Can tags be changed to labels in maverick?

I understand the advantages of Tags but is it possible to have the best of both worlds and somehow activate "labels" to allow a key document to be highlighted as it used to be pssible under earlier systems?
I often have open a folder with multiple files listed - can I highlight a particular file with a label approach under Maverick?

Very simple solution by a 3rd party app...XTRAFINDER. I only just downloaded it, but it seems to work fine with no issues. Just open the app, go to the "Appearance" tab, check "Legacy Label Color Painting", and Labels are now restored to Finder. Close XtraFInder, and forget about it. Simple solution.
Unlike Pathfinder, it modifies Finder so you don't have to switch back & forth from Pathfinder to Finder. OK, I suppose you could modify a bunch of apps that, by default, open Finder, so that they instead open Pathfinder, but I find it easier to use Xtrafinder once to modify the view of Finder.
And, as you can see by my snapshot, it retains the functionality of tags. Best of both worlds. Why didn't Apple do this to begin with? Well, maybe they'll fix this soon since the high visibility of Labels (compared to tags) is crucial to some people.
Anyway, just posting this so you can find the solution without wading through the other post that is 100 pages long, and mostly consists of off-topic quips, retorts, and flames like most posts on this forum.

Hi everyone,
I have a 2-D array that I wish to populate with different sorts of data. Depending upon the data, the names of the rows and columns may change. Arrays have to have identical labels and I suppose I could simply populate a string indicator, but frankly, that looks like trash.
How can I programmatically change a label of a column or a row in a 2-D array? Should I consider using a table? I want it to look nice.

I do not think you are able to change the label programatically.
But you might consider to use Captions instead of labels. You can hide labels and make captions visible programatically, and you can change the text of the caption and size (see enclosed vi).

Can't change the label text for the first time of loading

I have some problem to change the label text in the prerender method.
I put a label on the form and set the text value to "Customer" on the text properities , and I would like to change the lable text to "Supplier" in the prerender method, I found some strange behaviour.
If I type nothing on the label text of the properties , I can change the lable text on the prerender method on the first time of the form load .
If I put something on the label text of the properties , the text label can't be changed on the first time of form loaded, the lable can be changed if I refresh the form or reload the form.
Could anyone help me to solve this kinds of problem ?

This is a tough one to explain. Here is one explanation from the Delving Into Components tutorial:
As with the JavaServer Pages implementation, when the server constructs a page from JSP source, the tag attribute settings in the JSP source take precedence over runtime settings. For example, if you set the text property for a Static Text component to "moon," the IDE adds text="moon" to the Static Text component's tag in the JSP file. Even if the page's prerender method has a staticText1.setText("sun") statement, the Static Text component shows "moon" when the application renders the page. If the page is rerendered, the staticText1.setText("sun") statement takes affect and the Static Text component shows "sun." If you visit another page and come back, the server once again constructs the page from the JSP source, the values set in the JSP tag attributes take precedence, and the page displays "moon."

I mostly use technology for education and professional audiovisuals and lights.
I don't sync music because I use music from at least 4 different computers. (manually mange music)
I use my iPad to play performance tracks for church and a local gospel group out of our church, Won4Christ.
I chose to buy the iPad because the laptop of one of the group members (dellxps running iTunes) was randomly losing and mixing up music and I wanted a more stable option that was bigger than my iPod touch.
I tried to add some data to music libraries that I previously added to my iPad, but the data only shows up when looking at the device in iTunes.
Wifi sync has not worked on either my laptop or desktop ( both running windows 7 enterprise 64 and newest iTunes) not really a big issue, but very annoying
When browsing through library playlist albums on the iPad, random artwork shows up on playlists with no artwork that you touch while dragging, and it does not go away until you change to another navigation tab and back.
Random songs out of hundreds that I added showed up in iTunes grayed out with a sync circle beside them. Those songs would play back okay on the iPad but were unplayable through the iTunes device view. I had to delete the songs manually through the library along with the playlist and add them again.
These seem to be major stability bugs in the "new" music app and iTunes. My only option right now seems to be to delete the songs that I want to change and re-add them with the changes already applied rather than changing the id3 tags and artwork on the existing music. I hope apple will release updates to resolve these issues.

How can I change the label of iCloud mail in Mail?

I have an iPhone, where the iCloud account in mail is shown as "Name @ iCloud". I've just been setting up a new iPad Air 2 and there in Mail the label shows just as "iCloud". How can I change that label? I've been digging around but haven't found a way.

Most of us just use names for the folders which seems to work fine unless you're not alphabetically inclined.
It really doesn't make much difference who else may want a feature like that, it still isn't going to magically appear. If you wish to submit it as a feature request you can do so here: Feedback.
There aqre third-party programs that may provide a similar function although not colors: DockStar and Mail Badger.

Views in MM03, how can I add fields and changes fields labels

I need to change some labels that appear on Sales: Sales Org 2 (view on MM03, MM02..MM01)...
Im not sure what I can do this.. Im an ABAP Programmer(beginner) and I know how I can change labels of fields in programs(reports) that I did...but in This case. I don't know what I can do...
example: when I enter on MM03..I select differents views(including Sales: Sales Org 2), later I specify sales Org and distribution Channel (I need to specify this information for see these fields on this TAB Sales: Sales Org 2).
When I access in tab: Sales: Sales Org 2, I can see one Group that it's called
Material Groups that contain two fields called MVKE.MVGR1 AND MVKE.MVGR5... I saw in the screen these fields with the description from each field..example: Material Group 1 (MVKE.MVGR1 )... I would like to know :
1.- How Can I change the description Material Group 1 (in this screen) by other description (example: material test)...
2.- How can I add more fields in this group...example..If I need to add MVKE.MVGR2 ..??

