am I missing?
    Thanks,
    j

  • How many times can I watch a purchased movie?

    Dear community,
I just downloaded a movie via the iTunes store and I watched it successfully.
At my second try to watch it again, I received a message saying: "You can't watch this movie on this PC."
Anyone had this issue too?  I'm using iTunes 10.4 on Windows7 PC and this was my first movie download.
I paid 9.99 EUR for this movie (Salt) !!  I can't believe that this purchased movie can only be watched once!!
    Thanks for the feedback!
    Best regards

You own it.  You can watch it as many times as you like.
What exactly does the error say?

How can I watch my previously purchased movies on my ipad?

You cannot stream them to your iPad unfortunately... You can download them however. Go to the iTunes Store app -> tap the purchased button at the bottom right -> tap the view: Music in the top left and select Movies. From there you can download the one you want...

  • How can I watch a rented movie on apple tv on my pc?

I rented a movie on apple tv and I want to see it on the pc, how do I make it? when accessing my itunes not the film is available to watch

A number of people have reported similar issues recently, many appear to have found a discrepancy of some kind in their account settings and making changes to these settings or simply resetting them has resolved the matter.
Check your account details are correct, check that you are using the correct details for Location, Region and Time Zone. You may want to change these settings and then change them back to see if that helps.
Also check your payment details, make sure your details are exactly how they appear on your credit card statement, you might also try changing some of those details, saving them and changing them back again.
You might also try logging out of and then back into your iTunes account (Settings > iTunes Store > Apple ID’s > Sign Out) and restarting your router. (Some have reported that after doing this, they need to check for rentals even though it may report that there aren’t any, after which rentals once again appear in the ‘movies’ feature)
Rentals should appear under their own heading in the ‘Movies’ feature, you might also check at Settings > iTunes Store > Check For Rentals.

  • Can't Play Recently Purchased Movie On Apple TV

Recently purchased Flicka via Apple TV, played perfectly for a few days. It shows up under "My Movies" but when I click on it to play it says " No Content." It shows up under my iTunes on my computer and plays fine on the computer but not the TV. It also shows in the content of the Apple TV on my computer's iTunes account. Any suggestions?

Tried rebooting, unplugged it and plugged it back in and nothing worked. We have played the movie several times and no issues until today. We have never had any issues and everything plays normal except this one movie. I just disconnected it from iTunes and re syncing it again to see if this solves the problem.

  • Can't watch a purchased movie on the apple tv

unfortunatly the movie keeps downloading but I can watch it all on the Ipad while on the TV I only hear the sonor- any body an yidea how to solve the issue?

Movies rented on Apple TV aren't transferable to another device. If its taking awhile to load then its an issue with your network.
What is your speed via speedtest.net
    1080p requires 8mbps
    720p needs 6mbps
You can change to SD in settings
Interference can cause issues, verify via istumbler or netstumbler
Should be using ISPs DNS (settings - network - DNS should be automatic)

  • HT3209 Why does apple not allow me to download an hd movie to my pc? Why doesnt apple get it that I simply want to download a hd movie to my computer so that I can repeatedly watch the hd movie via apple tv to my pc as opposed to using isp bandwidth?

    See title.

This does not answer you question as to "why does apple", because for some reason Apple will treat us like children and try to do everything for you. An unrelated example would be trying to change the IP address of an Airport Extreme Base Station. You cannot. It will always grab the first IP in your subnet whether you like it or not. OK I digress. What I can say is that iTunes, in it's infinite wisdom, will look at your display and decide whether it will playback a HD movie (minimum 1280x800). If not, based upon display settings, it will refuse you the HD download. The "why" I cannot answer other than if you buy the HD movie on any other device like your iPhone 4 or iPad, you cannot share it from your library. So, maybe they get to sell more copies of the movie? That's my best guess. I've been an Apple guy since I first bought my Apple IIe. But honestly, I fume at them for being entirely non-responsive to their customers. Another example is the loss of the scroll arrows starting in OS Lion. Despite thousands and maybe millions of customer complaints, they refuse to listen. (Wow, I feel so much better...)

  • HT1657 Can I watch my rented movie from Apple TV on my macbook?

I rented a movie on my Apple TV and would like to finish watching it on my MacBook.  Is this possible?

Read the FAQ that you linked:
If you download a rented movie on your iPhone 4 or later, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV: It is not transferable to any other device or computer."

  • Can't watch a rented movie via Apple TV

On Saturday I rented Anchorman 2 on Apple TV. I chose rent now and watch later. When I got home later in the evening I got an 'unauthorized' error, I backed out and back in, and got 30 or so minutes to watch this movie. The whole point of renting early was to not have to wait on a download.
Then, it never played, just spun and spun. All other Web services are working fine. But now, since I've technically pressed 'play', I'm running out of time on the movie that I guess I  now have to watch tonight or lose my $6.
So 1. I wonder why the movie won't play, and 2. how do I get a refund?
    Thanks for any help.

Jason - Did you figure out how to get the refund? I rented Intersteller last night and it was stuck every few seconds busy loading.. my internet connection was pretty good 50MBPS and restarted AppleTV few times and no luck..
