Can two people share an icloud account keeping their info separate

can two people share an icloud account keeping their info separate

No: iCloud is intended for use by one person to keep their Macs and devices in sync. Anyone signed into the account has access to all its data. Separate people should have separated iCloud accounts, and separate user accounts on their Mac(s).

Can two people combine their icloud information if they have different Apple IDs?  Or is a common ID necessary?

You need the same Apple ID to have the same information (you can't mix it if you don't want to mess everything in one Apple ID)

  • Can two people share an iMatch account?

My partner and I have our own iPads and iMacs, I also have a MacBook for work. The iTunes account is mine, and we would like to be able to share the iMatch for our music so we can share our libraries and both access the music stored in the cloud. Can we do this? There is not an obvious way of achieving this, so not sure if this is Apple wanting us to have our own Match accounts or if we physically cannot do this, even with the shared device option or one of us logging into the other's account?
    Any ideas?

  • Can two people share the same Apple ID on two different iPhones and maintain different passwords?  Yes, there is more to the story.

I have an iMac, and iPhone.  I've had my Apple ID for a few years.
My wife got an iPhone 4S a few months back and the salesperson at Verizon set her Apple ID the same as mine, but gave her a different password.  I don't know if this was ok, but that is what happened.
So, yesterday, we both upgraded to IOS6 and I had no problem logging in to my iPhone with my Apple ID.  When my wife went to log in, she was told that she was entering the wrong password. We entered the password over and over again and still was wrong.
The question is... can two people share the same Apple ID on two different iPhones and maintain different passwords?  (I have the feeling her iPhone is thinking that since it's my Apple ID, it wants my password.)
If not, can I still set up a new Apple ID for her even through she's had the iPhone for a few months?
    Thanks.

    Hi
You shold follow your feelings, its probably right most of the time.
You can have 5 different devices hucked upp to one Apple ID. What I have done is that my wife and I have one Apple ID, when I bye a new app on my phone, She gets it to. Thats nice.
You can allways set upp a new Apple ID for your wife.

  • Can 2 people share an email account but have 2 seperate itune accounts?

Can 2 people who have seperate Itune accounts, share an email address?

You can't have seperate email addresses with one iCloud account, however, you can use one iCloud account as the master account with all your contacts, calendars etc in it, then add a second iCloud account and only used the email part of it.

  • Can two people share the same library?

I installed a new mac mini which we're planning on using as a media hub and as a machine to sync my iphone from.  I want to have a "Server" login on it just for itunes to run the backend for Apple TV.  However, I'd also like my itunes library on my "Personal" login.  Can I share the same library betwixt the two (if put into the Shared folder?) or do I have to set it up in my Personal and then share it to the Server login?  If I do that, don't I have to login to both and run itunes before it'll work?  I'd like to avoid anything like that because I travel often and want something my family can leave on and reboot easily while I'm away, without giving my kids access to my Personal login.

    Hi chris brian,
If you are looking to share the same iTunes library between multiple user accounts on the same Mac, you may find the following article helpful:

  • How can two people share an iTunes library?

Here is the deal, I have just purchased a new laptop which I am sharing with my girlfriend. She has an iPhone and i have an iPod nano and will be soon getting an iPhone. I have an iTunes account and so does she. I have movies and music that I would like to put on both iPhones. How can I accomplish this when even by authorizing the new laptop for both accounts doesnt work?

I am taking this slowly so I have not added my iTunes music to the new laptop yet until I figure out how to make it work. But I have just downloaded a digital copy of The Dark Knight and when I log on to my girlfriends user and open iTunes, the video is not there. When I log back into my user and connect her iPhone to iTunes, I am not allowed to drop in the movie. That is where I am at. I need to be able to add my stuff to her iPhone and her stuff to my iPhone without syncing and losing all info.

    Yes.

  • Can I share an icloud account with my wife but not share contacts?

My wife and I want to share the same icloud account. We both have iphones, and our contacts are getting messed up. Is there a way of storing our contacts separately? Or do I need to create a new icloud account for my wife? If so, how do I do that, as both our e-mail addresses are already linked to the existing appleID.

I personally would recommend to use two different Apple IDs/iCloud accounts for iCloud. And of course, you would still be able to share calendars, reminders and you could still set up "your" account as a secondary account on her device, so that she could also still access your email address.
To set up a new primary account, please go to Settings > iCloud > Delete Account (This would only delete the account from the device). Then create a new account here. After you set up her new account, you could add your account as a secondary iCloud account in "Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar > iCloud" and then activate just only Mail (and of course keep contacts turned off).

  • I have the iCloud Photo Library (Beta) turned on. The photos from my iPhone do get uploaded to the iCloud. The photos are then downloaded to my wife's iPhone (we share the iCloud account). How do I keep the photos from downloading to my wife's iPhone

I do not want all the photos from my iPhone downloading to my wife's iPhone from iCloud? We share an iCloud account. How can I prevent the download to my wife's iPhone from iCloud. .The "Upload to My Photo Stream" is turned off on my iPhone. . I am running 8.1.3.
I have a related question. In order to same space on my iPhone is there a way to upload the photos to the iCloud and then delete them from my iPhone.

The way to keep the photos from downloading to your wife's phone would be for her to go to Settings > iCloud > Photos > and turn off iCloud Photo Library. If that isn't an option, the other option would be for her to have her own Apple ID ( and possibly explore the new family sharing options https://www.apple.com/ios/whats-new/family-sharing/ )
Regarding the "related question" see the quotes below from iCloud Photo Library beta FAQ - Apple Support
Deleting a photo or video from your Photos app will also remove the item from iCloud Photo Library and from your iCloud storage allocation. Photos and videos you remove can be recovered from the Recently Deleted album for 30 days. After 30 days, your content will be removed from the Recently Deleted album.
If you want to reduce the space used by photos on your phone, rather than deleting them see the following:
How does iCloud Photo Library save space on my device?
If you turn on Optimize [device] Storage, iCloud Photo Library will automatically manage the size of your library on your iOS device, so you can make the most of your device's storage and access more photos than ever. iCloud Photo Library stores the original, high-resolution photos and videos in iCloud and can keep lightweight, device-optimized versions on each of your devices. As long as you have enough storage, recent photos and videos that you access the most will stay on your device at full resolution.
You can turn on Optimize [device] Storage from Settings > iCloud > Photos or Settings > Photos & Camera > iCloud Photo Library on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. You need an Internet connection to access an original photo or video that’s stored only in iCloud.

  • Can 2 iPhone 5's share an iCloud account for just photo stream?

Can my husband and I share an iCloud account for just sharing photos and iTunes?

I was going to suggest that one of you uses the account for everything, contacts, calendars, photo stream etc, the other uses the same account but just enables photo stream (so you are only sharing photo stream), they then log into another account (their own account) as a secondary account at settings > mail, contacts, calendars and enables everything they want to use (mail, contacts etc-thereby keeping them separate from the first user-secondary accounts don't have photo stream).
As I alluded to before the difficulty is documents, documents are only synced with primary accounts, so one of you could use document syncing or both of you could share your documents or indeed, neither of you could use it.
Not sure if the compromise over documents is acceptable to you.
