Can this laptop handle Premiere?

My home tower computer used to work well with editing short, standard videos, but now I am using large HD files and my tower just can't handle them (Dell XPS420)
My boss has graciously offered to buy me a new laptop if I can find one that will handle these bigger files.
So my question is, will the HP dv7tqe series do the trick? If not, what would you suggest? (Note, it has to be HP)

  • Can This Laptop Be Used For Premier Pro CS6?

Developed an interest in learning to edit video but have become confused in reading all of the posts about what is the true minimum hardware requirement/setup, as compared to what is listed as System Requirements by Adobe.  Probably best to start with my initial goals.
Here is what I was looking at doing as this journey begins:
Purchased Creative Suite 6 Production Premium Classroom in a Book(CIB) after reading a review it would be a better start than Premier Pro CIB, which I plan on getting, if one has no experience in this field.  During research feel that I would like to become a subscriber to the Creative Cloud as there are a number of products I would like to learn and use.  Basically, I am hopeful that I may use my current laptop for the beginning of my education and further down the road look at getting a more powerful system as knowledge/skills/requirements increase.  Initial video I wouild like to work with is that received from family members smart phones and will be looking at purchasing a simple video camera for short interviews and brief presentantions.  Will likely desire uploading some completed projects to the web.
    Current Hardware:
    Laptop:  Asus N53SV
    OS: Windows 7 64bit
    CPU: Intel i7-2670QM  2.2GHz Cores=4  Threads=8
    L3 Cache: 6mb
    RAM: 6MB
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 3000, NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M 1024 MB
    OpenGL: 3.1.0
    Display: 1920 X 1080
Drives: (1) HD, Seagate 500GB @ 7,200 RPM partitioned as C: 186GB with OS and programs,  D: 254GB some documents
                  E: Optical DVD-RW
F: USB 3 connected 2 TB Seagate GoFlex External HD
If this laptop can be used with current hardware, I wouild sincerely appreciate any suggestions for how to best utilize what is available to begin learning Premier Pro CS6.  As I will not have any time schedules that will have to be met I can accept that this may not be the ideal system.  Just hoping it can be a start.
If any further information is required about the laptop please let me know and Thank You for your time with this question.

That's not a bad setup at all to get started with small projects.
We all have different budgets and patience. You may be OK with what you have. And if it seems too sluggish - your rig would be for me , the following would help Premiere Pro performance:
    - increase RAM to 16GB (about $140 per eBay pricing from a seller with high ratings a few minutes ago)
    - add another drive; my favorite choice with your laptop would be a Seagate Momentus 750gb drive installed in a NEWmodeUS.com optical bay caddy (slips into your laptop)
    Regards,
    Jim
Exactly what I have done, and it is great.
You can get the caddy here:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/2nd-Hard-Drive-Caddy-Adapter-Asus-N55-N73-N43-N45-N53S-N53SV-G73Jh -G73Jw-G73Sw-/320881591179
I had this setup for my old HP and have a caddy ready to install for my new Dell Precision as well. You can either get an external house for your DVD drive, or get an external one - they are quite cheap.

  • Can this laptop run After effects well?

    Hello,
    I have acer aspire 5742g laptop, i5 480m(max 2.93ghz), Geforce 540m, 6gb ram and slow 5400rpm HDD
After effects runs quite slow if I do something more advanced so I think its time for upgrade.
I found this quite cheap for specs it provides
    Asus N56JR
    Intel® Core™ i7-4700HQ Processor (6 MB Cache, 2.4 Ghz)
    8 GB DDR3 - 1600 MHz
    GeForce GTX 760M GDDR5 2GB
1TB HDD 5400RPM(I will buy ssd later)
    Notebooks & Ultrabooks - N56JR - ASUS
Will this laptop be able to handle after effects good enough?

That would be better but you could use a bunch more ram. After Effects is a professional app with tons of capabilities. The more complex the project the higher the demands are on the system. If you want AE to run quickly when you work on extremely complex projects and you want to run on a laptop then you need a professional workstation grade laptop not a consumer model. Dell and HP make them, Apple makes the MacBookPro R which becomes a workstation grade laptop when you max it out. Simply put, buy the most powerful laptop with the most memory you can afford, make sure the company provides excellent customer service and get a long warrantee - or take your chances with a consumer grade laptop.

