Can the Westell A90-750015-07 modem/router be used as an wireless repeater?

I am currently using a Netgear router and would like the Westell to act as a repeater to boost the signal.  Is this possible to do and how?

The Netgear WNR834B can work as a repeater. The Westell 7500 must be the primary router to do this though. Ideally, what you should do instead of repeating a Wireless signal is to use Ethernet to the second router, either through a direct cable run or a MoCa/Powerline Link and set up the Netgear as an Access Point only. You'll maintain Wireless speed and you won't have to deal with WDS.

  • Westell A90-750015-07 as a wireless router w/o use of the DSL portion?

    EDIT:
WHOOPS! Perhaps a better place for this would have been home networking, my apologies, even though this is in an area that is not best suited for it, please don't delete it as for someone that is a "hunt n' peck" typist, it would be heck to enter it all over again... Thnx.
    Hello,
Perhaps someone has already done this...
I'm curious about the possibilities of a Westell 7500 DSL modem / wireless-router operating ONLY as a wireless router.
That is to say if there was a need for an additional wireless router to use one as such.
After all, one of the network connectors is labeled E1-UPLINK.
One "possible" scenario would be an extension of service to an outbuilding or another floor. To elaborate, a wired connection could be made between the DSL / router and another Westell 7500 in a detached garage or on another floor of a residence that the wireless signal from the first DSL Modem could not reach. Of course they would be both operating on different channels.
Anyone ever tried this or had it work for them successfully?
    Cordially,
    Gerry

This can be done. Use a second 7500 and set it up with the settings you need for Wireless. Don't connect it to a DSL line and instead, disable DHCP (Private LAN) on the second Westell 7500. Also disable the Network Scanning to cut down on ARP traffic on the network. From that point, connect the two units LAN to LAN and you've got a switch and Access Point. Don't bother enabling the VersaPort feature of the 7500, and it's also best to disable the Firewall built-in since it's not needed (unloading it from Memory).
You might be able to bridge the Westell 7500 as if it were being set up as just a modem and that would effectively do the same thing (shut off the router-related features in a single go) and from that point all you'd need to do is disable DHCP on the router and connect the two units LAN-to-LAN. Not sure if bridging shuts the wireless off, however.

  • How do you create/add additional LAN IP blocks to the Westell A90-9100?

I have a Linksys at home and the double NAT is killing me.  I'd prefer to add another IP block to the ethernet interface of the Westell, but it is not as cut and dry as the Linksys router I have.  Is there a way to do this, or am I stuck with the typical port-forwarding configs?  The devices I seem to have minor issues with are the media hub and the UMI telepresence.  They are functional, but some of the features are not working.  If there was only one device setup for NAT while routing IP addresses to the linksys that would work for me.
    Westell = 192.168.1.1
Linksys E4200 = WAN: 192.168.1.254 and LAN 192.168.11.1 (NAT Enabled)
I'd like to add a static route from the Westell to the Linksys and remove the NAT on the Linksys, but when I did so, all traffic was blocked at the Westell.  I tried RIP, but that did nothing for me.
I'd prefer not to convert the E4200 into a switch due to the extra features on it like the USB port for an external drive.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

I agree with the last suggestion. There's no need to have port forwarding rules in both the westell and linksys . So kill your port forwarding rules you made for.the linksys in the westell , assign the linksys a static ip and then dump it in the dmz. Then let the linksys handle all the port forwarding and additional ip blocks or VLANS

  • Can I format the CF in a cisco 1800 router and then use it on the ASA 5520?

Can I format Compact Flash in a cisco 1800 router and then use it on the ASA 5520?

You don't have to format the card in the router. You can do that on your PC. Just format the CF-card as FAT32 and plug it into the ASA.
BUT: If you just want to "upgrade" the old card with a different one, then first attach the original card from the ASA to your PC and copy all files (including the hidden ones) to your PC and then copy them back to the new card. That way you also move your licenses to the new card which are stored in hidden files and your private data like keys.

  • Fix for my Westell 327W15 (aka 327 modem / router)

I had the same issue as other users - who had the Westell 327 router from Verizon DSL - but just upgrading my firmware didn't work. Turns out I had to go in and turn off my MAC authentication. SO, to do this, go to your router page (mine was 192.168.1.1) and enter the username & password, and then go to Wireless Settings --> Advanced Security Settings --> Level 3 - Wireless MAC Authentication --> and UNCHECK the box for Enable Access List. Now both my iphone and ipad work seamlessly with my wireless Westell router.
Note, make sure you update your firmware too - on my D90 model, this is how you do that: go to the Advanced page --> Advanced --> there should be an icon & text saying "Firmware Upgrade" - follow the steps there to get your firmware upgraded.
Hope this saves someone else the 2-3hr headache I had!

I beleive that if you had added the MAC Address of your iPad to the Access List, you would have also had things working.

  • I just purchased two Macbook Air along with two Time Capsule (2TB) for my kids. Meanwhile I use a sagemcom ADLS modem/router for home use. Can I connect both Time Capsule and laptop which will allow both laptop to have their own backup system?

