Can too many apps do this??
I have a custom firmware delight v1.5 anna by niconi_ash. when i first installed this firmware I had 245mb free in C drive. After installing 90 apps (ALL on E drive) and using v1.5 for about 6 months, i realized that my C drive has dropped to approximately 108mb free at startup. so my questions are:
1) is this normal to lose this many MB from the C drive even though I install all my apps to the E drive?
2) is there any way to clear up the C drive back to how it was (WITHOUT a hard reset) by maybe re-installing the custom firmware??
3) if i re-install the CFW v1.5, i should not have to re-install all my apps correct? but in doing so, will the C drive return to 245mb?
Though deleting the 'Cache' content should be fine...It will be dangerous to delete other files provided you are certain that these are junk files. If you have un-installed some applications but see any trace of that in the 'C' memory, you may delete them. e.g. I had uninstalled the 'Sports Tracker' application from my phone but a Folder with that name was still present on 'C', and I had to delete that manually.

I was told that my Mac has to work extra hard because there are too many apps and/or programs open in the background. How can one tell what is open?? It must be something which is not normally visible to the user??
HansThanks, I have looked at that several times but I can't detect any one item which would indicate overusage. The small chart (indicator bars) are much on the low side and the onse which show are basically green? Not sure what the person at the Genius Bar saw so I'm somewhat puzzled.

just a quick thing. I saw a genius today, because like many of you, i'm not only dealing with antenna issues but also have some really bad proximity sensor stuff. I mean, seriously, i've done three way calls, face timed everyone, end calls of 50-60 percent of my calls, searched maps, made new contacts, etc. all with my face! rrrgggg but what i was more puzzled about was what the genius told me was,
"you have no memory because there are too many apps running in the background" when i questioned and said, didn't steve say, "if you have to think about it, you've done it wrong" yet now i'm having issues with my phone, it is because of the multitasking? does this make any sense...it didn't to me. does he not know what he is talking about....or if he is right, there is nothing i can do about it right? he said there isn't a way to turn multi tasking off, just have manually quit programs.........any advice onto if he is correct...john2049 wrote:

The genius is incorrect. The apps that are suspended in the background are told to release memory, and if there is a shortage of memory or they don't comply as required they will be terminated at will by the OS (freeing memory). This is all done behind the scenes and will not cause you any memory issues. And the upside is you can switch to them much faster.
Shorter version: memory not an issue with background tasks. -
Is anyone having issues with playing videos? I'm having errors stating too many apps opened and need to close some.
I have the standard number of apps preloaded but I checked I have 79 apps? Is this due to having apps loaded to QNX and andriod player? How can I resolve this?

Under model, OS version and Serial #.. you will see the # of apps which is more than what you see at my app world.. -
Does having too many apps (like more than 100) affect the iPod Touch 5g's battery
So with today being the App Store's 5 year anniversary, there are a LOT of top notch apps becoming free, which I have wanted.
However this worries me - can having too many apps downloaded affect my iPod Touch 5g's performance & battery life?

iPod Touch 5g 32gb, just got it two days ago.
iI already have over 70 appsI say they will only adversely effect performance and battery life if the apps do things when the apps are completely shut down. By shutdown I mean the app are not in the recently used row when yo double click the Homne button. By doing something I mean that sme apps are always checking for things like when you get a notification.

How much can too many imports slow applet inititialization down?
I have seen our company's sorce code for some huge applets they have written. In many, many cases, the imports at the beginning of each file are written something like this...

import javax.swing.event.*;Only certain portion of these imports are actually used. Does this sort of thing really impact the applets loading speed? I know it will obviously take at least a little longer but will the user even notice?You are not actually importing the classes, but rather making the names of the classes available.

