Can the Macbook Pro 15-inch 2012 model use PCIe SSD?

I am going to upgrade the internals of my 2012 Macbook Pro 15-inch model and was wondering if I could use PCIe SSD. If it does work will my computer be able to use the benefits of a PCIe SSD or will it just work like a SATA SSD?

Thats and excellent question....how come no one has ever reply? guys? help?!
P.S: i dont think that it'll be possible.... Because our 2012 rMBP, use SATA and 2013 models use PCIe.... a whole different kind of technology...
Can anyone confirm?

  • Where is the User Guide for the MacBook Pro 13-Inch 2012?

    Hi there,
Trawling the Apple Support Manual pages (http://support.apple.com/manuals), I couldn't seem to find the correct User Guide.. even searching with my Serial Number.
I am looking for the MacBook Pro 13-inch (2012 10.8.2 Mountain Lion) User's Guide.
Searching with my Serial Number, the results are:
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) - Quick Start Guide
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) - Important Product Information Guide
Searchng manually, all i can find are:
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2010) - User Guide
MacBook (13-inch) - User Guide... which is the OS X v10.4 Tiger version
Is there not a "MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) - User Guide" ????
    Thanks,
    Chris

I have already worked out that there's no full User's Guide.
Why would a new mac User, like myself, want a Quick Start Guide (which came in the box), and then not want access to an actual full User Guide.
I have been using the other PDF's for general guidance, but I shouldn't have to make do with other guides.
Apple.... Is it too much to ask that my £1250 purchase comes with the proper documentation ?!

  • Can the Macbook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012) Hard Drive be Upgraded?

I have a Macbook Pro Retina Display Mid 2012 that has a 512GB SSD Hard Drive. I am finding that I need more space and having an External Hard Drive is a little inconvenient. I see that there are 1TB SSD and thinking of changing out my Hard Drive. Is this possible? If so, what brand of Solid State Drive should I look into. Thank you for your time.

  • Will the MacBook Pro (15-inch Glossy) (Model # MA601LL) be enough for me?

    Hello all,
I am new to this forum and to Macs in general and I have some questions regarding a refurbished MacBook Pro that I am interested in purchasing and whether or not it will be sufficient for my needs.
First, here is the link for the specs on the MBP in question:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP32?locale=en_US.
    It's a few generations old...
In addition to the stock specs, it has been upgraded with the following:
    2x1GB (SODIMM) 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM (otherwise known as PC2-5300)
    and
    a 200GB, 5400RPM SATA hardrive.
I want to be able to use Logic Pro for both at-home composition/production and live performance. What I'd really like to know is the following:
    1) How many software synth plugins will I be able to run at the same time? I realize that they vary in size/strain on resources, but on average, what can I expect?
    2) Will this setup be stable and usable in a live performance setting, using Mainstage, and switching quickly between programs which may have different plugins that need to be called up?
    3) Would an external audio interface be necessary if I am not recording audio?
    4) I am planning to use my current 88key M-Audio controller keyboard via USB to the MBP. Are there any issues with latency if I use this setup?
Any insight would be much appreciated!
    Thanks.

You can have Apple replace the logic board, but it will be at your expense.  The free replacement program has ended.
As a band aid you may try the following:

This will allow you to run on only the integrated GPU.

  • Internal HDD installation guide for MacBook Pro 13" mid-2012 model

    Hello,
Can someone please share any step by step guides or instructional videos for installing a new internal HDD in a MacBook Pro 13" mid-2012 model. Also, please advise on how to format the new HDD as it is an unformatted one.
    Thanks in advance!

To format your new HDD, connect it to your MBP and open Disk Utility>Erase.  Select Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and then clone the data from the internal HDD to the new external one.  You may use Disk Utility>Restore or use Carbon Copy Cloner (third party software) to do the cloning.  Test the new HDD via Startup manager and then perform the swap.
    Ciao.

  • Is the MacBook Pro 13 inch good enough?

Is the non retina  MacBook Pro 13 core i5 with 4g of ram good enough for nonprofessional  video editing  making apps surfing the web watching videos ? Or can I get a MacBook Air 13 inch ? is these two good  enough for what I want ? And what is the difference between them and the MacBook Pro 13 inch core i7 with 8g of ram ? Is it a big difference between them ? Which one of these three you advice me to go with ?

That will work fine. I would eventually stick 8G of RAM in it though. I have 8G in mine and have run low and started paging out already. Safari and Flash are big RAM hogs.

  • Is the macbook pro 13-inch: 2.4 GHz suitable for editing HD video?

