Can the H-Squared Air Mount for AirPort Extreme be mounted horizontally on a wall withOUT the Horizontal Adapter?

Can the H-Squared Air Mount for the Airport Extreme Base Stataion (5th Generation) be mounted horizontally on a wall withOUT also having to buy the Horizontal Adapter (which costs another $14.95)?
Are there mounting holes in the Air Mount to allow for that?

Yes, if you wanted to use a couple of L brackets, you could do this. The chances of the pre-drilled holes in the L brakets  lining up with the pre-drilled holes in the Air Mount are open to question, though. So, you may need to some drilling.
I suppose you could design your own horizonatal adapter out of wood, but once you did that, you might as well use another piece of wood for the top shelf. Then, you don't need the Air Mount at all.
Are there mounting holes in the Air Mount to allow for that?
The Air Mount has a dozen, maybe more pre-drilled holes. As you might imagine, the Horizontal Adapter mates perfectly with the Air Mount.  The picture in the link below will give you a good idea.

  • Extend Air Omni for Airport Extreme

I buyed from Apple Store Online the Extend Air Omni for Airport Extreme, but now my Airport Extreme don't have a antenna port.
    It's possible ?

Only the M8799LL/A & M9397LL/A models of the AirPort Extreme Base Stations (AEBS) provide an external antenna port which you can plug the ExtendAIR Omni.

  • Where do I download drivers for airport extreme.....my iPad can not be set up by he current software

where do I download drivers for airport extreme.....my iPad can not be set up by he current software

I have an airport extreme with updated software(latest) and I setup an Ipad 3 on it with ios6(wirelessly). You can access the airport to update it with the utitlity app on an ios device, mac, or pc. I dont think it has anything to do with the airport software. Did you try rebooting the airport, then trying again?
Like james said, maybe more detail would help someone help you.

  • Why can't I install software for AirPort Extreme 802.11n while running Mountain Lion OSX?

Why can't I install software for AirPort Extreme 802.11n while running Mountain Lion OSX?  The installation CD simply says that the software can't be installed while running this OSX.

Mountain Lion already has the most recent, updated version of AirPort Utility installed on your Mac. The version on your CD is out of date, so you can trash the CD.
Look in Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility.

  • Is the maximum number of users for Airport Extreme per device, i.e. 2 AEBS = 100 users, one AEBS extending the other on the same wireless network?

Is the maximum number of users for Airport Extreme per device, i.e. 2 AEBS = 100 users, one AEBS extending the other on the same wireless network?

50 users per device, assuming that the "main" router is setup to deliver an adequate number of network IP addresses for all devices.
2 AEBS = 100 users, but that is really more of a theoretical max.
If you really need 100 connections, it would be much better to use 3 AEBS to spread things out.

  • HT4262 How can I connect 6 computers simultaneously to Airport extreme?

I have tried troubleshooting several ways and the some computers work and others don't. How can I connect 6 wireless computers to Airport Extreme?

    Matt
Is it possible to speak on the phone?  The situation is so convoluted it might be easier to help me get back on track in person. When I first had this issue I got on an apple site that had a chat room in which I typed in my problem.  After several missives back and forth, the apple technician asked for my number and we spoke on the phone. The technician walked me through rebooting the actual airport plug (as opposed to the router box) and got me up and running. Do you know how I can relocate that chat site for technical support?
    Thanks

  • Can I print from my iPad using airport extreme?

Can I print from my iPad using airport extreme 802.11n ?

iOS devices use AirPrint to print directly to a printer. That would require a printer that is AirPrint-ready. Unfortunately, just connecting a non-AirPrint-ready printer to the USB or Ethernet ports of the AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS), will NOT enable it for AirPrint.

  • Antennas for Airport Extreme

I would like to extend the range of my Airport Extreme. I ordered a D-Link antenna from MacMall with their assurance that it was compatible with Airport Extreme, but I find that the connector from the antenna does not match the jack on the back of my Airport Extreme.
Is there an adaptor that will allow the D-Link antenna to connect? Or can anyone recommend another antenna that is compatible with Airport Extreme?
My local Apple Store had nothing in stock and was no help at all, even though the manual for the Airport Extreme (bought 6 months ago) says that's where I can go for an antenna to extend the range.
    Thanks for any help,

This is patently not true. There is a jack on the
back of the Airport Extreme (the round model) for an
external antenna, and the user's manual that came
with it clearly states that an external antenna can
be purchased to extend the range of the device.
Read the posting, dude, and read the title of the Discussion Forum, "AirPort Extreme (802.11n)":
    and maybe re-read it:
No external antenna can be hooked up to an Apple Airport Extreme Base Station (802.11n). The AEBSn uses multiple internal antennas.
I repeat: the AEBSn CANNOT use external antennas. Period.
OK, so back to the original question -- why does Apple Store's site state specifically: "With this AirPort Extreme Base Station model you can extend the range of your wireless network by adding an Apple-approved omnidirectional or directional external antenna." and " External antenna port available on selected models. For use with Apple-approved antennas only; antennas sold separately. " and the title on the page is "AirPort Extreme Base Station (with modem and antenna port)" (http://tinyurl.com/yq3wmz)
Does anyone know specifically whether or not you can add an antenna, and if so, which one, and where to get it? I searched on Apple's site and couldn't find any antennas . . .
It just feels like this is getting extremely difficult, when Apple has always been extremely simple . . .
    Any help would be welcome!
    Thanks!

