Can the iMac 27" be a monitor for ps3?

I am planning to use my imac as a monitor but i have to buy the Belkin AV360 but some says that i only need the mini Display port to HDMI because the iMac can already be used as a monitor by pressing command+F2. So, which is which? If i have to buy the Belkin, is there another way to do it or another cheaper product?

Your computer supports 32 GB of RAM. You can buy the RAM in OWC to guarantee maximum performance with your computer.
Respecting to the hard drive, you can install another hard drive on your Mac. To install it, follow the steps > http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Installing+iMac+Intel+27-Inch+EMC+2429+Hard+Drive/75 55/1

  • Can the imac be an external monitor fr another system?

Hi, I am wonddering if the monitor portion of the imac can be used on a separate system. I am hoping to use it as an additional monitor for my laptop. This ould not be it's sole use but I would like to be able to do it occasionally. Is this possible?
    Kalel

No, it does not have a vga input.
    However,
If its a windows laptop, and you are not doing that requires video playback.
You can use windows remote desktop, which is similar to a vnc but gives you much better performance.
for example, I have been able to use photoshop remotely with acceptable performance, Microsoft word is almost as quick as running in on the physical machine.
The only things a vnc or remote desktop is not suitable for is video playback, games of course, intense graphics, and applications that make direct use of the audio hardware. (audio is redirected to the remote client)

  • Can 2012 iMac be used as monitor for PC with thunderbolt?

    Hi,
Im planning on buying a new 2012 iMac and was wondering about TDM - Target Display Mode.
My PC rig is up for a new motherboard and the thought was to buy a thunderbolt equipped one and then use my shiny new iMac as display for it.
That way I can switch between them easily and only use the one screen. I know Apple support pages tell you that any thunderbolt equipped mac can use the iMac in TDM but what about a Windows PC with thunderbolt motherboard?
    Any help is appreciated!

You might try using the Parallels software program that enables Windoze to be run on a Mac; that way you could eliminate a second keyboard too. But then, if you had Parallels runing on your Mac the PC would be totally and utterly superflous since you could just load all of your PC stuff into a sub-directory on the Mac HD. It'd run better too.
That is fine If he has a Non Branded install of Windows on his PC. In other words a Retail copy of Windows installed on his PC. None of the Virtual Machine programs let you import a Branded installl of Windows. That is Totally against the license terms. When I say Branded I mean a version that came with the PC from makers like Dell, HP, Sony and the like. Those versions are for those specific brand of PCs and can Not be moved or installed on other hardware, virtual or physical.
And to your comment that it will run better on a Mac is just completely false. No OS runs better in a Virtual Machine then it does on it own set of physical hardware. Not only that but if you use Boot Camp to install Windows on it own partition on the Mac the Mac still has limiting factor invovled that are not present when running on Real Windows PC hardware.

  • Can the IMAC use an extended monitor?

I have the old Imac G4, a fantastic computer, but the screen has driven my old eyes crazy. I'm looking at getting a nice new Intel Imac and was wondering if it has the capacity to extend the screen to a second monitor? I know the original Imac could not do this. Will the new Imac have this capability.
Thanks in advance, you guys have saved my life on more than one occassion.

Yes, the Intel iMacs are the first iMacs to be able to support a seond monitor in both mirror and extended desktop mode.
According to the tech specs found HERE (look in the middle column under "Graphics and Video) and you will see that the iMacs have -
"Support for external display in extended desktop
    * Digital resolutions up to 1920 x 1200
    * Analog resolutions up to 2048 x 1536
Support for external display in video mirroring mode"

    Hi
I was wondering if it was possible to connect the new Mac Pro, that is coming out Autum 2013, to an iMac 27 so as to use the iMac as it's monitor?

  • Can I use my 24 inch' 2007 imac as an external monitor for my PC

can I use my 24 inch' 2007 imac as an external monitor for my PC

No, sorry, you can't. Pre-Thunderbolt iMacs could to this, but with Thunderbolt-equpped iMacs they can only be used as a screen for other Thunderbolt-equipped computers. No company has yet to come up with a converter that works with Thunderbolt Macs. The only way you could get video from a game console into your Mac would be via a video capture device and the inherent lag in such capture would, I think, make most if not all games unplayable.

You know, this is just a thought.  I'm not sure the differences between the iq526 and iq770, but as I was looking around I found this article.  I don't know if it'll help, but you might want to take a look.  Evidently someone figured out how to use the HP touchsmart as an external monitor for his Dell laptop.

  • IMac as an extended monitor for a windows based laptop

Can I use my iMac as an extended monitor for a windows based Laptop while also still using the iMac as an iMac?

    Hi tpskoog,
Certain iMacs support a mode known as Target Display Mode which allows them to function as an external display, but at the moment only other Macs with certain video out ports are supported as the primary (source) machine. You may find the following article helpful:
