Can the new finger print identification recognize 2 different usres finger print so we can share the same device.

Can the new feature of finger print allow 2 different users shareing the same device have 2 different finger prints?

Dave,
Touch ID will accommodate up to five finger prints...it makes no judgement on which five fingers are registered.

    Hi,
    PSC 1315 no longer supported for scanning since Mac OS X v10.5 or while using any newer OS, there is no scan software provided by either HP or Apple (Image Capture)
    You may find this information stated below for Leopard, the same apply for any newer OS version:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01234231&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en &os=219&product=374568&sw_lang=
    Image capture will not recognize your device as well, only print is supported as you may find listed for teh PSC 1310 Series below:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669#HP
    Although there is no official scanning support for your device you may still try the 3rd party VueScan software which list your scanner as supported and compatible with Mountain Lion:

    Can I authorize mulitple apple ids on the same device so that what is purchased on either account will be loaded in both devices without having to use the same ID?
    My wife has a laptop and an iphone 4s, I have a laptop and and iphone 4s, our two sons have our old iphone 3s, we have an old laptop for our sons to use.  Our old iphones for our sons are deactivated as phones - so they are used as i-touches for songs, pictures and aps.  I want to use icloud (which I'm new to) to hopefully have all four iphones and all three computers stay synced with at least music - if not aps and pictures.  My wife has an apple ID and I have one.  I'd like to authorize all three laptops for both apple IDs so that we will still have our own accounts, but everything either of us buys will be automatically loaded into all three laptops and all four iphones.  Can this be done?
    Thanks,

    Each person in your home can have their own Apple ID provided it is tied the their own separate email address.
    iTunes permits up to five authorized computers connected to a single Apple ID: iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.
    For this all to work well, however, each user in your household should have a separate user account on the computer they commonly use.

  • Can have two iCloud different account in the same device?

    Can I have a two different iCloud account in the same device?

    Sorry, not Documents. I quote:
    'iCloud Bookmarks, Photo Stream, Documents in the Cloud, Backup (iOS), Back to My Mac (OS X), and Find My iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac can only be used with one iCloud account at a time (the "primary" account).'
    The only thing you can do would be to create a second user account on your Mac and create a new iCloud primary account on that. Fast user switching would allow you to have both user accounts running at the same time and switch between them very quickly, but uploading documents created in one account into the other is more complicated - you would have to save a copy into the Shared folder in Users so that it was accessble by the other account.

    I have the same problem (deleted email account). I think I mistakenly set up an account when I was buying an Apple product online, not realizing that it would be the same ID as my iTunes.
    What is the way to actually contact Apple?
    I have been clicking around in circles for hours! Will I have to pay them to resolve this? I don't have any products still have applecare . . .

    If I already have a particular app under one apple Id and I purchase the same app under a different Id for the same device, will it overwrite or replace the previous or will I have two of the same app on the same device??
    I'm asking because I purchased an app with an id that has been cancelled so I cannot update that particular app. I can purchase the app with my new id but I don't want to do so if its going to erase all the data I have with the previous purchase...

    Figured it out. Thanks.

  • Multiple profiles/users on the same device

    Hi there,
    I know that iOS is a single user environment.
    But, I am currently working in an enterprise environment and I was wondering if it was possible to have several profiles on the same device, maybe using certificates or so?
    Thanks for your help
    Cheers,
    Pierre.

    It would seem that unlike previous iOS devices the iPad and possibly AppleTV call for the ability to enable multiple profiles/users on the same device.
    I would suggest that if this capability is not on the roadmap for iOS by now then there is a least one place where alternatives to the iPad will have a major advantage.
    The thought they I would have to buy multiple iPads one for myself, my wife and my child because of a software constraint is untenable from a ecological standpoint (all these devices end up as landfill) let alone the economic one.
    Also as I use the iPad I see it's potential to become as important computing platform to me as my laptop eventually surpassing it. In this light I can't see how it could remain just a personal device.

  • Multiple users on the same device

    Can I have 2 or more users on the same device? I want to use a Kindle Fire HD when traveling with separate accounts for my wife and myself.

    You can; you just have to disable automatically signing one of you in (unless you want to constantly log the other one out)

  • Is it problematic to use Microphone.getEnhancedMicrophone() more than once on the same device?

