Can the portal run Flash?

Using Weblogic Workshop 8.1 SP2.
Can a portlet be configured to run Flash? Any restrictions or limitations? Any documentation that describes this? Any tutorials?

it's the same as any old jsp/html. just add it to the the jsp the same way you would anywhere else. i'm effectively running open laszlo flash in my portal without problems.

Instead of passing lang using URL parameter, why dont u give an option to end user to choose login lang
Set logon.locale parameter in UME service... U have to use configtoo..
go to GLOBAL server configurations ... access UME service .. change this parameter to TRUE ...
Now portal login page will give u a dropdown to choose login language..

BOBJ 4.1 SP2 Launchpad does not show 'Home' tab in the portal running in IE10

We have installed BOBJ 4.1 SP2 and running SAP portal on IE (Internet Explorer) 10.
When we open the launchpad in the portal, it does not open the "Home" tab and instead just shows the menu bar in the 'Documents Tab'.
This works perfectly fine in IE 9.
But when I open the Launch Pad separately in IE 10, I see the Home tab with no issues.
Has Anyone seen this behavior and if so what is the resolution.

Can the Portal Activity Report show unique users per page?

Hello all
I guess this is a rather simple question, but can someone tell me if the portal activity report can show a count of unique users per page per week for instance?
Or will it just show which users have visited the page in a list without aggregating them to a number? And if the users are aggregated to a number, is it only uniwue users that are counted for the given period?

Can the W520 Run the Occasional Game?

Hello Everybody,
One thing that I have been wondering about a workstation laptop such as the W520 is whether it can run a game such as Minecraft smoothly.
Don't get me wrong, I realize that the W520 is not a gaming machine, but since it has such high hardware specifications, I would assume that it would be able to handle the occasional game such as Minecraft. A $600 laptop can run it moderately well. I mainly use Adobe Premiere and Adobe Photoshop but I like to have fun every once in a while.
Some places say that a game such as Minecraft runs okay on the W520 while others say that it's terrible. I feel that the variations are due to different steps taken.
Minecraft is a Java program, and my 5 year old desktop runs it flawlessly on a 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo with a NVIDIA 9500 GT.
What's your take? Can the 2000M handle it? Or should I not expect to run something like this well?

Can Adobe Connect run Flash Catalyst documents?

I want to create a prize catalog tool that employees can browse within Adobe Connect while attending an event meeting. I created a test document with Flash Catalyst just to make sure I could upload to Connect, and it's a good thing i did. When I uploaded the .zip file to my content library inside Central Login, I could click on the content link and it opened in its own window and worked beautifully. However, when I tried to navagate to that file from inside a share pod, it didn't come up on the list of supported documents, and it wouldn't let me load the zip file directly into the share pod from my computer, either. I noticed that the base file for Catalyst creations is main.swf. Connect accepts SWFs and flash files that contain SWFs, but they must also have an index.swf file, and the files that Catalyst generates don't include one. Is there a way to change that, or anything else I could do so that I can use Catalyst to create my app for inside Adobe Connect?

Well, Connect 8 supports files from Flash Professional and from Adobe Flex. I've not seen any integration with Flash Catalyst. Adobe Connect came from the Macromedia acquisition and so is a Flash app running on top of the Flash Player but we recommend using Adobe Presenter and Flash Professional or Adobe Captivate or Adobe Flex as tools to create content. If I see any mention of Catalyst I'll post but to date I've not seen where we support it.

Can the "currently running app" bar affect iPad functionning?

A few weeks ago, i went to use my iPad and the screen was half black, half grey with a white line scrolling across it. Nothing was responding, even the power off button. I plugged it on to my pc and was able to sync it and I planned on taking it to the apple store to get a new one. However, the next day, the screen was perfectly fine and everything was working. I decided to wait and everything worked until a couple of weeks later when the same thing happened again only for a few hours. I took it to the apple store and the guy double clicked the home button and found about 40-50 apps in that "currently open" bar at the bottom. He said this was using up too much memory and that I needed to clear all apps on this bar every few days and this is what was making my screen go blank. Does this make any sense? I haven't had more problems in the last 3 weeks but I am wondering if he was correct or if something else is wrong and it will happen again.

You could certainly have had too many things open/running at the same time. It's a good idea to routinely close apps you aren't using. Particularly apps that can continue running in the background, such as Pandora or iPod.......

Can the IPad run Oracle's Virtual Box?

There is a programme from my old Windows set up that I can't get for my iMac, so I run Oracle's Virtual Box that allows for a Windows environment to run on my Mac. So, I'm interested in whether an iPad can do the same thing. Can anyone help, please?

You cannot run the virtual machine directly on the iPad but you should be able to connect to the desktop of a virtual machine using one of the remote desktop connection apps.

Can the AP1310 running on IOS 12.3 supporting on LDAP

My WLAN topology is like this: one WLSE for centralized management, LDAP server for authentication purpose, plus aironet AP1310.
I would like to ask either the AP1310 able to support the user authentication on LDAP server.
If yes, can please suggest what need to configure over the AP and the WLSE.

