Can this webcam take 'still' pictures to create a movie?

We are interseted in purchasing a video camera for our son to make lego movies. The one used on youtube is a logicam 9000. I read that this is a 'webcam'. Can he take still pictures with this then play them back as a smooth movie? He is also interested in Effects LAb to create graphics. Does any one know anything about the compatability of these two? Thanks in advance.

Ah, you mean a stop motion movie?  (take a still picture of the legos, move them slightly, take another still picture.)
The webcam should work, but you may be better off with a good still picture camera (something that can focus up-close).  It's going to be all about the software you use to assemble the stills into a video - this is a pretty common task and there's lots of software that will do it, quite a bit of which will be free.

How can I export a still picture from a video clip?

I'm able to export stills from iMovie without anything extra. I create a new project - call it Exports say. Now, in your event clip with the frames you want as stills, select a single frame and drag it into your project. Repeat for other stills you want to export. Then choose Share -> Export Using QuickTime.
In the pop-up, choose Movie to Image Sequence. Click Options and choose the image format you want. Playing with the number of stills lets you pick how many stills you want from each second of video. Hit OK and the stills will be generated in the directory you choose.
I've only done this with HD video. Don't know how well it works with lower res, interlaced vid.

Assuming you have iMovie 11 (also known as Version 9.0.4), here is how you do it. (If you have a different version, let me know. The instructions will be different).
First, get an app called MPEG Streamclip, which is free. (google MPEG Streamclip from Squared 5)
    Open MPEG Streamclip.
In iMovie, select the clip you need. Then, right-click/Reveal in Finder.
Drag this clip into MPEG Streamclip
In MPEG Streamclip, move the playhead to the frame you want.
In MPEG Streamclip, click FILE/EXPORT FRAME.
Choose JPEG, TIFF, or PNG and give it a name.
You can then use this photo in Photoshop, Pixelmator, Acorn, or the app of your choice to add text.
Here is a demo I made the other day for how to extract the still image using MPEG Streamclip.

  • My Iphone 4s automatically synced when I started ITunes. When it did this it saved all of my pictures on my computer to my phone. How do I reverse this and take the pictures back off of my iPhone?

My Iphone 4s automatically synced when I started ITunes. When it did this it saved all of my pictures on my computer to my phone. How do I reverse this and take the pictures back off of my iPhone?

Yeah, my iPhone 4S sometimes manages to connect to wifi for about 10 minutes now. I think there is a problem related with the antenna because when the phone heats up, the WIFI stops working. I had a similar experience with my older iPhone 4S which I bought from the U.S.A. (unlocked version) but after a couple of days, WIFI icon grayed out and I wasn't able to switch it on and off. Now the phone I'm using was bought in Turkey from a local carrier, (it's not locked I suppose) I'm planning on upgrading to an iPhone 6 and I will try to get my 4S repaired. I hope it is something related with software rather than hardware. Because a friend of mine sent his phone to the local Apple store to be fixed, they sent the phone back claiming that they had repaired it. But in about 2 days, the phone shut itself down and never turned off back again lol. I don't want to experience the same thing. But anyway, thanks for your answer. At least now I know that I'm not the only one that has this problem .

  • Can I capture a still image from a quicktime movie?

Can I capture a still image from a quicktime movie?

Yes. But how you do it depends on your version of quicktime.
If you have the pro version, you can easily use the "Export" option to output the video as a series of images.
For the basic version of quicktime, or if you want to quickly take make a still image of a single frame, you could just use the "Grab" application in OSX to take a screen shot.

  • Why is the camera such poor quality to take still pictures.

I have been trying other a
Apps to see if the quality of the still shots can get better.
No such luck. It just looks like a grainy picture.
Is there anything that can make this take good still pictures?
Especially for the price you pay for one of these things?

Yes I must admit the camera on the Iphone is very good.
Yes the Ipad is well bait big to hold in the palm of your hand so to speak.
But it would be nice to be able to take a quick snap if a picture becomes apparent.
It would have been nice to have the Iphone camera in the Ipad2.
Oh well just have to be disappointed about this feature.
Question to any one. Is there an app that allows you to take a picture from a movie you made on the Ipad2 at all?
As the camera picture is clear enough for me when I pause it.
    Thanks

  • Can you pull a still picture off of video

Can you pull a still photo off of a video in any program on MAC's?

Yes.  Put the video on pause at the place where you want to take a "still" photo.  Then take a screen shot by using the cross hair option - Apple/Shift/4 or use the "Grab" app which is inside your Utility folder.

  • Why can't I take a picture while recording video on iPhone 4S with iOS 6.0

I have an iPhone 4S running iOS 6.0 and I've read the user guide, but cannot seem to get it to take a picture while recording video.

    1. Open the camera app.
    2. Move the slider from in the bottom right from photo to video.
    3. Begin recording your video.
    4. While your video is recording, tap the camera icon in the upper right to take a photo.
    5. You'll see the shutter close on your screen each time you snap a photo.
    6. Your photos will be saved to your camera roll.
    Edit:
Just noticed you have a 4S...iPhone 5 only, sorry.

