Can the Zen Stone Plus coexist with iTun

I am a runner and I am interested in the Zen Stone Plus. I use iTunes and various iPods. How would the Zen software coexist with iTunes.
Most of the music in my library is from?my own CD's?and not from the iTunes Store. Thank you. Bob Michiel?

Yes, the softwares can co-exists with each other. However the iTunes would not work with the Zen Stone Plus.

Problem with my brand new mp3 player Zen Stone Plus 2GB ( with built in speaker )

Hi .
I have purchased the following Zen Stone Plus 2GB with built in speaker on 24.06.2008.
From day one, it had a charging problem . Initial charging it'snever go beyond 87%.
After using it for 2 days, at the time of recharging , I found my player won`t get dectected in my PC .
I took the set to the vendor for a checkup . He tried to solve it by resetting , formating etc. But he could only able to to format it's sacrificing its 50% of its allocated space.
My vendor then changed the set with a brand new one, againts that faulty one .
Now the new one worked well for 3 - 4 days , but it is now totally dead .
But the set did not give any indication before it become completely dead.
A few dust particles inside the LCD screen was also observed. I can`t understand how come dust particles can enter inside
a player which is sealed box pack .
Next issue is with the battery which CREATIVE promised of giving a backup of approx 20 hrs of continious playback , which with minimal scuffling and with minimal settings lasted for 0 hrs approx ( 50% less than promised ).
Another thing that i must state is the problem of FM Reception . It is simply terrible . In the same area where my mobile's FM reception is fine , Zen Stone's FM failed to give any reception .
I came to know about Zen Stone Plus from of my friend , who is using Zen Stone Plus GB without any problem for long time.
Pls tell me what to do now, since my player is compleately out of order now , and pls suggest me something regarding the issue of battery backup , FM reception ... etc.
Now i am in a total mess . I just dont know what to do with the set that is few days old .
Pls help urgently .

Go to the Support section of the website and select your product. On your right, click on Contact Us. You will be provided with a list of troubleshooting options. Click on the one closes to your issue. Go through the suggestions and if the does not work or you have already tried that, scroll to the bottom and click on No, escalate to email. This should bring you to the email form to contact support.

Firmware zen stone plus 4GB with spea

in the dropdown list when looking for the latest version of the firmware for my "zen stone plus 4GB with speaker" i just can found the "zen stone plus 4GB"..
this mean that there are no available updates for my device, or that the model with built-in speaker use the same firmware of the one without speaker?

Hi JLM, am running .0.05e fine and in fact listening to it at the moment. Is there anyway you can regress back to .0.03 to test your theory? Testing a bunch of 28k CBR MP3s is an easy thing to try also.Message Edited by BlueRobin on 0-02-200802:49 PM

Hello everyone.3 months ago i bought a zen stone plus mp3. It didnt appear to me any problems but yesterday i couldn't open it,i thought it would be due to battery lack but when I connected it to my pc neither the pc could read it. :S

What is the approx backup time it offers or rather it should offer on minimal scuffling and minimum change of settings of the player?

I haven't tested it off yet as I always charge it after one bar of the battery indicator has gone. But thought I try to use it'suntil it's completely flat this time. After listening to 4. albums and minimal playing in the menu the battery indicator still says full.

Can the zen stone be used as a small hard drive/flash dri

Could i stick in other stuff besides mp3 files for storage, like pictures, small programs, stuff like that? I know i wouldn't be able to use them on the mp3, but could i store them in it to open on a computer?

The Zen Stone acts as a thumbnail and you can load anything you want on it, the only thing is that what cannot be read would not be touched. Just use Windows Explorer to drag and drop the files.

Will the ZEN V plus work with WIN 2K or should I get an I-po

I take it that the zen Vplus will not work on Win 2k ? Does it only work on Win XP or higher ?
Is their any known working software for this thing that will work on Win 2K or do I need to upgrade my op sys ?
I tried downloading some Win 2k software for my ZEN Vplus from the creative web site but unfortunately when trying to install it it gives an error message that a file is missing but in typical useless Windows fashion it does not indicate what the missing file is.
Anyone have any ideas before I take this thing out to the skeet shooting range and get an I-pod as a replacement ?