No. You can configure local authentication on the 1300's, which will allow an AP to act as its own RADIUS server, but it will only authenticate against local user accounts on the AP, not an external LDAP server.
If you were running lightweight mode, the controllers can do "Local EAP" and authenticate to an LDAP, but that's not an option for IOS/autonomous APs.
If you must authenticate against the LDAP with your current deployment, your best option will be to set up a RADIUS server- ACS, IAS, FreeRadius, etc.
Note that there are issues that may come into play when attempting to authenticate using PEAP/MSCHAPv2 against an LDAP directory, so be careful if you're using 802.1X that your inner authentication method is compatible with the directory you're using.

 Following is the steps for debugging the portal application.
Steps for Debugging
1. Stop the Portal Server if Running.

2. Launch the Config tool of J2EE Engine & Set Up the debugging of the current instance.
 The Config tool is located in the directory ,
<J2EE-Install-Dir>\JC00\j2ee\configtool\configtool.bat
 Switch to the current instance & go to the debug tab.
 Set Enable Debug Mode checked, start the VM of J2EE in debug mode.
 Set a valid debug port, default port is 50021.
 Save the settings and restart the J2EE Engine.
3. Restart the Portal Server.
4. Open SAP Netweaver Developer Studio. Go to Window --- > Open Perspective --- > Enterprise Portal & also open the Debug perspective.
 This enables you to develop & deploy EP Components to your development Portal.
5. Configure Development Environment for Debugging.
 Create new Remote Java Application debug settings.
 Pressing the debug button attaches the SAP Netweaver Developer Studio to the Specified portal installation.
 Go to Debug --- > Remote Java Application & create a new setting for your current Portal Application Project.
 Insert the portals DNS or IP Address and the debug port specified in the Config tool, default port is 50021.
 If the portal runs on the local machine you can enter localhost instead of IP address or DNS name.
 Make sure that your Portal Application is already deployed in the portal.
6. If the connection is attached to the J2EE engines VM session, the SAP Netweaver Studio is ready to debug.
BREAKPOINTS
A Breakpoint causes the execution of a program thread to suspend at the location here the breakpoint is set.
7. Set a breakpoint in your custom coding. The debugger will stop if the VM reaches this marked code line.
To enable the breakpoint,
 Locate the breakpoint in the marker bar of an editor.
 Open the breakpoints context menu & select Enable Breakpoint.
 The breakpoint image will change back to a blue circle.
VARIABLE VIEW
The variables view contains information about the variables in the currently-selected stack frame.
8. To Launch the Variables View :,
Choose Window -- > Show View -- > Other -- > Select Debug -- > Variables View.
9. Force the Portal to execute your deployed coding. The VM stops at the specified break point.
10. The current values of the member variables can be tracked in the Variables window of SAP Netweaver Developer Studio.

Can you reinstall just the portal packages?

We have a client who for some reason has lost their portal30.home procedure.
The question is, can the portal packages and procedures be re-installed w/o affecting their existing portal data and applications?
The pobhome.sql file appears to be the script that creates this procedure. Is it a simple matter of rerunning thsi script?

What are you planning to put on there that you would want to lock behind a code? =P

Authentication in an application placed in an URL iview in the portal

Hi all gurus!
I have a delicate problem: we have an application that we have deployed on the same WAS as the portal runs on and that application is presented through an URL iview in the portal.
We want to use the LogonTicket created by the portal for authentication in the application and a colleague of mine put a "*" (asterisk) for requested roles in the web xml file. The problem is that the users had to be administrators in the portal in order for it to work and that is not very suitable. If you removed the admin role from the users the authentication stopped to work.
Does anyone have a step by step guide on which files to configure and how to do it properly? I have googled the problem and also searched the forum but I haven't found any solutions. My colleague followed this description and that didn't help:

Thanks for the links. I followed them but I can see that SAP either are general in their instructions or, if specific, talking about Visual Admin, in any case they couldn't give a complete assistance.
Never the less I have managed to come a bit further by creating a UME role from within Identity Management in the portal and adding the application of interest to the role under the tab "Assigned Actions".
So now I'm also logged into the application when I logg on to the portal, I can see that in the portal logs. But, when I'm going to take the last step which invokes the call of a service I get a new error.

How to Install and integrate the Portal with a external DIT

We have an existing enterprise directory with more than 1000 users.
The existing system runs on Portal 3.x and has a profile directory for the portal system and the enterprise directory is used for Authentication.
We are migrating the Portal to 6.x and the requirement is to have a single directory server for all the applications ( portal ,messaging and calendar).
The problem is the enterprise directory also manages other applications and has a entirely different DIT to that of portal .
Can the Portal , Messaging and Calendar point to a different DIT ..
Just a small example for the problem we face here.
The actual portal install has a

ou=services o=<company> ou=DSAME
 etc.
But the existing Production system has the following DIT
<base-dn>
 |
c=country
 |
ou=organization
 |____________________________________
 | | |
ou=apps o=customers etcSo they want the Portal ,messaging and the calendar applications to have their attributes under the " ou=apps" branch .
Is this possible ,.if not why and any other possible alternative solutions are also appreciated .

You can share the DIT.
It will however be a tricky config with the default tools.
When you add a user with the portal gui you will miss some classes needed for mail and calendar. If you add the user in the mail console you will miss some classes for the portal.
You have to use a tool that adds all the required stuff for the user in ldap if the user shall be able to use the portal, the calendar and the mailsystem. But of course... you have the ldap console...