Your system board is compatible with:
the following  Intel Core2 Duo processors (2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB):
    T5900 2.2-GHz processor
    T5800 2.0-GHz processor
    Intel Core2 Duo processors (3-MB L2 cache, 1066-MHz FSB):
    P8600 2.4-GHz processor
    P8400 2.26-GHz processor
    P7350 2.0-GHz processor
Intel Core2 Duo processors 6-MB L2 cache, 1066-MHz front bus (FSB)):
    T9400 2.53-GHz processor
    T9600 2.8-GHz processor
Your notebook has BIOS support for more processors than most do. You chose wisely.

  • In iMovie '09, how can I capture a still picture from the video?

I have a movie that i got into iMove and I did edit it down and make a nice video from it I uploaded to YouTube. I want to know if there is any easy way to get stills from the video. when I run my cursor over the movie and get it on a person that I want to make into a still photograph is there a way to get that single piece out?
If I locate the part of the film I want as a still then try and do a screen capture, when i move the cursor to do the capture the pic in the movie changes as I move the cursor. (hope i'm making sense).
So is there a way to grab a single frame?
    Susan

Two ways to get a still:
    1) In project, move cursor to the frame. Right-click/add freeze frame. The Freeze frame is placed right behind the current clip in the project.
    2) Select a frame in an Event. Right-click/Add still frame to project. The still is added to the project at the end.
(after doing either 1 or 2, continue with step 3)
    3) Right-click on the still frame in your project. Select "Reveal in Finder". Drag the JPEG file that you see and drop it on the iPhoto icon in the Dock.
Hint: You can create a new project just for the stills. This way you will not clutter up an existing project.

  • I have an older MBP that I purchased in 2006. I'd like to upgrade to Mountain Lion. Can this machine take that OS? Intel Core Duo running 10.6.8

The issue is, I teach photography and just downloaded Lightroom 4.
Well, LR4 won't run on the older OS. So, before I try to download Mountain Lion, I need to know if it will work on this computer or is it simply too old.
    Thanks

OS X Lion and Mountain Lion are 64-bit operating systems, and the Intel Core Duo is a 32-bit processor, so you can't use Lion and Mountain Lion on your computer. Mac OS X Snow Leopard is the most recent version for your computer.
As I can see, you are running Mac OS X Leopard, so buy Snow Leopard. Then, make a backup of your data, insert the DVD and upgrade OS X. When the upgrade finishes, open  > Software Update to update to the most recent version, so you will be using 10.6.8

  • WHEN USING FACETIME, THE OTHER PERSON CAN SEE AND HEAR ME BUT I CANT HEAR THEM AND THEIR VIDEO IS A STILL PICTURES.. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY ANSWERS???

When using Facetime.. the other person can see and hear me, but I can't hear or see them.. Does anyone have any solutions?? The only thing I can see is a still picture of them

    Hi mduggan,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If the other person can't see you during a FaceTime call, first use the Camera app on the iPhone to make sure the camera is working properly. If you don't see an image when using the Camera app, try these troubleshooting steps first:
If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
Cases can interfere with the camera and the flash. Try gently cleaning the lens with a clean dry cloth or removing the case if you see image or color-quality issues with photos.
Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.
You can find these steps and more information here:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
If the camera is working normally, next troubleshoot FaceTime using the steps in this article:

    All the best,
    Jeremy

  • CS4 Pro I lose my still pictures

I'm working on a project where I am adding pictures inbetween my subject talking.  I "unlink" a portion of my subject talking, and I stick in a still picture of what he is talking about. I have all my pictures for this one project saved on my desktop to make it easier for me to find them.  If I move these pictures to a different location (my hard drive) or create a file to store them in, I lose the pictures when  go back into my project.  I now have to add all those pictures back in.
How can I save my still pictures so this doesn't happen, and is there a way I can click a button to have my pictures reappear in my project?  Right now, I have the red Asian picture.

I agree with Harm on the setup of your Project. In very general terms, I will create a folder for each of my Projects - one per Project. Beneath this "root" folder, I always create Still Images*, Captures, Video, Audio, Music, SFX, Artwork, etc. If I am working with existing Assets, Copies of these are added to the appropriate folders, and the originals are kept on my archival storage, like my NAS. The exception to this is my Captures from tape, which are the original Captured files, but then I never recycle my tapes, so I could always re-Capture, should I need to. It is all right there.
In PrPro, I create Bins with those same names, plus Titles and Timelines. When I Import, it's into the appropriate Bin. When I create (Timelines and Titles) they are created in those Bins.
I also like Harm's suggestion to Overlay your Video with the still images, and leave the Audio untouched.
Good luck, and hope that this helps,
    Hunt
    * for larger jobs, I might have sub-sub-folders for say Still Images>1900-1926 & then 1926-1958, or I might create sub-sub-folders by maybe Sequence name.
