Can the display be upgraded?

1. Product Name and Number
HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC
A5F76AV
I have a display of 15.6" which supports 1366 X 768. I was recently browsing through HP website and found one dv6 notebook with the display 15.6" diagonal full HD anti-glare LED-backlit (1920 x 1080). So my question is can I get my current display upgarded to that at some cost? Mine is a new one, I mean only 4 and half months old and so is this possible? Please help.
Thank you very much.

Hi,
I don't know the cost but you can find a panel in the following manual:
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02842252.pdf
HP partsurfer may show you how much (using part # from the manual):

  • X11 App Can't Display After Upgrade from 10.4.5 to 10.4.6

    Hi there,
Could someone tell me how to sovle this problem from an X11 xterm:
    CharlesMac:~ charles$ xterm -display localhost:0.0
xterm Xt error: Can't open display: localhost:0.0
    It works for:
    CharlesMac:~ charles$ xterm -display .0
I also got the same error msg from a Linux box too:
    [charles@Fedora4 ~]$ xclock -display 192.168.1.3:0.0
    Error: Can't open display: 192.168.1.3:0.0
I think it was working before I upgraded the OS from 10.4.5 to 10.4.6.
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Cheers,
    Charles

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
This sounds like something someone over at the Unix forum might be better equipped to answer:

While I do know some Unix, it has been a long time since I've played with xterm.

  • I thought I would be able to scan barcodes with my iPad 2 but it won't because it does not have an auto-focus camera. Can the camera be upgraded? can a peripheral cam be plugged in?

I thought I would be able to scan bar codes with my iPad 2 but cannot because it only has a fixed-lens camera. Bar code scanning apps require auto-focus cameras. Can I upgrade the camera within the iPad2 to auto-focus? If not, can I add a peripheral auto-focus camera and plug it in the the usb port?

Your not able to upgrade the  camera, it's not really there for photos . Also there is no USB port on the iPad just a cable that connects to you computer.

  • I have an iPad 2 -- 32 GB memory... can the memory be upgraded?

I just have lots and lots of apps and want more space without having to keep deleting apps to make room for more apps.

The first step towards recovery of app addiction is to admit you have a problem.
I have the same problem.  Hi, my name is Thom_D and I am an app addict.
That being said all you can do is decide which apps you use the most and which you don't.  I keep rearanging my apps using iTunes since that is quicker, and move the apps I use the least to my last home page and the ones I use the most to the first home page and then in between I organize the rest.  If I haven't touched an app in two weeks I delete it from my iPad to make room for the new apps that keep coming out to tempt me.

  • Can the Photoshop CS5 upgrade be installed on two pcs?

I have photoshop CS2 installed on my desktop and have an upgrade to CS5 on the way. Someone told me that with current adobe products, it's ok to install a copy on your desktop and on your notebook, which is what I'd like to do with photoshop CS5. Is that ok, or was I mis-informed, and installation is restricted to a single pc?

One at a time wouldn't be an issue, as long as that means what is sounds like it does. Does it literally 'call in' to adobe and make sure it's the only install of that key that is running?
But, good for adobe for setting it up this way. It will be handy to have a copy on the notebook for times we are on the road.

  • HT5475 Can the Mac mini upgrade to 8GB and 8GB of 1866MHz RAM ?

I have the Mac mini (late 2012) 2.3GHz Core i7 model.

The 2102 Mini can go to 16 GB, two 8 GB sticks. Macs are picky about memory and a stick rated at a higher speed may not work. Make sure that they say they will work with a Mac

  • Increasing size of the display view of address book

Can the display of address book be increased in size? Or can the display of the fonts be increased in size? It is hard for me to see.

    Andrea,
It seems to me that there is no way to do this across the board. Seems like there should be, however.
There is a way to temporarily increase the size of a phone number so you can see it more easily when dialing. In the listings for the contact you are interested in, click on the label (mobile, home, etc) to the left of the phone number and then choose large type. This will display the phone number in VERY LARGE type. To revert to normal, just click on the big number.
This is certainly not a solution to your problem. I'm surprised that there is no apparent font adjustment in Address Book.

    Steve M.

  • Apple Watch does it make provisions for left-handers? either a mirror image version, or the ability to rotate the display 180º allowing it to be worn on the right wrist and controlled with the left hand?

Does the apple Watch accommodate left-handed people? is there a mirror image option, or can the display be rotated 180º, allowing the watch to be worn on the right wrist, and manipulated with the left hand? Just wondering if you have thought about that?
    Thanks,
    Rick
PS: none of the "communities " accessible to me seemed appropriate for this question, so I am posting here, hoping someone will forward it on to the proper place in Apple.

