Can the mac book pro play pc games

I am planning on buying a new macbook pro and I was wondering if it will play pc games or do i have to get a mac verzion of them?

Buy a MacBook Pro you need for everything else, I suggest a 15" antiglare or larger, this way your secure online and portable.
Then for 3D PC gaming get yourself a Windows 7 gaming tower with a quad core i7 and expandable to 4-8 or even 16GB of RAM with a decent power supply, and where you can select from a veriety of the fastest video cards and of course all the latest games come out for Windows.
A Windows tower like this should last you a long time as a gaming machine as you just switch out the video card every year to keep up with the latest 3D games and not becoming fragbait.
Also most all games come out for Windows, use the Windows tower for gaming and offline uses, don't use it for anything Internet or file transfer related and it should remain secure. Use the Mac for all the risky stuff on the Internet, it's safer.
With a MacBook Pro (or any laptop) as a 3D gaming machine, it lasts about a year and a half, then you start having to drop the detail to keep your frame rate up with improvments in the game. You can't upgrade a video card in laptops.
The MacPro doesn't make a good 3D gaming machine as there are hardly any up to date video cards for it, you pretty much get what the machine came with and your stuck. (if your intersted, wait, they are due for a refresh)
If you can't spring for both machines, then get a PS3/Slim for your HDTV and 3D game on that. MacBook Pro for other uses.

We are in indonesia travelling and after downloading and installing Yosemite, on our next restart the screen went black and responds to nothing. Tried to reboot (shift key) in safe mode after first crashing the system but nothing responds except for the opening chime. Toal disaster so any help will be greatly appreciated. See if you can boot into the Recovery volume (boot with the Command + R keys held down). There you can reinstall the system.

Personally I use the Speck hard case on both of my MacBooks and they are the greates! Look around on Amazon and eBay and you can find them for $30-40. I wouldn't really recomend a silicon case for a macbook, but it's your preference.

That is probably a lot of stuff you do not want on your iPhone. So this can be handled a few different was. For you current situation, you can delete the apps directly on your iPhone by holding on the app until it starts to jiggle and then tap on the X of all the apps that you do not want. The second thing you can do is before you sync with iTunes, look at the app section on your iPhone to know what gets transfer to it and you can deselect items that you do not want. Lastly, if you download content on your iPad and it is a universal app, you can actually download it directly to your iPhone by looking at your past purchases and download it directly from the App Store. If you remove the battery the CPU power will be cut by 50% (whatever they told you) so that there's no lack of power or overheating issues. It's best to always keep the battery in.

If you want to set which OS your system boots into (provided Windows is installed using BootCamp and not a virtualization option such as Parallels, Fusion, or VirtualBox), just hold the "Option" key down when you turn your computer on. Continue to hold the key down until you see the options for booting into the OS of your choice. Just click on the arrow under the one you wish (tap to click won't work here if you have it enabled... you'll need to physically click the trackpad). If you want to change which OS your system normally boots into, just go into System Preferences in OS X and select "Starup Disk". I am gravely concerned with this high heat. I have to use a remote keyboard it is so hot, but gravely concerned with with the damage the heat is doing to to MAC BOOK PRO RETINA.

You didn't mention what sort of work you're doing - if you're just cutting video this shouldn't happen.
My suggestion would be to optimize all of your media to ProRes .
Even though PR is a much larger file it's much easier on the CPU. Playing back compressed media is like rendering all day.
I routinely use an old 2007 MBP with a core 2 duo and FCP7. I can cut and color correct with no problem at all using ProRes LT files. The only time it gets hot is during long renders.
I have the laptop elevated on a pedestal that allows air to pass underneath . During long renders I point a small fan at it which often cools it enough to shut the internal fans down.
All that said, I know the retina is a more compact design and components are much closer to each other.
So, I'd be interested to hear from another retina owner.

Connect the external drive to your Mac and drag the files from it to your Mac's internal drive. Then dismount and disconnect the external drive, connect the 1TB external drive, and drag the files from the internal drive onto the external. Nothing will have been deleted from any of the drives up to this point; the files will only have been copied. Verify that the files are readable. There's no reason they shouldn't be; this is just a precaution.
Now if you wish to delete the files from any of the drives, drag them to the Trash, and Empty the Trash while the drive from which they came is still connected. If you disconnect the drive before emptying the Trash, the files you were trying to remove from it won't be deleted. They'll remain in the Trash and continue to take up space on the drive.
Note that if your external drives are in NTFS format, you won't be able to write anything to them or delete anything from them, though you will be able to read and copy the files they contain. The NTFS disk format is read-only to the Mac OS, unless you have a third-party NTFS driver installed. To make your drives cross-platform readable and writable, you must reformat them in the FAT32 or ExFAT format.

Here's my dilemma: I am about to be a sophomore in college and my HP laptop just isn't cutting it for my regular use. My question (which I know is hard to answer) is whether I should purchase the Mac book pro or an iMac. Keep in my I have an iPhone and an iPad, which both come in handy for browsing. I currently use my iPad to keep most of my notes and lectures, but I still need a good computer. I need advice from someone who has had this same problem or owns both an iMac and MacBook Pro. I know my iPad doesn't replace a laptop and I will probably be told to decide whether I need portability, but I would like to hear from someone who also had to make this decision. I'm not leaning to one or the other right now. I am at my home for a good bit, but I do travel around a lot since I am in college. With google drive and other apps I can do most of my writing on my iPad, but for printing reasons I still need the computer. So what are some opinions on which is a better but considering my needs?

In college, my guess would be that portablity would be very important. Since the iMac isn't that sort of eliminates it from consideration.
