Can TREX search without KM business package ?

Hi All,
We want to use TREX (6.1 >sp14) to search HR data within R/3 (4.7) from within a portal (6 sp2 on was640) using the Who's Who iview but don't want the KM bp installed.
Is this possible ?
If it is, can anyone provide links to documentation - blogs or threads or help files. 'How To' documents would be especially appreciated.

The Who's Who iView uses a TREX index within KM - working on the UME repository within KM.

I configured the business package so that I can browse through the different crm folder, but I can not add them to a trex index. When I add the folder "sapcrm" (described in the install guide) to an index, no documents are found.
I am using Business Package for SAP CRM 4.0 60.2.3

Hi, I want modifying the content of a business package . I Know that a business package is a set of iviews. ¿Is there some way to do it?. I want modifying the business package MSS, Specifically the iviews for ECM (Enterprise Compensation Management). I have understood that it source code is not delivered. ¿How can i do it?

Hi,
If you want the source, you can open the .sca file with winzip, extract the .sda file of the component you want, and then open that .sda file with winzip again.
However, there is no direct way of importing those sources into a WD for Java project (though it can be done if you follow the structure of existing WD for Java project in NWDS).

Can TREX search extern LDAP?

Hi guys,
I am planning to search an external LDAP with TREX (running on Java Web AS 6.40) and view the result in SAP EP 6.0 SP 14.
But so far I did not find a Repository Manager (=> System Administration => System Configuration => Knowledge Management => Content Management => Repository Managers) which seems to fit.
That comes fairly surprising, considering that TREX can search UME which may be based on a LDAP server. There should be a way to search external LDAP servers as well.
<b>Does anyone know how to search an external LDAP with TREX. Please let me know.</b>

Can two releases of MSS business packages coexist ?

Hello Friends:
We are using MSS buss.pack release 60.1.2 which is Java
based, and with in that we want to use some functionality
related to Performance Management of employee which are
not present. But they are available in the release 60.1.5
which is Web DynPro based.
Can we use these releases together ?
If 'YES', how can we configure them at portal and backend HR systems ?

We found that they can coexist.
Since one is Java based, it's content is loaded in to
EP50 migrated content folder under 'Portal Content folder'
The other one which is Web DynPro based one didn't put any
content in the portal content folder at all, all the Web
DynPro content stays in the WAS server.
Regarding the back end configuration, we went on creating
the usual 'system' objects etc..,

We have a newly installed Portal 7.3 without any Business Packages installed in it.
My Questions are,
1. If i go with same backend ECC 6 Ehp 4 with Portal 7.3, than what are all the BP's that i have to deploy?
2. Can i go with same Business packages   those i am using currently with Portal 7.01?
3. How to migrate my ESS and MSS apps (customized apps NWDI )from Portal 7.01 to 7.3
4. in future if we upgarde our backend to EHP 5 than what happens to WD java Application. i come to know that ESS application are totally built on WD ABAP for EHP5
Please help me out to determine the correct Business packages for my requirement.

BP's depends upon what all functionality you want to use. e.g If you are using ESS/MSS then you need to deploy BP's for ESS/MSS.

You should install latest version of BP's on NW 7.3 like for ESS/MSS latest version is 1.51.

You need to migrate all these customization manually as PAR files are not more supported for NW 7.3.

It depends upon you. If you want to use ESS/MSS for web dynpro ABAP then you need to install BP of ESS for web dynpro ABAP but if you don't want to use web dynpro then you can use same way as you are doing currently.

Assets or Products business packages message : NO_FIELDS_DEFINED

We have installed the business packages for assets and Products 50.3 .
After installing we get on the Portal the message:
NO_FIELDS_DEFINED
Do we have to do any customization on the SAP 4.6
after installing the packages ?

a very quick way to access the documentation of any Business Package is to go to the Portal Content Portfolio here on SDN at https://www.sdn.sap.com/sdn/contentportfolio.sdn.
You can search for the Business Package when you go to the Search Portfolio link.
The detailed for a package will contain the link to the online documentation as well as the pdf version for download.

