Can two ipads share the same icloud account

hello. My wife and i recently added a second ipad to our household (his and hers). We would like to share the same icloud account fior photo streaming and music and such, but want to have our seperate emails, contacts and calendars on each ipad. Is this possible without having to create seperate icloud accounts?

Don't understand what you are trying to do.
You said 2 iPads using the same iCloud acoount, are you try to switch to another iCloud account?
Then you need to delete the one you have on iPad. Deleting iPad iCloud account do not delete the content in iCloud. You will be asked.

  • HT4865 So who believes Apple should be a bit more cautionary about the sharing of iMessages and other content when several members of a family share the same iCloud account and unknowing can audit each other's iMessages, Contacts, and god only knows what

I think Apple should be a bit more cautionary about iCloud and privacy.  My family shares the same iCloud account as we all enjoy the music we collectively purchase on iTunes; we paid Apple for this feature with some kind of grouped account.  We didn't know, however that this joins our devices so that iMessages, contacts, pictures and just about everything else is shared too.  The unprivate default seems to be to share everything between all devices vs. to allow access by exception or by choice (or by password?).  Sure, when my kids get all my texts I can go figure out why and fix it but that is in my mind the antithesis of privacy and could be quite embarrassing for any family.  I guess it is good for stalking the kids or parents though if they don't know about the partyline approach to privacy.  Maybe a tech solution would be to have the iPhone show somehow the extent of its audience to its user.

No argument from me about the vagaries of using and sharing Apple IDs.  This can lead to unintended consequences, especially in a family situation.
If you're sharing the same ID for FaceTime, you might want to go to Settings>FaceTime, tap the ID, sign out, then sign in with separate IDs there too.  Otherwise, you'll end up getting each other's FaceTime calls.
Also, if you need to migrate everyone's devices to separate iCloud accounts to keep your synced data separated, you can do this by saving any photo stream photos you wish to keep to your camera roll (unless already there) by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tapping the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow), then tapping Save to Camera Roll.  If you are syncing notes with iCloud, you'll need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself so you can later copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account.  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account (which only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud), choose Keep on My iDevice and provide the password to turn off Find My iPhone.  Then sign back in with a different Apple ID to create your new account and choose Merge to upload your data.  Once everyone's devices are on separate accounts, you can go to icloud.com and delete each other's data from your accounts.

  • HT5621 Me and my daughter are using the same Apple id and we share the same iCloud account. I want to change her Apple id so that she will have her own icliid account and I will have mine. how do I do it?

Me and my daughter are using the same Apple id and we share the same iCloud account. I want to change her Apple id so that she will have her own icloud account and I will have mine.
    1. how do I do it?
    2. how do I  transfer her stuff which is in my icloud storage to her new icloud account once this one is created?
    thanks,
    Ari

To migrate her device to a new account, start by saving any photo stream photos she wants to keep to her amera roll (unless already there) by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tapping the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow, then tapping Save to Camera Roll.  If she is syncing notes with iCloud, you'll need to open each of the notes and email them to her so she can later copy and paste the text into new notes created in her new account.  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account (which only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud), choose Keep on My iDevice and provide the password to turn off Find My iPhone.  Then sign back in with a different Apple ID to create her new account and choose Merge to upload the data.
Once you are on separate accounts you can each go to icloud.com from a computer and delete the other person's data from your account.

  • How many devices can be added to the same iCloud account?

    Hello
I would like to know the maximum number of mobile devices than can be used with the same iCloud account?
All devices are running with iOS 8.1.2

    Hi Emilie87,
It sounds like what you are asking is addressed in this article.
Manage your associated devices in iTunes - Apple Support
When you turn on iTunes Match, Family Sharing, or Automatic Downloads, or when you download past purchases on your computer, iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, that device becomes associated with your Apple ID. You can associate your Apple ID with up to 10 devices, with a maximum of 5 computers at any time. Each computer must also be authorized using the same Apple ID. You don't need to authorize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
After you associate a device with your Apple ID, you can't associate that device with another Apple ID for 90 days.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.

  • Can two people share the same Apple ID on two different iPhones and maintain different passwords?  Yes, there is more to the story.

I have an iMac, and iPhone.  I've had my Apple ID for a few years.
My wife got an iPhone 4S a few months back and the salesperson at Verizon set her Apple ID the same as mine, but gave her a different password.  I don't know if this was ok, but that is what happened.
So, yesterday, we both upgraded to IOS6 and I had no problem logging in to my iPhone with my Apple ID.  When my wife went to log in, she was told that she was entering the wrong password. We entered the password over and over again and still was wrong.
The question is... can two people share the same Apple ID on two different iPhones and maintain different passwords?  (I have the feeling her iPhone is thinking that since it's my Apple ID, it wants my password.)
If not, can I still set up a new Apple ID for her even through she's had the iPhone for a few months?
    Thanks.

    Hi
You shold follow your feelings, its probably right most of the time.
You can have 5 different devices hucked upp to one Apple ID. What I have done is that my wife and I have one Apple ID, when I bye a new app on my phone, She gets it to. Thats nice.
You can allways set upp a new Apple ID for your wife.

