Can u please help with my huge Photo/Album/Folder Management Project?

Thanks for looking and happy holidays.
Using 1.5.2
I had all my photos under one external Hard Drive and most were not keyworded. I also have a very large folder (recovered) that I had to recover
lost images during a HD crash so they are simply in folders such as
Recovered/Folder1 and recovered/folder2 and so on...
Thus far....
I imported all my folders as a project (Pictures-All) into Apeture as well as the "Recovered" folder sucessfully. Each folder came under this project as it was in my External HD.
I did go into each "Recovered" folder and keyword the images, one by one.
Now...
What is the best way to organize this mess using Aperture to manage the entire library, i.e., all managed files, none referenced.
And how should I handle the yet to be filed under a project "Recovered" folder.
Should I do all this with Smart folders? If so, under a project? How?
I'm thinking that Smart folders are vitural, so as long as I have all my imported images keyworded they will fall into the smart folder and from now
on I keyword every single image. Am I on track?

Hi Tom,
Sounds like lots and lots of fun. More fun than you know what to do with!
First thing I would do is sort on image date, just in case you have dups. .... unless you know you haven't. Create an album and drag all images (or batches of) from projects and recovered to the album. Sort on image date. Deleting any dups. from the album will delete the master/version image from its project also.
Next I suggest you create a folder and project structure you desire.
Then sort/filter your recovered project on keyword. Select the group needed and drag to its destination project. Dragging from project to project will move the master/version images.
This should get you a long way down the path without too much fun (hopefully).

I am super tired of having to put all of my movies and music on the hard drive just to have it erased again. The products I am using are WD 4TB My Book and 2 TB My Passport external hard drives. When it happens, there is always an icon that reads, EFI, along with the My Book icon. Thank you for your assisstance.

Yes, you have WD software installed REMOVE IT !!
WD has warned its customers about their huge mistake that their software doesnt work on Mavericks and causes data loss.
(also dont use WD drives anymore)

Can you please help with Fancybox CSS?

Hello. Someone helped me a while back on creating fancybox boxes that generate pop out boxes with more content in them by clicking on them. Here is what they look like. I deleted a lot of the other content because it would just much everthing up. http://www.bestmarketingnames.com/default.php
Now that I've kind of figured it out I want to make changes to the CSS for these fancyboxes. For instance, I want to lower the margins on the top and bottom of these boxes. Anyway. When I try to edit the jquery.fancybox.css it says that they are "a remote files and can not be edited". So i downloaded the fancybox fancyapps program that gives me the coding but I have NO idea what to do now. I saved the default jquery.fancybox.css files into dreamweaver but im not sure if it's in the right place.
So what I am saying is that I need to change the sizing in the fancybox boxes in this link, but have no idea how to do it. Can someone please help?

Hey Nancy so everything seems to be working out until I hit another problem. So the website is basically set up but now when you click on the "Read More" and the fancy box pops out, it shifts the entire website to the right about 200px or so. The only browser where it doesn't do this is google chrome. I have no idea why this is happening. Do you have any suggestions on how to solve it? Can anyone please help with the 2.3 update in UK?

Can anyone please help? I have an unbranded x10 in the UK. PC companion constantly tells me my phone software is up to date (with android 2.1) so I cannot upgrade to 2.3. I've tried all the tips on the SE support page like deleting the database content and looking for the setting to update the phone next time it's connected which doesn't exist (very informative SE!). you cant set it up in your mail app on your iphone to my understanding... Microsoft did not make this easy, since it needs a plug in on your computer to work and does not use standard pop3 protocals. Blame Microsoft not Apple on this one

Help with importing huge photo collection

my brther switched to Mac and want to use iPhoto. His pohoto collection is about 40GB and many, many folders and subfolders. The structure of the folders and subfolders are like this example:
-X-mas     ->2009
               ->2010
               ->2011
Moto-trip ->Germany 2008 -> My photos
                                        -> Toms photos
                                        -> Mikes photos
               ->Switzerland 2009     -> My photos
                                                -> Brothers photos
etc...
Is there some possibility (maybe some script or 3rd app) of how to import all this pictures and for example automaticaly create Albums with subfolders in iPhoto?
Importing each subfolder would take days...
Any idea?
P.S.: He uses Mountain Lion and the latest iPhoto.