CProjects - Business Package setup

Just a quick one - Is it necessary to install the java component (CPRXRPM_UI) if you donot intend to use xrpm in the 4.0 release.
Or can we just import the business package in the portal to use cprojects on top of the backend installation.

Problems with user mapping to download ESS Business Package for EP 6.0

Hi,
I am trying to download ESS Business Package for EP 6.0 but facing problems inspite of reading the SAP document on downloading Business Package. Here is my problem:
I start to download the package and to map the user ids. I am mapping the SDN user id to a SAP Service Marketplace user id as mentioned in the SDN website. But the download option is not working and gave an error when I clicked on the 'Download' link after user mapping.
It would help me a lot if anyone else who tried to download BPs after user mapping gave their feedback.
Can someone please clarify about the user ids and describe how can I download the ESS Business Package?

Hi,
from the description you provide I can't tell what the problem might be, so to determine the cause we need more information on this. Screenshots of the error message would be ideal.
In general, the following needs to be done:
- you need to be signed in at SDN with your Service Marektplace s user id
- the user mapping for the data source 'Service Marketplace' needs to be maintained

We are using SAP Content server to store our Documents from GOS and also the same Content server is used for maintaining our Documents through DMS also,
so as a standard, Trex cannot search documents maintained in content server by GOS methord and it can only search those documents which are maintained by DMS CV01N method,
pls suggest how to proceed for the development to allow Trex to search all the documents in Content server, how big is the development, is there any SAP suggested solution to be followed,

Need to know the Business Package for CRM4.0 Sales in EP6.0

Hi experts,
We are trying to implement the CRM4.0 Sales business package in our EP6.0 environment( Our Backend R/3 is in 4.6B) . We would like to install complete package for the Sales module (The main (Top level) menus in the portal look like the following ==>
Activities.. Account Management ... Acquisition.. Sales .. Products.. Analysis..   Home.. R/3 Integration .. CRM integration .. APO integration..
Below every top level menus there are sub menus.. For example under Sales we would have the folliwng ( Overview.. Quotation.. Orders .. Contracts.. Billing Documents )
In the list of package from CRM (available in the SDN) the following looks like the currect one, can anybody advice please.
Business Package for SAP CRM 4.0     60.2.3   SAP AG   Unrestricted Shipment.
However, since we are only interested about the Sales Portion only can we choose to import content that is relevant only to the CRM SALES as well as CRM SALES analytics and not anything else? If it's possible the what is the procedure? If not then I assume that we will have to import the entire content and activate only the portion that we need. Please advice.

Hi Arun,
When u download and apply a busiiness pacakge u will get the complete package.
After appling the bussiness package u will get a report showing whcih all roles worksets etc are added to the portal. And also In portal contants there will be a folder created. There u can see the roles , worksets pages iviews etc.
You can edit the role and put the desired iviews or pages according to u r demand.

Read the log file(generated after importing the BP) it will give u all the information abt the contents that are uploaded to the portal server.

Business packages support packages for specific languages?

If i have one business package and i want to implement it in a language which is not mentioned in the languages list given in the documentation for that business package.
Are there in anyn support packages of business packages for specific languages?
If yes where i can get these information?

Business packages for BW Reports

Hi,
Are there business packages for all the standard BW Content reports?.I have found some in sdn.sap.com...like sales analysis, inventory analysis...etc.Can we use one single business package(ex:sales analysis) partially....?

Hello Navakanth,
There is no need to upload any business package for <b>standard BW reports</b>.
You can generate BW reports and display them on portal by making BW iView.
Business packages are basically predeveloped contents, say template provided by SAP to save development time and effort.
If you want to use them then you need to have those Business packages.
Otherwise it is not at all mandatory for developing standard reports.

Business packages for Project systems

i,
I wanted to know if there is a business package for Project systems which include transactions like CJ20N, CN33, CN41N, DP81,VA23, VA25. I checked in SDN Portal content portfolio and found there is a BP for Projects 5.3 and BP for Project self service. I checked out the content which is present but not sure whether it suits my requirements.
Appreciate if any one can point to the right Business package.
