Can the Flickr Publish Service upload to existing Sets?

When publishing photos to Flickr, can I specify the photo to be put in a specific set within Flickr, i.e., photo publishes to my photostream and I want to place the photo into my "Ravelry set?"
How can I accomplish this or do I have to manually go into Flickr and add the photo to a specific set?
Thank you

Not to confuse things by contradicting Brett, but I just tried this, and it works fine for me.  Payne1904, try this:
1.  Set up your Flickr publish service in Lightroom.
2.  In the header of the Publish Services panel in Lightroom, click the "+" button and in the Flickr section, choose "Create Photoset".
3.  Name the Photoset the exact name of the existing Photoset that you want the photos to go into.
4.  Add photos to the Photoset in Lightroom, and click "Publish".
The photos will be added to the existing Photoset on Flickr.  Let me know if this doesn't work.

  • Flickr publishing service and privacy settings

    Hi,
I recently purchased Lightroom 3, and am loving it. I've played around with the Flickr publishing service, and it seems that at the moment there is a limitation in that it is not possible to specify permissions for individual photos, but rather, an overall choice for the publishing service. I usually upload an album with restrictive permissions then make some of the photos public, so I was wondering whether if I upload an album via Lightroom 3 with permissions set to 'Private', and I change the permissions on the flickr website to 'Public', then if in future I re-upload the image after modifying it, will the permissions be reset to 'Private', or will Lightroom respect any privacy settings set directly on Flickr?
    Thanks for any advice,
    Thomas

I don't know the answer to your specific scenario - my simple advice is "try it".
But I do have an alternate idea if you try it and find that it doesn't work as you expect.
I have 2 publish services both based on the Flickr plugin. (You can add additional ones by right-clicking on the existing Flickr publish service, and choosing [Add Another Publish Service via "Flickr"]
One's set up to upload as public, the other is set to upload as private.  Under these 2 publish services I have my various photosets (public & private).
You can also use this method to support multiple Flickr accounts (family vs. business, etc)

  • Flickr Publish Service Colour Space

I've read a couple of threads about setting colour spaces when exporting, including this thread:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2942130#2942130
For many years I've used Photoshop Elements as my main editing software. The images that I've edited in PSE and then uploaded to Flickr using Flickr Uploadr all show the colour space as sRGB when I look up the EXIF data on Flickr.
Since I've started using LR 3, I've noticed that the images published to Flickr from the LR Flickr publish service don't show any colour space when I look up the EXIF data in Flickr. I can't see anything in the Flickr publish service settings that allows me to embed a colour space.
What colour space are the published images in? Am I missing a step somewhere in LR?

Thanks for taking the time to reply and for the very helpful information.
I'm aware of Jeffrey Friedl's plugin and I might eventually go that way, but for the moment I'm just trying to understand the built in publish service.
I didn't have the Hard Drive publish service set up, so I did that with sRGB as the colour space and Minimize Metadata unchecked. I checked the settings for the Flickr publish service, Minimize Metadata was also unchecked there. The ability to set a colour space is definitely present in the Hard Drive publish service but absent from the Flickr publish service.
After doing those things, I published some more photos to Flickr, again no colour space when I view the EXIF in Flickr. I still don't know whether no colour space is embedded, or whether sRGB is embedded but undisclosed.

  • Unable to set up Flickr Publish Services in LR4.1

I have tried on numerous occasions and end with the same result.  After I finish setting up the parameters in the Flickr Publish Services form I receive the "Lightroom needs your permission to upload images to Flickr"   I click on the "Authorize" button and then I'm taken to my account within Flickr.  Once i click on the "OK, I'll authorize it" button, I'm taken to:  http://lightroom://com.adobe.lightroom.export.flickr/#?oauth_token=72157630835444112-9ff8c 3faeafcb667&oauth_verifier=84249d3a8099d4dd,  where I get another pop up window that says "This web page cannot be displayed"
No matter what I do I cannot get the publish service to work.  I had no issues with Lightroom 3.6 using the same procedure.  What has changed, or what am I missing?  Please help.  Thanks in advance.

    Hi
You will need to have different configuration in each service.bat file as the SVCNAME must be unique across multiple instances, for example:
    JBoss Server 1 service.bat config:
    set SVCNAME=CCP_RC
    set SVCDISP=CCP - RequestCenter
    set SVCDESC=JBoss instance for RequestCenter
    JBoss Server 2 service.bat config:
    set SVCNAME=CCP_SL
    set SVCDISP=CCP - ServiceLink
    set SVCDESC=JBoss instance for ServiceLink

  • Flickr Publish Service - Inability to Stop "Retreiving Comments for Photostream" Process

I upload a lot of stuff to Flickr and every time my selected photos complete uploading a process kicks off "Retreiving Comments for Photostream". This never seems to do anything and after a time I get this annoying popup which says:  "Can't download comments for this collection. Could not contact the Flickr web service. Please check your internet connection."  First of all, I do not want to download comments, but I have no user control over preventing it, other than standing by to cancel the process once it starts. Secondly, it appears a change at the Flickr end has broken this functionality anyway.
How do I convey this info to the Adobe staff responsible for the code writing for Lightroom so they can sort this out? I could find no other way apart from this forum to raise this issue.