Sorry to hear that it is also flaky with windows XP, now I won't waste my money to upgrade to XP.
I know it's a Windows problem more than a creative one, you just gotta love any software that has to interface with anything by Microsoft and feel sorry for the 3rd party programmers at the same time.
I download the creative media center for Win 2K (CMSS)and the ZEN V+ along with Win 2k service pack 4, Microsoft DirectX? 9.0 basically all the required files that CMSS list and it still will not install correctly.
I just wish there was a way for the Creative installer to tell me what the other missing file is.

Zen Stone Plus: Does it start playing again where i stopped the so

I hope one og you can help me.
I want to know if the Zen stone Plus MP3 player starts in the same song after it has been turned off.
So if I turn it off 3.4min in a song, does it then start at 3.4 when i turn it on again, or does it start from the beginning of the song
The reason i ask is because i often use the mp3-player to hear "sound-books", and the files are often very long, so its very annoying when my current mp3 player starts from the beginning of the file after i have heard maybe 30 min

I believe the pattern with the Stones has been that if you plug them in for charging, even if you don't update the mp3s, playlists, etc., they essentially get "reset" when they resume.
They pick up where you left off as long as you *don't* plug them in for charging, changing what's loaded, etc.
I don't recall it being possible to do something like set a bookmark.
Basically, you should have several hours of play / resume time like you desire, but if you have to charge the player at some point, you'll have to go back to the beginning of the file. Not sure if they can alter this in future firmware or not.

Arranging tracks with the Zen Stone P

I've recently upgraded from a Zen Nano Plus to a Zen Stone Plus. With the Nano I had?Creative Zen Nano Plus Media Explorer, which allowed me to change the order of tracks?in a folder and number them automatically. Zen Nano Plus Media Explorer?doesn't work with the Stone, so any arranging and numbering of tracks has to be done manually, which is a right pain.
Is there a version of Creative Media Explorer available for the Stone Plus, or perhaps some third-party alternati've that would allow me to do the same thing? Thanks in advance.

I have the Stone (not Stone Plus) ... it doesnt have bookmarking, but it does have the ability to fast forward/rewind by holding down the skip fwd/back keys. Also (and I dont know if this is a function of my audiobook or of the player), it seems to create a .pos file next to my audiobook file, so if i move from an audiobook to my songs and then back, it picks up the audiobook where i left off.

The Zen Stone architect

I recently got a GB Zen Stone, and I love the thing to death. Nifty little flash dri've that just so happens to play MP3s too. Genius.
Despite only owning it for near a month now, I've some questions about its primary workings, and hopefully a member of the development team would grace my post with an in-depth, technical response.
First off, the lowest volume setting is too loud. My ears hum after listening at that volume for 3 hours straight (my typical music selection is a mix of jazz (Ellington, Davis), classic rock (Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Grateful Dead), sitar (Ravi Shankar), and classical (Gershwin, Yo-Yo Ma playing Bach). Nothing that gets violently loud on its own). I downloaded and installed the software application that controls the volume, but it only restricts the maximum volume level. Oh, I should mention that I am currently using the earbuds that came with it, but I don't think that matters.
Second, what factors influence the Shuffle algorithm/function? It could just be me, but it seems like the same songs come up again and again between listening sessions (a session being the time between power-on and power-off). Does the folder and/or file name length have any influence?
Third, is there a way to add or remove audio codecs from the player? WMAs are terrible, and I'd love to be able to play OGGs.
Those are the only two things I can think of. If my mind sparks and I figure something else, I'll add it on to my list.

