Can the time out for loading a page be extended for busy sites?
(Error:)
Problem loading page
The connection has timed out
The server at xxx.xxx is taking too long to respond.
* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
Question: Is there a way to extend the time out for sites which are known to be busy?
This issue appears under two different Mozzila "Questions". Both appear to have the same OUTDATED, INEFFECTIVE ANSWERS. A lot of us are on WIN7 now and still have erratic network speeds due to cable multiplexing -- but have been trained to leave the registry alone. Has not anyone solved this problem -- other than going notoriously unreliable FIOS ??

I have moved to the country where my internet speed is slow. I am running some auto updates that keep timing out half way through. Can the time out be shut off to complete the update?

I'm not sure about that. But what you could try is to set the Update Preference to "Manual" and try updating at a time when the Network may not be as busy, like late at night or early in the morning.
Just an idea. -

OWB 10g - The time taken for data load is too high
I am loading data on the test datawarehouse server. The time taken for loading data is very high. The size of data is around 7 GB (size of flat files on the OS).
The time it takes to load the same amount of data on the production server from the staging area to the presentation area(datawarehouse) is close to 8 hours maximum.
But, in the test environment the time taken to execute one mapping (containing 300,000 records)is itself 8 hours.
The version of Oracle database on both the test and production servers is the same i.e., Oracle 9i.
The configuration of the production server is : 4 Pentium III processors (2.7 GHz each), 2 GB RAM, Windows 2000 Advanced Server, 8 kilobyte primary memory cache, 512 kilobyte secondary memory cache, 440.05 Gigabytes Usable Hard Drive Capacity, 73.06 Gigabytes Hard Drive Free Space
The configuration of the test server is : 4 Pentium III processors (2.4 GHz each), 1 GB RAM, Windows 2000 Advanced Server, 8 kilobyte primary memory cache,
512 kilobyte secondary memory cache, 144.96 Gigabytes Usable Hard Drive Capacity, 5.22 Gigabytes Hard Drive Free Space.
Can you guys please help me to detect the the possible causes of such erratic behaviour of the OWB 10g Tool.
Thanks & Best Regards,
Harshad Borgaonkar
PwCHello Harshad,
2 GB of RAM doesn't seem to be very much to me. I guess your bottleneck is I/O. You've got to investigate this (keep an eye on long running processes). You didn't say very much about your target database design. Do you have a lot of indexes on the target tables and if so have you tried to drop them before loading? Do your OWB mappings require a lot of lookups (then apropriate indexes on the lookup table are very useful)? Do you use external tables? Are you talking about loading dimension or fact tables or both? You've got to supply some more information so that we can help you better.

I have purchased apps in the past and now every time I download a new app my IPad notifies me that they cannot be purchased at the time. For example, tap tap revenge and 11 others cannot be purchased at the time. How can I get rid of it. Can anybody help?
The application iExplorer may be useful in your situation. Read these links below
I found this in another long discussion (on the ASC site) about this very same problem that you are having.

Where can I find the pin-outs for 8-pin remote Hirose connector?
Where can I find the pin-outs for 8-pin remote Hirose connector?
Pin outs and wiring info is all in the Maintenance Manuals (same for all system cameras, F series, XDCAM etc.), - ask your local Sony Office if you want the info. The 8pin remote is for connection to the Sony RM-B150/170/750 remote control panels. For system cameras the same protocol is used between RCP panels, MSU, CCUs and camera heads. It is a proprietry system so extremely difficult to hack! The RM-B170 is the ideal panel to work with the PMW-F5/55. It will give basic painting control of R/B white & black painting, Master Pedestal, and Iris with the correct lens (Cabrio etc). It can also control remote Rec stop start.Regards, Clive. Sony ANZ.

can i buy a smaller macbook air (64gb) but use the time capsule for additional data ?
If you plan to store important "original" or "master" files and documents on the Time Capsule, then you might want to think about a way to back up those files to another hard drive.
Why? If the Time Capsule has a problem...and you have no backups....you lose everything. -
Dear Apple, Have you fixed the 'Time out' issue with airport? It now happens to me 2-3 times a day for the past 6 months. Answers please.
We're not Apple - these boards are user-to-user.
Your profile says 10.7.3 - try applying the 10.7.5 combo update. -