Iplanet MS 5.2 Too many failures to this host during this run skipping ...
Hello every body,
I'm DBA (Oracle) and I've been replacing a System Administrator who left suddenly the company, I work on iplanet messaging server 5.2
The company use a domain like email.company.xx it's the server root so we can send and receive without probleme
when we send from others domains which are hosted by this server we can't receive, I've tried whith outlook then I've received automatically Spams.
In the log file
1/ when I try from the domain root to another domain (in the same server) I have "initial status response expected"
2/ when I try from a domain to the same domain (not the root) I have "Too many failures to this host during this run; skipping this host: Try again later"
I thought of the tcp_local config, I checked imta.cnf but nothing.
How do I resolve this problem

There will be no further bug fixes for 5.2, 6.0, and 6.1, but you can still open support cases about them. The "last bug fix" date for 6.2 is this month, June 2010.
The "Too many failures to this host during this run; skipping this host: Try again later" error means what it says: there have been too many previous failures trying to relay messages to this host, so the message is being put back in the queue to be retried later. So you need to look at what those failures were.
The "initial status response expected" error means that the smtp_client process on this system connected to the TCP port on the remote MTA but never received the "banner". So you need to look at what is happening on that remote system or in the network. Perhaps there is a firewall in between? You could use something like snoop to see what is happening at the TCP level. But...
You describe the messages having this problem as being "from domain to the same domain" and the mail.log_current info you provided shows it is from "[email protected]" to "[email protected]" and that it came in on the tcp_intranet channel and was enqueued to the tcp_local channel.
I wonder why mail for a user in some other domain is coming from that user and going thru your system. Is that your own domain and this is an MTA system rather than a message store system?
You could try setting LOG_CONNECTION=3 in option.dat (and do imsimta cnbuild; and imsimta restart job_controller). On current versions, that will give more information about the connection attempts. But I do not know if 5.1 had that option. If that option works on 5.1, it will give you the hostname it is trying to connect to. Then you can investigate either on that host or the network. -
Too Many Apps Resuming on Startup
Hey so I'm having an issue that's seriously driving me crazy. Here are the symptoms:
-When I restart or shut down/turn on my computer, way too many apps are opening. Like I quit some apps, continue using my computer, eventually restart it, and the apps I quit re-open, even though they were not running when Lion shut down.
NOTE: This happens even if I uncheck "Re-open windows when logging back in"!! It still opens up all my apps again!
-When I do things in apps like sticky notes such as creating new notes/editing existing notes and then quit the application, it opens from the state it started at (all new notes dissapear, edited notes revert).
-I open apps such as minecraft, and it loses all it's saved data and reverts me to a save I made like a week ago, but all future saves are gone.
-In system preferences, if I uncheck "restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps", then exit out of system prefs, when I open it back up it's checked again.
-I also tried turning Number of Recent Items: Applications to "Never" and when I restarted this was back to 10.
My Computer:
Macbook Pro (May 2011)
i5 Processor
8GB Ram
OSX Lion (latest version)
Does anyone know what's going on?

31 apps is nothing. I have 130 apps XD. Then again, I'm using an iPhone 4S which has more RAM compared to the 3GS. RAM is everything when it comes to speed. To use the app switcher, press the home button twice quickly and a list of your recently opened apps will appear. Then hold down on any app and all the apps will go to wiggle mode (like they do when you're deleting apps. Now, simply tap on the red icon that appears at the top left corner of any app you don't want running in the background. This will free up RAM and should make your phone faster.

421 4.4.5 Too many messages from this host last hour
Hi, we are in a migration process from a Kerio system to Exchange 2013.
Everything is working fine, except that we have been experiencing this error on the logs and the Exchange 2013 users are getting returned emails.
The remote server is 10.10.10.85
Remote Server at 10.10.10.85 (10.10.10.85) returned '400 4.4.7 Message delayed'
19/12/13 7:21:57 p. m. - Remote Server at 10.10.10.85 (10.10.10.85) returned '451 4.4.0 Primary target IP address responded with: "421 4.4.5 Too many messages from this host last hour." Attempted failover to alternate host, but that did not succeed.
Either there are no alternate hosts, or delivery failed to all alternate hosts. The last endpoint attempted was 10.10.10.85:25'
My question is, is Exchange rejecting the messages or is the other system telling Exchange to slow things a bit?To update this.
We found out that the other email system was configured NOT to accept more than 100 messages per hour from same sending IP.
Once we removed the configuration value from the other email system, all started working. -

anyone know what this is? too many recipients this hour?To follow up on Poesjkin's message, that error text is exactly what an IronPort ESA will give when it applies rate limiting. If the receiving MTA is indeed an IronPort ESA, then that drastically narrows the likely reasons for the rate limiting. The most likely reason is that your sending ESA has an IP address with a poor SenderBase reputation, or has no reputation at all. Another good possibility is that that IP address fails the address->name->address double-lookup DNS verification. Try investigating those and see what you come up with.