I am a university student, and for some of my projects, I am required to edit HD video, approx around 15 minutes in length and making short films. Will the macbook pro 13-inch: 2.4 GHz be able to live up to this and handle the large video files?

I use a 13" MBP for video editing and it seems to do ok.  Rendering can take a while sometimes (sorta wish I would've gone with the 15" for the quad-core processor) but overall it's definitely very liveable.
chaznsc does raise a good point - the 13" display is a little small, especially when you're searching for keywords (FCPX) with the video preview and info screens open.  But the 15" isn't all that much bigger.  The resolution between the two isn't much different - everything is just "bigger."  You don't really get much more true real estate.
When I get sick of feeling cramped I just plug in an external monitor.  Problem solved   I get the best of both worlds this way - 13" small and compact for using on the train or a plane, and bigger monitor when I need it.

  • Can the MacBook Pro 13inch mid 2008 use 1333Mhz RAM?

Can the MacBook Pro 13inch mid 2008 use 1333Mhz RAM? I just bought another 4 GB of ram, but it isn't 1066Mhz like the other stick. Everything works and passes a memory test but the MacBook does not wake from sleep. It only does this when the new RAM is inserted. I have tried it on its own and with the old memory and it only does it with this faster memory installed. It says its at the same speed as any slower RAM installed.

So 1066Mhz is the only ram that works.? As in there isn't anything I need to change or the ram just isn't working correctly? I was always under the impression that ram always clocked it self down to the slowest module installed, which this one does, it just does let the Mac come out of sleep..
There may be some 1333MHz RAM that would work in your machine, but it's not what you bought, and the only way to find it would be to keep buying more and more modules until you found one that worked.  It is always safest to buy RAM with the right specs for your machine from a known-reliable, Mac-savvy vendor that offers a lifetime warranty and no "restocking fee" if you get a module that seems to be bad or go bad.
RAM that is faster than spec will often clock itself down, not to the speed of the slowest module installed, but to the speed the machine's architecture is designed to use. But it doesn't always work — not even when it appears at first to work. And there's never any benefit to installing faster-than-spec RAM, because it never speeds up the machine's operation at all.

  • How much ram can my MacBook Pro 15 Inch, Early 2008 2.4 Core Duo 2 Take? 3 or 4 GB?

My MacBook Pro 15 Inch is a early 2008 model.
    It is a 2.4 Core 2 Duo.
I'm confused if it can take a max of 3 or 4 GB RAM.  Right now it has 2 GB.
First question:  Can it take 3 or 4?
Second question:  Will I notice an increase in speed?
BTW - I checked the Apple document on removing/installing memory - but the matrix where my early 2008 15 inch is covered is confusing and it seems it would fall into either the 3 or 4 - depending on how your read it.

Get the free MacTracker, it will give more accurate RAM information than the manual, as the manual get printed with the current RAM being sold, not the new stuff, so your Mac could possibly hold more.
Yes your computer will be faster at some things with more RAM, but like a car, many parts also have to be fast, the CPU, the GPU, the hard drive speed, bus speed etc.
Some things you can change, other things you can't and sometimes you need to backup your files and wipe the disk and reinstall everything all over again.
Sometimes it's a slow Internet, or slow wifi network or something running on your machine.
Host of issues cause slowdowns, this might be one of them

  • Bluetooth of the Macbook Pro 13 "(mid 2012) with poor signal and constant interruptions

I have a macbook pro 13" mid 2012, no retina display, with OS X 10.9.2 (Mavericks), and your bluetooth device it loses the signal when placing a barrier on the right side of the mac, the output of the optical drive (CD / DVD).
The signal is severely reduced. Just hold the Mac 's right, put my hand in front of the optical drive or turn the machine a little longer and the interference occurs.
I have a set of boxes bluetooth Sony sound and audio is constantly interrupted. I just put my hand in front of the optical drive, at a distance of about 30 centimeters (11.81 inches), and the bluetooth signal (RSSI) fell from -54dbm to -83dbm. The connection was lost completely.
Then I turned the right side of the Mac otherwise the speakers meaning and dropped signal of -54dbm to -75dBm. In this test there were no barriers in front of the optical drive. The audio suffered severe interference. The sound was inaudible.
I did other tests. The same loss occurs with the magic mouse and Apple keyboard bluetooh. Tests done in multiple locations without other nearby connections. Not occurring interference from other devices.
This is a feature of the bluetooth device mac or my computer has a hardware problem?
I thank anyone who can help me.
P.S.: Forgive me for my bad english. I used the Google translator.