How to Increase Time-out for Agent Manager in OLT?
Hello All,
When using the Oracle Load Testing Agent Manager for a load test of multiple scripts, I often get time-outs at the start of a test from OLT:
"Error communicating with.... : timed out after 60 seconds".
When I check the agentmanager.log file on the remote PC (Win XP SP2) I can see that the communcation started with the last line saying
"connected to server=......yaddayadda.... queue=queue/AgentPoolNotificationQueue"
which I assume means there was communication. And there were 2 attempts to start. After the first attempt, the entry:
05:31:09,513 WARN [AgentProcess] Forcibly terminating process 8041484 for agent agId1530_rndd49ae6b9-a8ec-4a0d-920d-16ee6c7021f4
The agentmanager_auth.log file show 2 lines near the start time of the test:
2010-05-12 05:30:18,606 INFO [URL:t3://..........au:8088;Requestor Username: oats;Requestor Key:f6272e33-9428-425b-b52d-c0363f863e43;Requestor Queue:queue/AgentPoolNotificationQueue;Request ID:36;Request:startagent;] - authentication successful
2010-05-12 05:31:09,513 INFO [URL:t3://..........au:8088;Requestor Username: oats;Requestor Key:f6272e33-9428-425b-b52d-c0363f863e43;Requestor Queue:queue/AgentPoolNotificationQueue;Request ID:42;Request:stopagent;] - authentication successful
Why was there a 'stopagent'?
The log from a successful agent show lines after the "Connected to server...." line ( "startAgent( pathTo.....a.. Launching agent.... Launched process 8792944 for agaent agId.....") so something appears to have not happened on the failed agents.
When starting a test immediately (rather than scheduling it as I want to for off-peak times) and the agents time out, I can stop it & restart test. Usually then they all start successfully.
Does anyone have any suggestions on failure reasons & possible solutions?
If there's nothing else that I might have missed, I'd like to trying increasing the time-out to say 120 or 500 seconds.
How can I do this?
Is there a way to get the agents to try starting again, or add a new vUser/script instance one the test is running?
Many thanks,
Neil
Edited by: Neil S on May 12, 2010 9:16 AMHi Ramesh,
I guess you need to increase the parameter "icm/keep_alive_timeout" value, it's default value is 60. please gothrough the link
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_webas630/helpdata/en/0b/1c7e7abbc311d5993a00508b6b8b11/content.htm
To increase this go to RZ10 and add this parameter in Instance profile and modify the value then restart the server to make the changes effective.

Hari

Can the time capsule function like an external hard drive?
Can I place files there I want to archive but don't need access to everyday? I want to consolodate two older external drives that I have to the time capsule.
You can place files on the Time Capsule drive if you want, but there will be a conflict at some point in time if you are also using the Time Capsule for Time Machine backups.
Drives do have a way of filling up much faster than you expected.
If you plan to place "original" or "master" copies of data on the Time Capsule drive, you'll also have to figure out how to back up those files to yet another drive. Time Machine cannot do this. -
Time Macine not backing up.
As the harddrive is full, Can the time machine clear old backups, and override them with new backups. For example 5 - 6 days +++ old. Backups were proformed dayly
Any help much appreciated
Many thanks,If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Enter the word "Starting" (without the quotes) in the String Matching text field. You should now see log messages with the words "Starting * backup," where * represents any of the words "automatic," "manual," or "standard." Note the timestamp of the last such message. Clear the text field and scroll back in the log to that time. Select the messages timestamped from then until the end of the backup, or the end of the log if that's not clear. Copy them (command-C) to the Clipboard. Paste (command-V) into a reply to this message.
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don't post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Transaction time out for an single ejb
Hi,
I have one ejb which need to run for long time.
Did a quick search on the forum and find out that you can modify data-source.xml and server.xml to increase the time out period.
But this is a "global" setting which will affect all the ejbs in the application.
Is there a setting where only one ejb's transaction time-out can be specified?
Thanks in advance!

Whether MRP can be carried out for work scheduling GR. 20 i.e. work to orde
Dear Experts,
Whether MRP can be carried out for work scheduling GR. 20 i.e. work to order.
mahendraHi MShirodkar,
Yes, s and it specifies the time needed to process the material in the operations at the different work centers.
The GR processing time depends on the order quantity.
The GR processing time is required to calculate the lot size dependent in-house production time. The system then uses the in-house production time to determine the planned dates for planned orders in materials planning.
You can define work scheduling times in the material master record in one of two ways.
Either you enter the in-house production time. If required, you can get the system to update this value from the routing.
Or you enter the setup, teardown, processing, and interoperation times. If you maintain these values, the system determines the in-house production time on the basis of lot size.
I hope it clears you doubt any queries please revert me back.
