Can't write to TestExec.ini

I had made some changes to a 1st level subsequence (one that is called by the  main sequence) and ran some test and all was fine. Then I opened another 1st level subsequence to make similar changes. It opened but I got a message stating that TS couldn't write to TestExec.ini. That was because it was not checked out from ClearCase. Why did TS want to update this file at this time?
Inquiring minds want to know.......
Thanks,

Hi Larui,
When does this error occur? I've found a KB on error code -17205 that might help you out. It's listed below.
Problem
The NI DataFinder is indexing files on my machine (installs with DIAdem or LabVIEW DataFinder Toolkit or DataFinder Server Edition), and I sometimes receive errors -5001 and -17205 when generating XML or ATML reports from TestStand example sequences. I am able to generate HTML and ASCII reports without any errors – what is causing these errors?
Solution
An explanation of the cause of these errors is provided below. This issue (as described below) is fixed in the NI DataFinder 2011 when TestStand 2010 SP1 or newer is installed.
The NI DataFinder periodically indexes files in certain default directories, one of which is the National Instruments Public directory. When the DataFinder attempts to index a file, it grabs exclusive read access to the file such that no other process can read or write to the file.
When generating an XML or ATML report, TestStand obtains and releases write access to the file on multiple occasions when creating the file, writing to the file, adding/removing root tags, etc., and TestStand does not expect other applications to lock the file. By default, TestStand will attempt to generate a report file in the same directory as the sequence file being run.
You may encounter the above mentioned errors if all of the following apply:
You install a DataPlugin for TestStand XML or ATML report files
You generate an XML or ATML report for a TestStand sequence, such as a TestStand  example sequence file
DataFinder is configured to index the directory where TestStand generates the report, such as the <TestStand Examples> directory.
To work around this issue, you can manually exclude a directory where TestStand generates reports from NI DataFinder’s list of Search Areas (directories to index).
The Version Selector application installed by TestStand 2010 SP1 automatically configures DataFinder 2011 to exclude files in the <TestStand Public> directory for all version of TestStand installed on a machine. Thus you will not encounter the above mentioned error when running TestStand example sequences if TestStand 2010 SP1 or newer is installed and DataFinder 2011 is indexing files on your machine.
I hope this helps.

  • Testexec.ini access denied...

    Hi,
    While running on a test station using the teststand deployment, TestStand randomly crashes by the end of the sequence execution and a pop-up appears to specify: testexec.ini access denied... More precisely, it crashes between the end of my test sequence and before the "PASSED"/"FAILED" pop-up appears... Afterward, the testexec.exe just crashes and kills all remaining execution as the application closes...
    When I go to my \cfg files, I can found a file INI$$0.TMP and if I compare it with the Testexec.ini file, they are identical and with the same date/time....
    I should also precise that, this morning, the issue occured after the 8th consecutive execution... Therefore, this is not a write/access permission issue... Anyway, I configured windows to provide the "FULL CONTROL" permission on my test engine directory / deployment directory (including the cfg dir) which is located to "C:\ATE_Teststand_engine\".
    I really need to get this fixed as soon as possible... Is there a way to prevent teststand updating this file after each execution?
    PC Configuration:
    Win7 SP1
    Teststand 2013 base deployment
    Labview 2013 f2 runtime engine
    Thank you for help!
    C.

    Hi jigg,
    You right, my config files are located at "C:\ATE_Teststand_engine\Cfg\", but my station options are configured accordingly... Furthermore, as mentioned in the issue description, the problem occured on the 8th consecutive execution, so the files should be loaded properly...
    «« Look in Configure>>Station Options>>Preferences tab.  Is that set to  your cfg folder? »» yes
    Maybe some additionnal info:
    I use the Sequential process model
    I run 3 instances of the test, i.e. I pressed "Test UUTs" 3 times. However, when the problem occured, only 1 thread was terminating, the others were running my sequence...
    I use a custom opertor interface, but based on the teststand simple operator interface.

