Can the K7N2 Delta-L run CAS2

I have my memory set to CAS2-3-3-11 in the bios of my K7N2 Delta-L, but CPU-Z reports  it as being CAS2.5-3-3-11. Can the K7N2 Delta-L run CAS2?
Thanks gents.

Can now run CAS2 with the 5.6 bios. Thanks liquidsoul

  • Can't install OEM version of WinXP on the K7N2 Delta!??!?

I posted on amdmb.com's forums about how I cannot get WinXP to install on my hard drive connected to the k7n2 delta. Wonkanoby, a senior moderator on one of the boards here, and a visiotor on those boards at amdmb.com, stated that OEM versions won't work on this mainboard and you have to have a retail box windows version. Is this true? if so, this is complete crap! If MSI thinks I'm going to spend $150 bucks on a retail boxed version of Xp when I have a perfectly fine working copy right here, they are N U T S!!! This has got to be the most outrageous thing I've ever heard concerning mainboard issues. I hope MSI realizes they will either be working on a bios fix or they're paying me the restocking fee to send this board back to Newegg.

How to Install the OEM Version Windows XP Professional
    Last updated: 6/18/02
    Q.  How Do You Install the Windows XP Pro OEM Version?
    A.  I install it on a new computer (or hard disk drive taken down to "bare metal") from the DOS prompt with a Windows 98 Startup floppy (http://duxcw.com/digest/Fromshop/software/windows/startup/startup.htm). Put a copy of smartdrv.exe on the Startup floppy. You should be able to find a copy on and existing Windows 9x/Me computer at C:windows. It is on the CD’s in D:win98.  Boot to the floppy and use fdisk to partition the drive (the process the same as that at http://duxcw.com/digest/Howto/software/windows/upgrade/fdisk.htm. Format the C: drive. Do not install the system files. If you have more than one partition, they can be formatted during the Windows XP installation or with Windows XP after it is installed. Also, use fdisk to manually make C: active if there is more one partition. Load smartdrv.exe…
    A:>smartdrv.exe
    …and run D:i386winnt.exe, where D: is your CD-ROKM drive.
Do not delete or reformat C: with this method.  Winnt.exe copies the install files to that partition. You can convert it to NTFS and that process is fast.  It should also work if the i386 directory is copied to a scratch hard disk and the hard disk is connected to the secondary IDE interface.
OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer = a company that makes/markets computers (and parts), etc. which include parts made by other companies, and not the “original” manufacturer as OEM implies, just masquerading as one.  Licenses of OEM versions of Windows, etc. software are sold to computer manufactures for installation on new computers.  They are full versions of Windows, not upgrades.  They are widely available on the "grey market" and Internet and cost considerably less than retail full versions.  Just be careful not to purchase a pirated copy.

  • Can I have an oppinion on the K7N2 Delta-ILSR

I'm looking for my next board and after reading this article dated:August 2003,in Maximum PC mag, I wanted to know more. I have always been a Pentium guy so I don't know anyting about AMD and it's compatibilities...what is a fast processer for this board..?
How would it compare to the Pentium in Gigahertz?
Is this mother board even worth the trouble..?
So many questions, so little time.

I have and love hate my MSI K7N2 Delta when its working its a great board but it can tax you at times.
I've learned a lot in building this one.  I have been building computers for years started with the K6 III 450 and a FIC motherboard.
I never had any problems with any of them just put togather load and use.
The only other time I had any real problems with any of my computers was when ME came out I jumped right away what a mistake that was it was mouths before all the drivers where fixed and even than some never got fixed and had to quit using some of my hardware like a sound Card etc.
The Nvidia chipset that is the heart of the K7N2 Delta is very picky about what ram you use even some that look like there working can give you headaces.
Also they take very good power supplies the cheap 300 to 400 wat power supplies just won't hack it. Get a good one. Antec, Enermax etc.

  • Does the K7N2 Delta-L have LBA 48 addressing?

I want to add a 250GB HD but the FAQ for the K7N2 Delta says that it can only support up to 160GB drives. It should be able to support drives higher than 160GB if it has LBA 48 addressing, right? I don't if it does. Or maybe the FAQ is just out of date as it could have been made before 200+ drives existed? All I'd like to know is if I install a 250GB drive on this mobo it will not be detected as a 160GB. And yes, I have XP SP2. Thanks.

    hello welcome to forum.
yes your mobo support LBA with 48bit addressing.
if you add 250GB HDD will detected correctly at his full capacity.