I want both of the computers to have their own independent time capsule.

want both of the computers to have their own independent time capsule.
I assume that you are asking about using the Time Capsules for Time Machine backups here, correct?
If yes, both MBAs will be able to select the specific Time Capsule that they will use for backups, so "point" MBA1 to Time Capsule 1 and MBA2 to Time Capsule 2.
Since you will have plenty of available backup space if you use two Time Capsules, you might want to consider having each MBA back up to both Time Capsule 1 and Time Capsule 2.
This way, if one Time Capsule fails, you will still have a complete set of backups for both MBAs.

  • Can the Google search box in Safari be made to use the UK Google search page?

I've only just realised, (after nearly eight months of Mac ownership!), that my Google search results seem to be rather US-oriented.
I think this is because the search box in Safari, which I do have set to Google as my default, is using the US Google.com search engine instead of the Google.co.uk one.
Am I correct in thinking this? And, if I am, is there any way of tweeking Safari to use the UK version please?
    I'm using Safari 5.0.5

If you want to fix your Google search to a specific Google location, I recommend that you download and install the free plug-in Glims:
    http://www.machangout.com/
which not only does that but much more equally useful stuff! Such as enabling Safari to run full-screen, and more.)
(It adds items to Safari Preferences).
Not only does it already list a number of search engines and regions, but you can also add any other search engine not already listed in Glims by using the method described here:
    http://www.machangout.com/tutorials/addsearchengine
Just enter the name you give the search engine in the name field, and the URL for it in the Query URL field.

  • Can the Battery Charger LC-E5 for EOS 500d be used in Asia? If not, what's an option?

Am worried my Battery Charger LC-E5 for EOS 500d may not work with power sources in Asia. Can I safely plug

    Solved!

I don't understand the tendency on here to repeat exactly what someone already said without providing any new information.
I used my charger for the 450D in Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Hong Kong, and China.  Not to mention Europe, Africa, South America, Australia.  No problems.
Pretty much any modern day electronic (not any electric, electronic) will run fine on either system.  Electronics run on DC current, so AC line supplies need to be rectified, smoothed, and downscaled to usually around 3.3 - 12V.  The components that do this can easily be made to handle a wide range of AC input, which is quite convenient.   I would always check the electronic or the transformer (the brick between the cords on a laptop charger) to be sure, but in general the only things that are going to have issue are simple non-electronic devices like electric shavers and curling irons.

  • Can the delimiter in a CFSELECT-multiple be changed before using the list it creates?

I am using a CFSELECT which allows multiple selections, and I
am feeding the results into a query which returns information about
all of the selections. However, some of the values being returned
contain commas because the values are company names (Acme, Inc.)
and this conflicts with the comma-delimiting being looked for by
the ListQualify I am using in the query to look up the information
    based upon the selections.
Is there a way to change the delimiter of either the CFSELECT
or the list it generates? I have tried ListChangeDelims before the
query, but it changes both the delimiter commas and the value
commas, obviously. I don't believe there is a way to change the
delimiter commas between creating the list in the CFSELECT and
using it in the ListQualify, but there are so many of you CF
geniuses out there, one of you has to know how to do this.
I am happy to provide more information or attempt to clarify
    a point upon request.
My thanks in advance for your consideration and help,
    Jim

Thank you for the suggestion, Dan. I wish it was that simple.
I am working with a table in which the company name is entered for
each record and has no link to any other table, there is no company
table. I could create a company table and switch-out the company
name with it's new id, but I'd rather not have to change several
thousand records. Plus, with new records being added all the time,
how would the users enter company names if the names aren't already
    in this new table?
The point may be moot, in addition, as there are numerous
scenarios in which one may have a field that contains commas for a
number of reasons. Regardless of why the commas are used, the fact
that they can be used is important and what needs to be addressed.
Is there a way to leave the commas in the records and change the
    delimiter put in the list?
    Thanks again,
    Jim

  • Can the Adobe Photoshop Layer Support with Captivate 4 be use to show a Zoom & Pan Effect?

I'm working with a client that is interested in creating the "Zoom & Pan" effect you get with Camtasia using Captivate 4.  I'm not finding enough information to support that this is possible with Captivate 4.  The Photoshop Layer Support feature with Captivate 4 comes across as something that may work to some degree however, it is again unclear if it would definitely work to give the zoom & pan effect I am looking for.  Would anyone mind explaining this feature in greater detail and/or offering any ideas for how I can show the zoom & pan effect in Captivate 4?

    Hi there
    LOL, good luck with that!
NOTHING in Captivate will achieve what you are seeing in Camtasia. Sorry, there simply is no comparison. Sure, Captivate has panning while recording, but what you end up with are several herky jerky snapshots of suddenly being in a different screen area. Sort of reminds me of walking through a room while slowly closing and opening your eyes. In other words, you are seeing version 1 of the panning feature. We hope it improves, but it's not there yet.
If you have Camtasia, you could combine it with Captivate for some nice and interesting effects and have the best of both worlds! I do that.
    Cheers... Rick
