Can the new verizon iPhone 5s talk and surf

Can the new verizon iPhone 5s talk and surf

I don't think so, because it's a Verizon thing.
But one can only hope.

  • Will the new Verizon iPhone 6  let us talk and surf?

CDMA is an outdated technology that cannot support talk-and-surf on IOs devices/Apple iPhone. When will Verizon support voice and data on LTE?  This is a royal PIA!  I can't do my meetings with my iPhone5. Is Verizon management taking a note or are they waiting and willing to loose customers (Think about IBM's fate in the technology industry)
Please don't deflect the issue to Apple ... they shouldn't have to add an additional antenna for Verizon and Sprint.

Verizon will not be fully VoLTE for another couple of years. Until then Apple has to make their own decisions on what their devices support or don't support.
I never said Apple has to add another radio. Truthfully that's what I understand what it would take for the iPhone to talk and surf on the VZW network. If the Android, Windows Phone and Blackberry device manufacturers chose to include the necessary hardware, I have a really hard time understand why Apple chooses to exclude it.

  • Will the iphone5s on sprint support talk and surf?

will the iphone5s on sprint support talk and surf?

You can find the answer here:

  • Will the new Verizon  iPhone 5s  let us talk and surf ?

Will the new iphone 5s for Verizon and other NON AT&T carriers announced today finally let us talk and surf the internet at the same time when we are NOT on wifi?

It's actually a combination of the two. Verizon's network currently carries voice on CDMA and data on LTE (when available). CDMA cannot do voice and data simultaneously. That's the Verizon (and Sprint) part of the limitation. The chip used in most of the 4G LTE Android phones Verizon sells can use CDMA and LTE simultaneously, thus giving you voice and data at the same time as long as you're in an LTE coverage area. If there is no LTE, you can't do both at the same time. iPhones use a chip that, as I understand it, can do either CDMA or LTE but not both at once. That's the Apple (well, Qualcomm) limitation. I haven't delved deeply enough into today's news to determine if Apple has changed chipsets for the new phones.
Eventually, Verizon plans to do voice over LTE but I haven't heard much about it lately.
    Best of luck.

  • Can i use the new 3g iphone in Japan and the US and switch between simcards

I subscribe to both softbank in japan and at&t in the states (both sole distributors of the new phone)
was wondering if i could just buy the NEW 3g iphone and switch my sim-card in and out when i go between japan and the states??

Unfortunately the answer is definitely no. I live in Japan but travel to the US frequently so I have an AT&T US iPhone account and a Softbank iPhone 3G account.
The best you are going to get is at least the ability to roam in either country effortlessly with 3G, which of course is silly due to the ridiculous roaming fees.
But, I am pretty sure this will be such a wide spread agitation that it will be hacked away into oblivion much to the chagrin of the carriers.

  • IPhone 5 - "Talk and Surf Simultaneously"?

Will the Verizon iPhone 5 support this feature?  Or is it still only AT&T?

This article you cite specifically states that it won't, but I think it is incorrect.
    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10000872396390443696604577647921448070082.html
    WSJ Article:
Can I talk and surf at the same time?
On 3G networks, the CDMA wireless technology used by Verizon and Sprint didn't allow users to browse the Web while carrying phone conversations. But the GSM technology used by AT&T on its 3G network does. That advantage for AT&T may carry over into LTE, at least with the iPhone. Its network will still allow users to do both, while those from Verizon and Sprint won't.

  • Can the new nano iPod run podcasts and audiobooks

I would like to buy the new iPod Nano if I can also listen to podcasts and audiobooks.  Can it do that?

Just a quick note in addition to toyo8696's--when I sync mine, there is a Books tab that has all of my audiobooks listed so I can pick what I'd like, just as with an iPod Touch or iPhone. So I think you should be able to listen to any audiobook you'd like.
It's a pretty neat little device!! You can also listen to the radio, which is awesome.

  • Apps and Videos won't sync with new Verizon iPhone

I have set up the new Verizon iPhone and synced it with iTunes. The music comes over to the phone no problem, but when I try and sync the Apps that were either purchased or free for our iPad or iPods won't come over to the phone. The error message is that the account is not authorized to sync. So I go and authorize the account on the computer, and it says it is already authorized, yet the sync of apps and videos will not occur.
    Thoughts?

