Can the ipad2 export 1080p video?

I know that iMovie allows this and so does vericorder 1st video, but I haven't seen this capability in any other app. The guy who makes Videograde had this to say:
Unfortunately, the iPad 2 is does not allow for the 1080p video processing. The device is capable of it, but iOS restricts that option. I even got confirmation from Apple that the only current device supporting that feature is the iPhone 4S.
"VideoGrade is coded in a way where it asks for the device capabilities on start up. That means that, if Apple changes that in a future iOS release, the App will support 1080p out of the box, without needing to release a new update.
I'm sorry I don't have better news. I understand how important that feature is and know that the iPad 2 has the necessary horsepower to process videos at that resolution, so you can be sure that I'm always looking for alternate ways to include this feature."
I'm, not sure what to think - the latest avid app only allows 720p export on the iPad 2. Surely they would have provided 1080p if it was allowed. Then why does apply only allow it in iMovie????? So confusing!!!!!!
What are your thoughts?

Thanks Michael
The iPad 3 (aka 'new iPad') specs are crystal clear when it comes to video out: AirPlay video streaming to Apple TV (3rd generation) at up to 1080p and Apple TV (2nd generation) at up to 720p
The iPad 2 specs are vague: Video mirroring and video out support: Up to 1080p with Apple Digital AV Adapter or Apple VGA Adapter (cables sold separately).
No mention of Apple TV.
Does anybody know for certain whether the iPad2 will support 1080p video streaming to Apple TV (3rd generation) ?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Probably because your set up doesn't support HDCP.

  • Can the iPad2 receive video clips from an Eye-Fi Pro X2 card?

I had success using the Direct Connect mode to send PICTURES from my Eye-Fi card to the iPad2, however it would not recognize video files either from my GoPro HD HERO2 or my Canon G12 powershot. Are other people having this issue?

Pad2, the new iPad Supported Video Formats & Movie Formats
    H.264 video up to 1080p, 30 frames per second, High Profile level 4.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats;
    MPEG-4 video up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats;
Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format
Another way to import videos. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

  • How long can the iPhone 3GS record video before the battery runs out?

My father invested in an iPhone 3GS Tripod adapter for his tripod, for some conferences and lectures. He has a 16GB 3GS, which will record about 8.6 hours, according to another thread I've read about on here. But he doesn't really want to bring the USB/Adapter cable with him, and have to worry about finding a power outlet. Assuming his phone is on full charge, and bluetooth/wifi are shut off, and brightness is kept a bit dim (not too dim) - can anyone give me a round about answer of how long the it will record video before the battery dies? This function is today, so timing is critical. I will have him take the charger/usb with extension cable just in case. I'd appreciate anyones input

Not sure if the battery will die before or after your done recording on the iPhone. But most sites are claiming that you can record up to 2GB per video.I just recorded a one minute clip, and it rounded off to about 34MB.So if you devide that,it rounds off to around an hour of recording video...But take that with a grain of salt,I'm not good with math lol

  • Can the iPhone 4 shoot video in slow motion?

Can the iphone 4 shoot in slow mo? This video says they shot it in slow motion but I don't think it can?
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_rV0tzYx8Gk

    This question is too funny...
Nothing can shoot in slow motion (since things always occur in real time). You can only *play back* a video in slow motion (i.e., reduced frame rate).....

  • Can the ipod photo display video ?

I have an ipod photo 60GB & i was wondering if it can display video if i updated its software & downloaded itunes 6.

No. Not at this time. Technically, hackers have been able to get the photo to play video, but only when they installed Linux on their iPod, so not a real practical solution. That said, the screen on the photo is too small for video, so if you really want video best bet is to sell the photo and get a 5G. The screen is a LOT nicer and readable than another other iPod screen to-date.

  • Can the Ipad2 work with any cellular network?..Celtel Tanzania?

The Ipad2+wiFi+3g from the Apple store are configured for AT&T or Verizon...If I buy this on line for the store, can I then reconfigure for any celluar network or does that men its locked and tied to these networks only?...I need to use it in the US, UK, Europe, Tanzania and Kenya.

The iPad 2 is not locked to any carrier.  In the US, you can buy an iPad with an AT&T sim card, or a Verizon model without a sim card.  The AT&T model can be used with any GSM carrier's 3G micro sim.  The Verizon can only be used on a CDMA network.

  • Why can't I export my video to youtube in HD from the trial version?

I am using final cut x trial version and all the video that I shot was in HD and when I go to export it to youtube it doesnt give me an option of 1080p I can only export in 540p. I need to have the video uploaded in high definition I am using it to apply for jobs. Can anyone help me?