There's a option when setting up the watch to set it up for left handed users. That and the easily user revisable straps will accommodate lefties.

  • Is this the end of the line for upgrades?

Hello. I have a great old PB 15 inch titanium w/ 1G RAM and essentially no storage space but it's hooked up to 2 hard drives. I would love to upgrade to the new ILife but I would need Leopard and it's a 667 MHz G4. Can the processor be upgraded? Can the hard drive be upgraded, it's only 30 GB. Would other stuff also need to be changed? I hate to have to get rid of it cause it works so well.
Thanks for the info in advance.

Unfortunately, the 667 MHz processor cannot be upgraded to Leopard, as it does not meet the technical specs:
    http://www.apple.com/macosx/techspecs/
I don't know of a way to upgrade the processor.
However, the hard drive can be upgraded to as much as 320 GB:

    Hope this helps;
    Good luck!

  • How much does the display move ?

This is a stupid question but how much can the display be moved ? All the pictures that I see it appears that the display is at an angle. Can the display angled down ( like if I put it on a cabinet ) ?

I can't find the actual numbers, but the display tilts I think about 10 or 15 degrees back from vertical, and a little less than that forward from vertical. At least mine is that way... the new ones may be a little different. I got mine last May.

  • Can the flash storage hard drives in the brand new 15inch Macbook Pro Retina Display laptops (10.22.13) be upgraded/replaced in the future?

Can the flash storage hard drives in the brand new Macbook Pro Retina Display laptops that were just released a few days ago (10.22.13) be upgraded/replaced in the future?  I will need more than the basic 256GB for sample libraries using music software, among other things, but currently larger flash drives from Apple are too expensive.  I ask because I'm in the process of buying one of the new 15inch Macbook Pro Retina Display laptops right now (or at least right after I get an answer to this question).
I saw in the Mac store when I started looking at the build options for ordering the Macbook Pro that under Memory it said the memory was built into the computer and therefore could not ever be replaced or upgraded in the future.  So I was wondering if something similiar might be the case with the flash storage drives even though the same wasn't written under the hard drive options?  If these flash drives can be replaced in the future then I would just purchase the starting 256GB drive and suffer through using connected external hard drives, as unwieldy as that would be, until there were potential replacement flash drives with larger storage capacties available on the market or through Apple for more reasonable prices.  But if the hard drives in these laptops can't be replaced/upgraded I would go for the 500GB drive option (even though paying an additional $300, before taxes, for just 244GBs more storage space is absolutely outrageous no matter how great flash drives are with their read/write speeds, no moving parts to break, and lighter weight/thinner builds allowing for an overall thinner laptop).  I would even go for the larger 1TB option, which is really what I need, except that costs an additional $700 which is more than enough to buy me a new 50inch, HD, flatscreen TV from a reputable brand if I were so inclined!  (And yes, I understand the youth of the technology, current limits to flash drive capacities, and the reason for the high prices.  I know I'm not getting bilked...)
So yeah, does anybody have an answer to this question?  Can the flash hard drives in the new Macbook Pro Retina Display laptops, just released, be upgraded/replaced in the future?  Any answers are greatly appreciated and will save me some much needed cash on my purchase of one of these laptops!  And I should also ask, if so, can they be replaced by the laptop owner with the normal toolset through the normal, easily done methods of hard drive replacement in laptops that has been common, or would I have to bring the laptop to a Apple technician?
    Thanks everybody!

The modules are proprietary. They are installed in a slot secured with a tiny screw.
macsales.com has been working on providing aftermarket modules for the older models that were on the SATA Bus.
These newer ones are likley directly on the PCIe Bus. That will take some time to develop.

  • I need to upgrade my operating system but the display won't work. How can I upgrade ?

My 2014 MacBook Pro when powered up will not actually turn on. The display is VERY faint and in fact just a different shade of shut down. It does however make the usual start up sounds, without any display, when I start it up. When in this mode the caps lock will not illuminate when depressed. Apple support has suggested that a software upgrade may be the problem. How can I upgrade without a screen ?

Thanks for that.  I did as suggested but when I tried again, it still did not work.  Another  com.apple.Grab.plist appeared in the Library.
I now have the following files in Library

    file://localhost/Users/peterpatel/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Grab.LSSharedFil eList.plist.lockfile

What do you suggest I do now?