No, you are not alone.  It has been doing that to me for a week or so.  May have been going on longer, but I had not posted in a few days.
Annoying since canceling the task by clicking on the X to the right of the progress bar makes it 'go away' but the pop-up still appears a few seconds later.

  • Problems authorizing the Facebook Publish Service

I'm using Windows 7/32 + LR 3.2 + FF as my default browser
For the last several days I've been trying to get the Facebook Publish Service authorized against my facebook account without sucess.  Facebook would add the lightroom application to my list of approved applications, but LR would not recognize that the auhorization was sucessfull after I clicked the "Allow" button in Facebook.  I tried this with Firefox, Chrome, and IE and all three browsers failed.  Firefox threw an error about the (lightroom) protocol being unknown and then redirected to my Facebook Wall.  IE would simply say that it could not open the web page.  And Chrome did something similar but I cannot remember the details (I think it redirected too). In all cases LR would report that the Facebook Publish Service was not authorized.  I tried reinstalling LR several times and I tried adding the lightroom protocol to FF and associating it with LR but to no avail.  Finally I stumbled upon a process that worked for me.
If this is the error you are seeing, then the procedure below should allow you to get properly authorized in LR:
If you already tried and failed to authorize then go into you Facebook Application Settings (Account --> Application Settings) and remove/deauthorize the LR application (using whatever browser you like to do this).
Make IE your default browser.  This is just temporary, unless you like it like that.  You have to use IE, FF won't work and since IE worked here I didn't try Chrome.  When LR opens the browser to authenticate you it needs to open IE, not FF
Open LR and click the "Set Up..." link for Facebook Publish Service.  Then click the "Authorize on Facebook" button.  When IE opens log into FB if your not already, then click the Allow button to authorize LR.
If your having the same problem I did then IE will immediately throw up an error saying that it couldn't open the requested page.  Look at the URL in the address bar.  It should begin with "lightroom://...".  Select and copy the entire URL to you clipboard.
Go back to LR and click the "Done" button. This will return you to the Facebook Publish Service Setup Dialog and you should see that you are still not authorized. Dang!
But you'll notice that the "not authorized" label is not a hyperlink.  Click it.  This will open a dialog prompting you for the authorization URL.  Paste the URL you copied from IE into this box and click OK.
    You should now be authorized.
You can now restore you prefferred default browser.
Hope this helps anyone else having the same problems I did getting Facebook authorized within Lightroom.

On Windows, the process for authenticating with Facebook depends on some registry keys. If these keys failed to be written during installation, for whatever reason, authentication is not going to work as intended. (There is a fallback solution, which is referred to in the initial post in this thread.)
To check if the required registry keys are present on your machine, you can open up a command prompt and execute the command:
    regedit /E lightroom.reg "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lightroom"
If the keys are indeed present, this should result in a file named lightroom.reg with contents that look something like this:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lightroom]
    "URL Protocol"="\"\""
    @="\"URL:Lightroom Protocol\""
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lightroom\DefaultIcon]
    @="\"lightroom.exe,1\""
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lightroom\shell]
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lightroom\shell\open]
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lightroom\shell\open\command]
    @="\"C:\\Program Files\\Adobe\\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3.2\\Lightroom.exe\" \"%1\""
These registry keys are supposed to be written at install time when lightroom.exe is invoked with a '-register' option. (The user is comletely unaware of this, of course.) This is something that can be attempted after installation as well, and to increase the chances of success, 'lightroom.exe -register' should be invoked after making sure that lightroom will be run with administrator privileges. (On Windows Vista, this can be done by right-clicking the shortcut to lightroom.exe and checking the 'Run this program as an administrator' option in the 'Compatibility' tab.)
If running 'lightroom.exe -register' fails to inject the expected keys into the registry, regedit can be used to insert the keys manually. However, I would not recommend modifying your registry manually unless you have experience with that kind of thing already. A lot of damage can be done to your system if you do something wrong.

  • Flickr Publish Service Error

I have used the service to upload many pictures to my account, however on my latest upload (5 photos, one of them was a virtual copy, could this be the cause of the problem perhaps?), it ended with the following dialog box:
    "Can't update this collection.
An internal error has occurred: assertation failed!"
All the pictures uploaded though.  I tried to upload another one to see what would happen.  It did upload as well, but it also ended with the same error coming up.  It's quite annoying, can someone help me please?

I worked with Gokul from Adobe support, and we eventually stumbled into the solution.
    The system clock was wrong!
Based on something Friedl says on the blog for his Flickr plugin, the Flickr authentication APIs will fail if the system clock is wrong.  His plugin helpfully points out that the clock is wrong when you install it.  It also reports the error that he gets from the Flickr APIs: HTTP 401 (not authorized).  Unfortunately, Lightroom's builtin Flickr publishing plugin doesn't report any error, and it just fails silently.
In my case, Windows appeared to be displaying the correct time, but the time zone was incorrect, and my system time was actually 3 hours ahead.  I reset the clock and timezone and restarted Lightroom.  Now, the builtin Flickr publish plugin is working again.