  • How can I export 1080p video through iMovie 10.0.5?

    Hi,
I know this question has been asked many times, but I just cannot find a solution. I need help please.
I have searched for tutorials and questions and they all say to export the video through quicktime. It could be done by clicking share, then choosing quicktime. But the thing is I do not have that option on my iMovie app on my MacbookPro.
Once I press share i have the options to share on Theater, Email, iTunes, Youtube, Facebook, Vimeo, CNN ireport, and saving it as a file.
It shows that 1080p could be an option, but I am not able to pick 1080p as an export on any of the options to share shown above.

I was in the same boat at kiril. I wanted to export a .mov file. What you can also do is select the clip, then select "share" it will bring up a separate menu. If you select to email the clip it will create a file on your email application. With the email open you can then right click on the file within the email and select "save to downloads folder".
Within the downloads folder your file will be listed as a .mov file. Move the .mov where ever you want it to go.
OR you can select within the email when you right click "save attachment" and select where you want to save the .mov file.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can you share/export HD video as SD 4x3?

After editing HD video using FCPX, can you adjust settings when you share (export) to make a ProRes SD 4x3 720X480 video?  Without using Compressor?  Can you edge crop the video in the same step?

Easiest way is to create a 480 project;  copy the t080 timeline and paste it into the 480 project. It will be letterboxed because of the different aspect ratios. If you don;t want letterboxing, use transform>scale to fill the screen or spatial conform – in the Inspector. (I prefer transform, because with scale and position I have more control over framing.)

  • Can FCPX "upconvert" & export DVD video at 960x540?

My video needs are basic -- mostly editing short clips, but often they're imported from standard DVDs from the pre-HD era. But as an audio pro, I'm accustomed to very flexible and precise editing controls.
Frustrated with iMovie, I'm considering purchasing FCPX, but I have two questions:
    1. In iMovie, I detach the audio from the video for precise audio editing. But iMovie's audio controls are painfully rudimentary.
—>  In FCPX, with audio detached, are you able to fine-tune fade curvatures and otherwise precisely edit volume automation?
    2. I ultimately need clips that are 960x540, and while iMovie 9 upconverted DVD video (which is 720x480) and exported it at 960x540, that feature (like many others) has been removed from iMovie 10.
—>  In FCPX, can 720x480 video be exported at 960x540?

Best route is to download the trial and work with it to see whether it meets your requirements.
If you're ripping DVDs, presumably you're using something like MPEG Streamclip.
Whatever you're using, you would rip them as SD and then could  upres them. You could also do that in Streamclip (or Compressor). But fair warning; the images will be softened as a result.

  • What settings for exporting 1080p videos for Youtube recorded from FRAPS?

    Hello,
I've tried a custom setting of mine which took an hour or so to render but came out blurry:
    Video:
    H264
    1920 x 1080
    Bitrate: 15
    VBR, 1 PASS
    29.97 FPS
    PAL
And audio is just on default with 160 bitrate.
The quality from FRAPS is perfect but as said before when inported in Premiere and then rendered its outputted blurry and jumpy.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

  • Can the Camera become a Video Recorder with Firmware?

I'm just curious if that's even possible with a firmware upgrade. It'd be cool if they could release a firmware so you could record video and hence upload it to youtube :P

So no one knows for sure? What's needed for a camera
to record video? I mean, can't the iPhone's CPU
handle the crunch and they possibly just limit to
recording 30 seconds of video or something?
Video means more space needed. I have an 8bg iPhone and its kind of a bummer that I can't upload my whole iTunes music library to my iPhone. My library is about 16bg so I dont have all my songs portable, I have partial.
Maybe its just me but I could care less about video functionality, I would rather have all my music and my videos and some pictures on my phone and I'm satisfied already.
maybe more app update(s) other than that I love my phone

  • Can the iPod (30 GB Video version) play animated .GIF files/pictures?

When I go into the pictures folder, it only shows the first frame. Can it play animations?

"Importing" .gif files is a very old QT Pro "trick" and was made available in the first "Pro" version of QT (3).
I still use the feature to add logos or other, older animations to some of my newer QT "movies".
Some of the older QT tricks can still be used today:
    http://homepage.mac.com/kkirkster/QT_Fun2/
I've been focusing my skill (very little) on the QuickTime discussions pages but visit these "iPod" discussions pages every now and then.
Since the new iPod can also "do" the .mov format I thought I'd observe and comment for the newer users.
    Happy New Year!
Oh, btw, QuickTime can also do some magic with your Photoshop files.