The structure you outline here is one for Files and not Photos. Using that structure in iPhoto is a bit pointless as it remains as limited in iPhoto as it is in the Finder.
iPhoto offers much more varied organisational opportunities, leveraging data that the file browser doesn't even know about - such as Exif and IPTC.
For Instance: anything date-based is done automatically based on the date and time of the Exif metadata in the Photos. So, Events are made this way, automatically. You can search by date using Smart Albums or the Calendar search in the search box: Therefore can easily find all the photos from any specific day, month, year, or in any time range using one of these tools.
If, in the example above, Tom and Mike have different cameras, then again you can sort these from each others with a simple Smart Album.
Next: Albums hold Photos. There is no such thing as a subfolder in Albums. You can have Folders. They can contain Albums nested Folders, which can also contain Albums.
As for importing folder tree: there's some stuff here that might help

Can you please help with iPhone 4 camera?

I am running ios 7 and have been for a few months with no problems. When I went to take a photo yesterday, I clicked on the Camera icon and a black screen with a white circle came on. I tapped the white circle (even though that's not usually what I see when I want to take a picture), and it VERY briefly clicked on but way before I could think to snap a picture, it clicked me out of Camera and back to the main screen with icons.
PLEASE help me figure this out! I use my phone, like many of us, for pictures almost every day.

Hello, What I do is I open Lightroom 5.3 and go to 'Help' and go to 'Check for Updates' then click on it which brings up Lightroom Update Available (see image below) and as soon as I click 'Download' I get the error as shown above (in the other image). Hope this helps

Have been happy with IPOD until today. On trying to import a new audio book to iTunes and then updating IPOD to install on it, I can see the title in both the iTunes Library and menu of IPOD. However, instead of seeing a normal 57:32 (or similar stop time), I am seeing 789:57:13.152. When I try to play it through iTunes or IPOD, it skips it as if it wasn't there and plays something else. I checked out importing a music CD, and find the same problem.

let's first see if you can get the CDs to import normally if you switch off "error correction" in the iTunes Advanced-Importing preferences subtab.
but if no joy there, try checking through the other suggestions from the following document:

Can you please help with creating a spreadsheet with a specific formulas that affect popup menus?

I am a referee assignor for soccer tournaments. I would like to create a spreadsheet template that I can use that will help me with this. I have a game schedule spreadsheet with the following columns. Date, start time, age group, home team, away team, field #, center referee 1, assistant referee 1 and assistant referee 2. Here is what I would like to do if possible. If a referee has a game at say 10:00am and ends at 11:45am I would like to have a popup menu in the referee columns with referee names where this particular referee name wouldn't show for any games between 10:00am and 11:45. I should mention that for each different age group the game lengths are different. I can also add a end time column in the spreadsheet if I need to.
Is this even possible and if so does anyone have any suggestions on how to accomplish? I should also mention I am not very savvy on creating formulas.

Thanks. This is what my schedule looks like.
As you can see this particular official is scheduled for 10:00am. That particular age group game is 80 minutes long. I would like for his name to not appear in the dropdown until he is available again. I can create another column with the end time if needed or my thought was to sort the games by age group and enter a formula for each age group. It might sound like a lot of trouble but if there is a way to do it it would help tremendously as some of theses tournament have 300-400 games and it is hard to keep track of each referee and not double book them for the same time slot.
I am not even sure this can be done but trying to have numbers (or excel for that matter) to do the heavy lifting for me.

I tried to use joins but it was very very slow due to the fact that I had to perform multiple joins.

Im going to try and make this as easy as I can. I want to take a photo of say myself. Now I want to take a video of a mouth singing a song. I want to put the mouth over the photo. How can I do this. Kinda like a Conan type thing.

Not with any version of iMovie.
Don't think You even can do this with iMovie HD 6 and third party plug-ins.
To do this You need at least two video tracks and You need to cut away (crop) parts from
the face that does the singing.
Eventually You need to move the mouth so that it fit's and to do this You need to be
able to key-frame each picture/frame to keep position.
Medicine is. FinalCut Express (or Pro)
Sour side. Cost, a compleatly new way to work - it's really a bit to learn.
But If You can take the knowledge step/learning step the revard is enormous.
