Can tabs or menu bar be made more colorful

This GRAY on safari is so boring. Is there any way to colorize the menu bar etc like Firefox does? I like Safari but this Gray has to go!!

No, it's not unreadable. If you find it too dark, you can make it lighter. Just download and install SafariStand, then launch Safari, go to the Stand menu in the menu bar and choose SafariStand Setting…
In the General section on the lower right-hand side you'll see an item labeled "Remove Metal Texture:" and a popup menu with the options of OFF, light, medium, and dark. Choose one of the latter three items, then close that window, quit Safari and relaunch to see the changes.
Be sure to get the version of SafariStand for Leopard, otherwise it won't work.

  • Can the Menu Bar be made bigger?

Is there any way to make the entire menu bar - text and icons - larger? We have some vision problems and on the 27" monitor it's pretty hard to read....

Unfortunately not. You can change the resolution of the monitor (System Preferences -> Displays) to make everything bigger, or you can use some of the options in System Preferences -> Universal Access to magnify portions of the screen. But you can't make the menu bar bigger and leave everything else alone - the menu bar size is fixed.

  • Is it possible to customise the tab/address/menu bar positions? I dislike the default position changes.

Similar to MS Office, one can position all the menu bars in any order, top down or sideways as required. I find that with ver 4, the tabs on the top line , the search, home buttons etc are not intuitive and are quite annoying with their positional changes.

You can still use/see the Menu Bar (''File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, Help'') if you prefer it:
*'''Temporarily display the Menu Bar''': press the ALT key or the F10 key and make your selections from the temporarily displayed Menu Bar
*'''Toggle between the Menu Bar and Firefox button'''. Do one of the following:
    **NOTE:
***Menu Bar '''checked''' = Menu Bar on, Firefox button off
***Menu Bar '''un-checked''' = Menu Bar off, Firefox button on
**keyboard shortcut: HOLD the ALT key while pressing the letters VTM on your keyboard
**Using the Menu Bar: click View > Toolbars, click Menu Bar
**Using the Firefox Button: click Firefox Button > Options, click Menu Bar
**right-click on an empty space in one of the toolbars, click Menu Bar

  • Can the desktop menu bar be hidden?

I would like for the menu bar to be hidden until I want to use it, i.e. mouse over it to make it appear.  Can this be done?

Here's an article that describes how to get the menu bar behaviour that the OP wanted (i.e., hiding until mouse-over) on an application-by-application basis. It requires nothing more than Xcode to be installed (which is free from Apple in the App Store) and a bit of Property List editing (which is what you need Xcode for).

The article's a little old, but I just tested it with TeXShop in Mavericks and the method worked perfectly.

  • Can't see menu bar on external display

I just attached my MacBook running 10.6.2 an lcd flat screen hd tv. Everything is fine other than I can't see the menu bar. I've changed to every resolution available, but the menubar is never visible. It's there, because if I use my (wireless) mouse and put it off the top of the screen and click, I can get menus to open.
Has anyone run into this problem and have you found a solution?
    Thanks!

Right, your TV is overscanning. That's very common. Overscan has been part of what TVs have done for decades.
If your TV is meant to be compatible with computer output, there should be a way to set the screen size using the TV's remote and/or menu system so that computer output just fills the screen. So check you TV's user manual about making a connection to a PC for information about how to get rid of overscan on the TV.

  • Can't see Menu Bar in Windows 8

Please help... I'm new to Windows 8. I have the latest version of Skype. But I can't see any Menu Bar. All I can see is Home (at the top), Add Number & Save Number (at the bottom).
I have done a restart since I installed it, which I assume is the same as logging out and back in again. I have merged my skype and hotmail and want to merge my facebook contacts too, but without the Menu Bar I havent got any "Options"....

You can install latest Skype desktop Client with this link:

  • Why can't the Menu Bar and the Navigation Tool, share the same line?

With the Menu Bar and the Navigation Tool, now on separate lines, there's all this wasted space right above the address bar. What mental giant thought this up?

You can move the items on the Navigation Toolbar to the Menu bar if you want to have them on that bar.

Note that you are not able to click items on the menu bar if you hide the menu bar to get the Firefox menu button and use Alt or F10 to display the Menu bar (it is a bug).

  • How do I reset Mozilla so that I can get the menu bar back. Top of browser page is missing?

Top of browser page is not showing tool bar.

Firefox 3.6+ versions have a feature to allow the user to hide the Menu bar. Firefox 4+ versions have an orange Firefox button that shows when the Menu bar is hidden.
Hit the '''Alt''' key to temporarily show the Menu bar, then open View > Toolbars and select Menu bar, so it has a check-mark. <br />
The F10 can also be used on most PC's to temporarily reveal the Menu bar.

  • How do I return my menu bar to the original color?

Awhile back I changed my menu bar to black. I can't recall if it was something I installed or if it was something else. I uninstalled all apps that have anything to do with tinkering and I restarted my computer but my menu bar is still black. Any idea how I can get it back to the orginial color?

Im not sure what you mean but are you taking about when you over menu options, the highlighted colour is grey/black instead of blue?
If so, go to system preferences --> general tab. Then under apperance, change from graphite to blue.
    Hope this helps

  • Menu Bar; possible to change color of Apple icon?

I know, I'm old fashioned, it has taken me until summer 2010 to install Snow 10.6.4. I still yearn for some things from the 9.2.2 days & Tiger times & I still love my 6800 & SE 30. I
In those earlier days, the Apple icon was a rainbow, then in Tiger it changed to translucent blue, now, it is ugly black.
Anyone know of a little app to change the color of the Apple Icon?
    Thanks, so much.

blueC, I think it's dark because SL makes the menubar grey, but there are tweaks available that make it white. And since you want to go back to System 9, you'll want a white menubar anyway
Maybe Sig Software will make the dark icon lighter if you ask them. I've always found them very responsive.
OK so the icon's a little dark but look at what else you can do with Classic Menu !!

Although, I did download IE-Tester which allows you to test in different IE versions and it does not seen to work there?
IE-tester shows that you have got a problem 0n line #102. Unfortunately, the tester cannot be relied upon reflecting the correct line number. There is a problem on line #27 where there is no space in front of "type="
    <script src="http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/widgets/menubar/SpryMenuBar.js"type="text/javascript"></script>
and line #86 where there is no space before "rel="
    <link href="http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/widgets/menubar/SpryMenuBarVertical.css"rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
Now for my next problem, and if I can get this working I should be in fairly good shape. I had made some formatting changes (centered the menu bar, and made some color changes) See below, however those are now not working..Normally, when a question has been answered, it is marked as correct and any new questions are asked in a new post.
However, you caught me in a good mood, just signed contracts for three new projects one as far away as Switserland.
Lines #27 and #28 look like
    <script src="http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/widgets/menubar/SpryMenuBar.js"type="text/javascript"></script>
    <link href="http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/widgets/menubar/SpryMenuBarVertical.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />

    <link href="http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/widgets/menubar/SpryMenuBarVertical.css"rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
This may not confuse the browser, but it is not very conducive. Remove either set of links.
    When I look at SpryMenuBarVertical.css
change the value of line 16 to auto, has not been done
starting at line 81, change the highlighted values, has not been done
So it is no wonder there are no changes.