  • Can two iPhones share the same apple id?

I have a white iPhone 4 and i just bought a new black iPhone 4. Can I activiate the new black iPhone 4 and use the same apple id on both of them? Will all the music be shared? Can I have access to the account on both phones?

No. The only information that may be transferred between the two is music, apps, or books if automatic downloads are turned on within Settings>iTunes and App Stores. However if you use the same Apple ID for iCloud on both devices they will share whatever information you share with iCloud. For instance if you have different contacts on both phones and use the same iCloud account with both of them they will then show a combination of the two contact libraries on both phones. So if you add a contact to one iPhone it will add the same contact to the other. The same goes with deleting contacts as well. Hope this helps.

  • 2 iPads on the same iCloud account.  Duplicate apps?

I have 2 new iPad Airs that are both on the same iCloud account. The problem I am having is that if I install an app on one iPad, it is automatically installed on the other. Is there a way to disable this feature? I have looked through "Settings" and can't find anything that addresses this issue. I am new to iOS, so this might be a stupid question. I just haven't come across a solution. Thanks, in advance, for any help/advice anyone could offer.

This happens because "Automatic Downloads" are enabled in both iPads, so you only need to disable them.
On those iPads, go to Settings > iTunes and App Stores, and disable the options you need under "Automatic Downloads". If you do not want to sync any purchase, disable all these options.

  • How can I import photos from photo stream to windows photo gallery? These photos are not on the camera roll on my iPad but are from another iPad on the same iCloud account.

I work at a Learning Center that has 12 iPads on the same iTunes and iCloud account.  Each classroom uses an iPad assigned to their room to take photos.  Each of these photos then shows up in the Photo Stream in all 11 of the other iPads.  I have no trouble importing photos that are in the Camera Roll of any individual iPad, but I have not been able to import photos from the Photo Stream if the picture was not taken on the specific iPad I am using.  It is not feasible for me to collect all 12 iPads everyday to import everyones photos, so how can I use one "master" iPad that will let me import photos from the Photo Stream since it has all the photos that everyone has taken?

You downloaded an iCloud backup to your PC?  I assume you mean you downloaded your photo stream to your PC.  What you may not know is that photo stream only keeps your photos for 30 days.  After that, they are deleted from photo stream but not from any device that already has them (such as your phone).  When you enabled photo stream on your PC you only had access to photos from the last 30 days since the others are no longer there, even though they remain on your phone.
To transfer these to your computer at this point you have two options:
Save them to the camera roll on your phone (by opening the my photo stream album, tap Edit, tap all the photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll.  (You can only import photos to your computer from the Camera Roll album.)  Then import them to your computer as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083; or
Use an app like PhotoSync, which can wirelessly transfer photos from any album between your devices/computers, including the my photo stream album.
In the future, always import your photos from your camera roll to your computer via USB before deleting them.  Don't rely on photo stream or your iCloud backup to save your photos.

  • HT201269 can i sync two ipads to the same itunes account

Getting an ipad 4 to replace original ipad, but want to keep both "in-sync" together, can this be done with the same itunes account?
    Jo

I have an iPod Touch and two iPads and I was syncing them all to the same iTunes library. I use the same Apple ID on both devices.
Transfer all purchases from the original iPad into iTunes, backup the iPad and sync with iTunes. Then when you set up the new iPad, restore from the backup of the original iPad and sync with iTunes - and both iPads will be identical. The only thing that you will have to do on the new iPad is to enter all of your passwords since they will not restore to a new device from the backup of another device.
    Transfer purchases.

You can use iCloud to keep all documents, reminders, calendar events, bookmarks, etc. in sync as well. If you go to Settings>iTunes and App Stores and turn on automatic downloads, you can download apps, music and books to both devices and keep those "in sync" as well.

  • Can two people share the same library?

I installed a new mac mini which we're planning on using as a media hub and as a machine to sync my iphone from.  I want to have a "Server" login on it just for itunes to run the backend for Apple TV.  However, I'd also like my itunes library on my "Personal" login.  Can I share the same library betwixt the two (if put into the Shared folder?) or do I have to set it up in my Personal and then share it to the Server login?  If I do that, don't I have to login to both and run itunes before it'll work?  I'd like to avoid anything like that because I travel often and want something my family can leave on and reboot easily while I'm away, without giving my kids access to my Personal login.

  • How do I set up two phones with the same Icloud account

I have 2 Iphones for my daughters and want to use the same Itunes account and Icloud account but when I set it up on the 2nd phone it uploaded the other phones contacts and the new phone is receiving the 1st phones text message.  do you have to set up a separate Icloud account to prevent this from happening?

Phone A = phone with information you want duplicated
Phone B = phone that you want to copy from A
    Backup Phone A.
Wipe Phone B using these instructions. What to do before selling or giving away your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
Phone B should be on the 'Hello' screen. Do not swipe it. Launch iTunes. Plug in Phone B.
When iTunes asks if you want to set up as new phone or restore from backup, choose restore from backup of Phone A.
After this setup, any changes to one phone (i.e. adding a contact, downloading an app) will have to be manually duplicated on the second phone, if that is your desire). Making changes to one phone will not affect the other after setup.