  • Deploying testexec.ini

    All,
    I've got a custom OI and process model that I am trying to transfer over to another computer, to do this I've created a LabVIEW installer from 3 source distributions and one application.  I went with 3 source distributions because each goes to a different path.
    The 3 source distributions are as follows:
    - Source vis
    - process model
    - config files (StationGlobals.ini, Users.ini and TestExec.ini)
    My struggle enters the scene when I try and specify what process model I want to be used.  My plan was to do this by transferring TestExec.ini to C:\ProgramData\National Instruments\TestStand 2012\Cfg and hoping that TestStand took the changes; well TestStand does not seem to load the correct TestExec.ini, so my questions are as follows:
    - Is there a better way to specify what process model I want TestStand to use?
    - I do not delete the old config files from C:\ProgramData\National Instruments\TestStand 2012\Cfg, does that cause me a problem to write over them?
    Thanks,
    Bill

  • Including TestExec.ini in Deployment

    We need to include TestExec.ini into a TestStand Deployment to allow TestStand to automatically login to the Windows System user.  Unfortunately when we include our TestExec.ini in our TS build, running the resultant image gives us a strange ActiveX Error.
    Our system runs fine without TestExec.ini in the build but doesn't automatically login to the Windows User, can we use a cutdown version of TestExec.ini that just contains the auto windows login bit?
    Regards
    Steve
    There are 10 types of people in the world that understand binary, those that do and those that don't.

    Steve,
    I take you have a customised IO.
    If you dont initialy have the testexec.ini file once deployed on your target system, then the file is generated using the default setting when you first run the OI application.
    What is this the strange error you are seeing.
    Do you use a third party installer or are you using the TestStand installer created by the deployment tool?
    You might be able to run a sequencefile which setups up the login by teststand API call StationOption.AutoLoginSystemUser.

  • I can't write to my Drobo

    I have a new iMac (like this):
    I am trying to connect the Drobo that I used to use with my Windows Computer.  It has 4 drives @ 3TB each, and the whole drive is over half full, so I am not terribly interested in the cost that it would take to "back up" that whole disk pack.  It took some shenanigans (reboots of both the drive and the computer; disconnections, and reconnections; fiddling around with MAC Disk Utility) to get it to show up in Finder at all.  I still have issues with it unmounting and needing to remount it, but that's not my main issue.
    THE REAL PROBLEM:
    Though I can get the Drobo to show up in finder, and I can read from it, I can't write to it.  Based on some earlier searching I tried this terminal command, which helped it to show up in finder, but didn't seem to affect it's being read-only:

    Looking at another thread (partition map check failed because no slices were found), which I wandered into because I was getting this error in Disk Utility upon running Verify Disk because I got a failure when I tried to "mount" the drive in Disk Utility:

    Can anyone help me with a next step to make this drive read/writeable?

    Turns out that the Drobo needs to be plugged straight into computer. I had it via hub. Though it has worked for the past couple weeks in this configuration, the new update pushed it over the edge, I guess. Plugged in directly and working fine.

    Hi iTunes-1,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!  The error message you posted indicates a possible firmware update is needed for iTunes for Windows to work with your CD drive.
    iTunes for Windows: Updating the firmware on your CD or DVD drive - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201852
    Having outdated firmware can cause issues using CDs and DVDs with iTunes for Windows. Firmware is a type of software stored in a chip in hardware that can sometimes be updated.Identifying drives and firmware versions
    To run CD Diagnostics, follow the steps in this document.
    After following the steps to run CD Diagnostics linked above, look at section three to find out more about your optical drive(s).
    Here is an example of what section three might look like:
    In this example there are two drives. Drive E is a Samsung DVD-ROM drive with a model designation of SD-616 that has firmware version F000. Drive F is an NEC drive with a model designation of NR-7900A that has firmware version 1.08.Updating the firmware
    If the optical drive you are using came with your computer, check with the support site for your computer for a firmware update. Typically you will need to go to the support website for the computer maker and click on a "downloads" or "updates" link, and then enter your computer model designation and operating system version to see what updates are available. Then look through the available updates for a firmware update for your optical drive. Download the updater and run it. If you need assistance applying the update, contact the maker of your computer.
    If the optical drive you are using came as a separate part (was not included with a computer), check the support site for the drive maker for a firmware update. Sometimes the manufacturer is not clear in the CD Diagnostics results. In that case, you may just have to search the Internet for the drive model designation. You can usually find out who made the drive by looking through the results of such a search. Once you have identified who made your drive, go to the support website for that company. Look for a "downloads" or "updates" link, and then enter your optical drive model designation. Download the updater and run it. If you need assistance applying the update, contact the maker of the optical drive.Verifying that the firmware was updated
    Run CD Diagnostics again.
    Examine the CD Diagnostics results. The firmware version for the drive should be the new version.