After you made label changes on custom screen then you need to go configuration (Define Structure of Data Screens for Each Screen Sequence) to replace the standard SAP screen with custom screen. You can also do testing for custom subscreen as well. Give it try.
And how about If I move this screen??...is it dangerous??...or how can I know if this screen affect other section of programs?

How can i change the label of an array controller in the xib file

I have seven instances of NSArrayController in my main xib file; they are all labled 'Array Controller' and I cannot change the label in the list of objects. I can change the label in the identity inspector, but the label still remains 'Array Controller' in the list of objects. If I double-click on the label that is in the list and change the label its value changes in the identity inspector when I tab out of the label field but the label reverts to 'Array Controller' in the list of objects. I'll never be able to keep the seven controllers straight in my head. Is there a solution?

The problem is was in Xcode, while editing the xib file. After many back and forth jumps (between Xcode and this composer for the discussion) and many attempts to relabel the array controllers over two hours, the changes have appeared just as I want. I hate it when that happens (who likes egg on their face?)

PDF properties (meta tags) can't be changed (error 0x80040154 - class not registered)

Changing PDF properties (meta tags: author, title, comment, theme etc) in Adobe Reader as well as in Windows Explorer are disabled rsp does not funtion.
1. In Adobe Reader "File properties", the overwriting rsp insertion of text is disabled in grey.
2. In Windows Explorer, following message window appears: "Properties change: Due to an unexpected error, properties can't be changed - Error 0x80040154: class not registered"
(Sorry for the bad translation, but I am running the German version)
Is there a technical explanation and solution for this problem? In other PDF programms, the change of meta data does work fine.

@MadEyes: I found out you had to set a site address in wordpress the hard way, i set it for a dns host and I couldn't get into the wp-admin page or load any sort of image or css.
At the moment i have a server root directory with a wordpress folder on it. Eg:
(/srv/http)/wp/
and a test index file in the root. Eg:
(/srv/http)/index.html
The index file doesn't show up publicly, but it will on the local network.
I set the apache port back to 61669 and tested with canyouseeme.org. I got (i will email you the ip addy):
Success: I can see your service on X.X.X.X on port (61669) >EDIT: If I close apache, then it fails. Start it back up, it succeeds.
Your ISP is not blocking port 61669
I also nmap'd myself and got this:

The 'splash' screen might be of interest to you.
Here is the quick description from the FAQ.

(But if you mean changing the very first screen seen when downloading an application the first time, the answer is 'no'.)

By the way - now I review your question, I note you stress 'while jars are downloading'.
There is another strategy you might take. Mark most of the application jar's as 'lazy' download, get the main GUI on-screen quickly, then use the JNLP API's DownloadService to fetch the rest of the jars, after the application is running.
This has the advantage that, then we can have complete control of whatever is shown on the screen during the bulk of the downloads. We might show ..a 'splash screen', or a dialog with the application name on it, or a progress dialog, ..or any combination of the three.

I think you have set the backgroundcolor for Label in Flex4...? In Flex3 doesn'y allow to set the background color directly...However you can use this work around if you want to set the background color.
You can also set the color for textField in the code below by using the textField styleSheet property.

Label text - yes I can bind to change, but can you access it directly?

OK I have a Button and Label.
The label has an id: "1".
I want to change the text of the label when I click the button.
I can bind the label's text and change it from the button: No problem.
BUT - what I am hoping to do is learn if you can change the label text (from the button action function) by accessing it directly.
So - I can do this:

I tried to change OracleBI\web\msgdb\customMessages\catalogsysmessages.xml.
<WebMessage name="kmsgCatalogSysCatalogTab"> <TEXT>Catalog</TEXT> and restarted the presentation server but nothing has changed.

go to *<BI HOME Folder>:\OracleBI\web\msgdb\l_en\messages*
open pickertabsmessages.xml file
You find the *<WebMessage name="kmsgPickerTabsCatalog"><TEXT>Catalog</TEXT></WebMessage>* tag,
now, in place of Catalog in between TEXT tags, you change the name that you want and restart presentation service

Changing itunes labels

I'm having trouble changing the labels of my music. It seems that only iTunes Store purchased content is affected by the issue im having, but any content i have that was NOT an itunes store purchase (but was instead say, a CD i imported myself) but is of the same artist as the itunes purchased content will be grouped together under the same incorrect labels as the purchased content. Lets use the example of my music for the band Linkin Park here.
I want to change all the labels to how i prefer them but for some reason i have the labels for artist, album artist etc as "Linkin Park" but when I search for the music on my iPhone after syncing up everything it comes up as "LINKIN PARK". Its the same issue with certain album names aswell. again using the example of Linkin Park, the albums "Living Things" and "Recharged" come up on my iPhone as "LIVING THINGS" and "RECHARGED" no matter what i do.
And, one album that i actually imported from a physical CD comes up on my iPhone again with the ALL CAPS artist name
How to i rectify this problem? I want it all sorted how I want it, not how Apple wants it!

There are different options available.
1. Set part of compilation setting to 'yes'
2. Fill in 'album artist' tag with a value. In this case Timbaland
3. Edit artist tags to remove other artist information.
If iTunes is set to organize library then this can be done before or after importing CD. If do any of these after importing then iTunes will rearrange files atomatically based on tag information.
Album artist tag information overrides artist tag information and stores files based on album artist. Compilation option stores album in compilation folder then folder for album.