  • How much hard drive RPM can this iMac handle?

    Hello!
In my office there's an *iMac Indigo G3 @ 400Mhz* (serial number RN03820ZJV8) and I need to replace its hard drive with a new one with more capacity.
Am being offered hard drives with different RPMs (5,400, 7,600, etc.) but I need to know how much can this IMac model handle, I don't want to over-heat it.
However, I couldn't find that specific data on apple's web site...
So as an alternative way of knowing this I thought that it would be a good idea to know the RPM of the current hard drive as it has worked well for several years:
    "*Fujitsu MPG3204AH E:*", capacity of 19.09GB (serial number: VL00T1A09W09).
But I haven't been able to find that info either!
Anyone out there who can answer:
1.- What's the maximum amount of RPM this specific iMac model can handle without overheating?
    And/or:
2.- What's the RPM for that specific hard drive?
    Best!
    Danny

Several years ago, there were concerns about the faster 7,200 RPM drives causing heat issues in the convection-cooled, slot-loading iMacs. In actuality, the hard drives manufactured today run more smoothly, cooler, and quieter than the first generation of 7,200 RPM drives. You won't have any problems installing a 7,200 RPM drive. The onboard IDE controller can only recognize a maximum formatted drive capacity of 128 GBs, so a 120 GB drive is ideal, but hard to find now. A 160 GB drive is usually the smallest drive stocked by many retailers today, but it would only be recognized as 128 GBs after formatting. As for the Fujitsu MPG3204AH-E drive, the "AH" in the model number indicates a 7,200 RPM drive, whereas earlier drives with "AT" in the model number were 5,400 RPM drives.

  • Will this processor handle premiere and other adobe applications?

I am in the begining process of building a computer with the goal of handling a machine that will run smoothly as I use the more intensive adobe programs. I know video editing is generally the most intensive applications but I would also be running after effects, photoshop, and illustrator on this machine.
The processor I am looking at is an
    Intel® Core™ i7-4790K Processor
(8M Cache, up to 4.40 GHz)
I know there is more to my cpu performance than just processor, but specifically looking at a processor will this handle my usage?
Is intel a trusted brand when it comes to Adobe?
    Thanks

I'm going to be heading out of town for nearly a month and thought of getting a Netbook to (basically) dump my 20D raws onto while I'm away from the home computer. Then I thought for a few dollars more I could get something small but with enough 'Oomph' in it to handle LR and CS4. So I'm considering this one...

I'm not sure where this fits in relation to a Pentium4 which is supposedly the minimum. Has anyone any experience with this Intel processor or may be able to give me some advice...other than go for an even more expensive laptop.
A Core 2 Solo is a single core version of a Core 2 Duo (fancy that!
). The "Core 2" is an improvement on the Pentium design, so it's a
    step up.
    I run LR 2.5 on a Pentium D (that's a dual core 64 bit Pentium), and
it's fine ... until you use the adjustment brush. Otherwise, for
cataloging, keywording, developing, using presets, etc, it's fine. So
a Core 2 Solo should be OK - as long as you don't want it as a
"primary" LR developing machine for more than "basic" developing.
However, laptop speeds are generally slower than desktop speeds.
Rendering 1:1 previews the first time, tho ... multiple minutes until
it finishes. Although you can still do some work, while it renders.
I've done CS4 on my Pentium D. Some things (like panoramas) can be
    horrifyingly slow. Be aware ...
Get at least 4G of RAM, if you do.

    CA Forum: General Feedback
I'm not really sure where to post this. If I posted in the wrong section, please forgive me.I am running Business Objects Enterprise XI R2 on a rack-mounted server with the following specs:Quad Core Intel Xeon processor 2.0 GHz4 hard drive 73 GB each Raid 54 GB RAMWindows 2000 ServerRight now, my user base numbers around 20 or so users. My company is thinking of using the server as a reporting solution for a larger business unit, expanding the user base to around 100+ users. How much volume do you think my server can handle? Would it be enough to handle this amount of users? Or is more processing power/scaling needed?