    Also, you mentioned that you have been successful burning a CD with the Windows OS.  Make sure that you have closed all software programs that can access the CD burner so that there isn't a conflict for the drive.   Sometimes chaning the burn speed from "maximum" to 8x can also help in this situation.
    I hope this information helps ...

  • Can you write an excel file on client machine instead of on the server

    I am trying to user cfSpreadSheet functon. The first question I have is, can you write the file on a client machine? I tried but they all end up on the server drive. Scecond question, is there a way to do row and column range formating in CF9.0? SpreadsheetFormatCellRange function is only available for ColdFusion server version 9.01.
    Thanks.

    To expand on Dan's answer: CF doesn't have any interaction with the client browser at all: client->server comms are handled by the client and the web server; the web server simply asks CF to provide the response data if the file requested is a CF file.  But even then all CF does is process the requested file and return data to the web server.
    Also, one of the restrictions of the HTTP protocol is that that there is *no* *way* that the server can write to the client machine.  All it can do is send data to the client agent (eg: a web browser) in response to the client agent requesting it.  Can you imagine the sort of security problems one would open one's self up to if a remote web server could write to your PC????

  • How can I write to 4 different tables in database at the same time

    I have .mdb file which has 4 tables for each hardware, I have a labview main program which calls 4 sub programs for each hardware, all these 4 subprograms run parallely.
    One might finish one test early or late by milli seconds or seconds, the data has to be written to database file which has 4 tables inside.
    I am planning to open reference in main program and use the reference in sub programs, I will write to Table 1 for first sub program , table 2 for second sub program and so on,
    My question is can we write into one database file having 4 tables parallely/simulataneously? If no why?

    Try it.  It should work.  As long as you are opening the database once, and passing the reference around, I don't see how it would not work.
    You may run into troubles if two subvi's are trying to write simultaneously.  If so, use semiphores to lock out the action until done.
    Or you could use a producer consumer architecture where the producer would queue up the table name and data, and the consumer would write to the database.  The producer can be replicated in each subvi.  In other words, each subvi will contain its own enqueue code.  All subvi's and the consumer loop would have to run in parallel.

    Hello
      In crystal report version XI, can you write your query in sqlplus and then use the crystal report designer to build your report instead of using the GUI . I would like to be able to go database and show sql query and open that query and make changes directly there, is that possible on this version, if yes is there a setting somewhere? Please let me know.

  • How can I write a program that compiles without warnings?

    I tried the following with the 1.5 beta-compiler (build 28; I think):
    class Y {
         public static final class Pair<X,Y> {
           private X fst;
           private Y snd;
           public Pair(X fst, Y snd) {this.fst=fst; this.snd=snd;}
           public X getFirst() { return fst; }
           public Y getSecond() { return snd; }
           public String toString() { return "("+fst+","+snd+")"; }
      public static void main(String... args) {
         Pair[] pairArr = new Pair[10];              // supposed to be an array of Pair<Integer,Integer>
         for (int i=0; i<pairArr.length; i++)
             pairArr[i] = new Pair<Integer,Integer>(i,i);
         for (int i=0; i<pairArr.length; i++) {
             Pair<Integer,Integer> p = pairArr; // unchecked warning
         System.out.println(p);
         Integer first = p.getFirst();
         Integer second = p.getSecond();
    // ... more stuff ...
    It turns out that I get an unchecked warning when I extract an element from the array of pairs. Okay, that's fine. How can I avoid the warning? I had expected that an explicit cast would help.
      Pair<Integer,Integer> p = (Pair<Integer,Integer> )pairArr;
    With a cast I'm telling the compiler: "I _know_ what I'm doing; please trust me." But the compiler still issues a warning.
    How can I write a warning-free program in this case? The only thing I can think of, is not using the parameterized type Pair in its parameterized form. But it's not the idea of Java Generics that I refrain from using parameterized types. What am I missing?