Can MSI K7N2 DELTA use SATA harddrive without using RAID??
    THNAK YOU

well sort off as although if you attatch a single drive you have to create an array in the raid bios ,its not a true array more a means for it to work with the drive
but if you mean without creating an array in the raid bios then no

  • Where are the K7N2 Delta temps sensors located?

Where are the K7N2 Delta temps sensors located?
Okay I know one reads from the diode... altough the reading still seems to be low compared to other diode readers (like the 8K3A+ which gives you readins in the 50's).
Where is the other one located?

    MSI Tech... how about it?

  • Can the Gateway P-7805u run Crysis on all high settings?

Can the Gateway P-7805u run Crysis on all high settings? It seems like a beast and I was thinking of getting it, but im not gonna spend that money if it cant produce. I have a very old computor and im tired of running everything on low.
    thanks-Helsing

Crysis is one of the most power hungry games ever created. I have seen desktop computers running Dual 9800Gt's come to a crawl when running Crysis with everything maxed out.
Have you googled that Gateway model to see if there are any benchmark test out there?

  • TROUBLE with the K7N2-DELTA

I just purchased and set up a K7N2-DELTA. I am having a problem. I cant get to the bios... all I see is the slpash screen with the 8x graphic.
My D-Bracket shows three green and one red and unless the manual is wrong it means that the floppy is being initialized.
I have tried switch the cable around ever which way, clearing the CMOS and restarting, tried three different floppy drives, two different cables but all I get is a fancy 8x graphic and a red light. I have tried to boot nothing but a video card (GeForce MX440 8x 128mb), one stick of ram (512 kingston pc266), HD (WD) and a CD drive (took off the floppy) and it still isn't working.
I will try any suggestion besides throwing the MB out the window :o).
    HELP PLEASE!!!!!!
I have also tried pushing DEL before the graphic appears and then the D-Bracket says initializing the memory. I even switch between 1 and 2 using 1&2, 1&3, 1&2, just 1 and just 2.
I cant believe that I bought this new board and I cant even get to my BIOS... any and all help would be appreciated. X(

Your right the D Bracket is not correct and has actually hurt instead of helped me troubleshoot.
After more trouble shooting I think it is my HD that is at fault here. Maybe someone can relate to this and or has a solution.
I have the following set up
    IDE 1
Master- 40gb HD (which I will refer to as HD1) (which is the one I'm having problems with)
Slave- 40gb HD (which I will refer to as HD2)
    IDE 2
    Master- CDRW
    Slave- DVD
I'm having some real issues with this. Again my system wont go past the slash screen before bios. I can get past this problem by doing the following.
On IDE1 put CD drive as master and set HD1 as Slave. It will boot to bios but the bios wont read the HD1 and it says the CD is IDE1 Slave. I dont understand this because the jumpers are set as master and it is the first on the IDE cable.
I have hooked HD1 to another system and ran WD diag floppy and erased the entire thing and tested and it says no errors are found.
Move the drive to the MSI board and I'm stuck at the splash.
I have tried moving jumpers to CS and SLAVE and standalone but no changes.
HD2 is my old C drive so I dont want to try this as MASTER and re-install XP or I will loose data.
Hopefully this will find someone who has experiance the same or similar problems and have some advice for me.
One more thing.. on a seperate comuter HD1 reads as a drive in XP and works fine... just cant get to to work on the new board.
    ANY SUGGESTIONS????

  • How many external monitors can the i7 Macbook Pro run?

I have two external 22" LCD. Can the new i7 Macbook Pro run both of these?

Yes, (assuming the minidisplay port is as capable as on the earlier models) but you will need additional hardware.
    Have a look at http://daggle.com/macbook-pro-multimonitor-4-monitors-at-once-1577 and http://www.codza.com/triple-monitor-setup-unibody-macbook

  • Can the Admin Tool be run as a standalone app?

Can the Admin Tool run without logging into a Dispatch Workstation?

    Yes it can.
In fact you actually side step licensing issues by doing this because "technically" you are
not running a dispatcher workstation and therefore don't need to pay for another license.
The file to run is usually located in: DispatchStation\AdminTools and is called: ResourceManager.exe
You would need to take EVERYTHING from the AdminTools directory to run the tool.
You'd also want to make sure that the config file: ResourceManager.exe.config still makes
sense for the machine that you are on.
One word of caution: Running the Admin tool stand-alone is not really encouraged. Not a lot
of testing has been done in this regard and you may run into issues that have not been
seen when the admin tool is run as part of the dispatcher workstation.
I'm not sure if the stand-alone admin tool is even officially supported.
I CAN say that much of the functionality that you see from the too when it is run as part of the DW
does work when it is stand-alone, just don't expect 100%.