Get your hands on the ever-useful app, Mactracker. It lists all the specs for one's Mac including the latest capacity for RAM.
You can get it here or at the Mac App store (and iOS store)

  • Can this machine handle...

    Hello,
I have a 350MHz iMac Blueberry w/o FW. It has 320MB RAM and approx 4.45GB of free HD space. Do you think this machine will be able to handle school work, IM and internet? How about applications like P2P and apps. like powerpoint? Thx.

For world processing, powerpoint and Internet in general, this machine is still correct to me, as far as I know. It is light work for a computer.
For P2P, this computer could also handle it, but I strongly suggest you disable it when you do other work.

  • MSI GT70 laptop - can this laptop work with 3D games and movies?

I don't see it indicated anywhere but I was wondering if this was possible..

It should, but not on his own screen, but extent to addiction 3D capable display.

Finally, note that the GTX 680M is compatible with all technologies Nvidia (PhysX, Optimus, etc..) but some of them (such as 3D Vision) cannot be used on the machine, for lack of suitable 3D display. However, if you have the glasses and a 3D Vision screen, nothing prevents you from connecting the MSI GT70 via HDMI and 3D gaming (720p only).

  • Can this laptop be dual booted?

Can my early 2008 macbook intel core 2 duo laptop be dual booted?

    Welcome to the Mac community.
Boot Camp has a great support page - I would look at it carefully if I were you.
You can install it from your Snow Leopard install disks.
    Best of luck.

  • BAPI_ACC_INVOICE_RECEIPT_POST: Can this bapi handle classic W/T ?

    Dear all,
    We use BAPI_ACC_INVOICE_RECEIPT_POST
to post FI invoices in the program. However, in the FI invoice, w/t code and w/t amount are not populated. I find a user exit such as structure ACCIT_WT has W/T information. The problem is we are using classic W/T. Does anyone know if BAPI_ACC_INVOICE_RECEIPT_POST support classic W/T? If not. Please give suggestions.
    Many thanks,
    Molly

Hi Aaron - I believe that for each line item you should only have only one of the accountgl or accountpayable tables populated but not both. So for the first line item remove the code for the accountgl since it appears it is a vendor item. The GL will be updated inherently.

  • Hp intel i5.can it handle premiere?

I have a Hewlett-Packard HP Pro-book 4540 with an Intel Core i5-3340 CPU @ 2.70 Ghz. I have 7.88 GB usable RAM. 334GB available hard drive. I installed Premiere from the CC. The program loads and open new projects. When I import a video it immediately shuts down. I bought this laptop not for editing purposes but i wanted to try and see if this system could handle premiere. Any suggestions?

hpdude, you should clarify if it's Premiere that closes, or do you get the system BSOD, or does the computer itself suffer an instant shutdown as if the power cable was pulled out?  I had problems with that third possbiliity (HP desktop) and a new power supply solved them.
I'm researching for a new laptop, and the general consensus is that an i7, 16GB minimum memory, an Nvidia card (at least a GTX series)  and a 7200 rpm hard drive are pretty essential for a decent editing experience these days. It depends on many variables like the number of tracks, pace of edits, codecs, etc.

    No... do not move programs.
    About the iTunes library files
Your iTunes library files track the media you add to iTunes, how you've organized it, and other information such as playlists. By default, these two files are in your iTunes folder:
    Mac OS X: /Users/username/Music/iTunes/
    Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\
    Windows Vista: C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes\
    Windows 7: C:\Users\username\My Music\iTunes\

  • Can this device be used as an external hard drive with a macbook pro laptop to use files on the airport?

can this device be used as an external hard drive with a macbook pro laptop and use files on the airport time capsule?

If you mean an AirPort base station other than the Time Capsule, it doesn't have internal storage.
If you mean a Time Capsule, its internal drive can be used for regular file storage but shouldn't be; as with all drives, it'll eventually fail. You're better off using a standalone drive and setting Time Machine to back it up as well.