  • Flickr publishing service - intermittent errors mean its not viable

    Hello
I posted this to the flickr forum too, because its not clear which stool it falls under. I've seen the question in a couple of forums too but no answer. Its not related to authorisation - i'm authorised fine!
I tried uploading to flickr via Lightroom 5 today. I had about 80 photos, about 2-3 mb each. Randomly, the uploaded would fail with an error :
'Flickr API returned an error message (function flickr.photos.getInfo, message Photo "xxxxxxx" not found (invalid ID)) '
I could proceed by pressing Publish again, but whatever photo it failed on would not get uploaded - even though lightroom thought it did! So two problems:
    - to get through a collection of about 60 photos i had about 5 errors, which meant i had to press publish 5 times to get through the whole collection
    - 5 photos didnt get synced and there's no way to know which ones apart from eye-by-eye comparing the collection in lightroom with the collection in flickr
this wasn't a one-off i repeated the same with another collection - same results. This obviously isn't viable, so i've taken to using the old fashioned way of exporting then uploading, but would love to have this work properly its so much more convenient to do it in lightroom. Does anyone by chance have a solution?
    Thanks very much!

    I'm on a win8.1 x64 pc w/ LR 5.3
I'm experiencing the exact same situation.
I would gladly offer up my time and effort to help isolate why this is continuing to happen through what seems like 3 major revisions of Lightroom.

  • Can the GetEvents Web Service return a subset of events for a given record

Page 173 of Siebel Web Services On Demand Guide Version 3.1 (CRM On Demand Release15) Rev. A, states the following:
"You can return events for all record types, or a subset of record types, depending on how you prepare the WSDL files associated with the Integration Event service,"
The IntegrationEventWS_GetEvents_Input type in the Integration Event WSDL that is availble only contains an "Event Count" parameter for the number of events to retrieve and appears to have no way to specify a record type in order to retrieve a subset of the events as stated above.
Is there any way to retrieve a subset of the Intgeration Events by record type?
    Thanks
    John

Customer care have replied to me and the line qouted above is a documentation error and there is no way to query the GetEvent Web Service to return a subset of events for a given record.

  • Import flickr published service settings from LR3?

    Hello,
I've searched and searched but can't figure out how to import my flickr settings from LR3, in particular my photosets, into LR4.  If I recreate them they will presumably overwrite the stuff I've already published to flickr.
Is there a way to import these settings from LR3?
    Thanks.

You can use the serveradmin command line tool.  For example, if on 10.7 you are looking to export your DNS settings, you would use:
sudo serveradmin settings dns > ~/dns.settings
Then move the file to the new server and reverse the process using:
sudo serveradmin settings dns < ~/dns.settings
( The ~/ will create a file at the root your home folder)  This process will work for most of the services (use sudo serveradmin list to see all services).  Please note that this process does not move data.  It only will move configuration information.
If moving Open Directory, you will likely want to create an OD archive or export the users and groups as flat files.  Please note that flat files will not include passwords.

  • Collections/sub-collections and sets in Flickr publishing service

I have been searching in vain for a way to arrange the photo sets I upload to Flickr in folders and sub folders - just the same way I do it in Flickr with up to 5 levels of collections + sets.
What I want is something like this:
    BIRDS
    ---------ORDER 1
    -----------------------FAMILY 1
------------------------------------SPECIES 1 (Pictures in this level of folder/set)
    ------------------------------------SPECIES 2
    -----------------------FAMILY 2
    ------------------------------------SPECIES 3
    ------------------------------------SPECIES 4
    ---------ORDER 2
    -----------------------FAMILY 3
    ------------------------------------SPECIES 5
    ------------------------------------SPECIES 6
    -----------------------FAMILY 4
    ------------------------------------SPECIES 7
    ------------------------------------SPECIES 8
Could someone please tell me if this already exists - in the program or as an add-on?
    Thanks!

Lightroom does not support what you're trying to do. You could check Lightroom Exchange to see if any third party plugins provide the type of support you want.

  • Can the iphone be compatible with my existing hardware?

I need to know if the iphone will work with my Powerbook G4 500. I don't believe it has a USB 2.0 port. Will the iphone work with my Powerbook USB port? At a slower speed? I do have a Firewire 400 port. Is there such a thing as Firewire 400 converted to USB 2.0? Thanks for your help.
    Powerbook G4 500   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

you should look into getting a USB 2.0 PCMCIA card for your Powerbook, you know the slot which you may not use at all? You can get them as cheap as $18!!!
Check out amazon.com or newegg.com or ask an apple employee at an apple store, etc.
Would be great for your situation, as it will help not only for the iPhone, but for cameras and the bunch of USB 2.0 devices that exist.

I've been trying for 2 days now straight to get my account to connect. But he always gives this message. Before that he uploaded without any problems.
I have no problem with my internet connection 'cause Facebook has no problem connecting to Flickr.
Does anyone have these problems or any kind what I'm experiencing now? And this anyone know a sollution to this.
