Can the USB-9211 Thermocouple Input device measure voltages ?

Can the USB-9211 be used to measure voltages ? It is designed for thermocouple measurements and its operating manual states there is a current source between its TC+ and TC- input terminals.
What amount of current is flowing ? Does it depend on the selected thermocouple type ? Can the current level be controlled by sotware ?
One application for me is to measure resistances of 1 ohm or less by measuring the voltage drop across the resistance induced by flowing a current through it. Might the 92111's current source be somehow used for this ?
What is its peak to peak input noise ? Its specs say 1 uV rms.
This is a delta-sigma converter. Is each successive measurement accurate or does some digital filtering have to be account for and thus it takes several readings for a signal change to become accurate ?

The 9211 measures voltages between 0 and 80 mV only. The current source is only use to force a full scale input if an open thermocouple is connected and cannot be controlled by software. The input impedance of each channel between TC- and TC+ is 20M Ohm. However, the current that flows in the amplifier is very small, 50 nA.
The main problem here is the fact that the current source is not controlled by the user. This means that connecting a resistor of 1 Ohm between TC- and TC+ would not just produce a voltage that maybe due to external exitation, but the internal source should also be taken into account. Since the user has control over it, it would be a guess work to try to make sense of any voltage value read in.
its peak to peak input noise is 1 uV rms as indicated in the specs.
So as long as the measurements allow for enough settling time (12S/s), each one is accurate.

  • Does anyone know about a VI for the NI USB-9211 thermocouple DAQ?

I just bought a USB-9211 from NI. It works fine if I run the VI, executable, that comes with it. However, I would like to change the LabVIEW code to play with the temperature data that I am collecting, but since the CD came with executables only, I can't access the code. I have never collected data from a USB-port before, so I guess if I had a code that would allow me to collect the data coming into the USB port, that would help me a lot. Does anyone know of a code I can use?
    Thanks,
    -jc

    Hello jc,
If you click on the following link, it should take you to some example code written for the USB-9211. In the zip file there should be a VI as well as an executable. I'm assuming that the executable is the same one that you have seen. However, the VI should show you how to use the DAQmx Base driver to do thermocouple measurements with the USB-9211.

  • Can the usb camera converter be used with a flash drive or scaning device?

can the usb camera converter be used with a flash drive or scaning device?

    No.
iOS does not have scanner drivers nor does the connector supply enough power.
Flash drive would kind of work, would need to have a DCIM folder-probably wouldn't see whole drive(?)
Then again this exists, uses wifi:

  • Just installed an Epson stylus SX435w. But the usb cable prevents input from my keyboard ?

Just installed an Epson stylus SX435w. But the usb cable prevents input from my keyboard ?  When I remove the printer usb, and then remove and re-insert the keyboard usb my keyboard works again. Any thoughts on what is causing the problem?

Keyboards  and mice are low power devices.  Put your printer on a separate USB port from the keyboard and mouse.  If you have to, buy a wall powered USB hub to have multiple USB devices on your Mac.

  • Can the USB NI DAQs be used for process control,eg.closed loop? or is too fast

can the USB NI DAQs be used for process control,eg.closed loop? or is too fast.

    Hi mho,
1.usb is very high speed that is correct.Better you can choose PCI DAQ.But thats upto you.
                 2. see this:-
                 http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/14136
3.If Matlab support TCP/IP, that could be an option.
                   see Another idea: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/244A37667BD7CBCE86257520007F937B
Another simplest way to do it (assuming you running Windows) is to use a Matlab script.
If both programs running on different systems:-
Most simple and slow - Create two  VI's  with shared variable on both machines, and use a matlab script to
share data. (this makes matlab some kind of "slave").
More advanced but still  relatively slow (Create two  VI's  with shared variable, on the Matlab machine build the .NET
dll, and it can be used on Matlab too ( at least at 2010b version, earlier version support only COM).
Create TCP/IP connection between two comps.
There is "out of the box" NI products, that communicate with Simulink models. You please do a simple search on that...OK
I think this link is also helpful for you:-

  • Which Adobe 3D apps support the Phantom Omni haptic input device?

Adobe is doing a lot of work in the 3D space - do any Adobe apps for 3D design (specifically for 3D printing, not animation) support the Phantom Omni haptic input device? Or what are the plans to add support? Now that GeoMagic has been purchased by 3D systems, I am hoping more software supports this device.

  • IPAD AIR - Lost and Stolen. Can the thief use my locked device?

MY iPad Air was lost/stolen while crossing the border between Hong Kong and Lowu (Shenzhen).
The device is locked. Under the support/my devices it shows that my iPad is registered with Apple and I do have the serial number for the device handy.
I tried to use "FIND MY IPHONE" and the device does not show up. It is possible I did not activate that function although this is unlikely.
Can the thief use my device by erasing all the data? Can Apple trace the device and if so, who do I report it to at Apple ?
    Please help.

    Thanks for your reply.
I also read somewhere that in the event I use the remote function via iCloud to delete the contents of the iPad, the thief could then use it. I have no intention of doing this.
I have just secured myself for now and changed all my passwords including the Apple user ID one.
I guess my best bet would be to report and register the number to the local authorities in case it gets returned / shows up by some good samaritan ?

