Can`t we configure peer-link on M1 cards?

can`t we configure peer-link on M1 cards? its showing an error while i am configuring the vpc peer link on M1 card.
ERROR: Operation failed: [Interface is not capable of acting as peer-link]

Hi,
The PC peer link can be configured on M1 series I/O modules, but only on the 10GE modules. From the Configuring vPC section of the Nexus 7000 configuration guide:
vPC Peer Links
A vPC peer link is the link that is used to synchronize the states between the vPC peer devices. Both ends of the link must be on 10-Gigabit Ethernet interfaces.
What type are your M1 I/O modules? I can't see from what you attached.

  • Can some explain vpc peer-link vlan issues for me?

I remove vlan from vpn peer-link , the vpc is gonna down.
I know this is design ,but why.
    thank you!
    Tom

    Thanks Chad!
Kept racking my brain on that one, and the only time it would make any sense (ie, I was trying to fit a square peg in a round hole), is if you have IGP peering to each 7K from an orphan port (ex, FW), the IGP ECMP hashes a packet to the far-end 7K, and then the traffic sent to the directly attached 7K must be sent across the vpc-peerlink -- and in theory shouldn't be dropped. This is, of course, until you add peer-gateway command, which confuses matters a bit -- especially from an IGP control-plane perspective, but also in this loop-prevention rule, since the local 7K will handle the packets destined to the other's 7K MAC.
To complicate matters worse, the latest 5K release notes say to exclude-vlan for peer-gateway for your backup router vlan... still have to dive into that one.

  • Wiki file attachments - can the wiki be configured to link to a file already on the server rather than uploading it into the page?

Can the wiki be configured to link to a file already on the server rather than uploading it into the page? This would enable users to open (and edit) the original server hosted document rather than downloading a static copy that can't be edited and synced back into the wiki page.
As a workaround I've tried attaching an alias to a file but it doesn't work - the wiki instead uploads the aliased file.
From what I can work out, the default wiki behaviour is to upload a document to a wiki page, which creates a copy of the uploaded document in the wiki database. This copy has no connection to the original document. It can be downloaded and edited, but the edits are not saved back into the wiki hosted version of the document.
I'd like to be able to upload a link or alias to a document (with preview please!) already on the server. A user could then preview the document or click to open and edit it.
The only way I can do this at the moment is to create a link "afp://123.../doc.rtf" to the original. This is timeconsuming and confusing for non-technical users and doesn't offer the benefits of the attach function (ie document preview).
Is there any way the wiki can be configured to link to documents already on the server using the attach functionality?

An update for anyone in a similar situation.
Patch 3944727 for 9.0.4.1 that solves this issue: "USER LOV IASM11SHIP EDIT USER LOV SHOULD SHOW THE NICKNAME ATTRIBUTE." However, the patch is mutually exclusive with the latest CPU's and there's no plan to merge the pacthes given the dwindling support for 9.0.4.1. So that patch is pretty much worthless.
I've been told that this patch is included in newer portal versions, so the real solution is an upgrade.

  • VLANs 133-134 on Interface port-channel10 are being suspended. (Reason: Vlan is not allowed on Peer-link)

I just added 2 vlans Port-channel10 on two of my Nexus 5000's that go from the to a 6509 Catalyst switch. I get this error when I do a show log:(VLANs 133-134 on Interface port-channel10 are being suspended. (Reason: Vlan is not allowed on Peer-link) When I do a sh int trunk I see Po10 (int Eth1/3) that Vlans Err-disabled on Trunk. Another odd thing when I do an spanning tree summary neith 133 or 134 is added in to the summary? Why would spanning-tree be ignoring these two new vlans?
    They are configured as so:
    interface port-channel10
    description "vpc 10 eth1/3 to 6506 po10 ten5/4"
    switch port mode trunk
    switchport trunk native vlan 999
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 130.,133-134,139,145,155,160-175,239,242,254,999
    vpc10
What can I do to get 133 and 134 vlans to stop erroring on Port-channel 10 on both Nexus 5000's?

Firstly I should say I have not used Nexus switches so the following advice should be treated with caution.
Have you added the same vlans to the allowed vlans on your vPC peer link. That is what the error message seems to be telling you ie. they are not currently allowed.
They need to be allowed otherwise the vlans are suspended which is what is happening.
As I say I haven't used these switches so I can't say for sure if there is any downtime/disruption when you modify the allowed list but I think that is your problem from what I can see.

  • VPC Peer-Link Failure

    Hello,
In the case I have two N5k acting as a vPC peers and I lose the vPC peer-link between two of them, but I do not lose the vPC peer-keepalive link, what would happen when the vPC peer-link comes back again?
As I understand in the case of vPC peer-link failure all vPC member ports on the secondary N5k will be shut down. When the vPC peer-link comes back again what would happen?
I have read that in that case the vPC member ports will not come back automatically, but they will remain disabled until you do manual recovery. Is that really so?
Is there some way that we can automate the process upon recovery?
    Thanks