    It turns out that I get an unchecked warning when I
    extract an element from the array of pairs. Okay,
    that's fine. How can I avoid the warning? I had
    expected that an explicit cast would help.
    Pair<Integer,Integer> p = (Pair<Integer,Integer>
    )pairArr;
    With a cast I'm telling the compiler: "I _know_ what
    I'm doing; please trust me."  But the compiler still
    issues a warning.  Yes, but at least you were able to change the warning from "unchecked assignment" to "unchecked cast" which is a little shorter ;-)
    Seriously , since arrays of generic types are disallowed, there is probably no way to get rid of these warnings - which makes a strong point for eliminating "unchecked" warnings altogether (see the other thread "selectively suppressing compiler warnings")

    In my program, I managed it with Execute SQL.vi, I change a number in a SQL statement(String) -> after this I push start and then it writes the statement in the Access-file.
    The problem is, it writes only one data per measurement in the file. How can I write all datas in the Access-file and measure the wave at the same time?
    Thanks for help!

    On the waveform palette, you will find a "to components" vi that you can break out the array of the waveform. You can then, using a for loop write all of the values from the waveform.
    Better yet, there are examples in the database toolkit manual on pages 3-13 to 3-15 that deal with reading arrays (and even has a waveform example).
    Good luck!

  • Error while relocating (Can't write file (no space)) - Help please

    I have been having trouble relocating master files since upgrading to Leopard. The problem doesn't seem to affect only Aperture. I can happen when using Finder or another application to move files from one drive to another. Other types of files don't seem to be affected, just my library of image files.
    The copy operation runs for a while then hangs up. The application doing the copy reports an error that that's the end. Aperture gives this error message: Error while relocating (Can’t write file (no space)). The Finder reports plenty of available space on the destination drive!
    I remember seeing a thread--but can't find it now--about a problem with certain xmp metatdata embedded into files causing problems with file operations.
    Hoping for a solution!

    It's possible that you might have a corrupt file. Have you tried to copy different files on to the destination drive? If those files copy fine, then narrow down the offending file by copying less images at a time.

  • Can't write cache file for while creating domain in soa 11.1.1.5 on HP-UX

    Hi,
    Installing SOA 11.1.1.5 on HP-UX and during domain creation/configuration I am getting the below errors
    **sys-package-mgr: can't write cache file for**
    and have lots of cache file errors for different packages
    Any idea what might be wrong and whats the cause of these errors and is it safe to ignore these errors if not what is the work arround. As I already looked at the below post but I don't find */var/tmp/wlstTemp* on my machine as suggested in the post below.
    SOA 11.1.1.5 install got can't write cache file
    So wondering if there's anything else I can do i.e. while creating or configuring a Domain pass some parameter to config.sh etc.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    I don't see python.cachedir in config.sh. Here is config.sh
    #!/bin/sh
    mypwd="`pwd`"
    # Determine the location of this script...
    # Note: this will not work if the script is sourced (. ./config.sh)
    SCRIPTNAME=$0
    case ${SCRIPTNAME} in
    /*)  SCRIPTPATH=`dirname "${SCRIPTNAME}"` ;;
      *)  SCRIPTPATH=`dirname "${mypwd}/${SCRIPTNAME}"` ;;
    esac
    # Set the ORACLE_HOME relative to this script...
    ORACLE_HOME=`cd "${SCRIPTPATH}/../.." ; pwd`
    export ORACLE_HOME
    # Set the MW_HOME relative to the ORACLE_HOME...
    MW_HOME=`cd "${ORACLE_HOME}/.." ; pwd`
    export MW_HOME
    # Set the home directories...
    . "${SCRIPTPATH}/setHomeDirs.sh"
    # Set the config jvm args...
    CONFIG_JVM_ARGS="${CONFIG_JVM_ARGS} -DCOMMON_COMPONENTS_HOME='${COMMON_COMPONENTS_HOME}'"
    export CONFIG_JVM_ARGS
    # Delegate to the main script...
    "${WL_HOME}/common/bin/config.sh" "$@"Thanks

  • I can't write to usb stick [solved]

    I've installed arch on my notebook yesterday. It took a few hours, but I got almost everything working correctly.
    My issue is that when I plug in a usb stick, it gets automatically mounted, but I can't write to it.
    I had the same issue with my ntfs data partition, but I solved it by adding an entry to /etc/fstab.
    Unfortunately that won't be  an efficient solution for usb sticks, since their partition type might vary.

    I don't think that the storage group covers this.  All USB storage devices that I have seem to come up as being part of the disk group.  You should really not make your user part of the disk group.
    If you read the post, and saw the info provided by the OP, you would see that he/she is trying to write to an iso, which is read-only.
