Alison, I sympathise with your situation. After 30+ years in the classroom myself I know well the pain that follows the 'upgrade' to the IT system that then won't run your tried and trusted computer program!
Try this on your iPad - it works on mine.
Try going to Settings - General - Accessibility - Zoom and switch it on (it seems to me it's 'off' by default).
Zooming is now controlled by 'three-finger' actions! (although the original two-finger pinch still operates as well, on actual photos though not videos, I find)
Double-tap with three fingers together and slide up the screen to zoom in.
Double-tap and slide down to zoom out.
Simple double-tap three fingers to return to normal size.
This works with videos. In fact it works even 'now', as I'm typing this here in Safari! It works on the 'home screen' itself! - it works in 'Notes'. It seems to work everywhere in iOS 7.1
So, get your video on screen - use three-finger-slide zoom to achieve required zoom level - play.

I told the genius bar what happened, and I already did the so called "steps" that apple reccommended on the site, which was reset network settings, restore iPhone. The genius bar gave me a replacement phone, so I was expecting that the problem would be over, but it isn't. It seems that it's iOS 6.1.3 which is the case of most public complaints on apple iPhone products. Not even 3 weeks after I got the phone replaced, it is doing it again, so I suspect I'm just going to get a replacement again? Unfortunately I only have until 5th of july 2013 until my 1 year warranty is up. After that, any issue I have, I have to purchase apple care. People are expecting this problem to be fixed but I don't see it being solved any time soon. This is horrible and really low, because I have been a good customer, when I talk to the people at the genius bar, I show the utmost respect I can to them for the work they put into their job, but somewhere there is a problem where something has gone wrong. Because of that, people that only have a one year warranty (which i received because I purchased my apple iPhone at an Optus outlet, once that one year warranty is up, I have to pay for a problem that isn't even my fault? That isn't how it should work, you should be fixing this problem so people can be happy customers and leave happy. You only lose iCloud data from other devices if you manually delete the data. If you Erase all content and data, you keep iCloud data elsewhere.

Locked out of iPhone. Can't update, access or save anything from my phone.

I was never able to access the cloud becuase of another problem where Apple seems to think I'm using an old email as my apple id. (i'm using gmail these days, and the old email- the one I don't use anymore was for comcast) and I kept getting alerts whenever I tried to use it: texting, net surfing, apps- would be interrupted. The message was of the old email address, and then it would ask for my password. I use the new email for buying things on itunes and what-not, so I would just ignore the alerts involving the comcast email.
To sign into the cloud, it ALWAYS wanted to use my comcast email. So I couldn't get into the cloud. So I was never able to back up my iphone/ save my pictures and videos.
The new update has been out for a few weeks now and I finally get around to updating my phone. (plug my phone into my macbook, itunes up and running) It gets through all the other processes pretty normal. Then a popup on my computer says that it cannot finish the update because of a lack of space. I delete a few albums, make space and try again. Now the screen- when not turned off- is stuck with an icon of the itunes note, and the image of the cord indicating that it is plugged in I suppose. My itunes on my computer is giving me only one option: Restore iPhone. (There's another button that says 'Check for update' but it's not clickable) It also tells me that my software is up to date.
Still, I can't do anything with the phone. Nobody can call me either, it goes straight to voicemail. Aside from deleting everything I've ever had for two years on that phone, HOW do I just use my phone?
Also: I was able to access and start up iCloud account AFTER all of this went down. Previously, because I couldn't get into it, I just didn't bother with it. When I asked a friend for help, they were able to set all that up for me, but the problem with the phone remains, so even though it's finally up and running, I can't access my photos etc to stream.

They were not there and MacKeeper made them up. Delete it completely. I have seen it cripple people's Macs.

Select the Zoom Tool in the tool box and see if Scrubby Zoom is unchecked or greyed out in the tool options bar.

It will show pictures and videos if I choose, Start Slideshow, but it won't show anything else, no apps, etc.

I also have not figured out how to mirrow either. I ask you both, is the sound via the projector louder than the phone itself when projector is tuerned off? No matter what I do the max vilume through the projector speakers is lower that the phone itself even with phone remaining installed in projector. I am think of taking it back to try another one.

I can not get to iPhone screen, so no way to get to Settings. That is the problem. When I connect phone to iTunes I get screen asking to insert SIN card. On the phone I'm getting Cinfigure screen asking Launguage , Country or Region, Wi-Fi, ( I can connect to my home wi-fi), and last screen "Activating your iPhone". After two minutes of waiting IM getting message: Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server in temporary unavailable. try connecting to iTunes or try later or contat apple.com/support.

Have you tried resetting your device by pressing and holding the Home button and power button until the silver apple appears? If that doesn't work, try resetting the network settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings.
If that fails, you may possibly have damaged the SIM. Verizon will need to give you a new one.

     3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device.
         The device should turn on. Note: If you see the screen pictured below, let the device
         charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then

Maybe I used the wrong term for it. Basically, someone recently had my Ipad and somehow turned on my messaging so they could read all of the messages on my Iphone. I would think this the password was used to do this however they advised that the Ipad had an update which then activated the messaging. Can this happen?

Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)
