how to disable the graphics card of my macbook air please?

I'm guessing there is a language issue here.  The graphics card is the actual hardware (chip) in your computer that allows it to create graphics and show them on your display.  There is no way to disable the graphics card on your Air because there would be no way to use it (it would not be able to display anything on any display).  This is a little different on machines with multiple graphics processors, but that's not the case with your Air.  I'd imagine you know what you want to do, we're just having trouble understanding your question.

Only at the point of ordering from the Apple store. Select the required Video card at that point, because it can't be changed later.

  • Can i change the graphic card of my macbook pro 13?

hi guys..i've got a macbook pro 13 inch with intel hd 3000 graphic card..is there any way to change it to the faster intel hd 4000?

No, it is an integral part of the mother board.  To improve the GPU, your only alternative is to purchase a newer MBP.
    Ciao.

  • I sit possible to upgrade the graphics card in my Macbook Pro?

I own a macbook pro 2.4 ghz intel core duo, 4gb ram with NVIDIA GeForce 320M 256 MB graphics card. I'm finding this graphics card pretty shocking when it comes to even the simplest of 3D games...i know probably my fault for choosing a laptop not suitable for gaming but still i did expect it to be able to handle graphics like on football manager.
Anyway my question is, is there any way to upgrade my graphics card and how much would it cost?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

I wouldn't expect Skype or iWork to be a problem. I don't know Spotify.
Have you used Disk Utility to correct permissions? This is a routine maintenance procedure that can improve some things. If you are not familiar with using this utility it's sufficient to see at the end 'permissions repair complete' or similar. There are likely to be some messages saying certain things couldn't be corrected but usually these are not serious issues.
The other thing to watch is whether you are running on battery power or mains. When there is intensive processor activity & some other internal activities too the computer might need mains power to perform at its best. You can try various things on battery alone then on battery & mains together and compare performance.

  • Can the Graphics card on an iMac 24" be upgraded?

Not an expert on graphic cards, but can the ones in an iMac 20" or 24" be upgraded whenever a better one is released? I don't mind taking it to the Apple Store if that's they only way to upgrade it.
Also has anyone ever run Oblivion with Parallels or on Windows-on-Mac after installing it with Boot Camp?

Currently no such upgrade program has been announced. There has been some rumbling on the web that it might be upgradeable. But Apple has not officially announced a path. Any such upgrades would have to be done out of warranty unless you saw a program on the Do-It-Yourself pages of Apple's support webpage for the iMac.

  • [HP PAVILION DV6T-7000 (A5F76AV)] Can the graphics card be upgraded?

    Hi.
My [HP DV6T-7000 (A5F76AV)] has a dedicated NVIDIA GT-650M 2GB graphics card. Would it be possible to upgrade this to say GTX-680M or higher?
    Thanks.

    According to the HP Pavilion dv6 Entertainment PC Maintenance and Service Guide, the discrete graphics adapter is part of the system board and only came in four versions;
    NVIDIAR GeForceR 630M with 1024-MB of dedicated video memory (64-MB×16 DDR3 900-MHz×8 PCs)NVIDIAR GeForceR 630M with 2048-MB of dedicated video memory (128-MB×16 DDR3 900-MHz×8 PCs)
NVIDIAR GeForceR 650M with 1024-MB of dedicated video memory (32-MB×32 GDDR5×8 PCs, 5Gbps)NVIDIAR GeForceR 650M with 2048-MB of dedicated video memory (64-MB×32 GDDR5×8 PCs, 5Gbps)
There is no possibility of upgrading the existing adapter to a GTX-680M.

  • Is it possible to upgrade the graphics card on a macbook??

I know macs aren't meant for gaming or anything, but I just wanted to know if a graphics card upgrade is possible.

As a general rule, graphics processors on notebooks are not upgradable (integrated or discrete). Some newer high end gaming machines are being built with upgradable graphics solutions, but they're VERY high end sytems and upgrading the graphics on those systems is quite expensive.

  • Is it possible to upgrade the graphics card on a mid 2012 MacBook Pro? And is it possible to upgrade the RAM without voiding the warranty?

Hi I was wondering if it is possible to upgrade the graphics card on a MacBook Pro and the RAM without voiding the warranty? I have a gt 650m in my MacBook Pro, non retina, and to me, its not enough power for me, so i was looking around, and I found a retailer that would give me a nvidia gtx 660m for a decent price. Also, the ram needs to be at least 12gbs, to ensure that my computer would run fast.
If you can help, please tell me,
    Thankyou.