I don't think you can drag anything onto an iphone.
You have to goto the tab in itunes and select which video you want to sync.

  • Old iPhone (2007) to new Verizon iPhone

I've had the original ATT iPhone since it first came out. Looking forward to moving to the new Verizon iPhone as soon as it arrives. I don't have a lot of apps installed on my current phone, but have all the contacts, etc. that I care about local to this current phone. What I was hoping I could request from you guys was some sort of outline/task list of things I can do, or should do, to make bringing up the new phone as easy as possible. What I'd like to do is move over my contacts, including associated pics if possible, pictures, and apps. I try to keep my google online account's contacts as clean and up to date as possible, but my phone is more clean...just wish I could sync my phone's info overtop of my google online info, but I'm not aware of a way.
    So:
Can I push my phone's contact info over to Google? I'm only aware of Google to the phone. If I can push all my contact to google, then I guess I could make use of Google Sync, which I could then install on the new phone and sync google to my phone. Thoughts on this from those that have used Google Sync, or something similar.
Can I use a recent backup of my current phone stored in iTunes to "install" my new phone? And if so, how would you recommend? If I do this, do I risk the chance of bringing over something, such as an app, from my old phone to the new that should be simply re-installed to take advantage of the new phones architecture, etc.?
Having ask all of this, should I simply install my new phone manually so I make sure all apps, contacts, etc. are done correctly?
I know that's alot. If you guys can help, I'd greatly appreciate it. If there's a KB article out there, or other threads that would offer the same info, I'd appreciate the links...I looked for such but failed to find all that I was interested in.
Thanks for the help and time,
    JRK

    You're welcome.
Can I "push" my iPhone's contacts to my iMac's Address Book, or will asking iTunes to sync with my iMac's Address Book, and the fact that I don't have any contacts in my iMac's Address Book, wipe out my contacts on my iPhone?
Before syncing contacts with an empty Address Book, enter one contact in the Address Book on your Mac. This will provide a merge prompt with the first sync for this data, which you want to select.
Likewise, will syncing my iMac Address Book with Google push my iMac's Contact list to Google, or will Google push over my new iMac's Address Book?
After getting your iPhone contacts available in the Address Book on your Mac, when syncing the contacts with the Address Book on your Mac and with your Google online address book, the contacts between the two should be synced or merged. This is selected at Address Book > Preferences under the Accounts tab.
To be on the safe side before doing this, create a backup for your Address Book contacts on your Mac. At the Address Book menu bar go to File > Export and select Address Book Archive. Save the export to wherever you want on your Mac's hard drive in case you need this later to restore your Address Book contacts.
Google should provide an export option for your Google online address book which you can save to your Mac as a backup for your Google online address book before syncing contacts with the Address Book on your Mac.

  • ? New Verizon iPhone Better or Just Better Network?

OK, so I have been waiting almost 4 years to get an iPhone, staying with Verizon all this time. I threw away a perfectly good Motorola Razor, or whatever it is called, cell phone on Monday. Within my limited reception area I now have much better reception at all locations inside my house (previously marginal or zero in some rooms).
So, is the new Verizon iPhone 4 somehow better than other phones or what? When it came out on the ATT network there were instantly many threads complaining about numerous issues. This is not the case right now. Should I be real happy that I now have a superior product on a superior network?
    aehaas

Yep, go pop the cork from the champagne, pat yourself on the back and enjoy your iPhone.

  • Give it to me straight -- Can the new Quad Core iMac run Maya well?

Hey all, I've been hunting around the interwebs for reviews of the new 27 inch quad core machine and I'm having a heck of a time tracking down specifics regarding iMacs and their ability to run Maya, After Effects, other adobe programs, etc.
I'm a student right now, going on four years. I own a small graphic design/animation business and I'm afraid my poor little Macbook Pro is going to keel over on me any day now. I've noticed a drop in performance in the last six months, especially with Maya and After Effects. So I've been evaluating options, and I know it has to run OSX. Windows has only given me headaches in regards to Maya work. In short, it's gonna be a Mac.
I've priced out a Mac Pro, and I'd rather not spend 3 grand on a machine that doesn't have a monitor, and may have properties that I'm paying for that I don't necessarily need: monstrous expandability, server capabilities, a big-stinking CPU footprint. But the mantra I always hear is "Only pro models can run Maya". So I reluctantly began putting away money for a new Mac Pro, uncertain if I'd be able to afford the software to go with it. Then I read this article:
    http://gizmodo.com/5411073/why-its-gotten-straight-stupid-to-buy-a-mac-pro
In my mind, this article couldn't be more perfect for my position. It's telling me, "These high end iMacs are almost as powerful as the Mac Pro you can't afford. You can save a thousand bucks off the base computer. It comes with a monitor that you don't have to pay for. " But unfortunately the one question I need answered, that I'm having a heckuva time tracking down is "Can the stinking thing run Maya or can't it?" And if it can, will it be crippled?
So, please, anyone out there, can the new monster iMac run Maya, and if it can, does it suck at it?

