Can this Audio be salvaged? (Looking to reduce/remove distortion)

Yes, I know that the best solution to this is to go back and re-record, but that's not an option. I've shared a Google Drive folder with a .WAV file extracted from video shot on a Nikon D5100. The microphone on the camera was obviously not able to handle the huge sound that the piano produced in such a small room.
I've tried a couple of things, but I'm at a loss. Help?

Oh, the wonderful sound of a woefully inadequate preamp being overloaded... (not necessarily the mic itself, but possibly)
I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I can tell you unequivocally that there's nothing you can do to this that will ever make it acceptable. This signal got trashed before it got anywhere near being digitised, and so no attempts at unclipping will work; it's not really a clipped signal in that sense. And 'undistorting' plugins don't exist, except in peoples' dreams.
It's a shame - it wasn't that far out, really - just enough. You can tell it's the preamp having the problems though, because it actually doesn't distort in the quieter passages. Takes a hell of a lot to overload those on-board mic capsules, so I don't really think it's that. But the preamp has to run off a very low voltage (the camera battery), and the available output is essentially limited by this, and that's where it distorts.

Can this audio be cleaned up?

I have a couple of minutes of footage (that I have to use and cannot reshoot or dub) that was recorded in a tiny bathroom. There is some echo, but that is the least of my problems. The big problem is the bathroom fan was running during all of the takes and the sound of that hum is brutal.

I tried sending the sound file to SoundTrack Pro to remove the noise, but the results weren't great.
I have spent the last 3 hours playing with the Audio Filters in FCP. I am stumbling around in the dark and occasionally a filter does seem to help. I have had some luck with the following (even though I don't know exactly what they do):
Hum Remover
Parametric Equalizer
Band Pass Filter
But I can't seem to find the best combination. My ears are numb at this point.
I realize there is no perfect solution (bad audio is bad audio). But I was hoping someone out there who is better at this than me (most of you), could take a moment to listen to the file, try a couple of things, and offer me some specific suggestions.
If someone can help me out with this, I would really, really appreciate it.

Hi Chris,
Check out _This Video Tutorial_ that shows you how to send your audio file from FCP to Soundtrack Pro where you can set a noise print and then reduce noise. You mentioned that you've already attempted this technique but you may want to try playing with the threshold and bass/tremble preservation in Tone Control to get better results.

It is quite common for the program size listings to be wrong. To check the actual size of the Firefox installation, you can manually check the size of the Firefox [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Installation_directory installation directory]. It is is typically around 26-30Mb, and the default location on 32 bit Windows is C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\
There are also a couple of other locations where Firefox stores data, check the size of the following folders as well.
Firefox also stores user data such as bookmarks and passwords in the [[profiles|profile folder]]. It should be inside this folder C:\Users\''username''\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\
Firefox stores temporary files in the cache. To find the location of the cache, type '''about:cache''' into the location bar. It should be inside this folder C:\Users\''username''\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\
The last 2 folders are normally hidden, you may need to set Vista to [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial130.html show hidden files and folders].

There is a little white bar. When you have your TV connected, move the white bar to the other display. Your main desktop is now the TV screen

No the pages will open as separate documents in Expert Mode. You really need Acrobat or possibly you could copy and paste the contents into MS word. Then re-save as PDF.

1.23 GB of "Other". Can this be reduced?

Just got my new 16 gb nano. Awesome. I loaded all my photo's, several movies, song's etc. There is 1.23 GB of "other". Can this be reduced, or is it all operating system? Thanks.

Hello Dave,
The storage space taken up by "Other" can be made up of, notes or files of any kind you've added to the iPod while using it as a hard disk or album artwork and lyrics. And sometimes when the iPod data base has become corrupt.
There will always be a few MBs or a little over a GB of used space under "other" for the iPod's software and OS, but if it's in GBs it's unusually large. This often happens when the iPod data base becomes corrupt, but that doesn't seem to apply to this situation.

The iOS version is not updated automatically, though if he connects it to his computer's iTunes (if it's a recent enough version) he should be prompted as to whether he wants to update.
He should connect the iPad to his computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to his computer via File > Transfer Purchases. He may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. He can then force a backup of the iPad by right-clicking the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand side of iTunes and selecting 'Backup'.
He can then start the update by selecting the iPad on the left-hand side of iTunes, and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button

Syncing between iPhoto on your iPhone and iPhoto on your Mac is one-way. You can sync selected albums, events, faces, places albums from your Mac to iPhoto on your iPhone using iTunes. This will not delete any albums you created on your iPhone, just add new albums. But albums you create on your iPhone cannot be synced to your Mac.

Not exactly sure what you mean by contaminated, but there is currently no known e-mail that could impact the Apple Mail application as you have described.
Without knowing who your e-mail provider is and what type of account (IMAP or POP3) we can't advise you as to what those settings might be.
One way to fix it would be to delete the account from Apple Mail Preferences->Accounts and add it back.

I have received the 'unsufficient bandwidth' and 'user not reponding' responses for months now. i just can't audio chat - haven't been able to for months!!! (but i can text chat)
I WAS able to audio chat when i first got my mac (it was brilliant!), then about a week later - gone - won't work. i haven't been able to get it to work since.
when i take my powerbook to my friends house, and connect wirelessly to her d-link modem, then yes - i can audio chat with her. no problems.
but when i come back to my place - it doesn't work. (i'm connected wirelessly to a Netgear DG834G v2 router/modem - a PC is connected directly via ethernet.)
I have spent COUNTLESS hours on help lines to mac, netgear, my service providers. i've even upgraded my broadband service. i am completely and utterly at my wits end.
today i spent more hours trying to fix it again. i updated my firmware. then i turned off the UPnP, and the netgear guy told me to go in to Firewall Rules and have my mac IP address directly accepted (port forwarding?)....still hasn't fixed the problem.
my firewall is off. the PCs firewall is off - as is the PCs norton antivirus.
what else can i do to get this thing working - other than throw the
netgear out the window and buy another brand?
any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much for taking the time to post advice for my problem. Unfortunately in my Netgear SmartWizard options I do not have a Port Forwarding or Port Triggering option.
I have the following:
Setup - basic settings, adsl settings, wireless settings
Security - logs, block sites, firewall rules, services, schedule, email
Maintenance - router status, attached devices, backup settings, set password, diagnostics, router upgrade
Advanced - WAN setup, Dynamic DNS, LAN IP Setup, Remote Management, Static Routes, UPnP
Advanced - VPN - VPN wizard, VPN Policies, VPN status
I looked around for anything resembling what you mentioned and found in Services (under Security) i can add a Custom Service...
...i was able to add iChat 1 and iChat 2 and put the ports (but not my server address - it is set up in Firewall Rules). i chose TCP/UDP for both.
I also added AIM as TCP/UDP. [when i tried to add it as TCP it said "Service Port number was defined by another service" so i was forced to choose TCP.]
unfortunately this has not helped. This is probably way too much info for you, as your settings aren't like mine. but am hoping either you or someone may have an idea of what else i could do.