The reload restore command has been removed/replaced and the new feature is
now called auto recovery. Auto recovery covers the use case that reload
    restore addressed, plus more.
If both switches reload, and only one switch boots up, auto-recovery allows
that switch to assume the role of the primary switch. The vPC links come up
after a configurable period of time if the vPC peer-link and the
peer-keepalive fail to become operational within that time. If the peer-link
comes up but the peer-keepalive does not come up, both peer switches keep
the vPC links down. This feature is similar to the reload restore feature in
Cisco NX-OS Release 5.0(2)N1(1) and earlier releases. The reload delay
period can range from 240 to 3600 seconds.
When you disable vPCs on a secondary vPC switch because of a peer-link
failure and then the primary vPC switch fails, the secondary switch
reenables the vPCs. In this scenario, the vPC waits for three consecutive
keepalive failures before recovering the vPC links.
The vPC consistency check cannot be performed when the peer link is lost.
When the vPC peer link is lost, the operational secondary switch suspends
all of its vPC member ports while the vPC member ports remain on the
operational primary switch. If the vPC member ports on the primary switch
flaps afterwards (for example, when the switch or server that connects to
the vPC primary switch is reloaded), the ports remain down due to the vPC
consistency check and you cannot add or bring up more vPCs.
For more information, please refer to the Operations Guide: As a best practice,
auto-recovery should be enabled in vPC.

    Alex

  • VPC peer-link on N7k's 1Gig link?

We are in process of setting up vPC peer between 2 N7ks over a 1Gig link, has anybody done this before? Couldn't find any documents in cisco site which talks about this. All of the documents points to setting up using 10G links.
    Cheers
    Raja

    Hello Raja,
The vPC peer link must be 10Gb Ethernet otherwise it will not form. It is also mentioned here.
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/datacenter/sw/4_2/nx-os/interfaces/configuration/guide/if_nxos/if_vPC.html

The vPC peer keep alive link by all means can be 1Gb.

  • Peer-link - mixing M1 and M2 cards on the same chassis

    Hi guys,
for migrations propuses i need to add 2 links from a M2 card to the peer-link port-channel already configured in a M1 card:
    N7K-1 VPC Peer link N7K-2
    M2 ----------------------- M2
    M1 ---------------------- M1
I cant find any documentacion for this specific cards,
    we are running 6.2(8a).
    Anyone can advise,
    thx
    regards

No, you cannot configure the ports from an M1 and M2 series linecard in the same port
channel. This is referenced in our N7K Interfaces Configuration Guide at the following
    link:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/datacenter/sw/6_x/nx-os/interfaces/configuration/
    guide/if_portchannel.html#wp1888267
Starting with revision 6.2, you can mix any M Series I/O modules to create a vPC peer as
    illustrated in the following table.

  • Duplicate address across VPC peer-link on Nexus 7010

Just set up a VPC peer-link between two 7010 switches.  The peer-link is a port-channel of two 10Gb connections.  On both sides I'm seeing this in the log:
    2010 Jan  5 04:27:34 CRMCN7K-1 %ARP-2-DUP_SRC_IP:  arp [3069]  Source address of packet received from 0024.f716.b341 on Vlan401(port-channel10) is duplicate of local, 10.180.0.17
    and on the other
    2010 Jan  5 04:23:39 CRMCN7K-2 %ARP-2-DUP_SRC_IP:  arp [3052]  Source address of packet received from 0024.f71f.a7c1 on Vlan401(port-channel10) is duplicate of local, 10.180.0.18
VLAN 401 is the only VLAN on them right now with a Layer 3 address.  What am I missing?  Everything looks correct.  Port-Channel10 is up and running fine..or so it seems.

    Hey Nashwj,
What version of NX-OS are you running?
Are the 7K in a stand alone environment (lab or similar) or connected to other production network devices?
Are both of the VLANs carried across the vPC peer link port-channel?
Are both of the VLANs carried across any vPC port-channel?
Do you have HSRP setup on the VLAN 401 interfaces on each of the 7Ks?  If so, what are the real and vip IP addresses?
If you can either provide answers to the above or configuration snapshots of the vPC and SVI interfaces for your VLANs on each of the 7Ks a solution should be reachable.

  • How can i add a new link to Portal favorites?

    Hi,
I have created a portal application and configured it to a porta frame work page byy adding iViews and portal pages.
I would like to display an iView as a link in the  portal favorites. I have added it to portal favorites as related link. But nothing is displayed in the portal favorites when i logged in as application user.
How can i add a link to the created iView just like  the "DeveloperContent" link shown in portal favorites when we login as portal administrator?
    Your help and suggestions solicited...
    Best regards,
    Sudheesh

    Hi Sudheesh,
The Related Links option is for Content Administrators to add links that they think will be useful for a certain page or iView...an end user can't add their own links to the Related Links iView. Also, you don't need Knowledge Management installed in the Portal for the Related Links iView to work. Also, Related Links will be available only on the pages/iViews that the Content Administrator has created them.
Read more about Related Links here:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/e3/1d37600aa111d7b84700047582c9f7/frameset.htm
Portal Favorites is a nice option for end users to decide which iViews or pages they would like to be available from every Portal page.
To open new iViews/pages in a new window, rather than in the current Content Area, adjust the Workprotect mode of the portal (either the user can do it for their preference or the Administrator can do it for everyone):

  • Can i keep configuration settings (polling frequency...) outside BPEL

    Dear All,
Can i keep configuration settings (polling frequency and other which are typically set in BPEL adapter outside BPEL
so that at runtime BPEL will look at this configuration file instead of settings inside BPEL.
    Regards
    Arc

I think you can. If you define them as properties in the Adapter wsdl (by prepending a $), then you can set their values in bpel.xml. And the values in bpel.xml are exposed in the bpel console under the descriptors link. so you can modify these values at runtime, without having to undeploy the bpel process.
