  • Can't connect to the internet on a wireless system at school, but fine when I'm at home.

Can't connect to the internet on a wireless system at school, but fine when I'm at home. All semester, there was no problem getting on the wireless system at school.  I had a problem, put in my school log-in and password and saved it in keychain.  Since, that time I have been unable to connect to the wireless system at school.  I delete this action out of "Keychain" and went to "Preferences" and deleted the "Keychain" action, but today at school I couldn't log in.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  MacBook; OS 10.5.8

I think your best bet is to go to technical support at your school (hopefully you have one) and they will help you out. The only reason I can come up with as to why you are not getting wireless access is that your settings are wrong (need to turn airport on) or your computer is not registered into the university.
    Good luck.

  • HT1338 can the ram on a powerbook g4 be increased?

can the ram on a powerbook g4 be increased?

Turn off the powerbook, flip it over and on the bottom there will be two rectangles. the one with the screws is for RAM. unscrew the four screws, remove the panel, and there will be a circuit there. on either side will be two metal flaps, push both towards outer edges and the circuit will pop up. remove that and there may or may not be another underneath. from there you can add or take away ram from your powerbook

  • What's the range of airport extreme can the signal reach my basement my house is about 2500 sq ft

Whats the range on the airport extreme is the signal strong enough to reach the basement of a 2500 sq ft home.  Thx

The maximum free-space range is 150 feet; slightly more in the 5 GHz band. However, walls, floors, other electronic devices, microwave ovens, etc. will attenuate the signal reducing the range for actual use.
I live in a 2300 SF townhome and wireless works fine from an AEBS on the second floor. I use an Airport Express on the first floor in Extend mode that is configured for my Slingplayer. Apple TV2 does not seem to have any problems. It's also on the bottom floor.
This is a six year old home so the walls are not made of plaster. Plaster on metal lath can prevent AEBS signals from being detected outside of the room where it's located.

    Hi karthikeya,
Here is the link which gives us the info regarding the available MIB for the respective Model..

  • Can the 1841 router boot from system image from usbdisk?

I have a cisco1841 router with 32M CF card installed.
Now , i want boot a system image larger 32M from usbdisk.
First  i insert the 128M usb flash disk to the 1841 router and format it, then i can see the device from dir command.
Second copy the larger ios image from tftp to the usb disk and successed,i can see the image with " dir usbflash0:" command.
Third  i use this command "boot system " ,but there is no selection of  "usbflash0: "
Does someone tell me that can the cisco 1841 router  boot the system image from usb disk when reboot the router.
by the way the  System Bootstrap, Version 12.4(13r)T

I have test that , the 1841 router can boot from usb disk。
but there is a problem that when the router reload.

  • Can the Airport Express connect wirelessly to a current modem and be the wireless connection for an external??

I'm confused, I purchased the Airport Express and GDrive external hard drive at the Apple store. I already own a wireless modem that works fine (AT&T).  I want to extend the wireless signal to the downstairs where the office is and keep the Airport Express in the office (connected wirelessly to the modem upstairs) plugged into the new GDrive to make that wireless. I want the G Drive in the safe location of the office and that was the sole reason I purchased the Airport Express.  Is it possible??

As I said, the USB port on the AirPort Express will not support a hard drive. It will only support compatible printers.
If you want to connect a hard drive, you will need an AirPort Extreme.....not an AirPort Express. See this Apple comparison chart to confirm.  Might be a good idea to print it out and take it to the "genius" types.
Compare Apple Wi-Fi base stations          AirPort Express    AirPort Extreme    Time Capsule
But, even if you have an AirPort Extreme the chances that it would "extend" the wireless signal from an ATT router are about zero.

You need to download and install an additional program to make the fonts bigger, it does not cost much (€9.95):

  • Can AirPort Express connect a wireless and a non-wireless at the same time

    Hello everyone,
I have both a PowerBook G4 with wireless card, and a 17 inch iMac G4. Is there a way to connect both of them to the internet using the airport express?? can the PB access via wireless and the iMac via the usb port perhaps?? right now I connect the non-wireless directly to the broadband modem using ethernet.any pointers will be really appreciated!!
    Thanks

If you have a single Airport Express then the answer is no.
The USB port is for printing only.

  • Can the airport express range be limited

I am getting ready to go off to college, and I know I'm going to get a power book. I want to get an airport express to use in my dorm because the school doesn't have wireless internet. However, wireless routers are not allowed on campus because of security issues. I know about mac filtering, and I'm definitely going to use it. What I really want to know is, can the signal strength of an airport express base station be turned down so the signal won't reach too far past my dorm room. I know most people are trying to extend the range, but I need exactly the opposite. thanks-james

You can lower the transmitter power of the AirPort Extreme and Express base stations, which effectively lowers the range. The following article tells you how:

  • Airtunes intermittently drops the signal from iTunes

My Airtunes intermittently drops the signal from iTunes and I can't figure out why. It happens is I am playing internet radio or from iTunes collection. Sometimes it will play for hours without issue, then it may drop the signal for a few seconds and pick it up again. Every once in awhile, it might do it every 5-10 minutes of so.
    Some quick facts:
    * Mac mini G4 with 512k of ram. Running Leopard 10.5.8 and it has Airport.
    * iTunes 9.01
    * The N version of AEX. I believe all the firmware is up to date. (I ran check for software updates and nothing came up).
    * Mini is located on the 2nd floor at the front of the house. AEX is located on the 1st floor at the back of the house. Distance is about 30 feet (guessing). Also, I live in an interior townhouse.
    * This problem started when I switch from Comcast to Verizon FIOS. The Comcast setup had cable coming into the basement where I had a wireless Linksys router. The Mini would pick up the signal from it wirelessly. Everything seemed to work fine with the AEX (same location on the 1st floor). I switched to FIOS and it goes through my ethernet port. I disconnected the Linksys router/Comcast.
    * Note, I don't think it is related to any of my appliances, etc. Not sure about the neighbors, but since I haven't has the problem before the switch to FIOS, I am thinking that would not be the case.
Thanks in advance for the help!

  • HOW DO I BOOST THE SIGNAL ON WRT54GV8?

I just read that the antennae are not removeable on the WRT54GV8.  If this is the case, how do I go about boosting the signal on this wireless router?

I read the  same thing about the ver8 router and dont know for sure if its true, if it is I would think about returning it for a router that you could add a better antenna to.

  • Can I set up a wireless network with only certain units

Just want to set up some units not all

Not exactly sure what you are asking. Do you mean can the AirPort Express provide wireless for some wireless network clients but not all of them? If so, then the answer is yes. You can use the Timed Access feature and only allow wireless clients with the proper MAC address to connect.

  • Can the mirroring feature be used instead of docking?

I am considering a Mac Book Pro for travel and using a dock and monitor for home use.  I was searching docking stations (which unfortunately there aren't any Apple ones...) but not coming up with a good solution.  Can the mirroring feature on Mtn Lion be used somehow to make this work?

I'm no authority on this subject, but I know callmanager is focusing on working in a virutalized environment in the future.
It would make sense for us to eat our own dog food wouldn't it?
Someone may have some more details and timelines, but I'm pretty sure this is well on it's way.