  • Can't see USB hd connected to airport extreme w/ iPad

Plugged external hd in airport extreme but can not see using IPad .I have downloaded app for airport & can find airport but does not show hard drive. How can I access files on external hard drive?

Unfortunately you can only access hard drives plugged in airport extreme or time capsule, from a Mac or a PC. iOS devices (iPad, iPhone, iPod touch) do not support this feature.

Can the power adapter be used in China?

The short answer is, Yes; but you may need some form of adapter to connect the plug to the local style of socket.  A quick search on the internet found this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AC_power_plugs_and_sockets

  • A visitor from Japan is unable to connect an iPhone or a Macbook Air to my Airport Extreme it says the password is invalid but the password works for other devices?

Am unable connect a MacBook Air to Airport Extreme using a valid password get an error message that password is invalid. The Mac belongs to a visitor from Japan?

Test by simplifying the name for the wireless and set names for the two bands..
    eg AE24ghz and AE5ghz.
Then use no security.. does the MBA and iphone then join..
If so put back security.. wpa2 with simple password, no spaces pure alphanumeric mixed case and numbers.
If no connection test with fixed channels .. say 11, 9, 6 in that order for 2.4ghz.
Don't worry about 5ghz for now.. if it still won't join it is somehow incompatible.. you need to reset the Japanese devices but I am not sure how.

I was trying to install an AirPort Extreme card on my G5 iMac...where I couldn't physically pull the tip of the antenna off the gray plastic base...
I tried turning it to the right and left, but it didn't help me out. Seems like I need a knack or something??
Somebody who knows it, could you please help?

This Apple Support Document will provide some ideas to minimize wireless interference:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1365
The first obvious thing to try is to move the AirPort Extreme as far away as possible from the headphones. You can use virtually any length of Ethernet cable to physically connect the AirPort Extreme to your modem.
After that, the next best bet is to experiment with a different 2.4 GHz Channel setting by manually trying different channels.
If the interference persists, you may be forced into trying a different manufacturer of headphones, or abandon the BlueTooth communications.
A few years ago, I had to replace my cordless phones at the house for the same type of reason. Whenever the phone would ring....the wireless signal would crash.

  • Extended router's network for Airport extreme. Works well with MacbookPro. I can print with notebook with XP SP3 and, I can see the USB-harddisc in the Airport service program but, I cannot use it. I have set filesharing etc. What do I do wrong?

I connected the Airport Extreme wireless to the existing network of my router. At the Airport there is connected via USB a Printer and three hard discs. All works well on my MacBook Pro - I can print and use the hard discs. On my notebook and my desktop, both with XP-SP3 I can use the printer only. In the Airport service program - manual set up - hard discs I can see the drives with the correct names but I cannot work with it. I don't find neithe the Airport Extreme nor the drives in the Windows Explorer. Of course I've set 'filesharing' etc. What do I do wrong? Where is the mistake in the set up?

The Utility transferred all of the AE's settings, so I still have to change the password, which leaves me with only 2 other questions, I think:
    1)  I assume it's just a matter of using the Utility, entering a stronger password and checking for it to be remembered in Keychain Access.  But do I have to  change the password for each individual unit-- the TC, the Extreme and both Expresses-- or will changing it just for the TC alone work for the entire network?
Resetting the password you will need to do for each device... the utility cannot even see those old units.
So you will have to do it for each one.. think it through.. because as you change passwords the others will lose connection.. so start from the express which are wireless extending .. change those first.. and go back up the chain.. as each one changes it will drop off the network.. until you reach extreme and change that. Then you might need to reboot the whole network to get everything talking again. If something goes wrong.. just pluck that one out of the mix and plug in ethernet.. reset and redo the setup. That is my preferred method anyway.. do everything in isolation one by one. By ethernet and then nothing goes wrong.
    2)  Who's the treasonous SOB who spilled the beans to you about the ICBM in my back yard?!?
    N.Korean hackers.
[Edit] Whoops-- one more question:  I want to partition the TC's disk, but Disk Utility doesn't see it.  What do I need to do?
You cannot partition a network disk. And apple provided no tools for it in the TC itself. You can pull the disk out and partition it but that voids your warranty. (although done with care who is to know).
    Look at Q3 here.
    http://pondini.org/TM/Time_Capsule.html
Mixing TM and data on the TC is worth planning carefully. They don't necessarily sit happily together.