  • CRC errors after getting the k7n2 delta-l

just wondering if anyone else is having this problem. i download game demos try to install them crc errors, transfer files between pcs on the lan corrupt files, sometimes try to install games off cds crc errors getting aggrevated returning board very soon waiting to see what tech support says to me im guessing its a bad ide controller never had a problem with the hardware in my asus board
450 watt powersupply dont remember by whom not taking case apart to look
    msi k7n2 delta-l
    ati radeon 9600xt
    80 gig westerd digital cavier
    liteon cd rom
    creative labs audigy es
512 ram not sure of the manufacturer
    amd athlon xp 3200
    latest bios and nforce drivers

well ok im beta testing a game for one and i know the download is good cause it was on my other board which was an asus a7v600 kt600 chipset so no it wasnt an nforce but i went back to the nforce chipset cause i had a shuttle board that was nforce 2 ultra chipset and i loved it up til the bios crashed same parts where on it that is on this one but anyways anything i download now and try to install it i get crc errors a different error each time sometimes no errors at all but 99.9% of the time there there im leaning toward it being a faulty eide controller as its doing it no matter which ide i plug it into ive already got an rma sending it back for replacement as i know my ram is good as my games that i installed play fine no problems but i will test my memory anyways

  • Can the fan break from running too long?

Yesterday I had a high-energy application running on my 13'' MacBook Pro Retina for a good five hours straight. I've used this application a couple times, but never for this long; the fan always runs with this application. Needless to say, the fan was running pretty loud for a while and the MacBook got pretty hot. Today, I launched the same application and the fan is noticeably a lot quieter. Also, the application seems to run a bit slower with some hiccups, wheras before it had run seamlessly. Is it possible I somehow damaged the fan by running the application too long?

It's possible for a fan to burnout. Apple store can replace, not too epensive, you may be able to find online if you do not have isues pulling the MBP apart. How to vids online as well.
You can download iStat to check fan speeds, temps, etc...

  • Can the new intel iMacs run Classic?

Hi just wondering if anyone knows if you can run Classic on intel
Intel iMac 17" 1 Gig of Ram 1.83 ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

The inability to (easily?) run Classic was a big and unexpected issue for me, when I upgraded from my PowerPC 7500 running OS 8.6 to an Intel iMac. Frustratingly, the iMac had lots of software and lots of Help suggestions about how to migrate from OS 8 or 9 to OS 10... but none of it was useful on an Intel machine.
After a fair amount of work and some third-party shareware, got it all to work. Moving (exporting then importing) Quicken records was the most difficult task. The most persistent problem is the absence of extension or type/creator information on the files I've moved, which renders them invisible to Spotlight.

  • Samsung Memory and the K7N2 Delta-ILSR

    Grargness, McGrarg!
I am having problems with memory for this (otherwise good) motherboard.
The first shtuff that I put in was WinBond DDR400 - 2 identical 256Mb sticks. This seemed to work, but often, when I start the machine, it beeps at me and the bracket shows that POST has failed the memory check. Secondly, sometimes, the amount of RAM displayed by the BIOS and Windows 2000 sometimes showed single channel 256Mb! I soldiered on for a time - it only happened once in 2 to 3 reboots or fresh starts (but can be consistently happening on a bad day).
OK, I thought, I will try my supplier for other memory sticks - I tried a few other brands and then was told thst Samsung would be good for this board. Well, I got the real shtuff and put it in (2x256Mb DDR400) - first time it starts, the machine exhibits the SAME issue! Ahh! Then, it restarts again and I get further - it boots halfway into Win2k, but then blue-screened. Next reboot and the machine gets fully into Win2k, but then reboots of its own accord! Next time it reboots and I am here, right now and it seems OK. Hmmm. How long do I have before the machine reboots of its own accord again?
What am I doing wrong? My setup is an XP 2000+, running with the 133 FSB. All defaults, pretty well, I suppose...
    Thanks,
    Leni

Well, I have taken your advise. Problem is, the memory sometimes fails POST - I have the four-eyed bracket to tell me that.
I have tried clocking it down to 133 to match the processor, but I sometimes get it telling me that I only have 256Mb memory? This is crazy! There seems to be no logic why at one time, the memory works, but another time, the memory does not work. I have swapped "up" from WinBond memory and now it is worse - at least with the WinBond, the memory worked at 200DDR, not just 133DDR.
Do I need to change the timings? The CAS is set (and it is steady, but without one stick registering) to be 2.5. The SPD indicates that it should be 3.0.
    Ideas?
    Thanks,
    Leni