No, the video card cannot be exchanged - you have a pretty decent GPU there; not sure why you'd want to switch it out. You can upgrade the RAM to a maximum of 16GBs. Apple recommends upgrading in matching pairs, so I don't really think I'd try 4GB and 8GB stick.
Both Crucial and OWC have memory available for the new Macs. Both are reputable dealers and know Macs well and I would only buy from these sources (and I would buy Crucial, were it me).
Although your Mac didn't come with a users manual outlining the installation of the additional RAM, you can download the late 2011 model users guide as the models themselves are almost identical.
Good luck - write back with any questions.

  • Is it possible to upgrade the graphics card in my aluminum 13-inch Macbook (Late 2008)?

My 13-inch Macbook (Late 2008) currently uses the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB graphics card, but I want to upgrade it, so that I can play games at a higher quality. Is this possible? If so, what graphics cards are compatible with my Macbook (Late 2008)?
    Thank you.

The graphics card on a MacBook is part of the logic board not a separate card so it can't be upgraded.

  • Can we upgrade the graphic card on macbook pro 13 inch mid 2012

I just bought my macbook pro 13 inch mid 2012. I am wondering can i upgrade the graphic card to NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M discrete processor with up to 1GB of video memory?

Nope - you're stuck with the Intel 4000. If you wanted a higher-performance GPU, you should have bought a 15".
    Sorry,

  • Can't update AMD graphics card drivers in Macbook Pro 15" 2011

I've been having this problem for a while now, and from what I understand, it's a fairly common issue with bootcamp but I have not been able to find a solution to the problem nonetheless. I am using a 15" Macbook Pro from 2011 (purchased in early September, not sure if that was before the 'late 2011' model or not), running Windows 7 Home Premium x64 through bootcamp v4.0. The graphics card is an AMD Radeon HD 6750m last updated on 6/13/2011 to version 8.812.0.0.
I have tried many times to update the card using the AMD catalyst control center supposedly made for windows 7 in bootcamp, but no matter what compatibility options I choose, the installer either tells me there is no graphics adapter (auto detect) or just crashes immediately after starting installation of the catalyst control center. I've also attempted reinstalling bootcamp several times, each with a fresh download of the windows support software, though I have not completely uninstalled Windows 7. I'm not sure if the problem is with the bootcamp drivers themselves or with AMD's software or a combination of both, and a solution would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I know this is completely the wrong spot for this, but while I'm here, does anybody else have issues running EA's Origin download service? I just installed it in bootcamp a few days ago to play Mass Effect 3, and ever since then my computer gets display lag (e.g. in windows media player the video freezes for a few seconds at a time, while the sound continues playing) sometimes, especially during and after attempting to play Mass Effect 3. I already checked to make sure that both Origin and Mass Effect 3 are fully up to date, so I thought it might have something to do with the graphics card.
Anyway, thanks for the assistance, and I apologize for asking a question that has probably been answered several times. I searched through several posts, I couldn't find any answers to my problem.

Despite all of these helpful posts from the community, I'm still coming up short. I'm attempting to update my ATI Radeon HD 6770m driver on windows 7 64-bit. I've followed this guide:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3866652?start=0&tstart=0
(third post down) - I also use Drive Sweeper after using CCCleaner and device manager uninstall.
Every time I attempt to install the driver after rebooting, I receive an error message stating "Driver install: the INF file was not found" with a log stating that the driver failed to install upon completion.
When I attempt to use control panel>Device Manager>Display Adapters>Update Driver Software>Browse My Computer For Driver Software and then choose the appropriate file path (including subfolders) or by choosing from a list of device drivers and selecting one of the two inf files in c:/amd/support/12-2_mobility../packages/drivers/display/w76a_inf, I receive the following error message:
"Windows Encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device
Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.
    AMD Radeon HD 6700m Series
There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.
If you know the manufacturer of your device, you can visit its website and check the support section for driver software."
I'm hitting nothing but dead ends here. I just want to play SWTOR with an updated driver!
Please provide a detailed, step-by-step solution (if you have one). It is not safe to assume that I have any experience regarding graphics drivers or running windows in bootcamp. Thanks in advance.

  • My macbook pro 2.2ghz, i7 , early 2011 having problem with the graphic card

hi, just need clarification, that i was made to understand that the NVDIA graphic card installed in Macbook Pro, has a warranty of 3 years, eventough without Apple Protection Plan. Can someone clarify this , as i m having problem with it now.

No, the GPU does not have a seperate 'three year warranty'... unless you purchased the extended AppleCare Protection Plan.
If you feel that you're having problems with your GPU, take your machine to your local Apple Store or an AASP and have them run a free diagnostic test. If the card is faulty, and you don't have a APP, you'll have to pay to have the entire logic board replaced.