  • Why don't USB stereo audio input devices work with  the iPod Touch 4G?

The Fostex AR-4i and the Line6 Mobile In provide stereo audio input via USB on the iPads and the iPhone 4.
Why can't these devices work on an iPod Touch 4G?

Does the manufactur say it works with the iPod Touch?  Many accessories do not work with all three iDevices (iPod Touch, iPad and iPhone)

  • TS1538 On Windows Vista, everything works through the USB ports except IOS devices.  This just started and I can't get things to work.  Help!

The past few days I find my IOS devices don't show up in "My Computer" and they don't show up in iTunes.  All other USB devices work well.  I am using Windows Vista.  I have tried several troubleshooting things, including unintalling and reinstalling iTunes, stopping and starting the Apple monitors, etc.  Nothing is working.  Ideas?

It's really great that you're taking the time to help me.  I did several of the tests you recommend over the last two or three days.  It always shows that the iPod/iPhone/iPad isn't present.  Here's more.  I got a Norton tech to help me yesterday and it isn't the anti-virus, as we uninstalled everything and it still didn't work.  I went deeper into the system through the control panel, and found the device detected on the appropriate USB port, but it won't show up in "My Computer".  Two of the three devices show up on another PC, (I didn't test the third) so I'm leaning to something in iTunes because every other USB device I plug into the Vista ports shows up quickly and works perfectly (thumb drives, wireless mouse, camera, etc).  I already unistalled all Apple software and downloaded new, but the problem still exists.  I have restarted, unplugged, you name it and the devices aren't showing up.  I can't wirelessly sync either because one has to set that up through iTunes prior to doing it.

  • Can I use 2 Audio Input Devices

    Hi,
I am using Mainstage with Apogee's GIO. I want to add a separate audio interface for Microphone (as GIO only supports guitar).
Is there anyway I can use both at the same time whilst performing in Mainstage?
    Many Thanks
    Scott

    JG,
    Thanks for replying.
I have setup the aggregate device in Audio Midi Setup, but it will not let me select it in Mainstage. It does have an option for System settings. But when I select this the Input options on the Channel Strips are still the same.
Am I doing something wrong? I'm a bit of a Mac novice I'm afraid
    Cheers
    Scott

  • Can i change my audio input/device ?

Hello . The built-in mic that comes with my camcorder, is not good enough for my needs. can i record video with the camera but record another input/audio source in iMovie HD ? I know i can record little add ons afterward, but i mean while recording the video . I would like to use my audio interface as the device to capture audio. PLEASE HELP ! ( my first problem about recording 2 different video sources was not solved, but i will be more than content if this one is )

To make this more interesting, I am trying to troubleshoot an echoing issue I have when using softphones and other voice communication software.  When callers talk and I use "speakerphone" mode, they can hear themselves.  I manually loaded PulseAudio's noise-cancel module and afterwards a device named "Built-in Audio Stereo (echo cancelled with Build-in Audio Analog Stereo)" showed up in the Gnome Sound Settings list.  If I unload that module the device disappears and I am back to  nothing showing in the Input list.

  • Can the usb sync/power cable that came with the iPhone 3g and 4 handle the 2.1 amps drawn by the ipad 2 (if used with the 10w plug) without risk of overheating?

I recently made the mistake of buying a cheap sync cable from a well known auction site becuase I wanted a longer cable than comes in the box for my ipad 2.
Whilst my iPad will sync OK, it takes an age to charge (using the standard 10w plug in the wall). I don't fully understand the science in the cables, but assume it is not a big enough cable to handle the current/2.1 amps?.
If like house wire you send too much current through a cable that is to small for the job it risks overheating and causing a fire.
Does this same principle apply to the iPad power lead?
Anyway back to the question, can I use other leads I have hanging around the house from my previous iphones and ipods to charge my ipad (again still using the 10w plug in the wall) or will the cable in these be too small to handle the 2.1 amps required by the ipad?
I don't want to risk overheating the cables and causing a short to break my beloved iPad 2...!

    Thanks for your replies.
Not sure they entirely answer my question though.
I have used my different cables and can see that they are actually working (charging and syncing etc), but am i using old cable that was not intended to draw 2.1 amps and so may overheat and cause damage in the long run?
Or did apple deliberately over engineer the original cables which were only needed to supply 1 amp and they can actually be used to draw 2.1 amps comfortably?
Whilst the 30 pin connectors and usb points are identical, is the internal cable thickness/awg gauge the same?
    Thanks

  • Can the USB cord and charging plug be used interchangeably between iPad Air and Pad mini?

I have a new iPad air and a new iPad mini. Both seem to have the same white USB cable, but the charging plug adapters are different sizes. Can they be used interchangeably with each other? In other words, can I use the Air adapter to charge the Mini without a problem and vice versa?

The charger that comes with the iPad Air is 12 watts while the one that comes with the standard mini is 5 watts. As Kappy mentioned, the higher wattage charger (12 watt) can be used with both. If you try to use the 5 watt charger with the iPad Air, you'll likely get a Not Charging message. It may still charge but it will be very slow and it's not really recommended.
The cables themselves are identical, no issue there.