    Here's an interesting little experiment:
         Alert.show((Microphone.getEnhancedMicrophone() == Microphone.getEnhancedMicrophone()).toString());
         Alert.show((Microphone.getMicrophone() == Microphone.getMicrophone()).toString());
    They both show "false", even though the calls to getMicrophone() and getEnhancedMicrophone() always point to the same device.
    I'm making an R&D app right now, and this is a potential problem for me.  I've designed the app around it being able to refresh the list of available mics, and for the user to be able to go back and forth between different mics and be able to hear themselves, among other things.
    If they turn on loop back for a mic, then re-select the same mic, it'll create a different object for that same exact device, and after turning off loop back for the previous instance (and removing all references to that instance), it'll turn on loop back for the new instance.  The problem?  It's hard to tell for sure, but there appears to possibly be some sort of issue with the Flash Player taking a minute to garbage collect the old instance, and during that time, the Flash Player trying to read audio out of that device and loop it back twice, as opposed to once.
    It's hard to tell whether this is really happening, or whether the distortion I'm hearing is purely two-second transition from one instance to the other, but there are also questions in my mind about the viability of just trying to track each individual device in a Dictionary; if multiple devices have the same name and keep getting pulled out of one port and plugged into another, there seem to be problems in being able to keep track of indivdual devices very well in that case.
    So is this a really big issue for an app that's designed to let people keep switching mics back and forth, as well as letting them refresh the list of available mics over and over?  Or as long as setLoopBack(false); and setSilenceLevel(100); are called on every instance before its references are removed, will there not be any sort of disturbance in future instances' audio (or any other issue, aside from late GC)?  Thanks!

    You're creating a reference. The constructor that runs factorizes some other classes into your object such as flash.media.SoundTransform. Due to instantiating a "new" SoundTransform, it differs from the other mic references SoundTransform. Thus the object is not identical. The debug panel shows you easier:
    If you really just want to see if it's attached to the same device, simply compare the index value.
    if (mic1.index == mic2.index) {
         // same audio recording device

  • Multi-VRF on the same device

    Hi, I have a certain design that I am thinking of implementing however need some help to understand the feasability as well as confirm if it is indeed possible to do it. It is sort of like configuring multi-vrf on the same device and leak routes from them into a global routing table. It seems impractical to do it however if I want to limit connectivity between various vlan's on a L3 level without ACL's this seems the better option. Please do correct me if that is not so.
    Design
    A device which has a number of vlan interfaces on the north side let's say a 6500 configured with a number of vlan's. Each vlan has its own vrf. The SVI interfaces are where I apply the ip vrf forwarding XXX command. This device will be like the PE I assume?
    Now I might be running various routing protocols (EIGRP, RIP, Static, BGP) within these vrf's with the devices on the other end that have no idea about vrf's. Since I have a number of routes I have learnt within their own vrf's I want to either export all these routes into the global table or create a global vrf where I can export all these routes.
    The reason being that I want to propogate all these routes to the south side. The south side interface of this PE 6500 is physically connected to a firewall via a L3 point-to-point interface. That firewall's south interface in turns connects to another switch.
    I am going to form a BGP session with between the Top PE 6500 Switch and the bottom switch and I would like to propogate all the routes that I have in their own individual vrf's on the Top 6500 PE switch to the bottom switch via BGP.
    I don't think I can run MP-BGP due to the firewalls being in the physical path. Besides I would like to run a normal BGP IPv4 session between the top and bottom switch to keep it simple and familiar.
    The reason I would like to have every vlan in its own vrf is to limit connectivity between the vlan's without configuring ACL's. It provides a bit more security between the VLAN's.
    What I am not sure about is how the packet forwarding would work or if it would work at all.
    Thx for your help.

    Hi Vikram,
    Firstly, you mentioned that the reason for going down this path is for security between the different VLANs. Have you looked at Private VLANs as another option?
    Certainly leaking routes between different VRFs can be achieved and I would recommend having a 'Shared VRF' that you leak in and out of. Having the Firewall between the PE nodes does present an issue both for BGP as well as LDP peering if you wanted to establish a MP-BGP session. From what you have mentioned above, this solution might over-complicate what you are trying to do.
    Are the network ranges in each VLAN also unique?
    Can the Firewall run IGP? If so, maybe you could run Private VLANs and the use an IGP to propogate the networks through the FW across to your other switch? If you were to establish a BGP session between the switches each side of the FW, the FW would also need to either become a BGP peer or have IGP enabled. Each BGP node would then need to inject the BGP routes into IGP. If this isnt done, the FW will drop traffic as there would not be a suitable route.
    Are the resources through the FW shared or are they also client connected networks?

    Can you have more than one backup from the same device in iCloud like you can do in iTunes on the computer?

    When you choose Restore from iCloud Backup from the setup assistant and follow the prompts, you are asked to select the backup you want to restore from.  At that point you will see any older backups that are available to restore from, like the image below.

    After reformatting my 1 Tb WD ext drive and tinkering with the "exclude these items" list, I now get the following error message from Time Machine: "Are you sure you want to back up to the same device your original data is on?"  I've reformatted in Disk Utilities...not sure what I did wrong.  Any help would be appreciated.

    Not sure what you mean by "booted" from it.
    If the Mac OS is installed on the external drive, then it's possible to start up from it, just as you do from your internal drive. Please open the Startup Disk preference pane in System Preferences, and verify that your internal drive is selected as the startup disk.
    Assuming that's the case, then it may be that your TM settings have been corrupted. Turn off TM, then move or delete the file /Library/Preferences/com.apple.TimeMachine.plist. Turn TM back on, recreate your settings, and try again.