Zen Stone Plus not detected by software - GRRRRR

Hello all
A month ago I bought the Creative Zen Stone Plus.
I was quite happy to go with Creative because I had been the happy owner of a Creative MuVo player for a few years. The MuVo was remarkably straightforward to use. The only problems I experienced were occasionnal freezes of the software during file transfer. Nothing major. I lost count of the number of times I recommended this product to others, usually as a cheaper but just as good alternati've to the iPod.
However, I am beginning to have serious doubts about Creative.
This is the problem:
- The player cannot be seen in Creative Media Lite.
- In Devices Manager, "Creative Zen Stone Plus" appears under devices category "Other devices" and has a yellow question mark next to it.
In other words, I have had the Zen Stone Plus for a month and it has never worked !
From my exchanges with Technical Support (email) and from the knowledge base (eg # 9287,
and 4782) and from this forum, I have tried several things such as
- deinstalling (actually rolling back) then reinstalling Windows Media Player (to get MTP drivers installed)
- downloading the Iomega patch
- I downloaded the player recovery tool (the one with the red button) but when I click on it, I get the message "Player not detected. Do you want to retry"
I found two dead ends in the technical support articles I read:
- I decided to make changes to the registry, as one article suggested that the problem may be due to USB permissions. So I typed 'regedit' but the compuer would not accept this command.
- I also decided that I would change the firmware, as another article suggested. How on earth do I do this. I downloaded the firmware for my player but I do not know how to enter the Recovery Mode. It is not clear from the Recovery page (KB ID # 4794) whether my device is 'ZEN' or a 'Zen Series'. I treid the procedure for both and neither worked !
I'm beginning to feel like I've wasted my money. I had been thinking about buying a Creative player for my sister and also a friend. Now I won't bother, even if this problem is solved. I consider myself to be IT literate but how does Creative expect technically illiterate people to cope with its products !
Can anyone help me to make the Zen Stone Plus work? Otherwise, I'll consider it to be a **bleep** Stone and flush it down the toilet, where it belongs.

When you plug in the ZEN stone, your device manager list should refresh. Besides under USB controllers, did it detect anything when you plug it's You can also try the following:
.) Unplug/replug the USB cable and connect it to the rear USB port instead of using front ports.
2.) If you have another USB cable, try using a different one and see if it works.

funny(!!) I have the same model (Zen Stone Plus) and the exact error occurs to me to --a power sign and NO CHARGE!!
I thought I heard that with Zen -starting it (re-boot) with the Zen plugged-in already will let it work? I tried that and , that didn't help.. -Does any Forum user have any idea what to try?

Creative Zen Stone Plus Returns First Track On Player After Recharge

? Hi Everybody... I didn't see this topic posted on another thread, but I wasn't going to read thousands of posts to get this answer either. My problem is I own two players, one is a Creative Zen Stone and the other is the Zen Stone Plus. My Zen Stone does not return to the first track on the player when I recharge it (it remains on the same track), but the Zen Stone Plus does. This normally wouldn't be a big deal, but my mother-in-law listens to audiobooks. Sometimes those books don't have seperate tracks which means there is a single track that runs for like 6 - 8 hours. Is there a way to allow the player to pick up where it left off? It is a real pain to have to fast forward through most of an audiobook, especially when my player (the less expensi've player) continues where it left off. BTW.... Letting her have my player is not an option since hers has a display screen and mine doesn't.

So, reading the forum, it seems we have seroiusly problems with charging.... I'll try all I've read: disabling "energy conservation mode" on USB root, using an USB powered hub as Battery Charger, updating the Firmware, formatting / resetting the player and then using cml and the led to charge it to the full. I hope it solves, at least for me.... ?

Charging Zen Stone Plus

when I plug the Zen Stone Plus into the computer via the USB port, the LED light that blinks is blue (the manual says it's supposed to be orange) - does that matter also the icon representing of the amount of battery left in the player is constantly at 20% on the Creative Media Lite program (downloaded from uk creative website) no matter how long I charge it, and the low battery sign is always shown on the player display even after unplugging. Otherwise, the mp3 player does not show signs of being charged. How can I charge it'sthanks