No, there's no way to talk to Apple technical support via email, and they probably could not or would not be able to answer any questions about performance with third-party products. I doubt that more than a handful of Apple employees, sales rep or tech, would have access to any benchmark data on Maya with any model of Mac, and those Apple people would probably be those working with the Pro VAR channel or directly with large production companies.
I just got off the phone with an Apple sales associate who emphatically confirmed that the i7 iMac can run "all that Adobe stuff", but she'd never heard of Maya.... fun....
Not terribly surprising; Maya is pretty specialized and the Apple Store phone reps are generalists working mostly with consumers. Most people running Maya would be working with an Apple VAR or would otherwise have access to specialists. You might try talking to an Apple Pro Video/Film VAR - there are a number around the country though none in Salt Lake, apparently - or asking in the Autodesk forums:
    http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-maya/
If you search for "iMac", you'll find some comments, though none I can find yet regarding performance with the new iMac models. But if you post asking if anyone has experience with Maya on the i7, you might get useful responses.
    Regards.
    P.S.
And on top of that I can't buy a 27 inch display separately
Well, you can, and they're not terribly expensive; under $400.00. But that might be more than your budget could accept, which may be what you meant. I'd elect a smaller primary monitor and go with two displays in any case, even with an iMac. I find it much better for workflow to have a monitor for the primary canvas and a separate one for tool palettes, etc.

  • I backed up my Iphone to itunes so i can do the new Update to IOs 7 and so now that i updated it i want to backup and restore and its not working, Please help!

I backed up my Iphone to itunes so i can do the new Update to IOs 7 and so now that i updated it i want to backup and restore and its not working, Please help!

An iPhone backup to a computer via iTunes stores the photos in a backup file that is only meant to be be used if needed to restore back to the phone. There is 3rd party "extractor" software available but otherwise the photos are not directly viewable.
The backup via iTunes was a good idea and your Camera Roll photos should be there and should be able to be restored to your new phone. However if it was me I wouldn't rely on that alone. I would also import the photos to a computer where you can see and verify that you have a copy. That is a good idea at any time (not just when you know you might need it). Any phone can be lost, broken, suffer hardware issues, etc at any time and lose all data on it. Following is a link with information on how to import the photos to a computer:  Import photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your Mac or Windows PC - Apple Support

Hi! I'm from Russia and i want to buy the new unlocked iPhone 4S in the U.S. in November, but i need to know, am i need this doc's?
    What to Bring with You
Your old mobile phone, if you’re replacing it.
Social Security number of the account holder.
    Valid government-issued photo ID.
Carrier account password, if you have one.
    Your Apple ID and password.

According to Apple's list (link above) you will probably want to pick up a Sprint or US Cellular model. HOWEVER, as I mentioned above I know that the Verizon iPhones come unlocked from the factory (assuming it will be the same for iPhone 6 and 6+). I DO NOT KNOW if the Sprint and US Cellular models come unlocked. But I am sure some quick internet research will lead you to the answer.
I think your goal would be to get a Sprint or US Cellular version. Also I believe a law was just recently passed that allows someone to have a phone unlocked by the carrier no questions asked. So even if the Sprint and US Cellular iPhones are locked you can have them unlocked.

can I transfer my voicemails from old att iphone to new verizon iphone?

Syncing won't transfer the photos.  If you want to transfer you camera roll photos, as well as your other data and settings, see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2109.  If you only are concerned with photos, import them from your old phone to your computer as shown here:http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083, then put them in a folder and select to sync this folder to your new phone on the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings and sycing your new phone.
